West Jordan, UT – Early Tuesday morning, Kathy and Brad Newbold awoke to find that their six-year-old daughter, Sierra, was missing. She wasn’t in her bed at the family’s suburban Salt Lake City home. She wasn’t anywhere. Kathy Newbold called police to report her daughter missing, and within a half hour, Sierra’s body was located in a canal a block from her house. Yesterday, an autopsy found that Sierra was sexually assaulted and murdered while her parents slept.
That’s the story, so far. Cute little girl allegedly abducted from her bed, apparently murdered, dumped in a canal. It’s already national news. The parents are not, at this time, considered suspects. West Jordan is on high predator alert. It’s a tragedy. So far, it appears to be that rarest of crimes – a stranger abduction. Not unheard of in Utah (see Elizabeth Smart), but uncommon anywhere.
I dunno, though. Maybe I’m cynical, jaded by years of stories that start out this way and end with a parent or weird relative or family friend on trial.…
Continue ReadingPolice Now Suspect Foul Play In The Disappearance Of Sky Metalwala
November 11, 2011 at 10:18 am by Jaded
Bellevue, WA — For those of you following the Sky Metalwala case, I have a few updates for you. And it’s not looking too good…
Authorities determined Wednesday that Julia Biryukova’s Acura did not run out of gas Sunday morning – she could have continued driving for “a considerable distance.” Police had planned to take the vehicle on a test drive to rule out any other mechanical problems Thursday. And though I have yet to find any additional information on said mechanical inspection, I’d be willing to bet the car ran just fine.
Police say Julia was on her way to the hospital that morning because Sky hadn’t been feeling well. Bellevue police Maj. Mike Johnson said an email Julia sent to a friend Sunday morning is the only evidence police have that Sky was ill. He also said Julia would have had a helluva time buying gas or getting Sky treated…she left her cellphone, purse, wallet and identification at home that morning.
An FBI agent with expertise interviewing children has spoken to Maile, Sky’s older sister, and the little girl said her brother was in the car, wrapped in a blanket, on Sunday, “which wasn’t what we expected to hear,” Johnson said.…

Bellevue, WA — Bellevue police and the FBI are searching for Sky Metalwala, a 2-year-old boy who vanished after he was left alone in an unlocked car Sunday morning.
Police say the boy was with his mother and 4-year-old sibling when they ran out of gas around 8 a.m. that morning. The woman took the 4-year-old with her and walked about a mile to a Chevron gas station, police said, leaving Sky behind.
At Chevron, the woman reportedly called a friend for help. She later told police her friend picked her up as she was walking back to her 2-door silver Acura, and when they reached the car, Sky was gone. The mother also told police the boy was strapped into his car seat when she left and she had locked the driver’s side door, but the other door was not locked.
Sky was reported missing at 9:50 a.m.
Investigators say the car seat was still in the car and there were no signs of forced entry. Police initiated a reverse 911 call in the area to alert residents, and King County Search and Rescue tracking dogs helped search the nearby wooded area.…
Continue ReadingBaby Girl Found Stuffed In Gym Bag, Locked In Car; Mother Charged With Child Abuse
October 13, 2010 at 3:03 am by JadedJacksonville, FL – On October 5, 21-year-old Leendra Dasher called the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department to report her 15-month-old daughter missing. Dasher told police she had last laid eyes on her baby when she put her to bed at about 11:00 p.m., and that she and the child had been alone in the apartment. She stated that she was a light sleeper and had not been awakened by any strange sounds that evening. Also, two door locks, one only accessible from inside the home, had been locked since 3:00 p.m. Shortly after arriving at Dasher’s apartment, police found the child inside Dasher’s locked vehicle in the parking lot – she had been stuffed into a nylon Puma gym bag. She was asleep. According to the officer who found the child, when he returned to the apartment to tell Dasher the child had been found, she appeared “very calm.” When questioned as to how the child ended up in that position, Dasher denied stuffing the child in the bag…she also denied knowing of anyone else who would have done such a thing.…
Continue ReadingDewey, AZ – Just two weeks after the disappearance of Sylar Newton, another toddler has simply poofed into thin air out in Arizona – just 40 miles away from the campground where Sylar was last seen. Police say 2-year-old Emmett Trapp vanished sometime Monday evening as his mother napped. According to mom, she and her four children were home together that evening – when she woke from her nap at about 8:00 p.m., she couldn’t find the little guy. After a thorough search of her home and property, the woman called to report him missing. The family dog had apparently wandered off with the kid, but the dog returned when called. Police say there is no evidence of foul play at this time and stress that there is no known connection to Sylar Newton’s disappearance. Emmett Trapp has brown hair, blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a pajama top, a diaper and no shoes. He is about 26 pounds and 3 feet tall. Anyone who has seen Emmett Trap or has information on his whereabouts are asked to dial 9-1-1 or call the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office at (928) 771-3260.…
Continue ReadingPortland, OR - Just before 8:00 Friday morning, 7-year-old Kyron Horman and his step-mother, Terri Horman, attended a science fair at Skyline Elementary School. Terri snapped a picture of Kyron standing in front of his red-eyed tree frog exhibit and the two wandered around for a bit looking at the other exhibits. At 8:45, Terri walked Kyron down the hall near his classroom. “I’m going back to the classroom, mom,” he told her. Terri waved good-bye and watched him walk down the hall. Kyron hasn’t been seen since. Nearly 8 hours passed before anyone even realized the child had vanished. Law enforcement was notified after Kyron failed to materialize at his bus stop at 3:30 that afternoon. That’s when they finally found out that Kyron hadn’t been in class all day long – members of the school staff said they never saw Kyron after the science fair, and he didn’t make it to his classroom. Portland Public Schools spokesman Matt Shelby says the Horman’s weren’t notified of the absence because Skyline doesn’t use an auto-dialer which calls parents to report the student is absent.…
Continue ReadingChipley, FL – There’s a baby girl missing – her name is Shannon Dedrick. She’s 7 months old, has brown hair and blue eyes, is 2 feet tall, and weighs about 11 pounds. It has been reported that Shannon may have a growth development problem – a problem that would explain her larger than normal head. Shannon’s parents, whom police aren’t naming, reported her missing Saturday at 11:23 a.m. It is believed that Shannon disappeared from her parent’s bedroom, where they were sleeping, between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Mom and dad went to bed at 3 and woke up at 11 and baby girl was missing. From their bedroom. Where they were sleeping. Maybe I’ve been hanging out at the Dreamin’ Demon too long, cause that sure as shit sounds kinda hinky. …

Alex had been left in the care of an older sibling when he disappeared. About 24 hours after little Alex vanished, his body was found stuffed in the clothes dryer of a neighbor’s home. The body had been placed in the dryer after he was killed. Though police aren’t releasing the cause or manner of death, it is being reported that a 14-year-old boy has been taken into custody and charged with murder. We will update this story as more information is made available. …
Continue ReadingCorona, California–Belinda Magana called police Sunday evening to report that her 2-year-old son, Malachi Magana, had disappeared from Lincoln Park while on a Mother’s Day outing with his family. Officers and volunteers searched for Malachi, by land and by air, all night and into the next morning with no luck. The search was called off Monday afternoon–not because Malachi had been found safe and well, but because his mother and her boyfriend tripped up on their lies.…
Continue ReadingFlint, Michigan–Very little information is being released in the case of 9-year-old Shylea Myza Thomas, but this is what I have discovered. Shylea hadn’t been seen in over six weeks–relatives reported her missing to DHS on Tuesday. On Wednesday, her body was found, surrounded by mothballs and stuffed into a garbage bag, locked up in a storage unit in Michigan. Shylea suffered from quadriplegia because of a ‘suffocation issue’ in her crib at 3 weeks of age.…

Caylee Marie Anthony ~ August 9, 2005 – June 2008
Orlando, FL – Wow. Hell of a news day, huh? First, the DNA is back, and the tiny remains found in a trash bag last Thursday are, in fact, those of Caylee Marie Anthony. No real surprise, I suppose. I think we all knew when the body was found that it was hers. Who else would it be? No other tiny little girls with longish brown hair were even missing in Florida last week.
To add insult to murder, it now appears that Roy Kronk, the utility worker who found Caylee’s body, tried to notify authorities in August about the suspicious trash bag in the woods. Yes, the very same trash bag that turned out to hold the toddler’s remains. Three times on three different days, Mr. Kronk says, he called authorities. Yet it was not until the December 11 911 call (when Kronk reported that the bag had opened and a child’s skull had fallen out) that the remains were finally recovered – four months after Kronk made the first call to police. …
Continue ReadingUPDATE 12/13/08 – I’ve been told that the hair on the recovered body is a visual match for Caylee’s hair under a microscope. The bone measurements are also correct for Caylee, so it’s just about certain that these remains are hers. More details at the bottom of the article.

Orlando, FL (December 11, 2008) - The search for 2-year-old Caylee Anthony may be over. At about 9:30 this morning, a utility worker who was working near the Anthony home walked into a wooded area to relieve himself. As he walked through the hilly, wet grass, the man stumbled across a trash bag which was held together with duct tape. When the man opened the bag, the skull of a small child rolled onto the ground. Inside the bag was the rest of the child’s body. Caylee Anthony, 2, has been missing since approximately June 16, but was not reported missing until July 15.…

Detroit, MI – Two-year-old Tangena Hussain of Hamtramck, Michigan, was last seen at 8:45 on Thursday evening at the Marathon Gas Station in Detroit. Or was she? Her mother’s boyfriend (but not Tangena’s father) Jamrul Hussain, 27, says that Tangena was in the back seat of his car when he stopped at the gas station to buy candy and juice for the child. They were on their way to pick up Tangena’s mother, Nilufa Begum, from work at Northland Mall. …

Rest In Peace, Caylee Marie. You will never be forgotten.

Caylee Marie Anthony – b. August 9, 2005 – d. June 2008
Orlando, FL, August 28, 2008 - The DNA is back. Ten weeks after Caylee Marie Anthony was last seen alive, it now appears certain that the missing toddler is dead.  More than that, her decomposing body lay in the trunk of her mother Casey’s white Pontiac for an undetermined period of time before being removed. Many of us hoped that by some miracle, some slender thread of fate, Caylee would be found alive and unharmed. Now it is clear that Caylee never saw her third birthday. She will forever be two years old.…

Continue ReadingLynn, Mass. – Giovanni Gonzalez is five years old. He’s been missing since Sunday, and now Giovanni’s father, Ernesto Gonzalez, won’t tell police where his son is.Sound familiar? On Friday evening, Giovanni’s mother, Daisy Colon, took her son to a scheduled weekend visitation with his father. But on Sunday, when Colon went to pick up Giovanni, Ernesto Gonzalez wouldn’t answer the door. When police arrived and entered the home, they found Ernesto, but no Giovanni. Police initially thought the elder Gonzalez was just being a jerk about a custody dispute, until they were unable to locate Giovanni.Of additional concern was a cut on Ernesto Gonzalez’ hand that looked like it might have come from an altercation of some kind. The Lynn Police Department and Massachusetts State Police have issued an endangered child advisory for Giovanni. An endangered child advisory is different from an Amber Alert because there is no known vehicle or other transportation method known in this case. Still, police think that Giovanni is in significant danger.…

Orlando, FL (August 8, 2008) – The lies of Casey Anthony just keep on piling up like manure covering a gravesite, mixing with the corpse beneath to grow flowers that she hopes will obscure the ugly truth. The truth is that Casey Anthony has almost certainly murdered her little girl. Caylee Marie Anthony has been missing, by most accounts, since June 15. Or June 6th, or 7th, or 9th, or 24th. The problem begins there and just gets uglier, more convoluted.  But the release yesterday of a new search warrant in the Anthony case exposed many of the lies of Casey Anthony. As each shovelful of bullshit is pulled away, authorities are getting closer and closer to finding Caylee. …

Clark Rockefeller, 50; and Reigh Storrow Boss, aka Reigh Rockefeller, 7
Boston, MA, London, and New York - Reigh Boss, aka Reigh Rockefeller, 7, went missing Sunday during a supervised visit with her father, J. Clark Rockefeller.  Reigh, who goes by the nickname “Snooks”, and her mother, Sandra Boss, were visiting Boston from their home in London. Reigh’s parents recently went through a nasty divorce, and in November 2007, Reigh’s legal name was changed from Reigh Storrow Rockefeller to Reigh Storrow Mills Boss. This was the first visit between “Snooks” and her father since December.…

Orlando, FL (July 16) - Two-year-old Caylee Marie Anthony was last seen on June 9. But she wasn’t reported missing until last night. And Orange County investigators want to know why not. Tonight, Caylee’s mother Casey Anthony, 22, is in custody and being questioned about the disappearance of her daughter. Caylee’s maternal grandparents reported the toddler missing yesterday after Casey Anthony admitted to them that she had not seen her child in over a month. So where is Caylee? …
