BELLEVILLE, IL – We just reported on a case where a 10-year-old girl was charged with killing an infant in Maine, now police in Illinois have charged a 9-year-old boy with first degree murder after they say he beat a 14-month-old to death.
I’ve read many articles about this, but after one from LakeExpo.com, I think I have a clearer picture of what allegedly happened. From what I can gather, Alisha Johnson is the mother of 14-month-old Taquan “King” Willis and his two brothers, ages 2 and 3. A few months ago, Johnson moved into the home of Melissa Wilbourn, who lived with her boyfriend and two boys ages 12 and 9-year-old.
On Aug 26, Johnson was out when she received a call from Wilbourn telling her Taquan was injured and she needed to go to the hospital. When she arrived, she would find her son beaten and unconscious. Taquan would never regain consciousness and was pronounced dead on Sunday.

Park Ridge, IL — Police in Illinois have charged man with assault after they say he approached a 16-year-old girl he didn’t know, threw her to the ground, and then spanked her.
According to reports, 37-year-old Anthony Nugent approached the teen as she walked down the street Wednesday afternoon while carrying a musical instrument in a black case. Nugent approached the girl and asked what was in the case she was carrying. He became aggressive when she told him it was a musical instrument but refused to open the case so he could see it.
She tried ignoring him and continued walking, but Nugent allegedly continued to harass and badger the girl. When the girl continued to ignore him, Nugent reportedly grabbed the teen by the neck and head then threw her to the ground. The two got into a struggle during which Nugent ripped the teen’s shorts and used his hand to smack her ass several times.
Nugent fled the area on foot, but a passing motorist witnessed the incident and called 911.…

Chicago, IL – Two years ago we reported on the death of Megan Duskey. She was the 23-year-old special education teacher who tried sliding down a stair’s banister during a Halloween party and plunged four stories to her death.
Now it is being reported that her family is suing the hotel.
James and Deborah Duskey have filed a lawsuit against Hilton Worldwide, the Palmer House Hilton, Surreal Chicago and Adrenaline Y2K, claiming their combined negligence was the cause of their daughter’s death.
They allege the named parties allowed party-goers to drink unlimited amounts of alcohol and failed to provide proper security to protect the drunks…from themselves?
Duskey was one of around 2,000 people who attended the Haunted Hotel Ball at Chicago’s Palmer House Hilton in 2010. She had arrived dressed as Silk Spectre from The Watchman comics (rawr) and had only been there for around 30 minutes when she attempted to slide down a banister on the hotel’s mezzanine level.

WOODSTOCK, Ill.— I completely missed this story when it was first being reported, but it seems as if John Wayne Gacy’s nephew, 49-year-old Raymond Kasper, is currently on trial after being charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl on multiple occasions.
Kasper was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse against a girl under the age of 13. The girl is the daughter of a woman Kasper has dated for years who, according to the prosecution, was sexually assaulted by Kasper multiple times between June and October of last year. During the opening statements, Assistant State’s Attorney Matthew Ciesielski told the jury about one occasion in which Kasper’s “fat, sausage like fingers” touched the girl in a sexual manner while rubbing lotion on her body after she was bitten by mosquitoes.
But Kasper’s defense attorney, Michael Barrett,says that the accusations are from a young girl who was upset with Kasper for cheating on her mother. The victim’s mother has also said that she has doubts about her daughter’s allegations, saying she thinks her daughter was trying to protect her.…

MAINE TOWNSHIP, Ill. – Reports are that last week an 18-month-old girl in Illinois lost a fingertip to the family’s pet piranha.
The girl’s mother said she heard her daughter crying and found her with a bleeding finger that was missing the tip. At first she thought the family’s pit bull may have been the culprit, because you know, it’s a pit bull.She would learn this was not the case after 911 was called and the girl was rushed to the hospital.
The doctor who examined the girl said her injury could not have come from the 65-pound dog, but the culprit could have been one of the two piranhas swimming in a tank near where the girl had been playing. Authorities called the girl’s father, who was still at home, and informed them of their suspicions.
Without hesitation, the father plunged his hand in the tank, snagged one of the fish and cut it open. There, inside the piranha, was his daughter’s missing fingertip. The upset father delivered the piece to the doctors, who attempted to re-attach it to his daughter.…

Chicago, IL – Here’s a story that is going to get some of you angry, especially Jaded. Police have released video footage of two men violently robbing an 86-year-old WWII vet in the lobby of his apartment building.
Police say the victim had just finished running some errands, including a stop at the bank, when a shuttle van dropped him off at his building.
As seen in the video, once inside, the elderly man is grabbed from behind and choked until he passes out. A second man then takes $500 hidden in the victim’s shoe. After searching the man, his attackers drop him on the floor, letting the door close on his head.
“This is one of those crimes that hits us at the pit of our stomach,” Chicago Police Officer John Mirabelli said.
The victim, who served in the South Pacific during World War II, was treated and released from the hospital. He said he is thankful for police and their continued efforts to capture these two men, and thankful all he lost that day was his money.…

TINLEY PARK, IL – Multiple people were injured and several arrested after a group of militant anti-racists stormed a family restaurant on Saturday, and attacked a group of white supremacists.
The group of 18 attackers, dressed in black and sporting masks, assaulted roughly a dozen alleged white supremacists with steel batons and hammers inside the Ashford House restaurant, causing around $15,000 in damages and sending several people to the hospital.
“The other group marched into the restaurant, all were in hooded sweatshirts,” restaurant owner, Mike Winston, told msnbc.com. “Each had a chair leg, baton or a bat. They came in and went straight to a table of white guys and whoever stood up or got in the way, they got walloped.”
Mayor Ed Zabrocki has reviewed the surveillance footage and says the attack was a real riot.
“The whole thing took about 90 seconds to transpire,” Mayor Ed Zabrocki stated. “You see tables moving into view, food spilling on the floor. You see them marching out and you see some of the waiters taking swings at them.”
The victims in the incident are members of the European Heritage Association, which is linked to the extreme “white pride” organizations White News Now and Stormfront.…

NEW BADEN, IL – Police in Illinois are trying to locate a couple of teenagers accused of using a skateboard to kill a 6-month-old kitten at a local park.
The owners say the kitten, named Tomale, wandered from their home and ended up a couple blocks away at a city park. Tomale’s owners eventually made their way to the park while searching for the kitten and ran into a group of kids there who informed them Tomale was dead and currently residing in a nearby trash can.
According to the kids, Tomale had been killed after a teen at the park pitched the kitten towards another teen who used a skateboard as a baseball bat. Horrified, they checked inside the trash can and sure enough, there was Tomale — it’s neck broken with blood and foam coming from its mouth.
“It was the hardest thing I had to do was to pull a kitten that we had just gotten for our kids out of a trash can and find out that some kids who were supposed to be up here skating, just doing innocent stuff, could sit there and murder a kitten,” sobbed Kristin Neu.…

WAUKEGAN, IL – The father in Illinois who used a needle and thread to sew his teenage son’s ass shut has avoided jail time by taking a plea.
Back in 2008, 52-year-old Randy Swopes employed a particularly crude home remedy on his 14-year-old son’s ass that ended with his son staying in the hospital for a spell and him getting charged with aggravated battery.
The boy suffers from Crohn’s Disease and at the time of the incident he was also suffering from a fistula. I’m guessing an anal fistula, which is not only a decent name for a death metal band, it is also very painful.
Instead of taking the boy to the hospital for treatment, Swopes went the ‘Tussin route and brought out some needle and thread that he used to sew his son’s butt shut.
Not surprisingly, this resulted in an infection that landed the boy in the hospital for a month and Swopes getting himself arrested.
Last Friday, Swopes represented himself in court and took an Alfred plea, the kind of plea where someone doesn’t have to plead guilty but admits that there is enough evidence to convict them.…

Joliet, IL - A man was arrested after police say he attempted to sell at stolen laptop at the place of employment of the laptop’s owner.
Demetrius O. Nabors, 18, and an accomplice reportedly entered a Joliet liquor store, United Liquors, offering to sell a laptop computer to the employees. One of the workers recognized the laptop as being similar to one owned by a co-worker who wasn’t scheduled to work that night. That worker gave her co-worker a call.
The co-worker – who was not at home – reportedly returned to her apartment to find that it had been burglarized. She then called Joliet police to report the burglary and to inform them that she knew the location of the perpetrators.
According to reports, before police could respond, one of the men fled. Employees were able to hold Nabors until officers showed up.
The burglary victim was able to identify the laptop as hers. Police said that officers found electronics and videogames inside Nabors’ car that had been taken during the burglary.…

LAKE IN THE HILLS, Ill – A teen in Illinois was arrested after she came home drunk, bit her mother and then bit the family dog several times.
Officers were responding to a home at around 4 a.m. Sunday after neighbors called to report loud screaming and pounding. There they encountered a 37-year-old woman who had been physically assaulted by her 19-year-old daughter, Analise J. Garner.
She said the pair had gotten into an argument after Garner arrived home late and drunk. This altercation resulted in Garner punching her mother in the face and biting her hand. But she wasn’t the only one in the home to be assaulted by Garner’s mouth.
Police Garner also chewed on the family’s 80-pound English bulldog. According to police, there were several visible bite marks on the dog. As a result, the dog bit back and Garner was treated at the scene for a bite wound on her arm. Because the dog bit her, standard procedure dictated animal control be notified.

DES PLAINES, IL – A 37-year-old man in Illinois drowned in a condo’s retention pond after being attacked by one or more swans.
Anthony Hensley worked for Knox Swan and Dog LLC, a company that places swans or dogs in areas experiencing problems with the geese population. Hensley was at the Bay Colony Drive condos early Saturday morning, caring for swans they’d placed in their retention pond.
Residents say Hensley has been a regular visitor there for years, often seen on the pond in his kayak caring for the swans and feeding them. But tragedy struck that morning when one or more of the swans attacked him. No one knows exactly what prompted the attack — some thinking he just got too close to their nest or eggs — but whatever the reason, it resulted in Hensley’s kayak flipping over.
He was a good swimmer, but a combination of being fully clothed and wearing boots made it difficult for Hensley to keep his head above water. This was made especially laborious by the swans who continued their assault on Hensley as he tried to swim to shore.…

ROCKFORD, IL – As my co-workers can attest to, I do not iron. That’s what a wife is for. Or sometimes in my case, a dryer. It’s not that I don’t own one, as I love my grilled cheese sandwiches. I just don’t own an ironing board. I waved bye to it as my ex drove away in a U-haul packed with other things she owned that I paid for.
But I can honestly say that I if I did need an impromptu ironing board in the face of some kind of emergency, the last thing I would have ever thought of using would be a sleeping child’s back. A foot stool or wheel chock? Sure. But not an ironing board. Inexplicably, 43-year-old Elliot Moore didn’t have that same line of thinking when he used the back of an 18-month-old girl to iron a shirt.
Back in 2010, Moore was watching a woman’s two young children while she was at school. Because the 18-month-old was sleeping on his lap, Moore was experiencing difficulties ironing his work shirt.…

Chicago, IL - Police were able to track down a man who robbed a Radio Shack store using the global positioning equipment that was stolen in the robbery.
According to police, Raymond Jefferson, 20, entered a south Chicago Radio Shack Friday night, threatened the people inside with a handgun, bound them with plastic ties, took their cell phones, and then fled with $17,000 in electronic merchandise from the store.
Unfortunately for Jefferson, among the stolen items was one or more with global positioning that reportedly led officers to him. Police arrested Jefferson approximately two hours after the robbery.
It is clear that the quick apprehension using the GPS technology saved both time and effort. Not so long ago, Jefferson would have been forced to take a photograph of himself alongside the merchandise using a stolen camera, upload it to the internet using a stolen laptop, and then contact police using a stolen phone to direct them to the evidence of his crime.
Technology rewards us in so many ways.

BELLEVILLE, IL — A 12-year-old boy is breathing a sigh of relief after his adoptive parents are arrested and charged with torturing him by making him eat screws and do over 1,000 push-ups as punishment.
The oddly similar looking couple’s entertainment was brought to light after the boy confided in his elementary school nurse that he was being abused at home. After closer examination, the boy was found to have bruises on his back, legs and arms which sparked an abuse investigation.
Investigators state that the boy’s most recent torture session started before school when the boy haphazardly ate a cookie in a less-than-tidy manner. James Jennings, the boy’s stepdaddy, found crumbs in the kitchen and feared his dog would get sick by eating the cookie crumbs and, in turn, handled the situation as any clear-headed adult would.
He allegedly pulled the boy out of his room, beat the boy with a wooden paddle, made him eat the cookie crumbs off the kitchen floor along with some loose screws, then forced him to do 1,000+ push-ups on his knuckles.…

Chicago, IL - Police say a drunk driver was twice the legal limit when she struck and killed a man walking in a crosswalk early Saturday morning.
Bianca Garcia, 21, was intoxicated while speeding in a Jeep Liberty about 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Witnesses say they watched as Garcia lost control of the vehicle and struck 32-year-old Jesse Bradley in a crosswalk. Instead of stopping and helping the man, the drunken moron drove away. She was stopped a few blocks away after turning the wrong way on a one-way street.
Garcia refused to take field sobriety tests but admitted to police she’d been drinking in at least three bars before the accident. After being taken to the hospital it was determined she had a blood alcohol content of .168, more than double the legal limit.
While Bianca Garcia was refusing field sobriety tests, Bradley, a law student currently on leave from Northwestern University, was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Garcia was charged with aggravated DUI resulting in death, DUI and reckless driving, ticketed for driving the wrong way on a one-way street and not having a driver’s license or insurance.…

Las Vegas, NV –Last year I posted about Carl Guilford, the teenager who claimed the devil made him suffocate his 6-year-old cousin to death and then later stab his cellmate to death with a pencil. On Monday, he pleaded not guilty.
His attorney, Deputy Public Defender Norman Reed, intends to argue that his client is not guilty by reason of insanity even though his client was determined to be sane enough to stand trial.
For those of you who may have missed this story when we reported it last August, Guilford, then 18-years-old, was arrested and charged with suffocating his 6-year-old cousin. He said that after he killed the boy, the Devil told him “well done.”
After being arrested for that murder, he was placed in a cell at the Clark County Detention Center with Francesco Sanfilippo, a 39-year-old who had gotten busted possessing child pornography.
A few weeks later, Guilford attacked Sanfilippo as he sat at a table and began stabbing the man in the neck with a pencil. Guilford would be found sitting on the top bunk of his blood-splattered cell sporting a blank stare.…

WINTHROP HARBOR, IL – A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing children at his mother’s day care.
Brett Degler has been accused of sexually abusing three young girls, two 11-year-olds and a 4-year-old, since November of last year.
A two week police investigation began after the 4-year-old told her parents that it hurt to urinate and that “Brett did it.” Her parents took her to the hospital and then contacted police when it was revealed the girl had been sexually assaulted.
The girl was able to detail when and how she was abused durin an interview that lead police to a second victim. Degler admitted to assaulting a third victim during a police interview following his arrest a day later. The abuse had been ongoing for at least five months and took place when his mother was in another room of the house or at the store.
His mother, Cheryl Degler, has run a residential day-care for nearly 30 years and p0lice say she has cared for the children of children she cared for in the past.…

Barrington, IL – It’s nothing I haven’t done. You see a couple of teenage girls out in bad weather and you do the neighborly thing and offer them a ride home. But, if you are a male in the Barrington area, such thoughtfulness is ill-advised and, according to the local prosecutor, downright illegal… even if you have great hair.
It was during a March 2nd snow storm that the man pictured left, Rodney Peterson, had stopped for gas at a Shell station. While there, he noticed two teen girls leaving. “I just noticed these girls, that they had no umbrella, no coats or hood or something of that nature and I just felt like I should help,” Peterson recalled. So, he did what any decent person (or opportunistic predator) would do and pulled up to offer them a ride. “How far do you have to walk?” he asked before one said, “We’re okay,” and signaled him to move along.
The father of three (with a fourth on the way) continued home to his family and thought little of the encounter. That is, until police showed up on his door step a few days later. He was shocked to learn that, not only had the girls taken down his plate number and reported the incident to police, he was also being charged with disorderly conduct.…

Chicago, IL – Last week we had a story about a family getting kicked off a JetBlue flight because of an unruly toddler, now we got an American Airlines flight attendant getting kicked off her plane because of a possible mental breakdown.
Passengers on flight 2332 got a bit of a FINAL DESTINATION moment Friday morning when one of the flight attendants could be heard over the intercom speaking in and out of Spanish, stating that if the plane took off it was going to crash.
“She made two comments, that if we didn’t go back to the gate we would crash,” said passenger Stephen Termunde. “It was almost like she was talking, and didn’t know the PA was on.”
Other flight attendants tried to get the intercom phone out of her hands and even enlisted the help of some first class passengers. One of those passengers said it took about five people to restrain her.
“I grabbed her arms, there were about four of us, I guess, five of us, including the flight attendants who actually sat her back down in my seat,” Kevin Ritch said.…
