Man Who Extorted, Raped Women He Met On Facebook Gets 10 Years In PrisonLIHUE, Hawaii  – It’s no secret that men will go through great lengths to get laid. Hell, even I’ve had to sit through a couple Matthew McConaughey flicks, all in the name of vagina.  But the elaborate steps one man in Hawaii took to sink the pink ended with him being convicted of sexual assault charges and getting himself a decade behind bars.

Back in 2010, 29-year-old Leonard Alpeche Jr. came up with a way to meet women for sex that was unbelievably convoluted and entirely illegal. He assumed the identity of a real 15-year-old girl and would use a fake Facebook account to promise women a lucrative career in modeling.

Claiming to be a model working for a local modeling agency, he would tell the women to contact an email address or phone number to sign up for a modeling contract. Surprisingly (or not), two women took the bait. Alpeche then used a series of email addresses, phone numbers, and Internet messaging services to assume the roles of various modeling agency employees, including a secretary, an agent, and a photographer.…

Man Linked To Extortion Using Explicit Pics And Vids On Stolen LaptopSt. Paul, MN - A six-time felon is being held on federal weapons charges while he is being investigated regarding the alleged extortion of a female Ohio State University student whose laptop was stolen. The laptop reportedly contained explicit pictures and videos of the owner.

Demonte Johntrell Latimore, 24, has been linked by police and FBI to email accounts used to extort money from the owner of the laptop.

According to police, on Dec. 5 a female college sophomore at Ohio State University reported that someone had stolen her Apple MacBook when she left is briefly unattended while at the campus library. Two weeks later, the student said she received an e-mail from a stranger: “Well you don’t know me but I’m sure I have something you want very badly back. The question is how BAD…..?? Oh yeah, you have a very lovely body,” it said.

According to the FBI’s Cyber Crime Task Force in Minneapolis, the e-mail coming from iwant300dollars@gmail.com traced back to an email address in St. Paul, Minnesota.…

Teen Accused Of Faking Kidnapping To Extort GrandmotherWhite River Junction, VT – A 19-year-old girl has been accused of faking her own abduction in an effort to extort money from her grandmother so she could pay off a drug dealer.

Monday night, 73-year-old Patricia Swanson received a call at her home from a man demanding she bring him $600 as her granddaughter, Megan, could be heard crying in the background. If she did not bring him the money, the man told her, he was going to kill her.

When Swanson told the unknown man that she didn’t have that kind of cash, he threatened her as well. Fearing for her life and her granddaughter’s, Swanson complied and agreed to drop the money off wherever he instructed.

When Swanson dropped off the cash at the drop off spot, Megan’s kidnappers were unaware that they had been set up. Patricia had called police beforehand and they were there watching in unmarked cruisers. They say 20-year-old Joshua Rice was the one who arrived at the location and grabbed the cash.

Police pulled a car over as it was leaving the scene and found 21-year-old Kevin Emery and the alleged hostage, Megan.…

Video Captures Cop Offering Legal Assistance In Exchange For SexAlbuquerque, NM - Now-former Albuquerque Police Department Officer Matt Kindle has gotten himself in a bit of hot water after being recorded in a hotel room offering to help a prostitute with her legal trouble in exchange for sex.

According to police, Kindle had been communicating by phone with a prostitute who had left town and he had apparently never met. He reportedly offered to help get her out of a criminal case if she’d come back to town and meet him. That woman, instead, called police. The result was APD replacing the prostitute with an informant and setting up a sting.

“It’s my lunch so I have time to chitchat,” Kindle – in full uniform – can be heard saying at the start the video. …and chit-chat they did. The video captures his entire lunch hour and a some 20 minutes longer while he an the informant discuss a range of topics. The topics included the fact that the informant doesn’t look quite like he had been told.

“Heather said you were really skinny when you left?” Kindle said to the woman.…

Elaborate Potato Chip Company Extortion Plot Foiled By Police Cincinnati, OH – Police have charged Frank Pence, 47, in an Ocean’s Eleven-esque scheme to extort money from a local potato chip company. Thankfully, the elaborate heist was foiled by equally brilliant countermeasures.

Court documents say that, on Wednesday, Pence broke into Grippo’s Potato Chip Factory in suburban Cincinnati. Stolen were a computer disk, titles of company vehicles, random business papers and a book of payroll checks. A note was also left at the scene addressed to the company president.

In the note, the perpetrator or perpetrators demanded that – unless $22,000 cash was paid in accordance with specific methods of delivery – personal matters of Grippo employees would be disclosed and the stolen items would be destroyed. The letter dictated that the $22,000 was to be left – in a bucket – behind a nearby abandoned IGA grocery store for collection.  Company officials, realizing that they must have somehow become the unwitting targets of a sophisticated and sinister crime syndicate, called police.

Responding officers – thankfully trained to deal with this level of criminal element – filled a bucket with fake money, put it behind the abandoned grocery store, and set up surveillance.…

Teacher Accused Of Using Facebook To Lure KidsWEST SENECA, N.Y. – Looks like we have another man posing as a woman on Facebook to get pictures from young boys, then blackmailing them into sending him more. Our first story was last month and involved a UNC college student, now it involves a substitute teacher.

The FBI says 25-year-old Timothy Bek, a former substitute teacher at West Seneca West Senior High School, has been charged with possession of child pornography after he got busted posing as a woman named “Sarah Grayson” on Facebook and talking underage students into sending him naked photos of themselves.

These charges may be upgraded as investigators have proof that he also attempted to blackmail his victims, telling them if they do not send him more photos, he’d distribute the ones he already had. They originally identified three victims, and now have identified several others. They are now trying to find out if some or all of the victims attended West Seneca High School.

While Assistant Superintendent Dr. Patrick Phelan said they’re not aware of Bek behaving inappropriately with students while employed with the school district, police are looking into whether Bek used school equipment, or his position in the schools, to search for his potential victims.…

Najie Walker Held Scrappy for Ransom

February 20, 2010 at 10:34 pm by

Silver Spring, MD – Last weekend, Gloria Chicas probably was a little worried and/or irritated with her two canine companions Scooby and Scrappy, as they had gotten out and run away. Luckily, both dogs were wearing tags, but the call she got didn’t lead to the happy reunification of which she was no doubt dreaming. Instead, the man on the other end of the line said she could have her dogs back–once she gave him money. Chicas agreed to meet the man at a local restaurant, but once she arrived there, she found neither the man nor her dogs, so she called police. A convoluted series of phone calls, a cop posing as Chicas’s nephew, a meeting at McDonald’s, and one attempt to flee later, Scrappy is home, Scooby is dead, and 21-year-old Najie S. Walker is in jail.…

Kathryn Arcana Wanted The Money

July 29, 2009 at 2:47 am by

West Hartford, CT- Not a baby-beater, but this one really got my blood boiling. On July 24, police arrested 40-year old Kathryn Arcana, a worker at the American School for the Deaf, and charged her with first-degree larceny after receiving a complaint that she had extorted money from a learning-disabled, hearing-impaired co-worker. Apparently, it all began last December when Arcana borrowed money from the co-worker after she told him she had lost her wallet. Seeing an easy mark, Arcana became greedy and decided to make the man her own  personal ATM machine. She began sending him e-mails from her Blackberry demanding money she said she needed for rent, car repairs, and and other expenses because “her cousin had stolen money from her.”

Gimme What I Want, Or The Pooch Gets It

June 30, 2009 at 12:19 pm by

Lancaster, CaliforniaDamn…it takes a special kind of loser to threaten the life of a teenager’s beloved dog. It takes an even bigger loser to threaten said teen with the torture of her pooch if she doesn’t put out. Authorities believe that Alfredo Dempkey did just that. The pup in question, a toy poodle/cocker spaniel mix named Pineapple, wandered away from her home last Friday evening. The teen was brokenhearted. Imagine her relief when she received a phone call the next day from a man who claimed to have found her precious pooch! That relief quickly faded to fear and disgust when the ass on the other end of the line revealed his demands for Pineapple’s safe return. …

Donna Mitchell Is Accused Of Bribery

TERRE HAUTE, IND - John Beaty, 73, is a former principal and teacher at Martinsville High School. He now faces charges of sexual misconduct with a minor after being accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy. Normally, especially on this site, that would be the story in a nutshell. But this story isn’t about Beaty as much as it is about the 14-year-old boy’s mother, Donna Mitchell, 35. Mitchell is accused of trying to extort money from Beaty by telling him that if he were to give her 300,000 dollars, she would not turn him in to police.…
