PORT TOWNSEND, WA – A 13-year-old boy has been charged with three counts of first-degree rape after police say he sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl on a school bus.
Jefferson County Under Sheriff Joe Nole said they began their investigation back in March after receiving a call from a doctor’s office regarding the possible rape of a 7-year-old.
The victim’s aunt, her legal guardian, had taken the girl to the doctor’s office after she came home from school bleeding, and finally told her aunt what the boy had been doing to her on the school bus. While exact dates of the assaults are not known, the resulting investigation determined the girl and the boy rode the bus together from Sept. 3, 2014 to Feb. 25, 2015.
In April, the information the sheriff’s department had gathered had them recommending the boy be charged with child rape in the first degree, child molestation in the first degree, and indecent liberties.
The boy was expelled from Chimacum Middle School and was released to his family pending his trial.…
GULFPORT, FL — The driver of the school bus accused by some of not doing enough to protect a 13-year-old kid who was getting his ass kicked by three teens will not face any charges.
According to Gulfport police, the bus had left Lealman Intermediate School when three 15-year-olds — Lloyd Khemradj, Julian McKnight and Joshua Reddin — punched and kicked the 13-year-old victim dozens of times, fracturing his hand and robbing him before leaving via the rear emergency door.
The motive behind the beating stems from the victim telling school officials that one of the attackers had tried to sell him pot in the school bathroom two weeks earlier. The three boys are now facing charges of aggravated battery with one of them facing an additional charge of robbery for taking the victim’s cash.
Police initially wanted charges filed against the bus driver, 64-year-old John Moody, for failing to properly help the victim. “There was clearly an opportunity for him to intervene and or check on the welfare of the children or the child in this case and he didn’t make any effort to do so,” said Chief Robert Vincent of Gulfport Police Department.…
SPRINGTOWN, TX – What an absolute nightmare. On Monday morning, the mother of 10-year-old Haven Lee Norton watched in horror as her son was struck and killed by his school bus in front of his home.
The accident happened after the bus stopped to pick up another child across the street from the boy’s home. Norton, a fourth-grader at Springtown Elementary School who had only been riding the bus for two weeks, tripped and fell in front of the bus.
“The woman bus driver stopped the bus and activated the lights,” said Department of Public Safety trooper Gary Rozzell. “The boy came up beside the bus as she deactivated the lights. The bus started to pull forward and the boy couldn’t get out of the way, and was struck by the left front of the vehicle.”
Authorities say Norton tripped and fell in front of the bus, and wasn’t able to get up before being run over by the front and rear tires of the bus. The only witness to the accident was Norton’s mother, who had been keeping an eye on her son to make sure he got on the bus safely.…
PALM BAY, FL – Kathryn Wright was arrested after police say the 58-year-old grandmother got drunk off her ass while chaperoning a bus filled with children returning from an elementary school field trip.
Police say Wright drank two bottles of diluted vodka while in accompanying her grandson, and 200 other students at Lockmar Elementary School, on a trip to WonderWorks in Orlando. On the way back to Palm Bay, Wright became belligerent and started using profanity in front of approximately 36 other students on the bus.
She got so bad that other adults on the bus moved Wright’s grandson away from her because he was getting upset. When the adults tried to calm Wright down, she shouted at the others, telling them to “get the (expletive) out of my way or else,” and pushed one woman.
Police were called and met the bus before it got back to the school. Wright was so drunk at that point, she couldn’t even walk off the bus on her own. She was arrested and charged with disorderly intoxication and battery.…
CLEVELAND, OH — The woman who got busted driving on a sidewalk to pass a stopped school bus, has completed the second half of her sentence of having to hold a sign in public that warned people about idiots.
For those of you who haven’t been following this story, 32-year-old Shena Hardin got busted using a sidewalk to get around a stopped school bus that was loading and unloading children. She would end up pleading guilty to not stopping for a school bus and reckless operation and ordered to pay $250 in court costs and have her license suspended for 30 days.
But the judge would also add one more stipulation. She ordered Hardin to stand at the intersection of E. 38th Street and Payne Avenue from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. this past Tuesday and today while wearing a sign that read, “Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus.”
On Tuesday, Hardin showed up with her sign and was greeted by gawkers and news channels.…
Cleveland, OH — Looks like I lost some readers with my latest Facebook post regarding my run for President and my promise, if elected, to make women take five driving courses a month in order to keep their driver’s license. Someone even took time away from doing housework to call me a sexist asshole. The nerve.
All I was trying to do was keep women from ending up like the one in Ohio who routinely used the sidewalk to pass a stopped school bus who has now been ordered to stand on the side of the road wearing a sign that states she’s an idiot.
For those of you who missed the story, a Cleveland Metropolitan School District bus driver got fed up with a female driver who was in the habit of using the sidewalk to pass his stopped school bus as he loaded and unloaded kids. The driver of the bus, Uriah Herron, contacted police who then set up a trap to nab the woman. You can watch the day she was busted here:
The driver of the vehicle seen in the video was 32-year-old Shena Hardin.…
Greece, NY – Karen Klein, 58, a Greece Central School District bus monitor, was verbally abused to appalling lengths by four middle-school students this week while riding the school bus.
This description doesn’t at all capture the brutality with which the kids berated the poor woman. You can see for yourself in this video, shot by a student on a cell phone. It was was initially posted on Facebook, but has since been removed and re-posted on YouTube, where it has gone viral. I’ll be honest that I was nearly unable to watch the entire 10+ minute video because being witness to that kind of abuse is just exhausting for me.
Through the entire video, which must have seemed like ten hours to Ms. Klein, she remains completely restrained, only tearing up in the face of the verbal assault, but never cracking or lashing out. In fact, she seems to attempt to defuse the situation by engaging them in normal conversation, to which the students only responded with profanity and insults; calling her fat, poor, and ugly and actually threatening to defecate in her mouth.…
Portland, OR — A school bus driver suffered bites, scratches and bruises after she was viciously attacked by a 10 to 12-year-old autistic boy riding on the bus.
According to reports, 68-year-old Alice Scoggin was transporting two special needs students to Rock Creek Middle School when a a student with autism began biting her repeatedly, continuing his assault even after she had pulled over.
A passing motorist stopped to assist after seeing the bus with its emergency lights on and Scoggins waving her bloody arms outside the window. The man, a volunteer firefighter, said he witnessed the student biting Scoggin, and that the boy also tried to bite him when he got on the bus. When police arrived to take the boy into custody, he even tried to bite the arresting officer.
Scoggin was transported by ambulance to Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center, suffering from bites on her hands, her arms and possibly her face. Her injuries were not life-threatening. The boy was taken into protective custody at a secure facility, where he’ll undergo a psych exam.…
MICHIGAN CITY, Indiana — An 8-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy have been charged with battery for beating their female bus driver after being asked to stop throwing things on the bus.
The boys were on their way home Friday, riding in a school bus taking them back home from Springfield Elementary School, when they began tossing a lanyard back and forth between the seats.
When a 73-year-old bus monitor told them to stop playing around, one of the boys began verbally assaulting her. When she admonished him, the other boy chimed in as well, swearing at her and calling her names.
The 35-year-old bus driver, Shaunda Gilbert, eventually pulled the bus over to the side of the road in an attempt to get the boys to calm down. The 8-year-old informed her he was just going to get off the bus, but Gilbert blocked his path to the door.
This prompted the young boy to push Gilbert to the floor where he began pulling out her hair and slamming her head on the floor. …
Noblesville, IN – According to Fishers (Indiana) Police, if the school bus is a-rockin’, don’t come a-knockin’. This after they determined that sexual intercourse occurring on a school bus between a 13-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl – both students at the Indiana School for the Deaf – was ‘consensual.’
On February 1, the two children were being transported on a Nobleville School’s bus. Although two adults on the bus – the driver and a bus aide – did not notice the sexual activity, it was captured on the bus’ video surveillance camera. The adults did eventually realize what was going on and, after bringing it to a halt, reportedly delivered the children as planned.
Immediately after the incident was reported, Noblesville Schools released a statement. Among the standard damage control tripe was this:
“The children involved are safe and have returned to the classroom. The two adults assigned to the bus in which the incident occurred have been removed from active duty pending further investigation.”
Fishers police conducted that investigation.…
HOUSTON, TX — I swear I’m not hunting down school bus stories, it just seems to be a popular topic in the headlines lately. This one is out of Texas, where police arrested two 10-year-old boys and charged them with raping an 8-year-old boy on a school bus.
To make matters even more complicated, all three boys are special needs students.
The two older boys were arrested last week, but the alleged rape happened back in August of last year. The incident was discovered after a parent asked the school district’s transportation department to review the conditions on the school bus that takes special needs students to an elementary school. No reason is given as to why a parent requested this, but reports are that it was not related to the sexual assault.
After the school’s principal reviewed surveillance video taken on the bus, he observed the three boys involved in some kind of inappropriate activity. Authorities are not giving out the details of this inappropriate activity, but the principal took disciplinary action against all three boys, then turned the video over to CPS and the police .…
After the Liberty Middle School student boarded the bus, none of the 70+ students on board would let her sit beside them. So she sat in her sister’s lap. Teasing ensued before someone threw a shoe at the girl, hitting her in the head. When the girl threw the shoe back, all hell broke loose.
The kids were on this girl faster than Jaded on bacon and proceeded to beat the crap out of her. Police say she was punched and kicked at least 15 times during the melee and lost consciousness at some point. It was so bad that the bus driver had to stop at a different school for help after failing to stop the fighting on two occasions.
Police interviewed all the students and reviewed surveillance footage taken on the bus before arresting seven on charges of felony battery and disorderly conduct.…
Stover, Mo. — A man has been charged with statutory sodomy and child molestation after he allegedly molested a 10-year-old girl on the school bus he was driving.
Police were contacted by the Division of Family Services with information concerning the possible sexual assault of a child on a school bus at the hands of the bus driver, 44-year-old Tommy J. Estes.
According to the probable cause statement, the incident happened back in August of last year. The victim said she was the last one on the bus when Estes pulled over and laid her down on the seat and began kissing her. The victim said Estes used his finger to touch her private area and then licked his finger.
She went on to say that Estes also put his penis in her mouth and threatened stop giving her Gummi Bears if she told anyone what had happened.
Estes’ account is a bit different than the victim’s, but it really wasn’t his fault. He claims the girl wouldn’t quit making sexual advances towards him even after he had asked her to stop.…
Minnesota — A woman has been banned from her son’s school for one year after boarding a school bus and confronting the boys who had reportedly been bullying her son.
Tanya Sydney told reporters that she doesn’t regret her actions after her 10-year-old son came home from school and told her that he was being bullied on the school bus he rides to Lake Nokomis Community School.
The next day Sydney went to her son’s bus stop and confronted the driver. “He told me ‘I am doing the best I can, I can’t be in 50 million places at once,’” Sydney said. Not happy with that answer, Sydney boarded the bus and began yelling at the two boys her son had pointed out as his bullies.
The driver ordered her off the bus, so Sydney walked her son to the school where the school’s police liaison officer, the principal and a transportation supervisor were waiting for her. Her son and the two two kids accused of bullying him later apologized to each other and there have been no further reports of bullying between them.…
LOUISVILLE, KY. — Back in March we posted a story about a school bus driver who was dragged off her bus by a woman and her 12-year-old daughter.
At that time we posted the story, officials had not released the video of the altercation. Now they have.
Police arrested 30-year-old Chesica White and her 12-year-old daughter after they confronted a bus driver, Johnetta Anderson, about White’s 7-year-old son being bullied on the bus and Anderson allegedly doing nothing about it.
The video clearly shows Anderson attempting to keep White and her daughter from entering the vehicle, leading to some pushing and shoving between the three.
White and her daughter are then seen grabbing Anderson by the ankles and dragging her off the bus on to the pavement.
Anderson ended up with a torn ACL in her right knee while White ended up pleading guilty to assault, but says her actions were her just a mixture of being a protective mother and her quick, cat-like reflexes.
“She grabbed my daughter in the chest and she drew her hand back like she was ready to hit my daughter so I snatched my daughter back then she kicked her leg out like she was getting ready to check me in my chest,” said White.…
Portsmouth, VA — A 14-year-old student at Cradock Middle has been charged with beating his bus driver.
While Reena Mulder was filling in on a bus route the other afternoon, she says some of the students in the back of the bus were being disruptive and becoming mouthy, but it wasn’t until the third stop that she was able to enjoy a couple free knuckle sandwiches courtesy of a pissed off student.
“They were cursing at me, standing up. I kind of rolled through the stop a little bit, and, when I stopped, the students that were standing kind of stumbled forward as they were exiting the bus,” recalled Mulder.
One of these students was not happy about this at all, and threatened Mulder as he was getting off the bus. “You white [expletive],” Mulder recalls him saying. “You made me hit my face. I’m gonna -F- yours up.” And then he did with a couple of punches to her face.
Mulder was punched so hard, her teeth were knocked back into the roof of her mouth.…
CLINTON, MD — Police had to shoot and kill an American Bull Dog the other morning after it jumped on a school bus and began attacking the children inside.
Prince George’s County police officials say the dog chased a kid onto the bus and began attacking him. When the kid ran off the bus, the bus driver did as well in an attempt to get the bulldog off of the boy. The kid ran back onto the bus only to have the dog follow him on again.
Some of the kids tried to push the dog away or kick him in the face. When a second kid ran off the bus, the dog followed and attack him. “I didn’t know what to do. I was running to the car, so I could get in, so I wouldn’t get bit, but he bit me,” said Mikhail.
By this time police and fire officials had arrived on the scene and the dog began attacking them. When the dog began attacking another kid who had just been dropped off at the bus stop, an officer pulled the dog away and shot it. …
DAYTON, Ohio — The mother of an eighth-grader at Dayton View Academy says her daughter is being punished after telling on two fellow classmates who had sex on a school bus.
The incident reportedly occurred during a spring break trip while eight chaperons were pre-occupied at the front of the bus watching a movie. The girl is in trouble because she did not tell one of these chaperons about the two other students, deciding to tell her mother when she got home.
Because of that decision, she learned a lesson about good deeds at an early age and will be disciplined by the school. Part of her punishment includes not being able to attend the school picnic or the prom her mother had already purchased a dress for. Do they really have proms in eight-grade?
Anyway, the school defends its decision and released the following statement: “The authorities have completed their investigation, and the school has taken appropriate actions inline with our school policies concerning such matters.”
What that means is that this school’s administration, like many others, no longer looks at incidents individually and tries to handle them with common sense while taking into account the people involved and the surrounding circumstances.…
