Pool Drain Pulls Small Intestine Out Of Young Girl

Minneapolis – As 6-year-old Abigail Taylor got out of the kiddie pool at the Minneapolis Golf Club, her father watched as she blacked out and fell face first into the pool decking. Thinking she had a seizure, she was rushed to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. It was at that point that the girls injuries became apparent. Turns out that Abigail had sat on an uncovered drain at the bottom of the wading pool. This caused a two-inch tear in her rectum that resulted in the majority of her small intestines to be pulled out.

A search of the pool filter turned up Abigail’s intestine.

Abigail will have to be fed intravenously for the rest of her life and will have to have a colostomy bag, but even so, she is extremely lucky to be alive.

According to the Associated Press, an official at the golf club expressed sympathy for the family and said he didn’t think anything was wrong with the pool, but referred questions to the club’s attorney, who declined to comment.
