It happened Saturday afternoon at Whittier’s Penn Park as a bridal party had gathered near a 100-foot eucalyptus tree to take a group photo.
For reasons currently being investigated, the tree fell over and trapped up to 20 people. One person, currently being reported as the mother of the bride, was killed.
Gilbert Duran posted on Facebook that he helped pull the woman from under the tree, saying he was pretty sure she was already dead.
“They’re taking pictures under this tree and all of a sudden it jut collapsed,” Duran said. “We just watched some little kids go flat underneath that tree.”
Five other people suffered minor and moderate injuries, including a 4-year-old girl who was reportedly in critical condition due to a head injury.
Why the tree fell is unknown at this time, but officials said it probably the California drought could have weakened the 50-year-old tree.…
NEW YORK, NY – All criminal charges have been dropped against five teenage boys accused of gang raping an 18-year-old girl in a Brooklyn park, after the she admitted the sex with the teens was consensual – as was the sex with her father.
For those of you who have not been following this story, the five teens were arrested after she told police that she and her father were confronted by a group of teens in a Brooklyn park. She alleged that the teens used a gun to run her father off before they gang-raped her inside the park.
The boys ended up charged with rape, criminal sex act, sexual abuse and other charges. Their names were released and their pictured plastered all over the news articles.
As you can imagine, the comments on the initial news articles reporting on the incident were filled with people wanting the boys’ heads on a silver platter. But the story took a twist when the teens said the sex was consensual and that when they arrived at the park, the girl was having sex with her own father.…
DALLAS, TX – Thomas Johnson, a former Texas A&M football player, has been accused of hacking a random jogger to death with a machete “because he was angry about his living conditions.”
Police say Johnson has admitted to the slaying, which was witnessed by a passing cyclist who said he saw Johnson deal six or seven blows with a machete.
“As I get closer and closer I could tell it was a machete and there are repeated blows that are occurring. As I get closer, I could see what’s being hit is a person, lying face down on the ground,” the witness said. “It was apparent to me by the time I got close that there was nothing that could be done for the person.”
The witness said he heard the killer call out to him as he passed the horrific scene, but he wasn’t about to stick around to see what he wanted.
“I heard a little bit of a yell from behind. I assume it was the guy with the machete yelling to stop,” he said.…
The 46-year-old got himself into trouble after several people at Stoke Green Park witnessed him having sex with a slide and called police. He was arrested and later pleaded guilty to outraging public decency by behaving in an indecent manner.
He received a three-year criminal behavior order which banned him from any location that has a slide, including parks, swimming pools and playgrounds. Johnson was also ordered to pay approximately $580 in fines and court fees, and must undergo an 18 month sex offender treatment program.
This isn’t the first time the parking lot attendant has run into trouble because of his peculiar fetish. In July of last year, he pleaded guilty to a similar charge after he got caught getting his groove on with a slide in a different park.
He’s also not the first person we’ve featured on Dreamin’ Demon who got into trouble for having sex with inanimate objects.…
DEFOREST, WI – Theodore Peterson, 47, killed his disabled, teenage son before shooting himself in the head with a nail gun at Token Creek County Park.
On July 21, Peterson sent his wife a text saying he was at the park taking their 16-year-old son Maxwell for a walk. Maxwell suffered from Angelman syndrome, a rare neuro-genetic disorder that requires lifelong care.
While there, Peterson killed Maxwell by slitting his throat with a knife, then used a nail gun to shoot himself in the head. Peterson didn’t do as good of a job on himself as he did with his son, as he was still alive when a woman riding a horse found the pair lying on a trail.
Peterson was flown by helicopter to University of Wisconsin hospital where he was charged with the murder of his son before dying of his injuries a day or so later. No official word on a motive behind Peterson’s actions, but his wife told police that a respite care provider for Maxwell was no longer allowing a female worker into the Peterson home because of something posted on Facebook.…
LAKELAND, FL – Police have charged 32-year-old Crystal Kinder with two counts of kidnapping after she took two young kids from a local park.
On Monday afternoon, three, young cousins where playing at Parker Street Park when they were approached by Kinder. In a matter of minutes, Kinder had walked off with two of the kids – ages three and five.
“Unfortunately they weren’t supervised for a few minutes, and that was just enough time for her to come up, see these kids, and she carried one and held the other by the hand, and she walked off,” Lakeland Police Sgt. Gary Gross said.
The third child told a family member, 25-year-old Keith Campbell, that his two cousins were missing. Campbell asked others if they had seen where the two kids went, and he was pointed in the direction they had left with Kinder.
Luckily, Campbell located Kinder with the two children six blocks away at the Best Motel. Kinder gave the children back to Campbell unharmed and without incident.…
UPPER DARBY, PA – A teen who tried to rob an old man with a toy gun has died after the intended victim used his real gun to shoot the teenager in the head.
The shooting happened Wednesday afternoon when a 67-year-old man walking in Cobbs Creek park was confronted by 18-year-old Tyler Williams.
“As he turns around, he sees a masked man with a gun pointed at him saying, ‘Give it up, give me all you got,” said Supt. Michael Chitwood, Upper Darby Township Police.
The old man didn’t comply with the teen’s demands, but rather grabbed the teen’s gun. The two got into a struggle that ended when the victim pulled out his very real, .38 caliber handgun, and used it to shoot the teen in the head.
The man then walked out of the park and called 911 and Williams would die at the scene.
Chitwood said the teen was found with half a dozen cell phones and that the toy gun he was using looked so real that police at the scene didn’t know it was a fake until they got a closer look at it.…
PORT SALERNO, FL — Police are looking for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl in a neighborhood park after using the “help me find my dog” routine.
The girl was playing with her two younger sisters at Manatee Creek Park on Sunday when she was approached by a man who asked her to help find his dog in the woods.
Once in the woods at the back of the park, the man pulled the girl’s pants down and sexually assaulted her for about five minutes. He let her go after she began struggling and yelling for help.
The girl ran to her home located across the street from the park and told her mother what happened. The mother and the girl got in the car and headed back to the park while the mother called 911 to report what happened.
The dispatcher asked the mother to return to her home because a deputy was on the way to her home to interview the girl while several others would search the woods behind the park.…
PORT RICHEY, FL — A mother in Florida is praising a group of teenagers for possibly saving the lives of two children after a man tried grabbing them while they were visiting a local park.
At around dusk Saturday, 28-year-old Sharaya Smith said she’d taken her young daughter and nephew to play at Lake Lisa Park and eat pizza. As they walked through the park’s parking lot, she noticed a group of teenagers playing loud music, kissing and cursing. “We’re trying to have a pizza party,” Smith remembers telling them. “And my kids don’t need to hear your mouths.”
A short while later, while her daughter and nephew played on a slide, she noticed 34-year-old Bienvenido Cintron nearby. He was disheveled, wearing a tan trench coat, and spouting out verses from the Bible he was carrying. Cintron made his way over to Smith, who had already collected the two children, and began yelling at her, stating he was Obama and was sent to rid the world of drug dealers and prostitutes.…
Fairfield, CA — Slow news day today. Aside from that nut in the bunker getting himself dead, I couldn’t really find anything I felt like writing up. But I did find one story out of California that doesn’t seem to be getting covered by the major news outlets, and that’s the death of 13-year-old Genelle Conway Allen.
Genelle was in foster care and reported missing on Thursday after she didn’t return home from Green Valley Middle School. On Friday, her nude body was found lying face down on a cement median in Allan Witt Park.
“I got closer and closer. And the closer I got to her, the more it became real. And then I got right up to her, and I realized that was a human body,” said Eric May who initially thought Genelle’s body was a mannequin. “I tried to wake her up. I did. Absolutely. Look, I got three layers of clothes on. I know how to survive the cold. I was ready to take my outer clothes off and give it to her.”
There aren’t a lot of details, but reports are that Genelle was strangled. …
NEW BADEN, IL — Police in Illinois are trying to locate a couple of teenagers accused of using a skateboard to kill a 6-month-old kitten at a local park.
The owners say the kitten, named Tomale, wandered from their home and ended up a couple blocks away at a city park. Tomale’s owners eventually made their way to the park while searching for the kitten and ran into a group of kids there who informed them Tomale was dead and currently residing in a nearby trash can.
According to the kids, Tomale had been killed after a teen at the park pitched the kitten towards another teen who used a skateboard as a baseball bat. Horrified, they checked inside the trash can and sure enough, there was Tomale — it’s neck broken with blood and foam coming from its mouth.
“It was the hardest thing I had to do was to pull a kitten that we had just gotten for our kids out of a trash can and find out that some kids who were supposed to be up here skating, just doing innocent stuff, could sit there and murder a kitten,” sobbed Kristin Neu.…
A 21-year-old was in Blue Rock Springs Park Friday night with friends when he bet $100 he could fit his ass into a child’s swing. You know, the plastic ones made for toddlers that are equipped with leg holes.
The man lubed himself up with some laundry detergent and successfully squeezed himself into the swing, winning the $100. Unfortunately, his winning will barely cover the costs of having to be rescued by Vallejo fighters. See, the man got stuck in the swing. Even worse, the man has douchebag friends who did what I would have done when they left him stuck in the swing.
He would not be found until 9 hours later after a park employee arrived and called police upon hearing the man’s screams for help. Ok, up to this point the story is kind of humorous to me. But what happened next is the hilarious part.…
SAN DIEGO, CA — Two 16-year-old boys have pleaded not guilty to raping two teenage girls at knife-point in a San Diego park.
Leonel Contreras and William Rodriguez, both in the country illegally (Dun Dun DUN!), have been charged with 16 felony charges, including kidnapping, rape, sodomy and oral copulation. They were charged as adults and could face 325 years to life behind bars if convicted.
Police say that two girls, ages 15 and 16, had been attending a family birthday party on Sept 3 and walked to a nearby park at around 8:15 p.m.
Prosecutors claim that after walking by Contreras and Rodriguez, who they did not know, the two boys came up from behind and immediately ordered the girls into a secluded area.
There the two boys sexually assaulted the girls at knife-point for 30 to 40 minutes. “This included every kind of rape you could imagine,” the prosecutor told the judge.
They only stopped their assault when some of the girls’ family members began calling their names.…
Indianapolis, Ind. — Last week we reported on two separate incidents in which men got involved in fights involving their teen sons. One I did not get to involved two mothers who have also found themselves in legal trouble after video of their two daughters fighting made its way onto Facebook.
Because they were both present at the fight, and were recorded egging their daughters on, they are now facing a felony charges.
Brandy Mills says she drove her teen daughter to Harter Park to talk with Teresa Mendenhall and her teen daughter regarding one of Mill’s younger daughters being bullied. Mills claims “talks” quickly became violent.
As you can see on the video, the two teenagers start scrapping and the one in pink delivers a Jenelle Evans style beatdown on fatty. During the fight, you can even hear Mills making a statement she is now regretting.
“I said I’ll beat the crap out of you if you don’t pretty much take care of her,” Mills told reporter Ann Keil.…
Gilbert, AZ — Police have arrested a man after they say he refereed a fight between his two sons and another boy while using a handgun to keep the crowd from stopping the fight.
Police say Gabriel Alberto Conde, 33, went with his two sons, ages 14 and 17, to a local park so that the younger boy could fight another 14-year-old boy.
When Conde’s son began to lose the fight, he instructed the older sibling to help his brother. While the two teens held the other boy on the ground, repeatedly kicking him in the head and breaking his jaw, Conde allegedly kept the crowd at bay by threatening them with a .45 handgun.
When police arrived at Conde’s home later, he refused to come outside until after police surrounded his residence and ordered him out using a loudspeaker.
Conde was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, threatening and intimidating, disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. His two sons are facing charges of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.…
Omaha, Nebraska — We do so many stories here every day that sometimes I forget when I am waiting on an update. One story in particular was the one I posted about in June in which two boys, ages 12 and 13, were charged with filming themselves sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl in a neighborhood park.
When we first reported on it, the 12-year-old was ordered to be held in a juvenile facility while the 13-year-old got to stay home with his parents over the Fourth of July holidays. I had forgotten about the entire thing until today when a reader emailed us with an update.
For those of you not familiar with this story, a 5-year-old girl and her 7-year-old brother were lured to a drainage ditch by the two older boys at a park near the victim’s home. The older boys reportedly threatened to beat up the younger pair if they didn’t do what they said. They then used their cell phones to record themselves sexually assaulting the girl.…
Omaha, Nebraska — One of our readers sent us a few links to a story going on in Omaha that I thought the rest of you would find interesting. It details an incident where two young boys, ages 12 and 13, have been accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl in a neighborhood park.
It all started on June 14th, when the little girl and her 7-year-old brother were lured to a drainage ditch by the two older boys. Initial reports were that the two boys threatened to beat up the younger pair if they didn’t do what they said. They then made the siblings pull down their pants and used their cellphones to record the girl’s private area. Later it was revealed the assault included penetration, fondling and worst of all, forcing the young girl to perform oral sex on them as well as her brother.
The brother and sister ran home after the assault and told their mother who then called police. They were able to quickly locate the boys and arrest them.…
ASHEBORO, N.C. — Laura Hunsucker, 23, told police that while she was at Frazier Park Sunday afternoon with her children, a woman snatched her 4-year-old daughter from a swing while she was getting one of her other children out of their stroller.
Hunsucker said she chased after the woman, described as a Hispanic female wearing a green shirt and pink pants, who eventually let go of her daughter but continued running away. Not surprisingly, the Asheboro Police Department dispatched numerous officers to the scene as the attempted abduction was reported, but they were unable to find the evil, Hispanic toddler taker.
Even though Hunsucker was lucky and was able to retrieved her daughter unharmed, parents were put on edge as news broke of a woman trying to snatch children of off Frazier Park playground equipment and forcing them into a life of making Nike soccer balls.
Here’s one of the original newscasts of the failed abduction:
Now it’s being reported Hunsucker made the entire thing up. Hunsucker admitted to police that she panicked and made up the story after her child had gotten away from her.…
