LUFKIN, TX – A woman in Texas was arrested last week after police say she waged a campaign of harassment–against herself.
Barbara Bordelon, 52, and another man called police to report a woman they did not know was harassing them with phone calls and threatening text messages. While police investigated, the mystery woman continued with the phone calls and text messages, including some that stated the pair would be attacked by friends of the woman if they did not get police to back off.
But police continued their investigation and found that the woman doing the harassing was none other than Bordelon herself. They found that the prepaid phone being used by the woman was actually purchased by Borderlon using a fake name. Once busted and presented with the proof of her deeds, Bordelon admitted to making the calls and sending the messages, but did not explain why. I am guessing a lot of her motivation has to do with Bordelon being over 50 and lacking a penis.
Bordelon, who has no prior criminal convictions, was charged with two counts of tampering with evidence and fraudulent use of identifying information. She is being held in the Angelina County Jail on a $95,000 bond.…

DALLAS, TX – A man in Texas is facing a handful of charges after a woman and two young children were injured when he accidentally fired his handgun inside a Walmart.
According to police, 23-year-old Todd Canady was having issues pulling out his wallet in the checkout line inside a Walmart and accidentally discharged his Springfield .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol he had hidden there.
The bullet grazed Canady’s buttocks and struck the cement floor. The resulting debris struck a woman and two children who were standing nearby but luckily for everyone, they were not seriously injured.
Canady ran from the store when an off-duty police officer tried to question him about his idiocy. He was arrested after a short chase and found to have a valid concealed handgun license, but was still charged with injury to a child, a felony, and misdemeanor charges of assault and evading arrest.
Kudos to Canady for obtaining a concealed handgun license so he could legally carry, but that means he took the required gun safety class and was fully aware of just how stupid it is to carry a loaded handgun in this fashion.…

EDINBURG, Texas – A character from the movie Wrong Turn called police the other day and admitted that he was the man responsible for two separate murders committed in the ’70s.
Jeffrey Cutlip is a 63-year-old sex offender with a long history of arrests and stints in prison, including an 11 year prison sentence for a 1982 first-degree sodomy and first-degree burglary conviction.
But it seems Cutlip has either grown a conscience or now needs a place to live, because he called a Texas police department on Saturday and wanted to talk to detectives “about some bad things he had done in the past.” Then, according to a police spokesman, Cutlip confessed to three to four homicides in Portland.
One of his alleged victims was 15-year-old Julie Marie Bennett. She was last seen on April 4, 1977 walking with Cutlip, then 27, after stopping in a convenience store to buy beer and cigarettes. Her body was found two days later face-down in a creek. An autopsy showed Bennett had died from drowning.
Cutlip also admitted to the strangulation death of 44-year-old Marlene Clair Carlson.…

Edinburg, TX – A former football player for Edinburg North High School has been arrested and charged with child molestation after he was caught inside his car with a half-dressed 11-year-old boy.
Neighbors in a McAllen neighborhood said they’ve seen 18-year-old Joel Cuellar’s black Chevy Camaro parked in the Bicentennial Soccer Fields parking lot on multiple occasions, but never called police about it and never imagined what police say was happening inside.
One neighbor stated that she normally saw the car parked at night underneath a broken lamp post. That’s where a police officer found it parked Friday night around midnight. The officer observed that the windows were fogged up and decided to see what the occupants were up to.
As he approached the car, Cuellar stepped out and, according to the officer’s report, had to pull up his pants. Also inside the car was an 11-year-old boy, reportedly the little brother of Cuellar’s ex-girlfriend. A neighbor, who watched as the arrest unfolded, stated that Cuellar had to pull his pants up when he got out of the car, and that police had to wrap a towel around the 11-year-old boy’s waist.…

DALLAS, TX – Elizabeth Escalona has pleaded guilty to gluing her 2-year-old daughter’s hands to a wall before beating her into a coma.
The 23-year-old was arrested back in 2011 after calling her mother and telling her something was wrong with her daughter, Jocelyn Cedillo. When the grandmother arrived at the home, she found the little girl unresponsive.
Jocelyn was rushed to the hospital where she remained in a coma for two days suffering from broken bones, brain swelling, swollen intestines, bruised lungs and an injured liver. Paint was also stuck to the girl’s palms, with skin torn away in places.
Police records show that the toddler’s siblings told investigators that Escalona was upset with her daughter for soiling herself and glued her hands to a wall. She also repeatedly kicked young Jocelyn in the stomach and beat her with a jug of milk, a belt and a shoe.
“In the almost six years that I’ve been in child abuse, this is one of the most horrific child abuse cases that I’ve been witness to, and I’ve seen a lot,” Sgt.…

Houston, TX — A 24-year-old moving company employee has been accused of taking pictures of and fondling a customer’s 5-year-old girl while he was on the job.
According to court documents, Justin Summers was working for the moving company hired by a family to help them move into a new home. While at the house, the report states he entered an upstairs room where the customer’s 5-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son were playing a game.
That’s where Summers allegedly fondled the girl and took inappropriate photographs of her with his cell phone. The charges are only being file now because no one knew anything may have happened until the girl’s brother recently told his mother what happened.
He told her that he saw Summers “lifting his sister’s skirt and removing or pulling down her underwear and then taking several photographs of her genital area.” The girl confirmed her brother’s comments and later told investigators that Summers ”touched her private area by putting his finger on it” before taking the pictures.
Police tracked down Summers and were able to seize his cell phone where they found some creepy videos of the girl.…

A story out of Texas is no different where a man, allegedly under the effects of K-2, attacked some people before beating a dog to death and then eating on the dog’s corpse.
Police say they received a call from someone reporting a man “going crazy.” The man going crazy was 22-year-old Michael Terron Daniel and he was reportedly suffering a bad trip from ingesting K-2, the synthetic drug idiots take because they can’t find weed.

Shiner, TX – This isn’t too surprising, but a grand jury in Texas ruled that the father who caught a man molesting his young daughter was within his rights to beat that man to death.
On Tuesday, a Lavaca County grand jury decided not to indict the 23-year-old father who beat 47-year-old Jesus Mora Flores to death after he caught Flores in the act of raping his 5-year-old daughter. Prosecutors said the grand jury agreed with police, in that the father was within his rights to protect his daughter with deadly force, after they reviewed evidence that included the father’s 911 call.
The father and her daughter were on their family’s rural farm having a barbecue when someone witnessed Flores, a casual acquaintance of the father’s family, forcibly carrying the father’s daughter to a secluded area near a barn. After being informed, the father ran towards his daughter’s screams and found Flores in the process of sexually assaulting her. The father pulled Flores away and delivered a series of blows to Flores’s head that proved fatal.

Laredo, TX – The mother of a 6-year-old child says a teacher instructed an entire classroom of kindergartners to line up and slap her son because of his alleged bullying. Now two Salinas Elementary School teachers have been placed on leave, and the mother of the boy wants criminal charges filed.
The incident happened in May, but the boy never told his mother about it. It only came to light after one of the teachers present alerted school officials two weeks after it happened, and after a police report of the incident reached the county district attorney.
There’s two versions of what happened, neither of which are acceptable, but the mother’s version is a bit more extreme while the teacher’s version is a bit more believable.
According to the mother, her son admits he had been acting up in line. His teacher, described as “relatively young,” asked another teacher what she should do to curtail his bullying. The other teacher took the boy into her classroom and had him sit down before instructing 24 other kindergartners to file past him and give him a nice slap.…

A 23-year-old father was barbecuing with his family on a rural, trademark ranch when his 5-year-old daughter ran behind a nearby barn to feed some chickens.
Some time later the girl’s father heard her screaming and ran to investigate. There, behind the barn, he found a 47-year-old acquaintance of the family in the the act of sexually assaulting his daughter.
The father pulled the man off and repeatedly punched him in the head before calling 911 to inform police of what happened. By time they arrived, the unidentified man was already dead. A preliminary autopsy report shows the man had died from blunt-force head and neck injuries.
The man was known in the area for his horse grooming capabilities and had arrived at the ranch with a few other people. While the father’s family reportedly knew the man, it has not been reported if he was known to the girl or her father.…

SHINER, TX — A man in Texas caught another man in the process of molesting his 4-year-old daughter and proceeded to beat the man to death.
Police say they received a call from the father late Saturday afternoon who told them he attacked a man he caught trying to sexually assault his daughter. When police arrived at the location, they found a 47-year-old man dead at the scene.
According to police, the father and daughter were with other members of the family tending to horses when the 47-year-old victim, known for his horse-grooming abilities, arrived at the family’s rural ranch with several others. Reports are that the man was not well-known to the father or his daughter.
At some point the group heard the father’s daughter screaming from behind a barn. When the girl’s father ran to check on her, he witnessed the man assaulting his daughter. After pulling the man off, the father then punched the man in the head repeatedly, killing him.
So far no charges have been filed.…

Houston, TX – A drunk pregnant woman in Houston is facing multiple charges after she stumbled into a tattoo parlor looking to get pierced.
Police say that at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, 20-year-old Stephanie Santana, who is 7-months pregnant, pulled up to a tattoo parlor and stumbled inside to see how long it would take to get a piercing.
Santana needed it done in a hurry because she was a responsible, drunk, pregnant woman driving in the early morning hours with her 1-year-old daughter. Leaving her child unattended in the car for too long would just be bad parenting.
The employees, noticing she was drunk, told her that they would not be able to help her and told her to get out of the store. Police were called after an employee discovered the child in the car and mommy passed out in the driver’s seat with the car idling and the door wide open.
When police arrived, they found Santana still sleeping in the idling car with her daughter and woke her up.…

DALLAS, Texas – Two years ago I posted about the Roman Catholic priest accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill a teenager who accused him of sexual abuse. On Thursday, a jury found him guilty.
For those too lazy to click the link above, here’s some background. 52-year-old Rev. John Fiala got busted in a sting set up by The Department of Public Safety and its Texas Ranger Division after one of Fiala’s neighbors went to police claiming the priest had offered him $5,000 to kill someone.
That someone was an 18-year-old boy Fiala had met in 2007, when the boy was only 16 and when Fiala was a priest at the Sacred Heart of Mary Parish. Authorities say Fiala would meet the teen at the teen’s grandmother’s house and would groom him with gifts like a cell phone, MP3 player, and cash for a car. In 2008, during a trip to a youth event, Fiala allegedly raped the teen at gunpoint in a motel room.
Afterwards, Fiala began abusing the teen at least twice a month.…

Corpus Christi, TX - A five year research project at Columbia School of Law has established that Carlos DeLuna, 27, was wrongly executed in 1989 after a string of proceedings – and errors. A report, entitled “Los Tocayos Carlos: Anatomy of a Wrongful Execution,” traces Deluna’s path to his lethal injection.
In February 1983, Wanda Lopez – a single mother – was stabbed to death in the gas station where she worked in Corpus Christi. That night Lopez had called police for help twice to protect her from an individual with a switchblade.
“They could have saved her, they said ‘we made this arrest immediately’ to overcome the embarrassment,” law professor James Liebman said.
Forty minutes after the crime Carlos DeLuna was arrested near the gas station. DeLuna said he ran from police because he was on parole and had been drinking.
Deluna was identified by a single eyewitness who saw a Hispanic male running from the gas station. There were some immediate discrepencies. Deluna was dressed differently and clean shaven.…

Wolmer, TX – An 18-year-old in Texas has ensured a spot on one of those dumb criminal shows after he allegedly tried to rob a police officer while inside a police department.
Police say that on Saturday, Keithan Manuel walked into the lobby of the Wilmer Police Department and approached the dispatch window with a white towel covering his hands.
He pointed his towel-covered hands at the Communications Officer and demanded she give him all of her money. He then acted as if he was joking and said he was there to check on a warrant.
After giving the officer a fake name, he then switched back into dumbass mode and informed the officer that he really did have a gun. Tired of playing games, the officer called for backup who arrived and were able to take Manuel down at gunpoint.
Manuel, who did not have a weapon, was arrested and hit with several charges, including robbery. He is in the Dallas County Jail with a $200,000 bond, telling anyone who will listen that it was all a big misunderstanding and that people just don’t get his brand of humor.…

Dallas, TX – Police have charged a 28-year-old woman with murder after they say she cut off a man’s genitals before stabbing him to death while in a Texas motel room.
A security guard at a Motel 6 contacted police to report he had heard a loud argument going on between a man and women in one of the motel’s third-floor rooms. He told them that when he went to investigate, he witnessed Cristal Richardson walking down the hall naked and covered in blood.
Responding police were let into the room by the motel manager, and there they found the dead body of 34-year-old Cedric Owens. According to the medical report, Owens had suffered, “multiple stab wounds to his upper body, his throat was cut and there was traumatic amputation of the penis and scrotum.”
Richardson was treated at the hospital for minor, offensive injuries to her hands before being booked on a charge of murder with bond set at $200,000.
The two were casual acquaintances who both have criminal records that include assault and drug related convictions. Richardson’s attorney said she had simply acted in self-defense.…

HOUSTON, TX – Police have arrested a man for allegedly barricading a populated bar’s exit and then setting the bar on fire.
On the night of April 19, 30-year-old Jaime Mata and his buddy, known only as “Pepe,” were kicked out of an East Houston nightclub, the East End Bar, for fighting with staff.
Apparently they felt that if they weren’t to be allowed a full night’s fun, no one else should be either. Witnesses state that as the pair were being ejected, Mata called out the subtle warning, “This place is gonna burn!”
Mata and Co. left and fetched some gasoline from a nearby Conoco station. They then returned to the bar where, as is clearly seen in surveillance video, a shirtless man with ‘Mata’ emblazoned on his back (and tits bigger than mine) accompanied by an equally shirtless friend, closes the burglar bars over the front door of the bar. He then wedges a large piece of wood between the burglar gate and the ground, effectively jamming it closed.
Further video shows the men rounding the building and pouring the gasoline along the bar’s back wall and rear exit, then lighting it. Lucky for patrons and staff, the building was equipped with a third door and everyone was able to safely evacuate.…

Texas City, Tx - On Thursday, 45-year-old Kevin Edison Smith received a life sentence after a jury took 30 minutes to convict him of the 1996 rape and strangulation of 13-year-old Krystal Jean Baker.
On March 5 1996, Baker got into a fight with her grandmother and was looking for a way to get to a friend’s house. She was last seen walking from her grandmother’s house to a convenience store where she tried to call her mother. Her body would be found dumped under a Trinity River bridge later that night. She had been raped before she was strangled to death.
Her murder remained unsolved for 14 years until a Chambers County sheriff’s officer took her dress and resubmitted it for analysis using current technology. A semen stain was found, and the resulting DNA recovered was matched to a DNA sample Smith had submitted after a minor drug arrest in 2010.
After his arrest, Smith admitted on videotape that he gave Baker a ride, then choked her with a leather strap when she “started freaking out on me.”
Smith did not take the stand during his trial, but was defiant in the courtroom regarding the evidence suggesting sexual assault.…

Austin, TX - A man is in a medically-induced coma in a hospital burn unit after his wife allegedly used a ruse of giving him a “hot oil massage” to douse him in gasoline and light him up. Police identified multiple ways that they believe she attempted to keep him from getting aid.
On Tuesday night, police responded to a disturbance call at the apartment that Shriya Biman Patel, 25, shared with her husband. Police say they found a naked man lying on the floor screaming in pain with severe burns over 70% of his body. Patel was also in the apartment when they arrived.
According to the victim, he had undressed and gotten into the bathtub under the guise of a promise by his wife to give him a hot oil massage. Investigators found candles placed around the bathroom presumably to create a romantic ambiance. The victim said, then – when he entered the tub – Patel poured what the man believed to be oil on him. He told investigators the next thing he knew, he was on fire.…
