Santa Maria, California Talk about thinking twice about being a good samaritan! I understand when you do nice things for people, especially strangers, it’s not necessarily recognized nor appreciated. And with most good samaritans, that makes no difference in why they continue to help people. But I guarantee, the poor guy that came upon 69 year-old Frederick Holgate might tread a bit more cautiously next time he sees a man lying on the sidewalk. And lets face it, it really does speak highly of someone who would assist a person who was viewed as just being passed-out drunk. Hell, in the small city I live in, a young man was left to die on the sidewalk in the middle of winter because everyone who saw him thought he was just passed-out. Who knows?
