However, if you’re already together with a heap of crack heads, there’s a good chance that you’re also a crack head. As dangerous as they are entertaining, there really is no safe place from which to watch a crack head’s strange antics. I’ve seen them scale walls, chew their way through Plexiglas and break down doors with bad prosthetic limbs. Ladson, South Carolina–A 6-week-old child was brought into the emergency room at Trident Medical Center last Thursday, suffering severe second-degree burns to his hands and left foot. Hospital officials called authorities and later transported the baby to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, where he remains today. The party responsible for the burns? Mom’s boyfriend, 20-year-old Alexander Perry.

Topeka, Kansas–Shelly Hackett was working SaturdaySaturday reviews when she received a call from her boyfriend, Jason Lopez. Jason told her he might have burned her child, 1-year-old Fabian Hackett, while giving him a bath. ‘He said he gave my son a bath and thought it was a little hot, but that he was OK,’ Shelly said. ‘He said he put cold water on it and thought he was burned because he was red.’ Shelly told Jason to take the child to the hospital, but Jason refused, insisting the baby was fine.

Denver, CO – Elijah Archuleta died last FridayFriday reviews night, a victim of child abuse, delayed medical attention, and a web of lies.  He was two years old.  Elijah’s stepfather, John Vigil, burned Elijah over 75% of his body on Friday morning.  His mother, Isela Reyes-Talamantes, waited for hours before getting her son help – she ran errands, went to a drug-related court hearing with Vigil, and then sat at home while Vigil went to the taqueria with his buddies.  By the time she got around to getting help for Elijah, it was too late.  Elijah was dead before he got to the emergency room. UPDATE 7/12/08 – Clarissa Pierce, 22, has been charged with felony child neglect for failure to seek medical help for her two year old son Nicholas for five days while the child suffered with second and third degree burns over 50% of his body. The burns were inflicted by John Cellner, Pierce’s boyfriend. Pierce is being held in the Ottawa County Jail on $150,000 bond.

Wyandotte, OK – John Cellner thought he could pass it off as a radiator gone wrong. Cellner, 23, is accused of burning his girlfriend’s two-year-old son, Nicholas, from neck to knees, front and back. The toddler has third degree burns, some of which have already required skin grafts. Even worse? It took five days for the child to get medical help. Five days, people. EASTON, Pa. – There are some parents that have good intentions but just aren’t good at it, and then there are some parents that aren’t fit to raise earthworms. Juan Ortiz, 32, and his wife Yanira Arias-Ortiz, 30 are two of those people.

Sometime in April, their 11 year old son got into some trouble for stealing a coin from another boy. Ortiz decided to teach his boy that stealing is bad with a flat, wooden piece of a railing. When the staff at Cheston Elementary School noticed his injuries, they reported it. Ortiz was charged on May 5^th and released on $1,000 bail. One of the conditions of his release was that he was not allowed to live in the home with the child.
