Mother Charged With Homicide After Her Four Children Die In A FireRAYNE, La. - Police have charged 26-year-old Shaqueta McDade with homicide after her four children died in a mobile home fire Saturday night.

According to 26-year-old Shaqueta McDade’s neighbors, she had a bad habit of leaving her five young children home alone. One neighbor described finding McDade’s 2-year-old wandering the streets at midnight last month and calling police.

Another neighbor said that McDade’s left her kids alone inside their mobile home last Friday night, prompting them to call police as well. The kids were removed from the home, but returned to McDade the next day. That night, McDade once again left  her children home alone.

This time the end result would be far more tragic than a simple call to police and yet another opportunity for McDade to leave her kids unsupervised. That night, a fire broke out in the living room of the home and soon the entire trailer was engulfed in flames.

Neighbors tried to get McDade’s children out of the trailer, but were driven back from the intense heat. Jamari McDade, 8; Amous Mouton Jr., 7; LaShay McDade, 5, and Brian Steiner, 2, would all perish in the fire.…
