Missing Woman Found Dead Committed Suicide By Inhaling Helium
December 11, 2012 at 9:02 am by Morbid
MILLBOURNE, PA – Authorities are saying a 44-year-old woman, whose body was found in a Pennsylvania state park almost a week after being reported missing, committed suicide by inhaling helium gas.
A man contacted police on December 2 to report that he had returned home and was unable to find his girlfriend, Teresa Mastracola.
He’d last seen her that morning as she left for Delaware County Memorial Hospital where she worked as an imaging Equipment Specialist, and her co-workers reported that Mastracola never showed up for work that day.
Police did not immediately treat the woman’s disappearance as suspicious because Mastracola, a Master Sergeant with the National Guard, was an avid hiker and would often spend days out in the woods. But this past Saturday, her body was found in a heavily wooded area deep in Ridley Creek State Park.
Authorities have not released all the details surrounding her death, but are confident foul play was not involved, and that the woman had committed suicide. Coroner Frederic Hellman listed her cause of death as chemical asphyxia from helium inhalation.…

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA – A woman in Pennsylvania was charged after she allegedly cut up her boyfriend after he tried leaving her apartment with the last beer.
Vanessa Robinson is behind bars on aggravated assault charges after police say she and her boyfriend, James Gallone, got into a fight last Thursday inside Robinson’s apartment.
Gallone made the mistake of grabbing the last Colt 45 from Robinson’s fridge as he was leaving her apartment. Even though he had paid for it, this move went over about as well as the time someone took Jaded‘s last piece of bacon.
Robinson told Gallone that she didn’t care if he left, but that he was doing so without the beer. The resulting argument escalated into a physical confrontation between the two. After some kicking and punching, the beer was poured onto the ground. That went over about as well as the time time someone took Jaded’s last piece of bacon and then fed it to their dog.
Robinson grabbed a knife and began attacking her boyfriend with it. “She cut him in the arm, neck, back and stomach areas prior to him being able to disarm her,”Trooper Limani said.…

December 3, 2012 at 3:36 pm by Morbid
COUDERSPORT, PA – An elementary school music teacher walked into a Sunday church service and shot his ex-wife while she played the organ. He returned minutes later and shot her again to ensure she was dead.
Darlene Sitler, 53, was seated at the organ during the Sunday morning service at First United Presbyterian Church of Coudersport when her ex husband, 53-year-old Gregory Eldred, walked in through a rear door behind the choir.
According to the pastor, Eldred leveled a handgun at Sitler and then shot her. Sitler fell into the organ pit as Eldred walked out of the church. Witnesses say he went to his truck in the parking lot but returned five minutes later.
Some of the congregation tried to keep Eldred from entering, but Eldred said he had to “finish this” and threatened to kill anyone who got in his way. He then walked over to his ex-wife, who was believed to still be alive, saying, “I got to see if she’s dead,” before shooting at her two more times.
Having had enough of his antics, the members of the church where finally able to subdue Eldred and take the gun away from him.…

November 29, 2012 at 11:35 am by Morbid
Pittsburgh, PA — The mother of the 2-year-old boy who fell into a pit of African wild dogs while visiting the Pittsburgh Zoo, and was subsequently mauled to death, will not be facing charges.
Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. said that Maddox Derkosh’s death at the zoo was a “tragic accident” and that they would not be charging his mother, 34-year-old Elizabeth Derkosh. However, authorities are still investigating the zoo for possible criminal negligence.
The attack happened earlier this month while Maddox was with his family visiting the zoo. While at the African dog exhibit, Maddox’s mother placed him on top of the viewing deck’s railing. The boy wore glasses and she wanted Maddox to get a better view. And man, did he ever.
Witnesses say that Maddox lurched forward, as if he thought there was some sort of clear barrier to stop him, and ended up going over the rail. After bouncing out of a small safety net designed to catch small items like cameras and phones, Maddox landed 11 ft below and was immediately attacked by 11 dogs.…

Pittsburgh, PA — A 2-year-old boy met a horrific end on yesterday after he fell into the African painted dog exhibit at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium and was subsequently mauled to death as relatives and bystanders watched, unable to help the boy.
The attack happened at about 11:45 a.m. Sunday after the boy’s mother picked him up and placed him on top of a railing at the edge of a viewing deck so that he could get a better view of the dogs. “Almost immediately after that he lost his balance, fell down off the railing into the pit, and he was immediately attacked by 11 dogs,” Lt. Kevin Kraus of the Pittsburgh police said. “It was very horrific.”
The boy fell 11 to 14 feet from the railing to the ground below, and it’s not yet known if it was the fall that killed the boy, or the pack of dogs that mauled him. Here’s an image of the viewing deck. It doesn’t look like it was high enough for a fatal fall, so one can only hope the boy was unconscious after he hit the ground and did not experience the attack that followed.…

Freedom, PA – Last month we reported on Thomas Grant, the man who shot an 9-year-old relative at a Halloween party because he thought the costumed girl was a skunk. Today it is being reported that Grant will be headed to trial after he waived his preliminary hearing.
New Sewickley Police Chief Ronald Leindecker said the girl was at a Halloween party wearing a black costume and a black hat equipped with white tassel or feather. At around 8:30 that evening, the girl strayed away from the two to three dozen guests at the home and hid on the edge of a hill near the home.
Around that same time, 24-year-old Thomas Grant says his mother told him she heard there was a skunk in the yard. So Grant picked up a shotgun and fired at what he thought was a rather large skunk, striking his 9-year-old cousin in the shoulder, arm, back and neck.
She was flown to a children’s hospital in critical condition, but is now recovering and reportedly doing well.…

FREEDOM, PA – A 9-year-old girl attending a Halloween party was shot by a relative who mistakenly thought the girl was a skunk.
New Sewickley Police Chief Ronald Leindecker said the girl was at a Halloween party Saturday wearing a black costume and a black hat with white tassel. At around 8:30 that evening, the girl strayed away from the two to three dozen guests at the home and hid on the edge of a hill near the home.
Unfortunately for her, a male relative at the party thought she was a skunk, and he really does not like skunks. The unidentified man grabbed a shotgun and fired, hitting the “skunk” in the shoulder, arm, back and neck.
She was reportedly conscious and talking as she was airlifted to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh where she currently remains in the intensive car unit. Leindecker says the relative hadn’t been drinking at the time of the shooting, and he doesn’t know if any charges will be filed against him.
I’m not sure how big skunks get in Pennsylvania, but where I live they never get much bigger than an average cat.…

October 10, 2012 at 9:34 am by Morbid
Pittsburgh, PA – Last week we reported on the juvenile who sucker punched a Kansas City Metro bus driver (he was eventually caught and charged with assault) and now we have a similar incident out of Pittsburgh, where a 15-year-old was arrested after surveillance cameras captured him sucker punching a teacher in a downtown alley.
Jim Addlespurger is a 50-year-old English teacher at Creating and Performing Arts School. Last Thursday, in the middle of the day, he was walking down an alley when he passed by six teens coming from the opposite direction. As the surveillance video below shows, one of the teens steps in Addlespurger’s path and then sucker punches him in the face.
No one was in the other’s way, and no words had been exchanged before the cowardly assault. “It appears to be a random act but this juvenile has a track record, already has, for example, a probation officer,” said Joanna Doven, spokeswoman for Mayor Luke Ravenstahl.
After eating the teen’s fist, Addlespurger can be seen toppling to the ground, striking his face and head on the curb while the teens nonchalantly walk away, laughing.…

WILKES-BARRE, PA – In the comment section of a recent teen suicide we reported on, the subject of suicides being contagious came up. I didn’t know it at the time, but Luzerne County has lost four teenagers to suicide in the last week, all within 30 miles of each other.
If there are any inaccuracies with the following details, I apologize. I had to read about fifteen different articles and a ton of comments just to hash everything out.
On Sept. 18, 13-year-old Joshuah Delos Santos from Nanticoke shot himself. Bullying seems to be involved, although officials say they have not seen any proof of that. But over at the Joshuah Delos Santos Memorial Fund, his cousin reportedly stated otherwise. “The morning of September 18, 2012, my cousin Joshuah Allen Delos Santos decided to end his life because he was being bullied,” she said. Comments on a Facebook tribute page echoed her claims.
On Sept. 21, in Jenkins Township, 16-year-old Matthew Montagna used a hunting rifle to kill himself at his home. He was a junior at Pittston Area High School and played football for the Pittston Panthers for three years. Again, the subject of bullying was brought up by his peers as well as on a Facebook tribute page.…

GREENSBURG, PA – Back in 2010 we reported on the torture and murder of Jennifer Daugherty. She was a 30-year-old mentally disabled woman who was tortured to death by a group of people she considered friends. For 36 hours, she was held in a dingy apartment and tortured before she was stabbed to death.
While bound by Christmas decorations, Daugherty was forced her to eat feces, urine and detergent. She was repeatedly beat with a towel rack, a vacuum cleaner hose, and a crutch. Her head was shaved and her face painted with nail polish. After being forced to write a fake suicide note, she was stabbed to death. Her body was discovered stuffed in a trash can that had been wedged underneath a car parked in the parking lot of Greensburg Salem Middle School.
Eventually police would arrest six people in connection to Daugherty’s torture and murder. Amber C. Meidinger, 20; Melvin Knight, 20; Ricky V. Smyrnes, 23; and Peggy Darlene Miller, 27, were all charged with homicide, conspiracy and aggravated assault. Robert Loren Masters, 39, and Angela Marinucci, 17, were charged with criminal conspiracy.…

LEHIGH COUNTY, PA – In what some may call a mercy killing, a woman in Pennsylvania was charged with the stabbing death of her fiancé, hours before they were to be married.
Hours before 31-year-old Na Cola Darcel Franklin and 36-year-old Billy Brewster were supposed to be married Saturday morning, Franklin allegedly used a knife to stab Brewster in the heart during an early morning argument.
According Monique Kali, the wife of Brewster’s cousin, the couple got into an argument inside the apartment they shared. When she heard someone yell “knife!” she went to investigate. She told police she saw her husband standing between Brewster, who was bleeding from his side, and Franklin, who was waving a knife around. Not wanting to see her husband stabbed, Kali tackled Franklin to the ground while her husband took the knife away from Franklin.
Police would arrive on the scene to find Brewster bleeding to death from two stab wounds, one of which had punctured his heart. He was pronounced dead at the hospital an hour later and Franklin was arrested on one count of homicide.…

PALMYRA, Pa. - I normally don’t like posting missing adult stories, but since there really isn’t anything else going on today I feel like writing about, here’s one making the rounds today.
Kortne Stouffer, 21, vanished from her apartment in the early morning hours of July 29 after hanging out with a group of friends. Stouffer had returned to her apartment with an old friend she had reconnected with recently when, at around 3 a.m., she got into an altercation with her downstairs neighbor over her dog. Police were called and they ended up telling both Stouffer and her neighbors to return to their apartments.
An hour later, the downstairs neighbors made a second call to 911 because they heard “stomping and banging” coming from Stouffer’s apartment. When police arrived they found the lights were off in Stouffer’s apartment and no one answered the door when they knocked. So they left.
At 7:30, the man who stayed the night with Stouffer says he woke up to find her gone and left. He was captured on surveillance camera inside a nearby convenience store where he texted Stouffer: “”I left.…
Continue ReadingTwo Women Charged After Lesbian Love Triangle Ends With A Leg Beaten And Buried Alive
July 30, 2012 at 2:37 pm by Morbid
Cochranton, PA - A lesbian couple will stand trial for the brutal beating death of 20-year-old Brandy Stevens-Rosine, the third leg of their lesbian love triangle.
Stevens-Rosine had dated 18-year-old Jade Olmstead for about a year, but the relationship had ended with Olmstead moving in with 20-year-old Ashley Barber (pictured) at Barber’s house 75 miles away in Pennsylvania. Although they were broke up, Olmstead and Stevens-Rosine stayed in contact and Stevens-Rosine still did favors for Olmstead whenever asked.
On May 17, Stevens-Rosine accepted an invitation by Olmstead to visit her at her new home. Stevens must have sensed something was wrong because after making the 75-mile trip and arriving at her destination, she texted a friend that she had a “funny feeling.” Not heeding the warning, Stevens-Rosine was lured out to a nearby wooded area under the guise of Barber and Olmstead wanting to show Stevens-Rosine a fort they were building.
Instead, Stevens-Rosine was beat mercilessly by Olmsted and Barber, who kicked and punched her to the point of Stevens-Rosine screaming and begging for her life.…

ALTOONA, PA – It’s amazing that God sees to it that couples able to provide a loving household for a child are not able to conceive or adopt one, but will seemingly ensure the biggest morons are equipped with vaginas capable of shooting out babies like a rapid-fire Pez dispenser.
Case in point, 31-year-old Carla Murphy. Two days after this picture was taken of Murphy and her new baby, hospital staff called police when she began shouting, cursing and being aggressive towards several nurses. Believing she was on some kind of drugs that they did not give her, doctors decided to keep her at the hospital to be evaluated by mental health professionals.
As they were escorting her back to her room, Murphy ran into the bathroom where she stripped naked and began rolling around on the floor. She was unable to answer basic questions, but began berating the nurses helping her to her room as well as the responding police officers. After telling police they could search her belongings, they searched her purse and found a dismantled black pen with residue of a substance inside, a lighter and some white powder that Murphy called Disco – a street name for bath salts.…

BELLEFONTE, Pa. - I’ve pretty much stayed away from the Jerry Sandusky updates because he’s everywhere already and there really wasn’t much more we could add. But some news outlets are reporting today that while he was being housed in Centre County Correctional Facility awaiting his trial, the inmates there would taunt him by singing songs to him.
As everyone knows by now, the 68-year-old tickle monster was once the assistant football coach for Penn State. He was charged with raping young boys over a 15 years period, seemingly unhindered, and possibly after once being caught with his dick in the proverbial cookie jar. His trial wrapped up the other day and the jury found him guilty of 45 of the 48 charges against him.
Sandusky is now back in Centre County Correctional Facility waiting to be sentenced and an inmate there says the last time Sandusky was visiting, the inmates taunted him by singing Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall.
“At night, we were singing ‘Hey, teacher, leave those kids alone,’ ” an inmate named “Josh” said.…

Pennsylvania – Police have charged a man for assaulting a child and the child’s mother after he got hit with a water balloon.
According to reports, after a 9-year-old boy hit 33-year-old Joe Mongeon with a water balloon, Mongeon laughed and said, “Good one, kid!”
With his shirt soaked and water dripping from his face, Mongeon called a time out and the two sat side-by-side on the sidewalk. As they each enjoyed a Coke and let the sun dry them off, the pair laughed together as they watched other kids continuing the water fight.
Later, when the boy was much older, this would be one of those pleasant, simple memories that stick around for no particular reason, usually recalled on warm, summer days while playing similar games with his two sons.
As they dodged in and out of a sprinkler while trying, half-heartedly, not to get hit by the water from the hose he was wielding, it would bring him back to that day with Mongeon and the water balloons, reminding him of a simpler time in his life when things seemed full of a innocence and wonder that he had long outgrown.…

May 29, 2012 at 11:14 am by Morbid
Philadelphia, PA – Police in Philadelphia have accused a woman of killing her twin babies, and attempting to kill her young daughter, after learning the children’s father was having an affair with one of her family members.
After returning home from work last Thursday, Ronald Smalls found that his wife, 41-year-old Stacey Smalls, had murdered their twins, tried to poison their 4-year-old daughter, and had slit her own wrists. Police believe Smalls, a former corrections officer who worked at a nursing home, strangled one twin and drowned the other.
She also tried to poison their 4-year-old by having her ingest a poisoned drink. The girl probably saved her own life after becoming suspicious and refusing to drink all of it. She was admitted to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and is expected to be released to her father.
Smalls was taken to the hospital after unsuccessfully trying to take her own life by slitting her wrists. She is currently in police custody on two counts of 1st-degree murder and is on a suicide watch.…

May 25, 2012 at 8:55 am by Ginny Leigh
AVALON, PA – There’s really not a whole lot to this story, but it made me giggle, so you get to hear about it.
A Rankin Pennsylvania cop is scheduled for a preliminary hearing today because he allegedly broke into his neighbor’s home to do laundry.
The neighbor called police after noting that his electric bill was unusually high even though he had not actually been living in the home for months. Upon returning to the house to investigate, the man found the dryer running.
Inside the dryer was a load of clothing that included the police uniform of Officer Jason Rocco, as well as his Marine Corps t-shirts.
Investigating officers believe that Rocco broke into the home using the back door, but when questioned, Rocco said that the door was already broken and that he “just had to do some laundry.”
At the close of interview Avalon police say that Rocco requested his clothing back from investigators.
Officer Rocco was charged with trespassing and criminal mischief. He was arraigned on May 19 and was released on his own recognizance.…

Philadelphia, PA – A man got himself into some trouble after throwing a child-like temper tantrum inside a Philadelphia donut shop and throwing a cup of hot coffee in the face of the clerk arguing with him over an unpaid sandwich.
The incident happened earlier this month inside the Fresh Donuts store in West Philadelphia and it was all captured on tape. The man, 52-year-old David Timbers, can be seen arguing with the clerk over a $2.40 sandwich that he insisted he paid for.
When the clerk, 27-year-old Sukia Luy, continues to insist that he had not paid for the sandwich, Timbers grabs a cup of hot coffee and throws it in her face. Luckily she had quick reflexes and only suffered second-degree burns to the arm she used to shield her face.
The store owner confronted Timbers who can be heard responding, “I don’t give a (expletive). I paid her! She told me I didn’t, so she can take that and keep the sandwich.”
Eyewitnesses say that the owner tried to stop Timbers from leaving, but Timbers and another man got into a gold Cadillac and left before police arrived.…

May 14, 2012 at 9:08 am by kniption
Palmer Township, PA - A woman has been charged after being accused of assaulting her husband with a vacuum attachment because of a dispute over his facial hair.
According to court records, Joyce Speciale-Detweiler, 53, was arrested after police responded to a report of a domestic dispute between a man and a woman at 4:13 p.m. Sunday on May 6. Officers made contact with a man outside the residence who had visible marks consistent with a recent assault and a torn shirt. It was not reported if he or neighbors called police.
The man, identified as Donald Detweiler (not pictured), told police he was sitting outside the house when his wife began to argue with him about his “facial hair style.” According to the police report, he told her he planned to shave later in the day.
In response, Speciale-Detweiler reportedly retrieved a ‘vacuum pole’ from inside the house and struck him in the head and neck areas. Police said that – after repeated blows – the vacuum pole broke. Police documents say that Speciale-Detweiler then began assaulting her husband with her hands.…
