FALMOUTH, MA – A man had to stab the family pit bull to death after it began mauling his 1-year-old daughter in what police are calling an unprovoked attack.

It happened Sunday morning when the man heard screaming coming from the kitchen, and discovered the family dog, a pit bull terrier, had latched on to his 1-year-old daughter’s face.

When the man could not get the dog to off his daughter, he ran to an adjacent room to grab a gun. After trying to shoot the dog and discovering the gun was unloaded, the man used a knife to stab the dog to death.

The girl was airlifted to the hospital where she underwent numerous emergency surgeries and blood transfusions. She is expected to survive the attack but family members say she still has a long way to go, including future plastic surgery procedures.

Police say the dog did not have a history of violence, and that the attack on the girl seems to have been unprovoked.

The father’s uncle, who lives across the street, said the dog was adopted five years ago and has always gotten along with the girl.…

ARJAY, KY – A man has been charged after his two pit bulls mauled a couple Christmas Eve morning, killing the woman.

According to the Bell County Sheriff’s Department, Johnny Saylor woke up Christmas Eve morning and started to walk outside his house to find his wife, 66-year-old Lorraine Saylor, who normally woke up before him and spread bird seed in the yard.

When he went out to the porch, he was immediately attacked by two pit bulls that belonged to his neighbor, 42-year-old Johnny Lankford. The dogs latched on to Johnny’s arm and tried dragging him to the ground.

Luckily, Johnny’s brother lives next door and heard the commotion. He stepped out and began yelling at the dogs, causing them to release their hold on Johnny. This gave Johnny enough time to run back inside and grab a .22 caliber pistol.

When he returned outside, Johnny shot one of the dogs in the chest after it lunged at him. This caused the injured dog to run from the scene.

When Johnny made his way to the front of the house, he found Lorraine.…

LONDON – Medical reports show that a man’s dog was under the influence of crack and morphine when it killed its owner in front of a documentary film crew.

The attack happened in March in front of a BBC documentary crew who were in the home of 41-year-old Mario Perivoitos, filming a documentary about drugs.

After ingesting cocaine, Perivoitos lay in his bed and started having an epileptic fit. This caused his Staffordshire bull terrier named “Major” (not pictured) to attack him and latch on to his neck.

The film crew called police while trying to get the dog off of Perivoitos, but it took 30 minutes before the dog was wrestled off the man.

Perivoitos would not survive the mauling and died from a crushed larynx and massive hemorrhaging.

A toxicology report would later show that the dog had large amounts of cocaine and morphine in his urine.

The toxicologist stated that while it’s impossible to determine if the drugs were the direct cause of the attack, they would have been a factor in the dog’s behavior as drugs typically make dogs “respond abnormally.”

Finally free from a drug addicted owner and clean from crack and morphine, Major is scheduled to be euthanized.…

HART COUNTY, GA — A grandmother is facing murder charges after her two pit bulls mauled her 20-month-old grandson to death.

According to Hart County officials, 70-year-old Sandra Bowers Adams was babysitting her grandson at her home on Tuesday.

Adams told GBI agents that they were going back inside the house when her pit bulls ran out the back door, knocking Adams down and attacking the boy.

She eventually got the dogs off of her grandson and rush him to the hospital, after stopping to pick up the boy’s mother who was nearby, but it was too late.

By time he arrived at Reddy Urgent Care, he was pronounced dead from several bites and tears to his head and neck.

After an extensive investigation and interviews with family members, Adams was charged second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to children and felony involuntary manslaughter.

Part of the reason why the district attorney was comfortable with these charges may have to do with the fact that Adams has been cited multiple times by the Hartwell Police Department under a city ordinance maintaining disorderly animals.…

DETROIT, MI – A 10-year-old girl is in very critical condition after having her arm severed during a pit bull attack, police said.

The incident happened Saturday when the dog managed to get out of a second-floor gated room and attack the girl as she was playing in the backyard.

The owner of the dog has had issues with the animal in the past, including attacking a DTE a year ago, so when strangers are around they secure the dog.

“But in this instance, the dog left the upstairs, came down, the gated door was ajar, the dog left and immediately began attacking this child,” Chief James Craig said.

The girl’s aunt tried to intervene but the dog turned on her and injured her leg. A neighbor ran over with a shovel and beat the dog with it until the shovel broke, but the dog would not let go of the girl’s arm.

Someone else came and tried getting the dog away from the girl with food, to no avail.

“It wasn’t even think about that food, because at this point, it smelled blood,” said neighbor Raphael Jackson said.…

CLAYTON COUNTY, GA – A man on a Delta flight was taken to the hospital after a passenger’s emotional support dog bit him in the face.

The incident happened Sunday at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport as passengers were boarding a flight to San Diego.

Ronald Mundy Jr., from North Carolina, was in a middle seat with his “chocolate lab pointer mix” in his lap, while Marlin Jackson, from Alabama, was sitting beside Mundy in the window seat.

The dog had been issued to Mundy, a marine and “combat veteran”, as an emotional support animal and, for reasons unknown, decided it didn’t like the cut of Jackson’s jib. The dog let Jackson know this by biting the man in the face.

“The gentleman’s face was completely bloody, blood in his eyes, cheeks, nose, his mouth, his shirt was covered in blood,” said passenger, Bridget Maddox-Peoples.

Paramedics arrived and took Jackson to the hospital, while Mundy and his dog were placed on another plane. Mundy’s dog was placed in a kennel for that flight.…

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A 3-week-old baby girl died after being bitten by the family’s pit bull, police say.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. Thursday after Susannah Murray was left alone in her bouncer inside a home as several adults were on the front porch.

When one of the adults went inside the home to check on her, they found she was suffering from bite marks, and the family’s pit bull was nearby with blood around its mouth.

Susannah was rushed to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery. Unfortunately, she would die the following morning.

Three pit bulls were removed from the home and taken to the Kent County Animal Shelter where they are under quarantine.

Another child lives in the home, said Sgt. Terry Dixon with the Grand Rapids Police Department, so Child Protective Services has been notified. At this time, the prosecutor’s office has not determined if any charges will be filed.

“This is a horrible tragedy and serves as a critical reminder to never leave a child unattended around a dog or dogs or cats.…

Baby Mauled To Death By Family Pit Bull

May 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm by

LAS VEGAS, NV – A 6-month-old girl has died after she was mauled by the family pit bull.

It happened on Monday afternoon as Kaniko Dao Tsuda-Saelee was in her baby walker near the dog.

For reasons unknown at this time, the “pit bull-terrier-type mix” began biting the baby.

The mother of the child, who was the only other person in the house, managed to stop the attack and call for help.

Unfortunately, the baby suffered “significant injuries” and was pronounced dead at Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center.

The dog was taken to the Animal Foundation where it may be euthanized. Animal Control says they have had no previous interaction with the family about the dog.

Child abuse and neglect detectives are investigating, which is protocol whenever a child dies, but police say this looks like a tragic accident.

“This is something a lot of families can learn from,” said LVMPD Officer Larry Hadfield. “It’s an absolute tragedy, and regardless how trusting you are of your animals in your house, you have to make sure you are supervising.”…

LILBURN, GA – A 7-year-old boy is recovering after two pit bulls attacked him and ripped off both of his ears.

On Christmas Eve, 7-year-old Ethan Fain was playing with his dog in the back yard of his grandmother’s house when two of the neighbor’s pit bulls pulled him over a fence and began mauling him.

His mother heard his screams and jumped the fence to stop the attack, but by that time, one of Ethan’s ears was hanging off and the other had been ripped off completely.

Ethan was rushed to the hospital where he would spend a few weeks recovering from 300 stitches across his back, neck and shoulders. Doctors were able to sew one of his ears back in place, but have sewn his right ear into the skin of his abdomen for a future reattachment surgery.

He has been home from the hospital for a few weeks but still needs regular medical care, including future reconstructive surgeries and seeing doctors for his post-traumatic stress disorder.

“Ethan still has nightmares and panic attacks related to the attack,” his mother said.…

Not These Pit Bulls IdiotCHARLOTTE, NC — Police say 86-year-old Bessie Flowers was mauled to death by her daughter’s two pit bulls after she tripped in fell inside their home.

In the recently released 911 call, Flowers’ daughter can be heard saying “This is an emergency. My dogs attacked and really hurt her. Please come!”

When police arrived at the home, Flowers was dead on the living room floor. She had suffered bites to her head and neck area, and had lost a significant amount of blood.

According to police, Flowers slipped or tripped onto a dog bed. The family’s two pit bulls went over and apparently started playing with her. This playing turned aggressive and then escalated into a full-blown attack.

Flowers’ daughter was eventually able to get the dogs off of her mother and call 911, but it was too late for Flowers.

Flowers’ daughters reportedly refused to sign the dogs over to Animal Care and Control to be held during the investigation into Flowers’ death, so animal control officers seized the dogs.…

ratACOLMAN, MEXICO – Police have arrested 18-year-old Lizbeth Munguia after rats ate off the face of her 4-month-old baby.

The teen left her baby daughter in the care of the baby’s grandmother Monday night so she could go to a party for a couple of hours.

When she returned home shortly after midnight, she found her infant dead inside her crib. Seems that rats had gotten to the girl and had chewed off half of her face and her fingers.

After running to neighbors for help, paramedics arrived on the scene but could do nothing to save the infant, who was pronounced dead at the scene. After talking to police, both the teen and her mother were taken into custody.

We’ve reported on a lot of stories involving unattended babies being eaten by animals other than dogs, including an infant that lost most of its face after the family ferrets decided to make a meal out of it, and a baby that was strangled to death by the family’s pet python.…

Tyler Griffin-HustonLINDA, CA – Tyler Hudson was mauled to death after his sister left the 9-year-old home alone with her three pit bulls.

Alexandria Griffin-Heady, 24, left for work for a few hours on Sunday, leaving Hudson alone with her three pit bulls she has raised since they were puppies. When she returned home, she found her dogs had mauled her brother to death.

It’s a sad end for a boy who hadn’t had such a great life to begin with. After his mother died of a drug overdose in 2011, he was bounced around foster homes until his sister began the complicated ordeal of adopting her brother.

At the time of his death, Griffin-Heady had been approved for weekend visits. She recently made a post on Facebook about how grateful she was that she may get custody of Hudson.

“I get to raise him and shape him into an amazing man. God wouldn’t have made such an amazing boy just to be ordinary. In my life during all the bad I always wondered why I was here,” she wrote.…

RottweilerJACKSON, TN – A few hours after 57-year-old Anthony Riggs had adopted a Rottweiler, the dog had mauled the man to death in his home.

At around 10 a.m. Thursday morning, Riggs adopted a 5-year-old male Rottweiler from Jackson-Madison County Rabies Control.  Riggs, described as a dog lover by his family, was not a stranger to dogs and had previously owned a Rottweiler, a Doberman, and a wolf-mix.

Riggs’ wife, Kathy, called him at around 1 p.m. but no one answered the phone. When she stopped by their home with a co-worker a couple hours later, she found out why; her husband had been mauled to death by the dog inside the home.

“The husband was all chewed up,” Madison County Sheriff’s Dept. spokesman Tom Mapes. “There was blood everywhere. The sheriff’s report said [Riggs] was found ‘mortally wounded on the floor from the dog attack.'”

The dog turned on Kathy and her co-worker, biting them both before running outside. The co-worker would later post on Facebook that the dog wasn’t showing signs of aggression before it bit her and Riggs’ wife.…

Amiyah DunstonELMONT, NY – Amiyah Dunston was visiting a friend’s house on Sunday when she was mauled to death by an 80-pound pit bull.

According to Detective Michael Bitsko, Dunston was playing with two other girls in the backyard of the home when the dog, named Kane, attacked her for reasons currently unknown.

Witnesses to the horrific attack said that the dog latched onto the 9-year-old’s neck and head, then began shaking her like a rag doll. A woman in the house ran out and tried to stop the attack, but called 911 when she was unable to pull the dog off Dunston.

“She tried with a broom – too weak, too scared,” said neighbor Novelette Wilson.

Police ended up fatally shooting the dog after they arrived on the scene. Officials say as they entered the backyard, the dog stopped attacking Dunston and charged towards them.

Dunston was rushed to the hospital in critical condition where she underwent surgery. Unfortunately, she would be pronounced dead a few hours later.

No one has been charged in connection to the dog attack, but the dog’s owner, 29-year-old Carlyle Arnold, was arrested at the scene on a charge of violating an order of protection.…

October 20, 2015 at 1:07 pm by

Tanner SmithVIDOR, TX – Tanner Smith would have turned 6-years-old today, but on Sunday he was mauled to death by two pit bulls.

Tanner was with his mother visiting one of her mother’s friends when the attack happened.

When Tanner’s mother learned she had mistakenly thought her son was outside with her friend’s father, she went outside and found Tanner had been mauled by the family’s two pit bulls.

According to Tanner’s grandmother, the boy had been bitten about 16 times, including a bite to the main artery in his neck. The dog’s owners performed CPR on Tanner until paramedics arrived, but he would be pronounced dead at the hospital.

One of the dogs was shot on the spot by the homeowner, while the other was taken by animal control. The dogs were in a fenced in yard and are often around children, including the homeowner’s grandchildren. Police say they do not plan on pressing charges against anyone.

What a horribly tragic end for a boy who was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, and had already endured three open heart surgeries in his short life.…

boxerPLANT CITY, FL – A 2-year-old boy has been hospitalized after a police officer noticed the toddler hanging out of a Boxer’s mouth.

Jeffrey Harris, a Tampa Police Detective, was warning business owner Teresa Budd about car burglaries in the area when they noticed a neighbor’s 50-pound Boxer carrying something in its mouth.

As they approached the dog, they realized that the “something” was actually Michael Diaz, a 2-year-old boy. Harris yelled at the dog and got it to drop the boy before it ran off.

Budd knew the Diaz family and ran to their home to alert the boy’s mother, who became visibly distraught. Diaz was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries.

Budd said the dog belonged to the Diaz family and that she’d seen it earlier that day hanging around her loading dock. Another neighbor said the dog wanders the neighborhood, and that the the boy’s older brother once knocked on her door asking to come inside because he said the dog was trying to kill him.…

A neighbor called 911 to report that she heard screams and looked out her window to see Williams being attacked by her grandson’s pit bull two doors down.

Several neighbors attempted to stop the attack, which reportedly lasted for 10 minutes. The pit bull did not stop mauling Williams until it was shot by a neighbor and ran behind the house where it is usually tied up.

Police arrived on the scene and ended up shooting the dog. Paramedics arrived shortly afterward, but it was too late for Williams. She would be pronounced dead shortly after being transported to South Pointe Hospital.

“All I know is there was blood everywhere,” one neighbor said. “He did a nasty job.”

Investigators are not sure what prompted the attack and have not filed charges against the dog’s owner at this time. One neighbor said they’ve rarely seen the dog and that it usually stays chained up behind her neighbor’s house.…

smiling lionJOHANNESBURG – An American was mauled to death at a Johannesburg safari park after a lion reportedly dragged her out of a car.

Sources say a man and woman had their vehicle’s windows down as they were driving through a lion camp at the Lion Park, a popular safari park where “Super Close-Up Animal Views Guaranteed”.

A lion decided to take advantage of the open window and jumped through it. The lion attacked a woman in the car before dragging her out. Ambulances arrived on the scene quickly, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man survived the attack, but suffered serious injuries he received while trying to fight the cat off the woman.

Hopefully the park won’t be penalized, even though this is the third attack at the park in four months. But to be fair, in all cases, the people who were attacked were victims of their own lack of judgement.

An Australian tourist, who had his windows down, was attacked by a lion in March and suffered some nasty bite wounds to his legs and arm.…
