Spore Delayed to 2008

Those of you looking forward to playing Will Wright’s latest offering, “Spore”, are going to have to wait awhile longer. In EA’s latest corporate statement, which can be read at GameDaily, there is an update on the game which pushes the release to April 2008 or thereabouts.

The report also shows $25 million in losses for the fourth quarter of 2006 (which ends March 31st). They are blaming the shift to the new consoles rather than EA’s reputation for making shitty games and milking bad franchises. Let’s just hope that the Spore delay results in a better game, and that EA’s new franchises, like “Skate”, fulfill their potential and get our beloved game bohemeth back in the black.
