The couple called 911 on August 1 to report Kamonie was making a “loud gurgling noise” and that when they checked on her they found her unresponsive. The girl’s mother, Shavone Whitehead, performed CPR on her daughter until paramedics arrived.
Kamonie was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston Hospital, where doctors would find the baby suffering from injuries to her legs, buttocks, chin and arms, multiple rib fractures and a possible skull fracture.
Sadly, after being on life support for the last two weeks, Kamonie was pronounced dead Saturday night.
When police questioned Whitehead about the girl’s injuries, she initially denied she was responsible, but later admitted the couple would beat her baby with a belt to punish her.
Just how bad could this baby have been? With the injuries she suffered its like she routinely set the house on fire, stole the family car for drug-fueled parties in downtown Atlanta, and was dealing crack to the neighbors from her crib.…
According to police, at around 2:30 in the morning, a concerned citizen notified them that there was a vehicle stopped in the road with someone passed out inside.
Police would find 35-year-old Melissa Tomesh passed out in her truck, facing the wrong way on the road. Ever the multitasker, Tomesh was breastfeeding her daughter at the same time.
“When the officers arrived they had to wake up the driver and after talking to her, they realized she was under the influence of something, possible drugs, or a combination of different medications,” said officer Lisa Holland.
Tomesh was taken into custody and is facing a list of charges, including DUI and child endangerment for transmitting drugs to her toddler through her breast milk. Her child was placed with relatives but CPS has been notified of the incident.
“We have contacted child protective custody. We have a detective working with them on the case to make arrangements for a safer environment for the child to be in,” Holland said.…
A delivery driver found the bodies of 17-year-old Natalie Henderson and 17-year-old Carter Davis behind the King Plaza shopping center at around 6 a.m. Monday. Police believe their bodies had been there since between 2 and 3 a.m.
Police say they found vehicles behind the Publix, but are not sure if they belong to the teenagers. Investigators are looking at surveillance video from nearby businesses in hopes of finding potential suspects and a motive.
Investigators say the teens knew each other and do not believe a drug transaction was involved. They have not said why the teenagers met behind the store in the early morning hours. Of course I don’t know either, but I have a very educated guess.
Davis was about to begin his senior year at River Ridge High School where he played on the school’s football and lacrosse teams.…
On Thursday, Terrell was with a friend at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, wading in the waters at the top of Rainbow Falls.
At some point Terrell’s friend noticed she was no longer in the water. After being unable to locate her, the friend called 911.
“Hi, I’m at Rainbow Falls. My friend got caught by the current, and I don’t know where she is, and I can’t find her,” the friend can be heard telling a 911 dispatcher.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and located Terrell’s body four hours later at the bottom of the 185 foot waterfall. The U.S. Forest Service said Terrell lost her footing and was swept over the falls by the current.
Terrell anchored 41NBC News at Daybreak and 41Today. The station released the following statement:
“Taylor was a hard worker with a bright smile. She rose through the ranks from intern to reporter, to weekend anchor, to morning anchor and was eager to prepare for her next chapter.…
In 2014, Lory was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a family member between July 2011 and July 2012. The victim, a female family member, was 9-years-old when the sexual abuse started.
During this time, Lory was retired from the Chamblee Police Department and had previously worked for MARTA Police. The case went to trial and Lory was found guilty of two counts of aggravated child molestation and two counts of child molestation.
As the jury foreman read the verdict, Lory drank a liquid from an over-the-counter vitamin bottle. It wasn’t until Lory was taken into custody and transported to the DeKalb jail that authorities learned the liquid Lory drank was poisonous. He was immediately taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Lory still faces sentencing, where he is looking at a possible life in prison. Lory really should followed William Moore and Steve Parson’s lead.…
WALTON COUNTY, GA – A genius shooting at a lawnmower stuffed with explosives blew off one of his legs, and the incident was captured on video.
Before I go on, the explosives the man was using is called Tannerite. It is often used with shooters in small amounts because when it is hit by a bullet, it will create a small explosion.
The manufacturer recommends using about 1/2 a pound but, as you can imagine, people often use a shitload more and like to stuff it into things to blow up – things like vehicles, wild hogs, and even barns.
In this case, 32-year-old David Pressley and his friends decided to load three pounds of Tannerite in an old lawnmower.
As you can see in the following video, Pressley takes multiple shots at the lawnmower with a rifle before he finally triggers an explosion. The resulting blast sent debris flying, and Pressley lost his left leg below the knee in the process.
Pressley’s friends used a tourniquet around his leg and drove him to a nearby road where EMS met the group and he was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.…
CLAYTON COUNTY, GA – A 15-year-old girl and her aunt have been charged after the teen allegedly punished her 4-year-old brother by hitting him multiple times with a leather belt, before holding him in a tub of hot water.
According to reports, the sister of 4-year-old Jamal Dunlap was punishing the boy for urinating on himself. The next day, police responded to the home after receiving a call of a boy having difficulty breathing.
Jamal was rushed to the hospital suffering from second- and third-degree burns over more than 40 percent of his body. He also had brain swelling and had an 80-degree core temperature. Jamal would die 30 minutes later.
Police would later arrest the 15-year-old girl and her aunt, 30-year-old Aleisha Harris, charging them both with murder and first-degree child cruelty charges. They were being held without bond Wednesday in the Clayton County Jail.
Harris’ brother said the only thing his sister is guilty of is trying to to “help a family in need.” He said that Harris was caring for the siblings because their parents dumped them on her and never returned.…
The incident happened on December 23, inside a Waffle House where Evans and 37-year-old Brian Mikeals both worked.
On that night, Mikeals got so sick that he was rushed to the hospital where he fell into a four week long coma. Staff were able to determine that the man had overdosed on methamphetamine.
Investigators quickly learned how the meth got into Mikeal after reviewing surveillance footage taken from inside the restaurant. In the video, Evans can be seen taking her coworker’s drink to the bathroom area while he was outside, then returning it without his knowledge.
Evans was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Why Evans would do something like this to her co-worker remains a mystery as she has refused to cooperate with the investigation.
However, in this video, Mikeals’ sister speculates the motive was because her brother spurned Evans’ romantic advances and refused to work with her.…
Debruhl was playing on the monkey bars during recess at Newton County Theme School when she slipped and her body became wedged between the bars.
Although there were other children playing nearby, along with teachers monitoring the playground, Debruhl was left with her feet dangling until she slowly asphyxiated herself.
When she was found, school officials and responding officers performed CPR on Debruhl, but it was too late. She was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.
Her death was ruled accidental on Wednesday, but the investigation is ongoing. Police say they don’t anticipate any criminal charges to be filed, but that decision will be up to the district attorney.
The Newton County School District released the following statement on Wednesday:
“We are struggling to comprehend the heartbreaking accident that occurred Monday afternoon and are grieving over the loss of such a beautiful little girl.…
Sewall and Hicks have been charged with first-degree cruelty to children for alleged acts against a child, whose age has not been released, in 2013 and 2014.
According to indictments, Hicks deprived the child “of necessary sustenance to the extent that the child’s health and well-being was jeopardized.”
Sewell is accused of hitting, kicking, and biting the girl on separate occasions, as well as causing the girl “cruel and excessive physical and mental pain by requiring her to eat her own feces.”
Hicks is facing one count of first-degree child cruelty while Sewell is facing three counts. The indictment does not detail the relationship between Hicks and Sewell, but the girl shares Hicks’ last name.
Sewell isn’t the only person we have featured on DD who has been accused of forcing a kid to eat their own shit. Nicole Candelaria was accused of forcing her boyfriend’s 3-year-old daughter to eat shit, and two women in New York allegedly forced a 2-year-old to eat feces from his own diaper.…
Last Wednesday afternoon, 86-year-old Roy Riffe was in his motorized wheelchair headed to a building located next to his home. On the way there, Roy ran off a concrete walkway and toppled out of his wheelchair.
Roy yelled for his wife, 74-year-old Maria Riffe, who came out of the house to help her husband. Maria, who relies on a walker, ended up falling before she reached her husband.
Now here’s the horrific part: Neither of them were able to help the other and the two remained on the ground, 20 yards apart, until 10:30 the next morning.
Roy Riffe was still alive when he was found, possibly because he was wearing a jacket and fleece pants. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover. Unfortunately, Maria did not make it. The poor lady was only wearing a housecoat when she fell and froze to death in front of her helpless husband.…
Police responded to Erbskorn’s home Tuesday night receiving a 911 call from one the boy’s siblings. Erbskorn told the responding officers that her son was going through a “rock and roll phase” and she was fed up with it.
She explained his change in attitude and appearance included him wearing a leather jacket, attempting to dye his hair red, and using eyeliner. So, she admitted, she used a Brillo pad to scrub that ungodly makeup right off his smartass face.
Not surprisingly, Erbskorn was taken into custody and placed in the Coweta County Jail on charges of charges of child cruelty, reckless conduct and battery.
Her son was taken to the emergency room were medical staff told investigators the boy had soap residue on his right eye socket, cheek, brow and ear. They also said his face was sore to the touch and his vision was blurred because of a scratch on his eyeball.…
COVINGTON, GA — Police in Georgia need help identifying the man filmed snatching a woman’s purse in a Walmart parking lot, then running over and killing her.
Surveillance footage shows 65-year-old Marsha Johnson returning to her car at a Covington Walmart when she is approached by an unknown male.
The man violently snags Johnson’s purse, causing her to fall to the ground, before he jumps in a nearby car. As the man drives away, he runs over Johnson several times, killing her.
“There was no way they could not have known that they had run over something, from what we saw on the video,” said police Capt. Ken Malcolm.
Police have released edited video of the attack in hopes someone will recognize the man or the vehicle he was driving. The vehicle involved is a mid-’90s model four-door Honda sedan that’s silver or gray and has extensive damage on the driver’s side.
The man is described as a Hispanic male with goatee, in his late 20s to early 30s, and weighing between 250 and 300 pounds.…
At around 9 p.m. Monday, police responding to a 911 call from Erdem who informed them he was parked at the First Baptist Church on Main Street.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found Erdem and his son, Hakan, inside a white pickup truck.
Hakan’s throat had been slashed open with a large kitchen knife, and Erdem was suffering from numerous, self-inflicted cuts to his arms. Harkam was pronounced dead at the scene while Erdem was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center.
Erdem’s wife showed up shortly after EMS had arrived because Erdem had left her a voicemail saying, “I’m sorry. Tell the daughters that this was an accident.”
She told police that Harkam, who has special needs and suffered from cerebral palsy, yelled and screamed a lot and needed constant care. Her husband, she added, had not slept for 10 days.
As of Tuesday, Erdem was still at the hospital, under police guard, with non-life-threatening injuries.…
SANDY SPRINGS, GA – Police in Georgia are asking for the public’s help in locating an 18-year-old man believed to have held a 14-year-old girl captive and repeatedly raped her over the next two days.
Police were called to the Azalea Park Apartments this past Halloween where the victim told them she and two friends attended a Halloween party inside one of the vacant apartments.
“According to our victim, there were approximately 20 people at this party. There was alcohol and marijuana smoking that was taking place inside this apartment,” said Sgt. Ron Momon of the Sandy Springs Police Department.
Several times during the party the teen said she tried to leave, but a man in his 30s was guarding the door and would not let her out. After the party was over, she says she was forced into a bathroom.
After the party was over, she says she was repeatedly raped for several days by an 18-year-old who goes by the name “Trey,” and another man. She managed to escape by climbing out of a bedroom window.…
AUGUSTA, GA – Tabathia Grooms helped bolster a few stereotypes regarding Georgians after she attacked her boyfriend, Carlos Grace, because he declined to have sex with her.
According to reports, the 35-year-old came home around 11:30 p.m. after a night of drinking. She was still fuming because, earlier in the day, Grace had refused to kiss that colostomy bag she calls a mouth.
As Grace sat on a couch, Grooms informed him that she’d went out and “fucked everyone else because he would not fuck her,” then physically attacked him. During the assault, Grooms allegedly scratched Grace on the face, head and neck and bit him on the arm before he was able to lock himself in the bathroom and call 911.
When police arrived, they reported that Grooms was “highly intoxicated” and refused to explain what had happened. She did admit to drinking and threatened to run a deputy over with a baby stroller if he did not move out of her way.
While at the residence, Grooms’ 66-year-old mother took one of the officers aside and told them that her daughter had punched her in the face during her tirade.…
MARIETTA, GA — Mary Pursley, a special education teacher at Mount Bethel Elementary School, was arrested after police say she put an autistic student into a trash can and compared him to Oscar the Grouch.
The incident happened on Thursday during an after-school program when a second-grade student with autism began yelling and screaming in the classroom because he was “angry and upset about returning inside” and because another student was bothering him.
Pursley came into the classroom to talk to the boy and told him that if he continued with his trashy behavior, she would put him in a trash can. The boy did not stop, so Pursley made good on her word.
So, in front of other students with special needs and three adults in the classroom, Pursley picked the boy up and held him upside down by his legs inside a trash can. According to the arrest warrant, the student was crying, screaming and yelling for Pursley to stop.
Pursley was arrested on Monday and is now facing a first degree felony charge of cruelty to children for causing excessive physical or mental pain.…
DECATUR, GA – Anthony Stokes received a life-saving heart transplant two years ago despite the teen initially being denied because of his behavior. On Tuesday afternoon he was killed during a high-speed car chase with police.
Stokes suffered from a dilated cardiomyopathy and was given less than a year to live. The condition causes his heart to pump blood insufficiently, and can lead to irregular heartbeats, blood clots or heart failure.
Doctors at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta removed him off the heart recipient list because of “non-compliance.” At the time, doctors stated this was because he did not take his medication regularly and felt he would not follow the post transplant medication regimen.
His mother went to the media claiming the hospital took her son off the list because they were stereotyping him as a troubled teen. Despite the fact that Stokes had low grades at school, had brushes with the law, and wore a court-ordered monitoring device, his mother said he was a good kid.
National media coverage and pressure from civil rights groups lead to the hospital giving the kid a new heart in August 2013.…
