Woman Who Punched Elderly Walmart Greeter Sentenced To Five Years In PrisonBATAVIA, NY — Last year we reported on Jacquetta Simmons, the woman who punched an elderly Walmart worker in the face after being asked to show her receipt. Last week a judge sentenced Simmons to five years in prison.

On Christmas Eve of last year,  26-year-old Jacquetta Simmons and her male companion were leaving a Walmart after having purchased some items at the electronics section located in the back of the store.

When 70-year-old Grace Suozzi asked to check her receipts against the items she was carrying out, Simmons punched the elderly woman in the face, knocking her to the ground and fracturing the bones in the side of her face.

Simmons and her friend fled to the parking lot but other employees and customers quickly surrounded their car and prevented them from leaving until police showed up. Simmons was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree assault, and released later on $40,000 bond.

Simmons would plead not guilty, but a jury would end up finding Simmons guilty in August and convict her under the state’s “Granny Law,” a law that gives stiffer penalties for assaulting anyone 65 or older.…

Elderly Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 11 Year Old GirlSPARTANBURG, S.C. — An 81-year-old man was arrested after police say he sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl as she walked home from school.

The child’s grandmother told police that the girl was walking home from school when James Holmes grabbed her, hugged her, touched her breast and put his tongue in her mouth.

Police arrested Holmes and charged him with assault and battery. He was later released on a $20,000 bond. In his defense, Holmes says he is sorry and the entire incident was just an err in judgement.

“I just hugged her the wrong way,” he told News 4’s Gabrielle Komorowski. “I apologize. I’m sorry it ever happened. I knew better. It’s not anything that I’m proud of.”

The girl’s grandmother says her granddaughter has seen Holmes sitting on his porch before, but that she did not know him. She says she went public with the story in hopes of protecting other children.

“The man has got to be sick in the head to do something like this to a child.…

One of the women, who is 96 years old, suffered two broken ribs when her wheelchair fell during the incident.

Elderly Man Convicted Of Beating Girlfriend To Death With Battery WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – An 82-year-old Florida man will find out later this month if he will be serving life in prison after being convicted Monday of beating his girlfriend to death with a flashlight battery.

Back in 2010, Alfred Infosino called 911 and said he had just “killed somebody.”  He told the dispatcher that he had beat his girlfriend to death with a flashlight battery and was now drinking ammonia.

When police arrived at his residence, they found 77-year-old Rita Chirel laying naked on the floor of the master bedroom in a pool of blood. Paramedics tried to revive Chirel, but she would die as a result of blunt force injuries and loss of blood.

Police had no record of ever visiting the couple, but neighbors reported that the couple had been arguing lately, Infosino saying he was thinking of moving out and Chirel had dropped him as executor of her estate.

On Monday, Infosino was convicted of second-degree murder and will be back in court later this month where he could be sentenced to life behind bars.…

Nurses Aide Pleads Guilty To Abusing Elderly PatientCleveland, OH – People who abuse the defenseless absolutely sicken me, especially people like Virgen Caraballo. She was a nurse’s aide trained to care for her elderly patients who, along with others at Prentiss Center Nursing Home, were caught on camera abusing an elderly woman.

Esther Piskor, 78, suffers from Alzheimer’s and has been a patient at the facility for over three years. The abuse she was suffering at the hands of her caregivers came to light when her son noticed a red mark on his mother’s face and the fact that she raised her hand in a defensive manner when he came towards her.

Suspecting abuse, he set up a hidden camera in his mother’s room and captured 45-year-old Virgen Caraballo and other aides abusing his mother. The video clearly captured Carabello slinging Piskor on the bed or in her chair and slapping her in the face. Other video showed aides screaming at Piskor or standing by as the abuse was happening.

Caraballo was arrested and charged with felony assault along with a second nurse’s aide, Maria Karban, who was caught spraying body perfume in Piskor’s face. Caraballo’s trial was supposed to start today, but yesterday she decided that facing a jury wasn’t such a good idea and pleaded guilty to seven counts of patient abuse or neglect.…

No Jail For Woman, 92, Who Shot At Man Who Refused To Kiss HerOCALA, Fla. – The elderly woman who shot into a man’s home after he refused to kiss her has been given two years probation.

We first posted about ol’ Helen Staudinger back in March after she wanted a kiss from her 53-year-old neighbor so bad, she refused to leave his house until she got one. Dwight Bettner has had issues with Staudinger before, the elderly woman saying he was supposed to be her man and had even tried to strangle a woman she thought he was having sex with.

On this occasion, Bettner rebuked Staudinger’s advances and escorted her out of his home. Scorned, Staudinger went to her house, grabbed her .380 semi-automatic handgun and squeezed off four shots at Bettner’s home, one bullet missing Bettner by inches. Staudinger, who told police she was aiming at Bettner’s car, was charged with aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

Prosecutors later decided not to pursue the charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. Staudinger has been ordered to stay away from Bettner and is no longer allowed to possess a firearm.…

Young Burglar Dies After Scuffle With Elderly HomeownerEVERETT, Wash. — A young man allegedly trying to steal the motor of a boat has died after getting into a scuffle with the boat’s elderly owner.

A 67-year-old man observed the man, described as being in his 20s, breaking into his boat parked in his driveway. The homeowner called police before going out to confront the man. The two ended up in a physical confrontation with the senior getting the upper-hand and pinning the man to the ground.

When deputies arrived, they found that the boat’s owner was still holding the would-be thief on the ground, and that the young man was not breathing. Police attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The older man was not physically injured, but was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

A cause of death has not been determined at this point, but who cares. “I thought that was pretty cool that an old man could keep him at bay,” Neighbor Cindy Bye said. “I mean I`m sorry that he passed away but more power to the old man.”

No charges have been filed.…

Elderly Woman Killed In Skateboard CollisionCAPITOLA, Calif. - An 83-year-old woman has died after a 17-year-old skateboarder collided with her in a crossswalk.

Maryann Slettehaugh was out on her daily walk when she crossed the Stockton Avenue bridge in a marked pedestrian crosswalk. As she entered the bicycle lane, she was struck by a teenager on a skateboard traveling anywhere from 15 to 20mph.

Capitola police Sgt. Andrew Dally said the skateboarder, who was traveling down a steep hill, tried to avoid hitting Slettehaugh by jumping off his board.”It was not a malicious type of act,” he told reporters. “He seemed like a pretty clean-cut and honest kid.”

The teen stayed at the scene as he and bystanders tried to render aid to Slettehaugh who had fallen unconscious. One witness said the kid looked ”a little bit dazed and a little overwhelmed by the whole situation.”  Slettehaugh was airlifted to Valley Medical Center where she would die later that evening.

Woman, 92, Fires Shots Into Home Of Man Who Denied Her A KissOCALA, Fla. – Poor Helen Staudinger. All she wanted was a kiss from her 53-year-old neighbor, Dwight Bettner.

She wanted one so bad that she refused to leave his house until she got one. But Bettner rebuked her advances, explaining that he had a girlfriend already and that she needed to get her ass out of his house.

The 92-year-old woman returned home scorned to retrieve a .380 semi-automatic handgun she used to fire four times into Bettner’s home. She told police that she was aiming at the car he loved so much, but all four shots went into the home, one of the bullets missing the man by mere inches.

According to the police report, Bettner told police that he has had ongoing issues with Ms. Straudinger since he moved in six months ago and feels that she is enamored with him. Despite telling Staudinger that he’s in a relationship, she insists he is “supposed to be her man.”

Teen Says Hes Sorry He Beat Elderly Couple To Death With Baseball BatMUNFORD, TN -- As he was being led out of jail, the teenager accused of beating an elderly couple to death with a baseball bat told reporters that he was sorry for what he had done.

Jacob Brown, 16, has been charged with two counts of premeditated first degree murder, two counts of felony first degree murder, and aggravated burglary after police say he brutally murdered 80-year old James Walker and his wife, 75-year old Bertha Walker.

According to TBI agent Mark Reynolds, Brown said that before he murdered the couple, he had been in the Walkers’ house using the bathroom. He apparently left, and later came back with a baseball bat hidden under his coat. Reynolds said Brown never gave a reason for the attack, other than to say he was angry.

But a neighbor of the Walkers’, Scott Locke, testified that he and Brown had conversations about their nosy neighbors. Locke said Brown suggested killing them, but he thought it was a joke. That is until Brown sent a text message that reportedly said, “You wanted your nosy neighbors dead, right?” Then, later that afternoon, Locke said Brown told him, “It’s done.”

Locke would later tell prosecutors the dead couple weren’t even the neighbors he was joking about with Brown.…

Elderly Man Accused Of Drugging, Sexually Assaulting Home AideElgin, IL. — Today I’m questioning everything I thought I knew about the sex drive of the elderly. A 74-year-old man has been accused of drugging and sexually assaulting his health caretakers.

Police were notified by a home health service company that one of their employees, a 54-year-old home healthcare worker, suspected that 74-year-old Raymond Kvacik had tried to spike her orange juice with sleeping pills.

When police began their investigation, they sent an undercover police officer to the home posing as a caretaker. Sure enough, wily, old bastard was caught red-handed as he dropped sleeping pills into the officer’s drink. Need less to say, he was arrested.

Police say that on Feb 14th, Kvacik took things a step further after drugging up another caretaker when he sexually assaulted her. The pervy coot has been charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and three counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. He appeared in bond court today, where bond was set at $150,000.…

Elderly Man Admits Raping Alzheimer’s Patient

January 26, 2011 at 12:47 pm by

NEWARK, Ohio — A 71-year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison after admitting he raped an Alzheimer’s patient back in April.

Police say that last year, a Good Samaritan called police after they spotted a van from the Licking County Aging Program parked along a nature trail at the Spring Valley Nature Preserve. Inside the van they witnessed the driver, Donald Moore, with a 70-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s wearing only a bra.

Moore, admitted to police that he touched the woman sexually, raped her with his fingers and forced her to touch his genitals on several occasions between December 2009 when he drove her between her home and day care. He told police not to worry, as he was pretty sure she liked it. Investigators say the non-verbal woman’s physical and mental condition left her unable to resist or consent to Moore’s activities.

Described as a “Good Time Charlie” and a valued employee for seven years, Moore’s day in court was delayed a couple times because he is battling cancer and barely has the use of his legs.…

Serial Rapist Preys On The Elderly

January 6, 2011 at 11:49 am by

Germantown, MD – A 68 year old woman was lying in bed Wednesday morning when a man entered her Germantown, MD apartment and sexually assaulted her. After interviewing the victim, police believe this is the same man who raped her back on June 19th around 3:20 am. That’s right… he came back for a repeat. This guy must really like great-grandmas because police linked the June attack to the rape of an 86 year old woman living in Churchill Senior Living Center, which is across the street from the 68 year old victim’s apartment. The rape of the 86 year old occurred on August 21st around 4 am when the suspect gained access to the woman’s apartment through an unlocked window and assaulted her as she slept in her bed. The woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment, although her injuries were non-life-threatening. The suspect is described as a black man, 16 – 25 years old, 5’10” tall, weighing about 145 pounds. Los Angeles, CA – Mary and Betty Sugiyama, both in their 80s, had planned to spend Sunday doing what they love most — shopping. They had planned to pick up items at Walmart and Nordstrom Rack in Long Beach  and didn’t want to miss their train that had just arrived into the Little Tokyo station.  As they were rushing to board the train, the sisters noticed a woman sitting alone on a bench near the tracks. As they went passed her, she suddenly jumped up and shouted something before pushing Betty off the platform and onto the tracks. Mary said she heard her sister’s skull crack and then watched as the woman, dressed in all black, sit back down without uttering a word. Betty would be rushed to the hospital, but died from her injuries on Sunday night. When police arrived at the scene, they found Jackkqueline Pogue, 44, still on the platform. She was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder. As I type this out there is still no motive in the attack, but I am guessing Pogue ain’t right in the head.…

The wifey became enraged and began yelling racial slurs when Crockett picked up the woman and put her on her own cart then proceeded to ram her cart, with her in it, into a counter several times before she fell out onto the floor. As she lay on the ground screaming for help, Crockett flipped her cart on top of her then went back to checking out his groceries with his wife. LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. - — An 81-year-old man has been arrested and charged with beating his 94-year-old roommate to death at an Orange County nursing home. Police say that around 11:20 p.m. Friday at Palm Terrace Healthcare Center, William McDougall grabbed a metal bar used to hang clothes and repeatedly struck Manh Ban Nguyen in the head with it. Nguyen would be pronounced dead at the hospital. A motive for the attack is not known at this time, but McDougall is being held without bail, charged with suspicion of murder. I dunno what’s more troubling about this story…a man making it to 84 before deciding to commit murder, or a man making it to 94 only to have his brains bashed out by his roommate. I’m curious to see if they ever discover a motive, or if the reason for the attack is that McDougall is just delusional and thought Nguyen was Mitsumasa Yonai or something. If the latter, I bet the nursing home will be answering some tough questions.…

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Here’s a story that should piss you off with a video that will have you wanting to knock the teeth out of 52-year-old Carmen Pereira. She is the home health care worker accused of regularly beating on the 91-year-old Alzheimer’s patient she has been taking care of for the last 11 years. Her abuse was caught on video after the elderly woman’s family installed a camera in her room so that other family member’s could keep in contact with her. Before leaving on a trip, the woman’s daughter turned on the camera and when she returned she found bruises on her mother. She checked out the video and was horrified at what it had captured. Pereira can be seen routinely manhandling, slapping, and pulling the defenseless woman’s hair. She has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with extreme indifference, endangering the welfare of an incompetent person and neglect of an elderly/disabled person. I’ve included the six minute video after the break, and while it isn’t the worst abuse we’ve seen here, it isn’t any less infuriating.…
