PALATKA, FL – Police have charged an 11-year-old boy with battery after they say he choked a 4-year-old child who is currently hospitalized in critical condition.
Police responded to a home at the Westover Mobile Home Park after receiving a 911 call around 4 a.m. regarding a 4-year-old child who was not breathing.
The responding officer performed CPR on the boy until paramedics arrived and transported him to the hospital.
Police noticed the injured child had strangulation marks on his neck, so they began interviewing the 12 people who lived in the home – six adults and six children eleven years old and under – and eventually determined that an 11-year-old boy was responsible for choking the toddler.
Police arrested the boy in the presence of his mother and placed him in a juvenile detention center on a charge of aggravated battery resulting in serious damage.
Capt. Dick Schauland of the Sheriff’s Office said the 11-year-old had only been back in the home a short time after returning from a Miami rehab program.…
ELKHART, IN – Police have taken a 12-year-old girl into custody after they say she stabbed her stepmother to death in their Elkhart apartment.
According to police, the girl got into an argument with her stepmother, 50-year-old Maria Torres, that led to the girl starting a small fire in her bedroom. When Torres confronted the girl about the fire, the girl stabbed her.
Her father, 49-year-old Edwin Torres, tried to restrain his daughter, but she stabbed him as well, inflicting a non life-threatening injury. The girl then fled the apartment. The injuries to Maria were so severe, she would die before emergency responders could take her to the hospital.
The following morning, police found the girl walking along some railroad tracks with a juvenile female friend in nearby Bristol. She was taken to the Elkhart County Juvenile Detention Center without incident. Police have not been able to interview her because she is a minor and the victims were her parents. They’ll have to wait until a judge appoints her a legal guardian.…
LITTLE ROCK, AR – Police in Arkansas have arrested a 14-year-old boy and charged him with the murder of his grandparents, who were found shot to death outside their home.
According to the Conway Police Department, police found the bodies of Robert Cogdell and his wife Patricia, both 66, after a co-worker of Robert’s called police when he failed to show up for work.
Police would go to the couple’s home and find their bodies in a tree line behind their home. Investigators believe they were killed Tuesday night and that Robert was shot inside the house while Patricia was shot in the garage. Their bodies were then dragged out to the backyard and dumped in the woods.
After speaking with family and friends, the teen was interviewed and subsequently arrested Wednesday evening. He’s currently being held at the Faulkner County Jail.
Family and friends say the the teen lived with his grandparents, adding that Robert and Patricia had custody of the teen. “This is the same grandson I know that he and Pat got custody of to raise, so what do you say to that?” said Jim Narey, who worked with Robert for more than 12 years.…
BROKEN ARROW, OK – Not a lot of details on this one yet but police found five people dead in an Oklahoma residence, along with a teenage girl being treated for stab wounds, and have placed two teenage relatives in custody.
According to Broken Arrow police Sgt. Thomas Cooper, officers responded to the home around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a 911 hangup call. Once inside the home they would find five people dead, both adults and juveniles, from stab wounds.
They would also find a 12- or 13-year-old girl suffering from multiple stab wounds, but still alive. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Another juvenile was found in the home unharmed and is currently in state custody.
When police first entered the home, two teenagers – ages 16 and 18 – were seen running out the back door. Police would use a K9 unit to locate them on a trail behind the home and take them into custody.
Cooper said that the two teens and the victims were all related and lived in the home, and that the case is being considered a homicide investigation.…
WEST VALLEY CITY, UT — Police say a 15-year-old boy murdered 12-year-old Kailey Vijil and left her body in a horse pasture after luring the girl from her home.
According to police, the teen went to the girl’s home around midnight Friday and said something to her that convinced her to leave the house and go with him.
While it is not known what the teen said to the girl, a neighbor told police that the teen was at her house the night before trying to get his teenage sisters to help him find a pregnant cat. I know some of you are going to ask if anyone knew the girl was leaving the house, and the answer to that question is “yes”.
West Valley Police Chief Lee Russo said Vijil’s mother knew her daughter was leaving with the teen, but didn’t say if she knew where her daughter was going. He also didn’t know why the mother allowed her daughter to leave in the first place. However, Russo also said “this isn’t about parenting, this is about a homicide.”
An hour later, when her daughter had not returned, Vijil’s mother began looking for her.…
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Cody Feran-Baum, 17, has been arrested after police say he stomped his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter to death.
A neighbor said Feran-Baum ran to their house with Sophia O’Neill in his arms asking to use their phone. The neighbor said Sophia’s head “just bounced back and forth” and her eyes were unfocused. Sophia was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where she was resuscitated twice before dying.
The medical examiner would find that Sophia died from multiple injuries, including a torn liver, kidney and pancreas, cuts to the inside of her stomach, a collapsed lung and eight broken ribs.
Sophia’s mother told police that her boyfriend of about a year, Feran-Baum, had watched Sophia the day before and that when she returned home she found Sophia had a fever and complained of pain whenever she was picked up or touched. Unaware her daughter was suffering from multiple organ failure, she thought she was just sick and put her in bed for the night.
When Feran-Baum was interviewed and presented with evidence that someone had beat the ever-living shit out of Sophia, the teen came clean and admitted he was responsible. …
FORT WORTH, TX — Police say they will be charging a 10-year-old boy with felony animal cruelty after he was accused of beating a neighbor’s small dog to death with a stick.
According to police, the boy chased the 15-pound Cavalier mix poodle out of the pet’s backyard, eventually cornering the dog on a porch where he used a stick to beat the small animal to death.
A neighbor told police she say the boy trying to kick two small dogs out from under a truck. When she drove back by, she saw one of the dogs slumped on the porch and the boy walking away while holding a stick.
“Did you hurt that dog?” she asked the boy. “No, it’s sleeping,” he allegedly replied.
An autopsy report would later reveal that “Cookie” had died from a fractured spine and severed spine, the result of many blows to the body. When police talked to the boy and his parents, they said that Cookie attacked their son and he was only defending himself.…
GARLAND, TX – Police have taken a 12-year-old boy into custody for the fatal shooting of 13-year-old Matthew Cisneros, a death police initially thought was a suicide.
Back in February, police were called to a home where Cisneros was found dead from a gunshot wound with a gun lying near his body. According to Joe Harn with Garland Police, it wasn’t immediately certain if the shooting was self-inflicted.
But the resulting investigation revealed Cisneros and a 12-year-old friend were playing with the gun and that the younger boy wasn’t aware the gun was loaded when he pulled the trigger and fatally shot his friend.
The 12-year-old has been placed in custody and is now facing a manslaughter charge. I couldn’t find any details on how the boys got possession of the gun in the first place, but Texas law is pretty clear that anyone who allows a child to gain access to a loaded firearm can be charged with criminal negligence.
A friend of the Cisneros family has setup a GoFundMe page to help with the boy’s funeral expenses.…
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Three juveniles have been accused of murdering 51-year-old James Stuhlman as the man pleaded for his life during an armed robbery.
According to police, Stuhlman and his 13-year-old daughter would take his dog for a walk around the neighborhood every night. But on March 12, Stuhlman told his daughter it was getting a little late and walked his dog alone.
At around the same time, Brandon Smith (pictured) and Tyfine Hamilton, both 15-years-old, were with an unnamed 14-year-old boy playing basketball. Afterwards, they decided they wanted to rob someone.
They settled on Stuhlman because “he looked soft” and his dog did not look aggressive. After confronting Stuhlman and announcing he was being robbed, the man begged for his life and pleaded with the teens not to shoot him.
Hamilton ignored his pleas, according to police, and shot the man once in the chest. Being the cowards that they are, the teens ran off without taking anything from Stuhlman.
Stuhlman would be found on the ground holding a flashlight in one hand and his dog’s leash in the other. …
BOULDER COUNTY, CO – A 12-year-old girl in Colorado has been detained by police after authorities say she tried to murder her mother with bleach because her iPhone was taken away.
The sheriff’s office received a phone call from the girl’s mother as she was in the hospital. She told them that she fell ill after drinking a glass of water that smelled like bleach.
She informed them that a few days earlier she had gotten ill after drinking a smoothie. After this most recent incident, she told police she confronted her daughter who allegedly admitted she’d purposely poured bleach in her beverages in an attempt to kill her.
The girl reportedly said she was angry with her mother for taking away her iPhone.
Police detained the 12-year-old and placed her in a juvenile detention center on two counts of attempted first-degree murder, according to the sheriff’s office.
“She had pre-planned this a couple different times,” Sgt. Bill Crist of the sheriff’s office said.
Now it is up to the district attorney to decide what charges they may pursue against the girl. …
SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP, PA – Police have arrested 20-year-old Caleb Barnes and his 14-year-old girlfriend after authorities say Barnes stabbed the girl’s mother to death before the pair buried the woman’s body in a shallow grave.
On Friday night, Cheryl Silvonek took her daughter and Barnes to an Eric Church concert. Later that night, the three got into an argument while sitting in a car in Silvonek’s driveway.
No word on what the argument was about, but news reports are alluding to Silvonek not being too happy about her young daughter dating a 20-year-old Army specialist out of Fort Meademan.
Whatever the argument was about, Silvonek lost when Barnes allegedly used a knife to stab her repeatedly in the neck as they sat in the car. Afterwards, Barnes and Silvonek’s daughter drove another car to Walmart where they bought items to clean up the crime scene.
The pair then drove Silvonek’s car with her body inside to a rural road where they buried Silvonek in a shallow grave. While they were sticking the woman in the ground, a neighbor saw the car and went to investigate.…
DUMONT, NJ – Students will return to Grant Elementary School this morning following the death of one of their classmates who jumped out of a classroom’s second-story window.
On Friday, around 20 fifth-graders and a lunch aide were in a classroom for lunch when the 10-year-old boy handed a note to a classmate he had been playing chess with.
He then walked over to an open window and, without saying a word to anyone, jumped out. The boy would die at the hospital from injuries he sustained from landing on a concrete sidewalk 25 feet below.
Officials have not released the boy’s name or the details contained in the note he handed his classmate. A law enforcement source did not describe it as a suicide note, but said suicide is one of the motives being investigated.
The boy hasn’t been at the school long, but another student said he fit in well and had lots of friends. Counselors have been made available for any students, parents or staff who need them.…
After Reyes went missing, anonymous postings began showing up on social media that taunted Reyes’ family by telling them that Reyes was dead and giving them gruesome clues as to where his body could be found.
Eventually they posted the address of a vacant house where they said the boy’s body could be found. Turns out they were telling the truth. Reyes body was found under the floorboards of that vacant home on Sunday.
“It was a particularly cruel way to tell his mother and father what they had done but they made a game of it,” said Commissario Tirse Diaz.
On Tuesday night, police arrested four teenagers, aged 15, 16, 16, and 17, in connection with the brutal slaying. Because of their ages, the boys will be tried for the grisly murder in juvenile court.
As for a motive behind the killing, the state attorney general’s office said that it was over a girl.…
According to reports, the girl called Whitehead’s mother, Tina, Friday evening and asked if she wanted her to watch the infant to give her a break.
Tina, who has three other children, took her up on the offer. She had no reservations regarding the girl watching after Zuri because the girl’s mother, Tina’s best friend for the last five years. would also be at the home.
Police say the 11-year-old was with her mother and Zuri on a couch until around 3 a.m. , until her mother fell asleep. That’s when the girl allegedly carried Zuri upstairs and beat the shit out of her. She carried Zuri’s bloody body back downstairs thirty minutes later and woke her mother.
Zuri was alive, but barely. She could barely open her eyes and was having a hard time breathing. She was rushed to the hospital but would die of internal injuries at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland.…
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Wildlife officials say some teens at an upscale Fort Lauderdale condominium complex used an electronic cigarette to kill a pelican.
The attack, which happened last month and captured on security camera, shows one of the teens holding the pelican down and blowing fumes from an electronic cigarette into its beak and eyes.
The teen then holds the pelican’s beak closed so it couldn’t breathe. He does this repeatedly throughout the night until the pelican died, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Liz Barraco.
After reviewing the security footage, a security guard was able to identify one of the teens as a residence at the condominiums. They met with the teen and were able to identify the teen who killed the pelican as a 16 or 17-year-old non-resident.
Wildlife officers met with the teen and his father, then charged him with a violation of the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act. It’s only a second-degree misdemeanor which carries a maximum penalty of a $500 fine and 60 days in jail.…
DETROIT, MI – Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy after they say he stabbed his older brother to death after arguing over a soft drink and a bag of chips.
The stabbing reportedly happened Monday night when the teen got into an argument with his 18-year-old brother over who would get some carbonated fruit punch and some chips.
The teen is currently being held in a juvenile detention facility while the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office decides on criminal charges. Prosecutors have five days to bring charges and determine whether to charge the teen as a juvenile or as an adult.
Back in 2013 we reported on a 13-year-old girl who stabbed a classmate in the back with a pocket knife, allegedly because the boy had stolen a bag of chips from her while in the school’s playground.
Also in the “stabbed over chips” news is the North Carolina man who has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill after he allegedly stabbed a woman over a $1.49 bag of Jalapeno Cheetos.…
DALLAS, TX – Police have arrested a 14-year-old girl after they say she intentionally drowned 3-month-old Justice Hul that CPS had just recently placed in her family’s home.
According to reports, the teen called police at around 6:15 a.m. Monday to report a child in trouble due to high water. When police arrived at the apartment, they found the baby dead. Police say the teen intentionally drowned Hul shortly after her mother left for work.
“The facts of the case are that the 14-year-old intentionally drowned a 2-month-old and that’s the real tragedy today,” said Maj. Robert Sherwin with the Dallas Police Department.
Even more tragic is that Hul had been placed with the family by Child Protective Services at the request of the child’s biological mother who is in jail, Sherwin said. The teen has a twin sister and a teenage brother, one of which who was in the home at the time of the drowning and is being considered a witness.
The teen was taken into police custody and has been charged with capital murder of a person under the age of 10, and transferred to a juvenile detention center.…
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A 9-year-old girl was arrested and charged with battery after her mother called police to report her punching her younger sister.
The mother contacted police over the weekend to report that “her 9-year-old daughter punched her 6-year-old sister in the head” and that she’d recorded the incident on her cell phone.
After the responding officer reviewed the video, he made the decision to arrest the girl on battery charges. The 9-year-old was handcuffed and taken to the Marion County Juvenile Center.
While some may feel the decision to arrest a girl this young is unusual, Rafael Diaz from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said that it’s quite common.
“It happens. It seems like we spend a lot of our time dealing with juvenile issues,” Diaz said.
No way in hell I would call the cops on my kid for hitting a sibling. I’m a good parent and learned a solid kick to the ass will stop almost any child’s unruly behavior. Besides, hiding all the guns and drug paraphernalia would be too much of a hassle.…
