McDonald County, MO – Last November, McDonald County Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Boles was helping with the search for Rowan Ford when he remembered about a sinkhole where he used to play. The FBI had mentioned wanting a look at the sinkhole, but hadn’t gotten out there yet. So Boles, 27, and another deputy stopped by on the way to work the next morning. Using a rope, and flashlight, and a buddy to hold the rope, Boles lowered himself into the sinkhole and saw the mostly nude, bloodied body of Rowan Ford. She was found.

Stella, MO – David Spears, and his friend, Chris Collings, 32, were charged SaturdaySaturday reviews with one count each of first-degree murder, forcible rape and statutory rape in the death of a 9-year-old Rowan Ford. Her body was found FridayFriday reviews in a cave in a remote part of McDonald County, about 10 miles south of the village of Stella, where she lived with her mother and David Spears. Based in part on Collings’ statement, the affidavit sent to the prosecutor alleges that the men took Rowan from her home to a camping trailer where Collings lived in Barry County. [Read more...]

In what amounts to no surprise, Rowan Ford's body was found in a sinkhole  on private property about 10 miles south of her Missouri hometown. Now, the only surprise will be if the police end up arresting anyone else ASIDE from the step-father, David Spears.

I wanted to get this story posted now, before the stepfather is eventually charged, or I am totally surprised that someone else is.

Rowan Ford, 9, was last seen by her mother, Colleen Spears, as she was getting ready for bed around 8:30 p.m. FridayFriday reviews. Colleen then left for her job at a Wal-Mart store. Rowan’s stepfather, David Spears, left the home with two male friends around 10:45 p.m. David Spears told investigators that he looked in on the girl in her bedroom before leaving, and she was sleeping.

David returns home at around midnight, but does not check on the girl. He calls his mother at around 1 a.m. so that he could borrow her car. She brings him the car and waits in the house watching TV, never checking on the girl, for 5 hours, when her son gets back around 7 a.m. MotherMother reviews gets home around 9 a.m. and is not greeted by her daughter like she normally is and wakes up David.
