BRISTOL, TN – Robert Denton, 19, has been accused of ambushing his family then fatally shooting his mother, stepfather and grandmother as six children watched.
Police say that on Saturday evening, Denton walked into his home armed with 100 rounds of ammunition and dressed clad in camouflage clothing.
While six children in the home looked on, Denton shot his mother, stepfather and grandmother. A neighbor said he heard a barrage of 10 to 12 gunshots and screaming that lasted less than a minute.
“It was just a barrage of ‘pow, pow, pow,” said Darrel Gray. “We heard somebody. They said, ‘Daddy, Daddy, Daddy.'”
After he was finished, Denton walked outside and laid down his gun. He then walked to a nearby trailer where his grandfather, Curtis Rose, was doing some repairs. Denton told the man, who hadn’t heard the gunshots over the noise of the power tools he was using, he needed to call 911.
Rose immediately went into the home where he found his family had been shot. He moved the children into another room, grabbed a pistol, and took off after his grandson.…
CHESTERFIELD, VA – Police say 35-year-old Barry Jernigan fatally shot his wife and two kids before killing himself Sunday evening.
Police were first alerted to the family’s home after Barry’s boss called to report that Barry had left him a message “that sounded threatening and possibly suicidal in nature.” Officers heard gunshots as they approached the home, but it was already too late.
Barry’s wife, 30-year-old Renotta Jernigan, and stepdaughter, 9-year-old Alexis Kellas, had both collapsed in the front yard after being shot. Neighbors who’d heard the gunfire were providing first aid to the victims, but Renotta would die on the scene while Alexis would die later at the hospital.
Inside the home, police would find 2-year-old Seth Jernigan had been shot to death as he lay in his crib. As for Barry, he was also found in the home, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. “At this point, the investigation indicates that Barry Jernigan shot his son, stepdaughter and wife before turning the gun on himself,” police said in a statement.…
COEUR d’ALENE, ID – Police have arrested 14-year-old Eldon Samuel III and charged him with the brutal murder of his father and younger brother.
Police say Samuel called 911 Monday night to report a shooting had occurred at his family’s home. When police arrived, they found Samuel at the residence, along with the dead bodies of his father, Eldon Samuel Jr., 46, and his younger brother, Jonathan Samuel, 13.
Authorities say a handgun, shotgun, knife and machete were used in the murders, and that Samuel shot his father in the head and then shot, stabbed and cut his younger brother.
Samuel was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said the teen will be charged as an adult. Samuel is currently being held in the Kootenai County Public Safety Building on a $1 million bond.
Because I have written so many articles regarding teens killing family members, I have warned my kids that if I even perceive them as any form of a threat, I will beat them to death in their sleep without a moment’s hesitation.…
According to the police report, 15-year-old Nehemiah Griego walked into his parents’ bedroom shortly after midnight on Saturday and retrieved a .22 caliber rifle from the closet. His father was not home at the time but his mother, 40-year-old Sara Griego, was sleeping alongside Nehemiah’s 9-year-old brother, Zephania.
Nehemiah took aim and shot his mother in the head as she was sleeping. His brother woke up and did not believe Nehemiah had killed their mother, so Nehemiah told police he lifted her head to show his brother her bloody face. When his brother began crying, Nehemiah shot him in the head as well.
He then walked into the bedroom of his two sisters, 5-year-old Jael and 2-year old Angelina, who were in their beds crying. He then shot them both in the head. Afterwards, he retrieved an AR-15 and hid in a downstairs bathroom for hours, waiting on his father to arrive home.…
Police say Tonya Thomas, 33, fatally shot her four children early Tuesday morning. Deputies identified the children as Pebbles Johnson, 17; Jaxs Johnson, 15; Jazlin Johnson, 13; and Joel Johnson, 12.
Three of the children – one of them ‘covered in blood’ – had reportedly gone to a neighbor’s front door before dawn to say that their mother had shot them. The mother then called the children back to the house and killed them, said Lt. Tod Goodyear, a spokesman for the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
“From what the neighbors said, she was very calm. She walked out and called them back. They turned around and walked back to the house,” Goodyear said.
The neighbor then heard gunshots and called 911.
According to police, another neighbor said that Thomas had sent a text message in the middle of the night saying she wanted to be cremated with her children.…
Brooklyn, OH – An Ohio father was killed by police after shooting and killing his wife and daughter – and critically wounded a second daughter – during the murdered daughter’s birthday party at Cracker Barrel. This after the wife told him that she was divorcing him.
According to police records, on Thursday evening Katherina (Kate) Allen, 42, brought her daughters Kerri and Kayla, both 10, to Cracker Barrel to celebrate Kerri’s birthday with their father Kevin Allen, 51,. Because of an “incident” that had occurred Easter Sunday, Kate Allen had left the family home with the girls to stay with a family friend. Kevin Allen arrived to the restaurant separately.
During the course of the dinner, Kate Allen reportedly called police saying she had just told her husband she wanted to end their marriage and that he had left the restaurant and was circling the parking lot. She added that she feared ‘he might become violent.’
Her fears were not unfounded. Three minutes later, Kevin Allen would walk back into Cracker Barrel carrying a loaded shotgun.…
Emington, Ill — Residents of a small farming community 80 miles southwest of Chicago are still dealing with the horrifying events that unfolded in their neighborhood Friday, when a woman shot her boyfriend and three children to death before turning the gun on herself.
Shortly after kids had arrived home from school to start their Christmas break, people reported hearing a series of gunshots coming from the home of 30-year-old Sara McMeen.
One of McMeen’s neighbors told the press that after hearing the gunfire she ran out of her home and saw McMeen in her backyard standing over her daughter, 10-month-old Maggie Warren. The baby was wrapped in a blanket and lying on the ground as if she had been dropped. The neighbor, whose backyard butted up against McMeen’s backyard, asked if everything was all right.
“No, everything is not all right,” McMeen reportedly told the neighbor before bending over at the waist and shooting her baby at point-blank range. Horrified, the neighbor ran for help only to find McMeen lying beside her infant when she returned, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.…
Medicine Hat, Canada — One of the cases that has fascinated me over the years is the Richardson family murders in Medicine Hat, Canada. Back in April 2006, Marc Richardson, 42, and his wife Debra, 48, were found in stabbed to death in the basement of their home. Their 8-year-old son, Jacob, was found dead on his bed with a slit throat. Their 12-year-old daughter, Jasmine Richardson, was no where to be found.
When the reports first started coming out, investigators feared the young girl had been abducted. But to everyone’s surprise the girl was arrested the following day, along with her 23-year-old boyfriend Jeremy Steinke, each charged with the murder of the girl’s family. The motive? Jasmine’s parents had forbid her from seeing the much older Jeremy.
The pair had some interesting conversations online, including one to Jeremy from Jasmine that read “I have this plan. It begins with me killing them and ends with me living with you.” Jeremy replied “I love your plan but we need to get a little more creative with like details and stuff.”
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have arrested three men in connection to the brutal murder of a family found dead in their home on Tuesday.
Police were called to the home after concerned relatives asked them to check on their welfare. Once inside, police would find someone had murdered Lorenzo Graves, his wife Cheryl, and their 4-year-old daughter Ozzie.
Graves’ sister says he and his wife were found shot to death downstairs, while Ozzie was found dead upstairs on the side of her parent’s bed where it seems she had been hiding. She had been stabbed to death.
Chief Rodney Monroe said robbery was the motive. He called the crime barbaric. “(It’s) very hard,” Monroe said. “(It’s) senseless. There’s nothing that that 4-year-old child could’ve done (or) said to harm any of those individuals.”
Later that day, police would have 25-year-old Joseph Amous and 27-year-old Lorenzo White in their custody. Detectives honed in on Amous after learning he had been charged with breaking into the family’s apartment in June. Charges against Amous were dismissed the next month when Graves refused to give police a written statement.…
Eau Claire, WI – In 1998, Cher Cha Moua, 54, of Wisconsin, fatally shot his wife, Va T. Moua, 37, and his daughter, high school senior Goshoua Moua, 18, at their mobile home. Moua then drove across town and shot his daughter’s boyfriend, Teng Xiong, 16, at the teen’s home about five miles away, seriously wounding him.
Moua reportedly pleaded guilty but, based on psychologist reports, Eau Claire County Judge Benjamin Proctor instead found him not legally responsible for the shooting spree. In May of 1998, Proctor ordered Moua’s commitment to the Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison.
But, it appears that Wisconsin suffers from a fear of commitment… Wisconsin state law requires that a petition for conditional release must be granted if a judge determines the individual under a mental commitment no longer is at risk of causing bodily harm to himself or others.
In 2006, Judge Proctor approved just such a conditional release Moua. It didn’t work out so well, though… After being released from a state mental institution, Moua was sent back because he took some sleeping pills and stabbed himself in the stomach, chest and neck — drawing blood.…
Madison, WI – James A. Larry, 33, of Madison, Wisconsin was angry that his family would not go along with his conversion to Islam. Very angry. Apparently now seeing the error of his ways, Larry pleaded guilty Wednesday to their murders.
Larry had converted to Islam while serving a prison sentence in Wisconsin for a weapons conviction. His family chose not to convert.
“He was upset at his wife and their family — he felt disrespected that they would not join his religion,” Assistant State’s Attorney Jim McKay said. “He wanted them dead.”
In the early morning hours of April 14, 2010, at the family home, Larry began by shooting his mother, Leona Larry, 57, as she slept on a sofa in the living room. He then went through the house, shooting his wife, Twanda Thompson, 19; his 7-month-old son, Jihad; his 3-year-old niece, Keleasha Larry; and his pregnant 16-year-old niece, Keyshai Fields.
Larry also shot his 13-year-old nephew, Demond Larry, in the face, but the boy survived.
Prosecutors said the defendant also kicked in the bedroom door of a man who lived in the basement of the home and tried to shoot him – apparently because he rented from infidels(?).…
UPPER MERION, Pa. — A man with a history of mental illness has been charged with the stabbing deaths of his mother, father and twin brother on Saturday.
Police were responding to a domestic disturbance call at the home of 70-year-old Joseph McAndrew, 64-year-old Susan McAndrew. The couple lived there with their two sons Joseph and James McAndrew, both 23.
When they arrived, they found Joseph outside in the driveway covered in blood. Inside the home, reportedly in the kitchen, they found the dead bodies of his family. All three had been stabbed to death. Police described the bloody scene as ‘violent’ and ‘gruesome’ adding that it was apparent the three had fought for their lives.
Joseph, who has a history of mental illness, was taken into custody and charged with three counts of first-degree murder. Detectives removed several knives from the home, including a samurai sword.
A friend of James told reporters that he had just recently mentioned dealing with his twin brother’s mental instability. “[He said], ‘I have to go back home and deal with his paranoia.’ I said, ‘what do you mean?’ He said, ‘my brother thinks everybody is after him,'” the friend recounted.…
Denver, Colorado — Police in Denver have arrested a 12-year-old boy after his parents were found dead in their home, and two of his younger siblings were found critically injured.
On Tuesday night, the 12-year-old called 911 reporting shots had been fired and that three people in the home had been shot. When police arrived at the home, they found the dead bodies of Charles Long, 50, and his wife, Marilyn Long, 51. They also found a 5-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy suffering from life-threatening injuries. The 12-year-old was uninjured and taken in for questioning.
The two younger children were taken to Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to The Children’s Hospital in Aurora, where they remained were listed in critical condition yesterday afternoon.
Yesterday they were not calling the young boy a suspect, although he was being questioned and the police told the public they did not suspect a person at large. Today they announced they have arrested the 12-year-old.
“The case has been referred to the district attorney for the filing of formal charges against the 12-year-old,” said Steve Johnson, the assistant director of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation “There are no other suspects at this time.…
Tallahassee, Florida — After receiving a call from a concerned neighbor, police found the bodies of a mother and her three young children dead inside their home Saturday morning. Police identified the victims as Brandi Peters, 27 and her children, twins Tamiyah and Taniyah Peters, 6; and Jovante Segura, 3. The autopsies have been completed and the deaths ruled as homicide but they are being tight-lipped on the cause of death. They did tell the press that the crime scene showed signs of violence. Rumors were that this was a result of a robbery gone bad because of recent break-ins in the area and a photograph of some broken glass at the home, but police have stated that there were no signs of a break-in and the broken glass came from police gaining entry into the home. “I want to assure the public that we are following up on active leads in this case,” said Chief Dennis Jones of the Tallahasee Police Department. “We cannot release details, as it would adversely affect our ability to solve this crime.” Neighbors are shocked.…
PENNSAUKEN, N.J. — Police say 54-year-old Alfred Moton shot his three teenage sons, killing two of them, at their home in New Jersey before setting the house on fire and being shot to death by police. Late Thursday evening while his wife was at work, Moton shot 18-year-old Alfred “AJ” Jr., 12-year-old Stephen, and 16-year-old Charles Moton. A neighbor reported seeing AJ running from the home and jumping a fence, while Charles collapsed in a neighbor’s driveway from a shot to the chest. AJ would be found where he collapsed and died and Stephen would be found dead inside the home. Charles survived his shot to the chest but just barely, he is in the hospital in critical condition. After the shootings, Moton set fire to the family’s home and was found by police standing in a sun room with a gas can, a lighter and a handgun. When he charged at the responding officers, they opened fire killing him. Moton’s co-workers are having a hard time believing the same quiet, respectful man who often gushed about his three sons was capable of doing the things he has been accused of. …

WOBURN, Mass. – You guys remember that disgusting coward who killed his entire family after getting into an argument with his wife? For the link impaired, back in June, Thomas Mortimer IV was arrested and charged with the stabbing deaths of his wife, Laura Stone-Mortimer, her mother, Ragna Ellen Stone, and the couple’s two children, Charlotte, 2, and Thomas,4, after becoming enraged over a bounced check to the IRS. He attempted suicide, but as usual with murdering cowards they just never seem to get that part right. Anyway, police found a couple notes he had written sometime after he diced up his family, and his attorney had been trying to get the contents of the notes sealed from public view. The note included Mortimer stating “I hate myself more than ever,” and “I wonder what life would be like if I did not chicken out.” He writes about letting his hatred of his wife’s family fester “until one murderous night,” and that he was “ashamed, frightened, relieved, surprised that I murdered my family, disgusted with myself.” When his attorney was unable to have the notes suppressed, she tried to get four lines removed from public view fearing they could prejudice jurors.…
GASTON COUNTY, NC – When 24-year-old Tracy Hedgepath did not show up for work on Friday, her co-workers contacted her parents who went out to their daughters home to check on her. Once there they found all of the cars in the driveway of the home Hedgepeth shared with her three young children and her boyfriend, 25-year-old Austen Minter. They began repeatedly knocking on the door until finally, 7-year-old Destiny answered. She had been shot in the head. The grandparents immediately called 911 in which you can clearly hear the little girl say that “Daddy did it.” Police say that Minter shot Hedgepath, who was 3-months pregnant, during an argument. He then shot 7-year-old Destiny, 6-year-old Austen II, and 3-year-old Serenity before turning the gun on himself. Police think the girl had been lying with her dead family for a few hours before her grandparents showed up. The couple have a history of domestic violence issues, Minter being described as a monster by Hedgepeth’s family telling the media that he was also violent with his own family members.…
