Phoenix, AZ - A wise man once said, “A word to the wise ain’t necessary, it’s the stupid ones who need the advice.” That said, here’s a bit of advice: Bathtubs don’t make good playpens. One family had to go and learn that the hard way SundaySunday reviews afternoon. While attending a house party, the parents of an 8-month-old baby boy laid the child down for a nap in the bathtub. He was left there to snooze, in the tub, for about 30 minutes. When his parents returned to check up on him, they found him submerged in water. He was admitted to the hospital in extremely critical condition and passed away the next day. (I have had to improvise sleeping arrangements on more than a couple of occasions and not once did I ever even consider the bathtub an appropriate place to lay a child – asleep or awake). Right now the question is who the hell turned the water on? Phoenix Fire Captain Alex Rangel said, “We’re not exactly sure, how water could be turned on, but we’ve seen it before, kids, eight to 10 months can crawl, reach up to turn on water or it could possibly have been another sibling. Other children we could see there, were three to six years old.” This very well could have been an accidental death, heartbreaking, but totally preventable. Common sense people – use it. MADEIRA BEACH, Florida – This is a story I am only posting because of one line in the article by Brant James that simply stated, “Then he started throwing sea creatures”. For some reason, this line cracked me up and has made my day. 41-year-old Keith Edward Marriott is facing charges of disorderly intoxication and carrying a concealed weapon because of his bizarre behavior at the beach. Pinellas County sheriff’s deputies said Marriott repeatedly pretended to be drowning and then float to the surface, “causing concern for his safety,” and was “loud and disruptive,” according to a sheriff’s report. Then he started throwing sea creatures. Or more specifically, he started throwing jellyfish at some teenagers. Marriott was being held at Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $250 bail. Jacksonville, FL - Tiffany Sykes-Cecconi started out life as a foster child but was adopted into a family where she was loved and she considered her siblings her very best friends.  She was beautiful, a young mother and unlike some of the other women featured here, seemed to have her priorities straight.  On her MySpaceMySpace page, she states “My daughter is my life…school and my daughter are currently my focus.”  Unfortunately, Andrew Gomez put an end to that focus and the lives of both Tiffany and her 18 month old daughter, Kaylani, in one of the most puzzling murders in recent memory.

Las Vegas, Nevada–Raven Gibbons used to have a 5-year-old daughter named D’Amber Myles. D’Amber suffered from cerebral palsy, had the mental capacity of a 2-year-old child, and was only able to use her right arm. Surely, D’Amber required almost constant supervision and care. You certainly wouldn’t want to leave a special needs child alone in the bathtub, not even for a couple of minutes, right? Didn’t seem to bother Raven any to just leave the kid sitting in the tub…she had more important things to do! Like watch TV and stuff. OKLAHOMA CITY - More boyfriend shenanigans in the case of a 2-year-old Allie Croom. On Thursday, she was with her mother, Amber Croom, her mother’s boyfriend Donnie Reeser, 29, and other family members. They were all enjoying some time at Lake Stanley Draper when witnesses stated they watched as the Dreeser began repeatedly and deliberately dunking Allie under the water. Investigators have not said if anyone tried to intervene, but if didn’t matter if they did or didn’t, as either way – Allie walked out of the water on her own but began acting strange and coughing up water. Portland, Oregon–The 911 calls started pouring in on SaturdaySaturday reviews at 1:00 a.m. Residents on both sides of the Willamette river heard screams and a splash coming from the area of the Sellwood Bridge. Terrifying, hair-raising screams. Police quickly fanned out on both sides of the river, trying to track down the source. Pomona, CA – Edgar Manuel Sanchez was five years old.  He’d done nothing wrong.  But that didn’t stop his mother, Josie Navarro, from drowning him in a hotel bathtub on Monday.   Police were called to the Pomona hotel by a desk clerk, who said that they had been notified that a woman in one of the rooms was trying to kill herself. No big deal except for the fact she left her two children, ages 1 and 3, in a bathtub half full of water in the process.

Leatrice Brewer, Jewell Ward and Michael Demesyeux

NEW CASSEL, N.Y. - The System systematically murdered Leatrice Brewer’s kids the other day. Officers were met at the two-story home by a Brewer who directed them to a top-floor apartment, where they found the children, Jewell Ward, 6, Michael Demesyeux, 5, and Innocent Demesyeux, 1 in a blood-spattered bedroom. The medical examiner has not made an official statement in regards to how they died, but investigators said one appeared to have been drowned by The System, while the others had been slashed to death by The System.

11/18/08 UPDATE – Today, Kristina Fuelling pleaded guilty to child cruelty and the attempted murder of her newborn daughter Faith.  However, a Placer County judge found that Fuelling was not guilty of Faith’s drowning murder by reason of mental disease or defect -  specifically, post partum depression.  The charges to which Fuelling pleaded guilty stem from an incident three days prior to Faith’s death when Kristina Fuelling tried to smother her baby. Fuelling faces between six and fifteen years in prison for the attempted murder and child cruelty charges.  She will be sentenced in January.

Granite Bay, CA – Sometime before six o’clock SundaySunday reviews morning, Kristina Fuelling, 27, drowned her baby in a bathroom sink. Faith Evelyn Fuelling, born January 12, 2008, was eight days old. Baby Faith was pronounced dead at around 7:20 AM Sunday at Sutter Roseville Medical Center after lifesaving measures were exhausted. Feulling’s husband, whose name is not being released, made the call to 911 at 6:00 AM. His name is not being released as he is not a suspect in his daughter’s death.
