FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – People eating their lunch at Hooters and Fat Tuesday on Fort Lauderdale’s beach were witnesses to the horrific end of a domestic dispute as a man opened fire on his sister before turning the gun on himself. Police say that Juan Alicea Orozco, 23, and his sister, 25-year-old Jesnishia Alicea Orozco, were visiting their mother at the Beach Place cigar stand where she works at the main entrance of the beachfront shopping and entertainment complex. The siblings were arguing about money and living arrangements stemming from Orozco’s landlord having begun proceedings to have him evicted from a rental property. Their mother told police that after she turned away from the pair she heard multiple shots. When she looked back she saw both of her children laying on the ground in a pool of blood. “”He just leaned over … and shot two more shots into the girl,” said witness Lori Podewell, a tourist from Illinois. Both were taken to Broward General Medical Center where Juan would die shortly after arriving.…

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Monica McCarrick, 28, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of murder, accused of using a sword to stab her twin 3-year-old daughters to death, nearly decapitating one of them, before attempting using the sword to slash her own throat and wrists and setting a closet on fire. Firefighters found McCarrick and the bodies of her two dead children Tuesday evening after responding to reports of a fire in McCarrick’s apartment. She allegedly placed Lily and Tori’s bodies against the front door to prevent anyone from gaining access inside. She was taken to John Muir Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Once she gets out of the hospital, she will be placed in jail on two counts of murder, two counts of child abuse resulting in death, and one count each of arson and destruction of evidence. Aside from reports McCarrick had just recently moved into the apartment, little details are being released regarding McCarrick and her family. “Out of respect for the families involved, we will be offering a limited amount of information today,” police Lt.…

COQUILLE, ORE – Police say that they have found the killer of an Oregon teenager whose murder has remained unsolved for a decade. Leah Freeman, 15, was walking home from a friend’s house on the evening of June 29, 2000, when she disappeared. The only clue left behind was a single tennis shoe found on the sidewalk. Searches were conducted but it wasn’t until Aug. 3, 2000 that her body would be found in a wooded area 8-miles away. An autopsy revealed that she died as a result of “homicidal violence.” Her boyfriend, Nick McGuffin, would be questioned as he was the one she was to meet that night, but lack of any solid evidence would lead to no charges being filed and the case going cold. That is until January when a cold case division took another look at the case and questioned witnesses again and re-analyzed evidence with today’s newer technologies. Long story short, Nick McGuffin, now 28, has been charged with her murder. He is currently being held on $2 million bail and has a status hearing scheduled for Thursday.…

Mesa, AZ – Police say that after an argument over chores, 21-year-old Aaron Farinacci shot and killed his father before turning the gun on himself. Aaron’s mother, Beth, told police that she and her husband, 48-year-old Jeffrey, had argued with Aaron about his refusal to do the dishes Monday evening. In the middle of the bickering, Aaron pitched a fit and stomped off to his parents bedroom and locked the door. When Jeffrey unlocked the door and entered the bedroom, Aaron pulled a gun out of the nightstand and shot him. Beth told police she heard two shots – she also heard her husband calling for her, telling her to call 911 because he’d been shot. She walked to the bedroom to check on Jeffrey, but backed away when Aaron pointed the gun at her. Her son ran past her and out of the house…police found him a couple blocks away, bleeding from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. Jeffrey died at the hospital later that same evening and Aaron remains hospitalized in critical condition.…

Hickory, NC – Hours after a fire was reported at the home of 10-year-old Zahra Baker on Saturday, her father called police to report her missing. Adam Baker and stepmother, Elisa Baker, told police they last saw Zahra in her bedroom. An Amber Alert was issued and and the FBI were brought in. Elisa Baker was subsequently arrested on charges not related to the case, but early reports were that the story Zahra’s parents were spinning just weren’t adding up. Now some people’s worst fears have come to fruition as police say the young girl’s disappearance is being treated as a homicide. They revealed that they’re really not sure how long Zahra has even been missing as no one, aside from her father and stepmother, has seen her for a month. During a news conference, Hickory Police Chief Tom Adkins also stated Elisa confessed to writing a ransom note found at the house and she has since requested a lawyer. Also, police dogs detected the smell of human remains on cars belonging to the father and stepmother.…

Man Kills Rock Throwing Teen

October 12, 2010 at 4:33 am by

Louisville, KY – Neighbors say 62-year-old Archie Ashley was merely trying to protect his property from a group of rock throwing teens late Saturday evening when he fired off a couple of rounds from his .22 – one of those rounds ended up in 15-year-old Andrew Elliot’s back. “Protecting his home; I mean he worked hard for his house,” said neighbor Toya Jackson. “He was taking care of his mother and she’s 87.” According to those same neighbors, Ashley spotted Elliot and his friends tossing rocks at his home and pick-up truck and verbally confronted the trio at least twice before the shootin’ commenced. Elliot was pronounced dead at the scene. Ashley has been booked on charges of wanton endangerment and murder. And because he is accused of collecting the shell casings and disposing of them, he’s also been charged with tampering with physical evidence. Ashley pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Monday and bond was set at $500,000.…

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police released the identities of the woman and her twin teens found dead inside their home on Monday. Renee Ogden, 38, and her two children, Chase and Olivia, both 13, were found murdered inside their home by Tommy Ogden when he returned home from work on Monday. Police have released a specific cause of death but did state that there was “obvious trauma to the bodies.” They also added that even though Tommy is co-operating with police in their investigation, no one has been ruled out as a suspect at this point nor has a murder-suicide been discounted. One news station did a criminal background check on Tommy, a former Fort Carson soldier, and found that he plead guilty to child abuse charges back in 2001. Not that this has anything to do with the murders, but still. The twins both attended The Galileo School of Math and Science and records show that they were absent from school on Monday. Another interesting note that may mean nothing at all came from Brad Ake.…

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. - — An 81-year-old man has been arrested and charged with beating his 94-year-old roommate to death at an Orange County nursing home. Police say that around 11:20 p.m. Friday at Palm Terrace Healthcare Center, William McDougall grabbed a metal bar used to hang clothes and repeatedly struck Manh Ban Nguyen in the head with it. Nguyen would be pronounced dead at the hospital. A motive for the attack is not known at this time, but McDougall is being held without bail, charged with suspicion of murder. I dunno what’s more troubling about this story…a man making it to 84 before deciding to commit murder, or a man making it to 94 only to have his brains bashed out by his roommate. I’m curious to see if they ever discover a motive, or if the reason for the attack is that McDougall is just delusional and thought Nguyen was Mitsumasa Yonai or something. If the latter, I bet the nursing home will be answering some tough questions.…

Philadelphia -- Towing companies in Philly don’s mess around it seems, with multiple stories in the news about competing companies fighting over territory and with each other. The latest involving a man who killed a rival towing employee by running him over with his tow-truck. Police said that 25-year-old Glen McDaniel, who worked for Straight Up Towing, and 30-year-old Ray Santiago, who worked for Siani’s towing, both ended filling up their tow trucks at the same gas station at the same time. Reportedly the two got into an argument over towing territories, and Santiago ended up leaving the gas station, pulling into O’Reilly’s Pub across the street. McDaniel followed him and for some senseless reason, he ran over Santiago. No quite satisfied, he put his truck in reverse and ran over him again, killing him. McDaniels was caught moments later after driving off and charged with murder, homicide by vehicle, and DUI. This isn’t McDaniels first run-in with the law over his temper — he was still on probation for a December charge of simple assault where he had been ordered to take anger management classes.…

PITTSBURGH – Bittersweet news for the friends and family of Laura Thompson, the 15-year-old single mother who went missing back in ’93. Thompson was last seen by her parents getting into a car with some men to go play cards and she was never heard from or seen since — most assuming she had simply run away. She is still listed on National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website along with an age progressed photo, but it is looking like she has been found. Two months ago, Shannon Marshall went to police and informed them that Thompson was dead. She had been raped and murdered and she had been present when her soon-to-be ex-husband, 39-year-old Joseph Marshall Jr., dug up her body back in ’93. She also claimed another man, 38-year-old Sean McDonough, was also involved and had been the one who raped the girl before she was murdered. Marshall helped police with their investigation into her claims, wearing a wiretap for a month, and on Monday both men were in police custody charged with murder.…

Houston, Texas — Leiah Jackson was 8-months pregnant when someone stabbed her over 20 times in the stomach killing both her and her unborn son. Somehow she was able to crawl from her home to the doorstep of her mother who lived in the same duplex. She would die on the doorstep, but not before giving details about her attacker. Police believe the person who killed Jackson is also responsible for the death of her fiancée, 30-year-old Yancy Daniels, who had been shot to death an hour earlier at a nearby apartment complex. Police have announced that they are questioning a suspect who was acquainted with Jackso and is probably responsible for Daniel’s death as well. “Once we get that physical evidence I truly believe we will make an arrest on this case,” Capt. John Bailey with Missouri City Police said. Jackson worked as a nurse’s aide at E.A. Jones Elementary, and grief counselors have been put in place for students and co-workers. I’ve included some video that has a couple graphic shots of Jackson’s blood on her mother’s doorstep.…

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. — A Florida man shot and killed his estranged wife and his four step-children before taking his own life, leaving two of his biological children unharmed. After getting kicked out of a club and then later a park, police say Patrick Dell, 41, entered a home early Monday morning and used a handgun to kill his wife, Natasha Whyte-Dell, 36, and four of her children: 10-year-old Daniel Barnett; 11-year-old Javon Nelson; 13-year-old Diane Barnett; and 14-year-old Bryan Barnett. FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – I’ve been holding of on this one because the details keep changing and it is just full of strange information. In a nutshell, Laura Johnson has been charged with second-degree murder, an alternative count of manslaughter and unauthorized practice of medicine in the death of her husband, attorney LLoyd Johnson, 47. He was brought to the hospital for what was reported as a heart attack, but two days later he was dead. What makes this story so odd is that aside from revealing he had high levels of opiates in his system, his cause of death is being reported as a stabbing, a poisoning, or both. But the “practice of medicine” charge is an interesting addition to the oddball list of shit found in the family’s home. Things like a dead dog, correspondence between Laura and Lloyd Johnson, bloodstained bedding, prescription medication, needles, a photo album with “injuries photo” as an entry, assorted medical and surgical supplies in the master bedroom, and frozen human tissue in the refrigerator.…

HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. — Early Tuesday morning, police were called out to the home of retired OB/GYNs, Margaret and Terje Buggeland. One of their sons had come home to find them dead. “My mom and dad are laying on the floor in my dad’s room and my brother’s gone,” Steven Buggeland told the 911 dispatcher (listen to call here). The missing brother is the couple’s live-in son. His name is Erik Buggeland and he is a 35-year-old, 6-foot tall, 375-pound paranoid schizophrenic. Police would really like to talk with him. His brother feels that intruders killed his parents and have abducted Erik, but police have not stated that nor have they named Erik as a suspect. They are asking the public to call them if you see Erik or the couple’s missing 2003 gold four-door Honda Accord with Kentucky license place 009-EDC. Police have the autopsy reports back but are keeping their mouths shut at this point. Here’s a story involving dead parents and their 6-foot tall, 375-pound crazy son right out of JUST BEFORE DAWN, with the last name of Buggeland.…

INDIANAPOLIS — I tried to get this story up earlier this week, but the site was being stupid and just made it impossible. So for those of you who had not heard already, a mother has been accused of locking her five malnourished children in an upstairs closet for over 10 hours while she went to visit a friend. The 6 feet wide and 2 feet deep closet had metal shutters for doors that 28-year-old Ebyan Farah had pushed a bed up against to keep the children from getting out. When she returned, she found 3-year-old son Zahariya and 5-year-old daughter Zuhur unresponsive and stiff. Instead of calling 911 or attempting to revive them, she carried their bodies downstairs. Police were only called hours later when a friend of the family saw one of the dead kids on a couch. When police arrived, both children were in full rigor mortis. No official cause of death has been released, but some are reporting the kids died from a combination of positional asphyxia, low levels of oxygen, heat and malnutrition. Kind of like the chick who got stuck in the chimney, if the chick had been one of those starving kids from Africa you see on television.…

Ventura, California — Police have arrested 25-year-old Blair Stockdill on suspicion she murdered her 8-year-old daughter then left her body inside the apartment for days before being discovered. Police were called to her apartment after someone called reporting a disturbance. When they arrived, the found Stockdill and a man believed to be her boyfriend arguing outside. She was armed with a knife, he was sporting stab wounds to his hands and arms. Neighbors say they heard him crying, “She killed her daughter.” When they went inside the apartment they found the body of Alaina Stockdill in the bathtub. The girl’s autopsy has been completed though the results have been delayed. Stockdill, who has a history with police, is rumored to have a drug problem and relatives say she has a history of mental illness. She had just recently regained custody of Alaina and now some are asking how. Ventura County Supervisor Steve Bennett is one of those people and has called on officials to investigate why Child Protect Services would allow her back with her mother.…

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. – Police have charged an 11-year-old baby sitter with felony murder and child cruelty in the death of 2-year-old Zyda White. The toddler died over the weekend after suffering blunt force trauma to the head. The girl’s mother called 911 after arriving to pick her up Saturday night. The babysitter, whose mother is a co-worker of the victim’s mother, said the injuries resulted from a fall off of a bed. But autopsy results did not support that. White’s mother told reporters she wants the accused to do life in prison but has probably learned by now that the maximum sentence allowed for someone under the age of 13 charged with murder is two years in a juvenile justice facility. So if it was an intentional act or not, she’ll be back home in no time. I am going to go out on a limb and guess that the place these two work at is pretty awkward at the moment. Also, do people regularly employ 11-year-old babysitters?…

ORLANDO, Fla. — The death of a 7-month-old boy has been ruled a homicide and his father, Keith Skinner, has been arrested and charged with his murder. Autopsy results released Tuesday by the Orange-Osceola Medical Examiner state Triumph Alexander Skinner’s manner of death as homicide. When the little boy was brought to the hospital, doctor’s noted he had suffered a perforated bowel and a severely fractured skull. They also added he had multiple fractured ribs in various stages of healing. He would die while in surgery. The mother first told police the boy had fallen and hit his head, but later told investigators Skinner had called her at work saying he had accidentally hurt the baby when he slammed his head into a couch. Skinner also told her to lie to police and told his 7-year-old daughter to tell police that he was not home when the baby was injured. Here’s the kicker — Skinner was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to child abuse back in 2004.…

INDIANAPOLIS — Any of you remember Andrew Conley? He’s the 17-year-old kid we reported on last year who was accused of strangling his 10-year-old brother. He would go on to confess that he had fantasized about killing since he was in the eighth-grade, identified himself with Dexter and according to the affadavit, killed his little brother because he felt he had to — likening the urge to kill to a hungry person satisfying a craving for a hamburger. Well he pleaded guilty to murder on Monday. He has made no deal with prosecutors and faces a minimum of 45 years in prison. Prosecutors want life without parole, calling Conley an evil psychopath who poses a threat to society if released. Police said Andrew confessed to placing Conner in a headlock causing him to pass out. He then dragged his brother to the kitchen where he strangled him for 20 minutes until he died. Andrew stuffed his body in a trunk then walked to his girlfriends house to giver her a promise ring.…

ENUMCLAW, Wash. – After leaving the Yella Beak Saloon where he and some friends had just celebrated his birthday, a young man hopped on his bike and began pedaling towards a nearby house to pick up his truck. At the same time, a 24-year-old man who had been at the same bar was driving with a passenger down the same road and accidentally struck the man on his bike, killing him. When the driver got out of his vehicle and realized he had just killed the man whose birthday party he just attended, he became so distraught that he got a gun out of his truck and killed himself alongside the road. Sgt. John Urquhart stated he believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. No names have been released that I could find, but I’ve included some video that shows the road that it happened on and the makeshift memorial that has been put up. …
