Tyler Hadley Pleads Insanity After Beating His Parents To Death With A Hammer

Port St. Lucie, FL — Tyler Hadley, the teen accused of beating his parents to death with a hammer then threw a party, has filed a notice declaring he will rely on an insanity plea in his upcoming trial.
For those of you who do not remember this psycho and what he did to his parents, let me refresh your memory. According to Hadley’s best friend, Michael Mandell, the teen had repeatedly talked about killing his parents, 47-year-old Mary Jo Hadley and 54-year-old Blake Hadley, but no one took him seriously until July 16, 2011.
That’s when Hadley sent out Facebook invitations to a party he was throwing at his house. ”Party at my crib tonight … maybe,” he posted on Facebook at 1:15 p.m. July 16, about four hours before the homicides. He updated at 8:15 p.m.: “Party at my house, hmu (“hit me up” or “contact me”).”
During this party, Hadley told his best friend that he’d killed his parents earlier that day. Not believing him, Hadley took Mandell to his parents bedroom where Mandell could see the legs of Hadley’s father sticking out from underneath a pile of household items.…

SHEBOYGAN FALLS , WI – Police have charged two juveniles with murder after they say the teens used a hatchet and hammer to murder one of the boy’s great-grandmother.
Last week the body of 78-year-old Barbara Olsen was discovered lying in a pool of blood inside her garage. At the time police were calling the death “particularly violent” and that they had two juveniles in custody; her great grandson and his friend. Now that the criminal complaint has been released, the disturbing details of what happened to Olsen have been revealed.
According to 13-year-old Nathan Paape’s admission, he and 13-year-old Antonio Barbeau went to the home of Antonio’s great mother to kill her and steal some money. They got a ride to her home from Nathan’s mother, concealing a hammer and hatchet they brought along with them. After entering Olsen’s home through an unlocked side door attached to the garage, they encountered Olsen.
Olsen told Antonio that she was calling his mother, but when she turned around to do so, Antonio struck her in the back of the head with the blunt end of the hatchet.…

TITUSVILLE, Fl – A 52-year-old homeless veteran is fighting for his life after a man attacked him while he slept, using a hammer to bash in his skull.
Police were patrolling an area Friday morning when they noticed 33-year-old John Paul Angelillo in front of an abandoned business holding a hammer. When the officers turned into the business, they noticed 52-year-old David Gotshall on the ground nearby suffering from severe injuries.
The injuries where caused by Angelillo using a hammer to strike Gotshall in the face as he slept. Gotshall suffered multiple facial and skull fractures and the loss of one eye. He also suffered injuries to his ribs and a broken arm. He had to be airlifted to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.
Gotshall, a Desert Storm veteran, was sleeping behind the business because, according to friends, he had no where else to go after the city dismantled his previous camp a week earlier.

Midway, FL - Police have arrested two teenagers on attempted murder charges, accusing them of beating a 50-year-old man over the head with a hammer and stealing his vehicle. The victim is currently on life support.
On March 26, police were called by a witness who said they heard someone screaming for help and watched as two men pulled a man from a vehicle and drag him into the woods. Police would find the victim lying in the woods.
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim was sitting in his SUV when 18-year-old Julius Bender and 19-year-old Yahaziel Israel approached him and began beating him with a hammer. He was pulled out of his vehicle and dragged into a nearby wooded area where he was beaten over the head with the hammer.
His attackers fled the scene in the man’s car before police arrived and abandoned the vehicle at a short distance away. Investigators would received a tip from Crimeline that named Bender and Israel as the two they were looking for.
The witness to the beating was able to pick the teens out of a photo line-up and stated Bender was the one wielding the hammer. Israel’s fingerprints were found inside and outside of the victim’s vehicle.…

Carpentersville, IL — The totally sane lookin’ fella to the left is facing a butt-load of charges after police say he beat a woman unconscious with a hammer, raped her daughter and stabbed her dog.
Daniel Happ was arrested early Wednesday morning after police responded to the woman’s home on a disturbance call. When police arrived on scene, they found a 23-year-old woman unconscious and suffering from numerous blows to the head. Also in the home, the woman’s 8-year-old daughter, who police believe had been raped by Happ. Police say the sh*thead threatened to bludgeon the child with the same hammer he beat the snot out of her mamma with as he defiled her.
In addition to the two human victims, police also found a dog in the home to be suffering from several stab wounds.
The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment, but because of her condition, she was unable to assist police with their investigation. The child was interviewed by professionals at the Kane County Child Advocacy Center and taken someplace safe, and the dog is in the care of a local veterinarian.…

Yankton, SD — A 52-year-old woman was arrested Monday after a witness reported seeing her take a hammer to her cat’s head.
Mary Thompson, the crazy lady in question, apparently had one too many cats living in her apartment. Tenants in that particular apartment complex are allowed only one.
Thompson was apparently aware of the rule and had previously spoken with management, declaring that she would find a new home for one of the cats. When the manager learned Thompson was still in possession of two cats, she went to the woman’s apartment and told her, again, that she was not allowed more than one.
It was during that conversation that Thompson allegedly walked into the kitchen and grabbed a small hammer. She then returned to the living room, grabbed the pussy by the neck and began beating it’s tiny brains out. At that point, the manager said she ran screaming from the apartment in fear.
Thompson reportedly admitted to police that she had killed the cat and disposed of it in the dumpster before being arrested. She’s been charged with animal cruelty, a misdemeanor.…

Jupiter, FL — A 62-year-old woman is accused of hammering her husband Sunday after apparently coming unglued while watching Judge Judy.
Janet Knowles was taken into custody on a charge of aggravated battery after police responded to the home she shares with her husband and found the 65-year-old man bleeding from his brain space.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the man told police he was sitting on his recliner watching Judge Judy when Knowles lost her sh*t and knocked him upside the head with a hammer.
When questioned, Knowles told police she hit the man because he was watching Judge Judy and that made her mad. She then reportedly said something about one of her neighbors and what they were wearing. The responding officer noted in his report that Knowles could not hold a conversation during the investigation.
The man was treated for a cut to his head and forearm and did not require hospitalization. Knowles is being held without bond.

Pasadena, CA — Young Song, a 40-year-old animator with DreamWorks Studios, is being held on animal cruelty charges after dishing out what the Humane Society is calling one of the most brutal cases of animal abuse they have ever seen.
Song, whose credits include Shark Tale, Bee Movie, Flushed Away, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar 2, reportedly scaled a neighbor’s fence on April 20 and shot their muzzled 1-year-old German Shepherd puppy with a pellet gun before chasing it around the yard and beating it to death with a hammer. Police say the entire incident was captured on surveillance video.
“When our officers first viewed the videotape, one of our officers had tears in his eyes. He’d never seen anything like this before,” said Steve McNall, head of the Pasadena Humane Society and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. “In my 31 years at this animal shelter I’ve never seen anything like this.”

BALTIMORE, MD – A 66-year-old woman is in critical condition after police say her 14-year-old grandson played a game of whack-a-mole on her head with a hammer.
Police say Hassanhii Garrett attacked his grandmother on Thursday morning as he was getting ready for school. After the attack, he called 911. Responding officers found her face-down on the floor in a pool of blood. The woman put up a hell of a fight as evident by the blood found on the floor, walls, furniture, and in the hallway between the bedroom and the bathroom.
Garrett told investigators that he beat the woman unconscious with a hammer because he was tired of how she was treating him. So after eating breakfast he retrieved a hammer and struck her in the head while she was sleeping, then struck her with his fists when she tried to get away. Stock Island, FL — 60-year-old Urania Lot is behind bars after police say she hit her 18-year-old son with a hammer over an argument about where he should eat his sandwich.
Police were called to Lot’s home Monday afternoon and first made contact with the victim. The teen, nursing a sore arm and sportin’ a battered head, told officers that he and his mom had been arguing over a sandwich.
Lot apparently requested that the boy eat his sandwich at the table in the dining room instead of in the living room. When the teen refused, the woman threatened to smash his television to bits and kick his disrespectful ass to the curb. Her threats fell on deaf ears.
Frustrated, the woman reportedly grabbed a hammer and whacked the boy on the arm before pummelin’ him in the head a bit with her fists. Police say she also bit the boy on the wrist.

Ontario, CA – Days before being evicted from the shed they lived in, cops say a mother used a hammer to kill her 10-year-old son then killed herself by slitting her own throat.
The woman’s landlord said he heard screams coming from the 8-foot-by-12-foot shed he rented to the woman the night before, but did not call police. When he checked on the woman and her son the next day, he found their dead bodies and called police.
Police believe Libia Lopez, 41, first killed her son, Eddie Lopez, 10, by beating him to death with a hammer before trying to overdose on anti-depressant pills. She then took a quicker route by using a knife to slit her throat.
Neighbors say Lopez had just recently lost her job and was about to be evicted for not paying rent. But Sgt. David McBride said that after subsequent interviews, the upcoming eviction may not have been the motive behind the murder-suicide.
I’m not saying that other people’s misfortune should negate any gripes anyone else has about their own life, but damn if reading this kinda shit doesn’t help ground me a bit.…

Philadelphia, PA – Our resident forum Overlord posted a story back in November of last year regarding a teenager who was accused of beating his mother to death with a claw hammer. He tried to hide the body behind the house, but was busted a few days later when family members became suspicious.
It is now being reported that the motive behind the attack was because 16-year-old Kendall Anderson had his Playstation 3 taken away from him after an hours long argument with his mother, 37-year-old Rashida Anderson.
Kendall admitted to pacing for a few hours before finally coming to the conclusion that he must murder his mother because he “was tired of all the arguing.” He waited until she had fell asleep before hitting her over 20 times with a claw hammer. But she wasn’t dead.
Kendall tried to finish his mother off by cremating her in the oven. When that did not turn out like he planned, he smashed her head in with a chair leg, then dragged her body out into the alley behind their house and covered it with debris.…

Iberia, LA – Vanessa Edmond, 23, and her live-in boyfriend, 25-year-old Jamal Charles, have each been charged with three counts of second-degree cruelty to juveniles in connection with the death of Edmond’s 4-year-old daughter, Rayneisha Hudson.
When police and paramedics responded to the couple’s home last Thursday, they found an unresponsive Rayneisha laying on the floor. She was stiff and cold to the touch. Investigators said it appeared as if she had been severely burned from the waist down, the skin on her legs “fluffing off.”
Another of Vanessa’s children, a 3-year-old boy, was suffering from burns to his left foot and buttocks – he was transported to the hospital where medical personnel later determined that the injuries were recent and likely caused by hot water.
An older sibling, a 5-year-old girl, told detectives that Charles whipped Rayneisha with a hammer because she had soiled herself. The child also told detectives that Charles then “put her sister and brother in a hot tub.” The Acadiana Crime Lab later determined that the water out of the tap was 180 degrees.…

Jacksonville, North Carolina — Martha A. Martin, 55, was in court yesterday on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, assault on a handicapped person and interfering with an emergency communication.
Jacksonville Police allege the woman hit her mother in the head with a hammer, and then disconnected the telephone when she tried to call 911. Jacksonville Police responded to a domestic dispute at the Decatur Road home at 5:53 p.m. and then returned at 8:23 p.m. when Pilar Martin’s call was disconnected, JPD spokeswoman Beth Purcell said. “We have been there several times, and they haven’t followed through at the magistrate’s office,” Purcell said.
The 83-year-old victim, Pilar Martin was taken to the hospital Tuesday with serious injuries and has since been released. Martin is being held in the Onslow County Jail on a $50,000 bond. I’d really like to know what that argument was about.…

Bordentown Twp, NJ. –Authorities revealed Thursday that the bodies of Kerri Havens and her husband, John Havens III, were found in their Tantum Court home the day before. Kerri’s parents arrived at the home around 7 am to baby sit their two grandchildren, a 1-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl, while Kerri and John were at work. Although the children were found to be unharmed, the fate of their daughter was quite the opposite. It appears as though after arguing on Wednesday, John Havens III, 30, beat his wife with a hammer before fatally cutting his neck and arms with a box cutter. An autopsy showed that 29-year-old Kerri Havens died from a blow to her head. The children are now in custody of family and I can only hope the two children did not witness the murder-suicide inflicted by their father. Court records indicate John Havens previously was charged with burglary in Monmouth County in 1989 and with theft in Mercer County in 1998. The burglary charge was dismissed after Havens completed a pretrial intervention program.…

Gainesville, FL – Police arrested 55-year-old Cortez Geiger and slapped him with a sexual battery charge after he reportedly hammered his girlfriend while in the process of forcibly hammering her. The woman told police that as Geiger was forcing himself upon her early Sunday morning, he thunked her in the forehead with the metal end of a hammer. In addition to the thunking, he allegedly punched her in the face and held her down by the throat. WEST HAVEN, Conn. - Police say that the 81-year-old William Murphy used a hammer like tool to bash his wife, 71-year-old Jean Murphy, in the head with after she fell asleep on the couch. To keep her from calling for help, he took the phone with him when he fled the with their car. Luckily, Jean survived the attack and was able to get neighbors to call 911. She was treated for fractures to her head and cuts to her hands. William was picked up later after being stopped for an unrelated traffic violation.
