Elderly Double-Amputee Killed After Four Pit Bulls Drag Him From Wheelchair

Harleyville, SC – Police say 80-year-old Carlton Freeman has died after the double-amputee was dragged from his motorized wheelchair and mauled by four pit bulls.
The attack happened on May 8 as Freeman was driving his motorized wheelchair. The dogs pulled him off his wheelchair and tried to drag him into some nearby woods. The man lost both legs to diabetes, so the only thing he could do was use his hands to protect his throat.
When found, he was suffering from bites from his legs to the top of his head. He was rushed to the hospital where he remained until his death on Sunday. “Upon my examination of Mr. Freeman, it is a wonder that this gentleman was able to hang on as long as he did,’ Coroner Chris Nisbet said in a statement.
Three of the four dogs, a female and her two puppies, belong to a relative of Freeman’s, 61-year-old Barbara Goodwin. Those dogs were found at her home with blood streaks in their fur and have been placed in an animal shelter.…

CHARLESTON, SC – Police have arrested 27-year-old Amanda Cantwell, accusing her of attacking her boyfriend after he refused to have sex with her.
Officers responding to a domestic disturbance call detained Cantwell after observing her running from an apartment.
Inside the apartment they found Cantwell’s 33-year-old boyfriend who told them Cantwell attacked him after he refused to have sex with her.
She allegedly slapped him on the head, jumped on his back and put her fingers in his mouth, clawing the inside of his cheeks. He said that after he managed to get Cantwell off of his back, he called police.
Cantwell had a different story. She told police that they had been drinking all day and got into a verbal dispute. Cantwell said that’s when her boyfriend attacked her. She scratched the inside of is mouth in self-defense when he began choking her.
After noting she had no visible injuries, and her boyfriend had visible scratches inside his mouth, police arrested Amanda Cantwell and charged her with criminal domestic violence.…

Conway, SC – Police have charged 35-year-old heather Hampton with unlawful neglect of a child after they say she was drunk when she got into a fight with her two sons and ended up biting one child while stepping on another.
According to police, Hampton was intoxicated Saturday night when she began arguing with an 11-year-old boy that got so heated that police were called to the home.
When police arrived, they found the 11-year-old was sporting visible injuries, including bite marks on his head, neck and face. A 2-year-old boy was also there and had a scratch on his shoulder and chin.
The older boy told police Hampton was responsible for his injuries and that she’d also knocked over and stepped on the toddler. Hampton, who police noted had the smell of alcohol on her breath, was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful neglect of a child.
The S.C. Department of Social Services arrived at the home and arranged a temporary place for the two boys to stay. As of Monday, Hampton was still in custody at the J Reuben Long Detention Center on a $20,000 bail.…

SPARTANBURG, SC - Police say 36-year-old Tyshekka Collier is facing charges after she walked into the school office to pick up her son, who had just been suspended, then slapped the wrong child.
On Wednesday morning, Collier was called to Fairforest Middle School to get her son because he’d just been suspended. When she arrived, she saw a boy sitting in the office with his head down and slapped him in the face. Problem was that it wasn’t her son – it was a boy who was sick and waiting for his mother to come pick him up.
Collier apologized to the boy, then walked over to her son and proceeded to slap his ass silly. According to the arrest warrant, Collier hit her son in the head and face, knocking him to the ground.
Police were called to the scene and Collier was arrested and charged with disturbing school and two counts of assault and battery.
“In speaking with the parents and all the interviews that were done — the two charges for the assaults and disturbing school, we felt were the most appropriate means to go with,” said Spartanburg County sheriff’s Lt.…

GREENWOOD, SC – Michelle Thomas was arrested after she attacked her boyfriend with a knife, and took his prosthetic leg so he could not chase after her.
Thomas called Greenwood police to say she had just been attacked by her live-in boyfriend. She told them he was drunk and began hitting her after she threw him a pack of cigarettes. She said she ran to the kitchen and grabbed a knife that she used to slash at the man when he would not stop attacking her.
She said that after she cut his hands, she removed his prosthetic leg and tossed it out the door in an attempt to hinder his ability to chase after her. When police arrived, they noted a knot on Thomas’ forehead and a cut on her hand she said she received when her boyfriend tried to take away the knife.
However, the boyfriend had a different version of what happened. HANAHAN, SC – Court documents state 23-year-old Derek Stilson fractured his infant’s skull when he angrily threw the baby on the ground when he wouldn’t quit crying.
On February 21, Stilson called 911 to report his son wasn’t acting normal after telling the child’s mother that the infant rolled over and began having stroke-like symptoms.
“I don’t know how this…I’ve never seen this before,” Stilson says to a 911 dispatcher. “Are they going to take him to the hospital or something?”
EMS workers did just that, and doctors at Medical University of South Carolina discovered the baby’s skull was fractured and there was bleeding and swelling on his brain.
While being interviewed, Stilson would admit to Hanahan Police Department investigators that, two days prior, he threw his baby son on the floor because he could not stop him from crying.

Aiken, SC — A 53-year-old man previously accused of masturbating at public computer is now facing additional charges of indecent exposure because he apparently can’t keep his dick in his drawers.
Willie (tee-hee) Merriweather was taken into custody early last week after police say he whipped his peener out while being interviewed at a staffing agency.
According to police, the victim told police Willie entered the office Monday and sat down for an interview. The woman said she collected information from Willie, such as his name, previous employer and Social Security number.
The woman went on to tell police that as she was collecting this information, she glanced over at Willie and realized he had his dick out of his pants and in his hand.
“It fell out,” Willie reportedly explained.
The woman didn’t buy that excuse and ordered him out of the building before calling police.

Myrtle Beach, SC – Police in South Carolina say they have arrested a woman for choking an alleged blanket hog.
While I don’t see a problem with that, really, the law doesn’t allow for those sort of shenanigans and the suspect, 42-year-old Tina Berryhill Rucker, was arrested.
According to the victim, Rucker got all choky and shit after he attempted to employ the “tuck and roll” maneuver so popular with blanket hogs.
He said Rucker ”jumped on top of him and began to choke him.”
Signs of a struggle were apparently evident on the man’s neck – police say it appeared as if he had been choked. He was also sporting a few bloody scratches from Rucker’s fingernails.
Rucker, who police say was intoxicated and uncooperative at the time of her arrest, presumably due to the fact that she was friggin’ cold and tired, was booked into jail and charged with criminal domestic violence.

HODGES, S.C. —A 65-year-old woman in South Carolina was killed by a pit bull while babysitting her grandchildren.
Betty Todd was babysitting her three grandchildren – ages 1 to 12 - while her son and his wife went to dinner Tuesday night.
For reasons unknown, the family pit bull began viciously attacking Todd. The oldest grandchild tried to get the dog off her grandmother but was unable to. The girl gathered her siblings into a room that did not contain their screaming grandmother being killed by their dog and called her father for help.
When police arrived at the home, they were greeted at the door by an aggressive pit bull with blood on its mouth, chest and paws. At the same time, Todd’s son and his wife pulled up and were able to corral the dog into another room of the house.
Todd was found unresponsive with puncture wounds to her head, face and neck. EMS attempted to resuscitate her, but were unsuccessful. The coroner stated Betty Todd died of neck and spinal injuries.…

Spartanburg, SC — The unsatisfied looking gent to the left is 44-year-old Edward Patrick – he was busted earlier this week after allegedly throwing a jar of change at his live-in lady because she refused to suck him off.
The victim, 41-year-old Patricia Watson, told police Patrick tossed the jar at her elbow, leaving a visible mark and causing it to bleed.
In turn, police say, Watson bit Patrick’s thumb. No word on whether blood was drawn.
Patrick, of course, denied the accusation, but refused to give a written statement to police.
Watson, too, refused to give a written statement, declaring to the officer that if she felt the need for a Safe Homes Counselor, she already had the number. Probably on speed dial…..

Police were called to the home of Shannon and Michael Manatis earlier this week after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance. Seems the Mr. let loose a butt burp that left the Mrs. gasping for air and fighting the urge to toss her cookies.
Shannon reportedly told the responding officer said air biscuit was “bad enough to cause her to almost puke.” So, in retaliation, she grabbed a can of vanilla scented Lysol (that exists?!?!) and sprayed it in the area her husband occupied.

LANCASTER COUNTY, SC – I didn’t know impregnating your biological daughter was illegal in South Carolina, especially having visited the state and figuring it was a rite of passage, but apparently it is. I also learned that, in some situations, the punishment for raping your daughter and getting her pregnant is less than had you been strolling down a South Carolina street smoking a joint.
Fred Lee Montgomery, 47, pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor after admitting he raped his 13-year-old daughter on multiple occasions 14 years ago and got her pregnant in the process. His daughter, 27-year-old Tia Stevens, would give birth to her own brother at the age of 13.
On Monday, a judge sentenced the proud father of his own grandson to 15 years in prison, but suspended all but one year. Woodruff, SC – Lacey Denise Lamb, 28 years old and 21-weeks pregnant, was shot dead by a police officer while she was reportedly attempting to run him over with a car.
Officer William T. Knight pulled the vehicle over at about 1:40 PM yesterday on Jamie’s Creek Drive. The reason for the traffic stop is unclear, but once the car was stopped, the driver, 33-year-old Matthew Drake Simmons, reportedly exited and began running.
Officer Knight gave chase, at which point Lamb, the only passenger, allegedly got behind the wheel and put the car into motion in an attempt to run the officer down, presumably in an effort to allow Simmons to escape.
Knight drew his weapon and fired, lethally wounding her. Lamb was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, but neither she nor her unborn child survived.
Simmons was arrested and charged with driving under suspension, third or subsequent offense, according to online jail records. He is currently awaiting a bond hearing. It’s unclear at this point if he is the father of the deceased fetus.…

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — An 81-year-old man was arrested after police say he sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl as she walked home from school.
The child’s grandmother told police that the girl was walking home from school when James Holmes grabbed her, hugged her, touched her breast and put his tongue in her mouth.
Police arrested Holmes and charged him with assault and battery. He was later released on a $20,000 bond. In his defense, Holmes says he is sorry and the entire incident was just an err in judgement.
“I just hugged her the wrong way,” he told News 4’s Gabrielle Komorowski. “I apologize. I’m sorry it ever happened. I knew better. It’s not anything that I’m proud of.”
The girl’s grandmother says her granddaughter has seen Holmes sitting on his porch before, but that she did not know him. She says she went public with the story in hopes of protecting other children.

Conway, SC – A man in South Carolina is a little peeved over the fact that the registered sex offender convicted of soliciting his 10-year-old daughter for sex is still allowed to live next door.
Kerry Marlowe was convicted of criminal solicitation of a minor and had to registered as a sex offender because of an incident that happened between him and his neighbor’s 10-year-old daughter last fall.
According to the girl’s father, Chris Smith, his daughter was playing with Marlowe’s cat by the chain link fence that separates their yards. Smith’s daughter says that Marlowe was standing on his side of the fence when he asked her about her bra size. She says Marlowe then said he wanted to rub lotion on her, exposed himself, and leaned over the fence to try and kiss her. After the girl went inside and told her father what happened, Smith called police.
Marlowe was arrested a few days later and charged with committing a lewd act on a minor. At his probation hearing, Marlowe was ordered to wear an ankle bracelet and not to go within a mile of the neighborhood.…

UNION COUNTY, SC – A man in South Carolina has been arrested after botching an illegal tattoo for a woman who wanted a tattoo of her stillborn baby on her arm.
Leshannon McBeth has a few tattoos already, but decided she wanted to get another on her upper arm of her stillborn baby. She went to Jody Rector, a friend of her cousin, who said he was a licensed tattoo artist and would give her what she wanted for $150. After paying, McBeth says that the work he was doing did not look anything like her stillborn infant and asked that he make it look like her older son instead.
Rector agreed, but what McBeth ended up with is a tattoo that she says looks like Frankenstein’s monster. I think it looks like Betty Boop, but either way, it was a mess. Rector refused to refund McBeth her money, and she found out Rector wasn’t even licensed to tattoo in South Carolina. On top of that, the tattoo became infected and would not stop bleeding. SPARTANBURG, SC – Police say a man got so upset over his son-in-laws’s “yo’ mamma” jokes that he cut the comedian with a knife and threatened to kill him.
Police were stopped by a bloody man who told them he had just been cut by his father-in-law, 72-year-old Marvin Tutt. He says that he, Tutt, and another man were riding together and were engaged in a bit of trash talking that eventually turned to “yo’ momma” jokes.
An extremely intoxicated Tutt became angry over the jokes about his mother and expressed his displeasure by putting a knife to his son-in-law’s throat and threatening to kill him. When the victim tried to get out of the car, Tutt cut him. The man says that after he got out of the car, Tutt chased after him, but returned back to the vehicle.
Police pulled over the vehicle and arrested Tutt, charging him with aggravated assault and battery. It must of been one hell of a joke because police say Tutt was still fuming over it in the back of the patrol car where he stated he “should have killed” his son-in-law and that he was going to murder him.…

GREER, SC – Police have arrested a public works commissioner after they say he assaulted his wife with a key lime pie.
Police were called to the home of 51-year-old Perry Williams after his wife called 911 Saturday night. Once there, the police observed Williams’ wife with a bloody nose, a scratch on her face, and covered in key lime pie.
She told them that she had accidentally dropped some pie on her husband as they argued over whether or not key lime pie was a fruit. In response, she says he became angry and threw the pie in her face. She also told officers that this isn’t the first time her husband has acted violent towards her, it was just the first time she had ever reported it.
After giving police her statement, the woman said she did not want to press charges against her husband. The officers informed her that because they observed injuries, her deciding not to press charges didn’t matter, her husband would be charged by the state. SPARTANBURG, S.C. - A burglar was found dead inside a home on Thursday, after having fallen down a flight of stairs.
The home was empty and undergoing renovations when a painter arrived to work Thursday morning. Once inside he found broken glass and signs of a break-in.
The painter decided he would check out the vacant house by himself and see if he could find the person(s) responsible. Just kidding, this painter isn’t a moron. He immediately backed the hell out and called the homeowner, who then called 911.
Police arrived at the home shortly after and performed a sweep inside. There, at the foot of the basement stairs, they found the dead body of 52-year-old Robert Edward Powell.
Burglars often target vacant homes like this because often there are appliances, fixtures or copper to be had. This home did not have any appliances or fixtures, but it did have copper. This looks like the item Powell had been after as some of it was found in the dead man’s back pocket.…

GREENVILLE, SC — Police have arrested a 19-year-old McDonald’s employee, accusing him of spitting in two sweet teas before serving them to a customer.
According to Greenville County deputies, a woman claimed to have gone through the McDonald’s drive-thru and ordered two sweet teas for herself and her daughter and realized they were unsweetened.
She exchanged the teas for two sweet teas but realized once again that they were unsweetened. She decided not to return them a second time and chose to sweeten them when she got home.
When she removed the lids, she saw “a large deposit of phlegm floating at the top of both drinks.”
She called police who were able to view surveillance video from within the restaurant that showed McDonald’s employee, Marvin Washington Jr., leaning his face down to the cups before filling them with tea.
he was subsequently charged with unlawful/malicious tampering with food and later released from jail on $5,000 bond.
