Boy Survives Moore Tornado Only To Be Mauled To Death By Friend’s Bullmastiff

JESSIEVILLE, AR — A five-year-old boy from Oklahoma was killed in Arkansas Sunday after he was attacked by a family friend’s Bullmastiff.
The boy and his 2-year-old sister were staying with 50-year-old Lynn Geiling and her husband while their family rebuilt their home destroyed by the deadly tornado that swept through Moore, Oklahoma last month.
The siblings had been staying with the couple for about two weeks when the couple’s Bullmastiff attacked the boy as he was putting on his shoes and, according to Geiling, throwing a tantrum.
“The child was putting on some shoes and was crying and upset,” said Garland County Deputy Scott Hinojosa. “The dog possibly took that as being aggressive and at that time the child was attacked.”
Geiling told police she tried to pull the dog off the boy, but by time she did the boy had already suffered “major lacerations” to his head and neck. He was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs.
The dog ran away after attacking the boy, and animal control were still searching for it late Sunday night to have it euthanized.…

Detroit, MI – A group of boys were headed to school saw a naked man having sex with a dog and did what any normal kid today would do when seeing a man having sex with a dog – they whipped out their cell phones and filmed it.
After arriving at Denby High School, the boys rolled that beautiful bean footage for school security, who then called police. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the mid-30-year-old man sitting between two vacant houses. He was naked, bleeding from the head, and still had his pit bull mix with him.
The man rushed a female officer before he was quickly apprehended and taken to St. John Hospital for an evaluation. The female officer the man rushed also had to be taken to the hospital for exhaustion after she collapsed at the scene.
Police think the man injured his head trying to get into a stolen car that was also found at the scene. The man’s brother would not speak to reporters, but told police that his sibling was a drug user and had mental health issues. No charges have been filed against him at this time.…

WASH., D.C. - Ellsworth Colbert was sentenced to 17 years in prison for stabbing 37-year-old Robert Wright to death after he mistakenly thought the victim’s dog took a dump on his lawn.
Last year, Wright took his friend’s dog out for a walk. Witnesses say he got into an argument with his next-door neighbor, 56-year-old Colbert, who was holding a knife and claiming the dog had crapped in his yard.
Colbert asked Wright whose dog it was, Colbert went to the dog owner’s house with Wright following him. Once at the home, Wright and Colbert got into another verbal altercation that led to Colbert swinging the knife at Wright, cutting his hand.
Wright then picked up a shovel and said, according to a witness, “You going to stab me?” The two then got into a physical fight in which Colbert stabbed Wright four times. After the two stopped and separated, Wright collapsed and was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
A medical examination would show Wright suffered lacerations to left side of his neck and a stab wound to the chest which perforated his aorta.…

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL - A 4-year-old Rottweiler is dead after Brian Perry punched it to death only four days after he adopted the dog from Gulfstream Guardian Angels Rottweiler Rescue.
Grace Acosta, who runs the rescue, said Perry had passed all the necessary background checks needed to adopt Gipper, an 85-pound Rottweiler. You can check out some pictures of the dog in their “Happy Endings” section where it states: “His adoption came very quickly and his new family, Cristy and Brian are now in love with him.”
“These people that adopted this dog from us went through the whole thing. We had excellent vet reports, we had someone visit their home, checking the home. It was approved. And they came with their own dog to meet with us,’ Acosta said.
But after four days in his new home, Perry punched the Gipper to death after the dog ran to a neighbor’s home and began barking at other dogs through a screen enclosure. In response to this, 47-year-old Brian Perry allegedly killed Gipper by repeatedly punching it in the face.…

BEL AIR, MD - Stephanie Mikles, a 45-year-old behavioral specialist for Harford County Schools, has been accused of having sex with the family dog.
Police found out about the alleged sexual liaison during an investigation by the child advocacy center of Harford County that began last year. No word on what that investigation was about, but during a search of her home, investigators found pictures and video of Mikles having sex with the family dog.
The encounters took place from August 1 to August 31, 2008. Unfortunately for her, there is no statute of limitations for bestiality in Maryland. So after dousing their eyeballs with bleach, officers arrested the dog Mikles and charged her with bestiality. She was later released from jail on a five thousand dollar bond.
Recently, a grand jury puked in their shoes after being required to look at footage of Mikles getting knotted by the pooch. They ended up indicting her with “unnatural or perverted sexual practice.” Mikles’ attorney told reporters that she is fighting the charge and has filed motions to dismiss the case.…

Plainfield, NJ – A 55-year-old New Jersey woman is recovering in the hospital after being viciously attacked by two American bulldogs on Saturday.
The woman was walking down the street when the two 5-year-old dogs, named Max and Marley, escaped from an unlocked fence and began attacking her.
Most of the attack was captured on video and shows the woman on the ground trying to defend herself while the two dogs alternate biting her.
You can also see as the owner of the dogs, along with passerbys, try everything from hitting the dogs with sticks, honking horns, and physically drag the dogs away from the woman – to no avail
When police showed up to the scene, the dogs were still attacking the woman so the officers fired five shots, killing both dogs. Plainfield Police Captain Ed Santiago said he had no issues with the officers’ decision to act.
“The next bite of a dog like that could have been a jugular. It could have killed her,” he said. “They weren’t even paying attention to their owner.”
Neighbors said it wasn’t the first time the dogs had gotten loose.…

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Edward Burcham killed an elderly man riding on a lawnmower after swerving to avoid a dog in the road.
North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers said that on Tuesday, 50-year-old Burcham was driving when he swerved to miss a dog he says ran out in front of his truck. He ended up going off the road and striking 73-year-old Bobby Lambert, who was riding on a lawnmower in his yard.
Lambert was pronounced dead at the scene, and charges were pending against Burcham. He was reportedly doing 35 mph in a 45 mph zone, but troopers said he was “well off the road” when he hit Lambert.
I don’t know if Burcham’s dog story has been verified, but I cannot stress this enough; if an animal runs out in front of you vehicle, simply perform controlled braking, sound your horn, and hope the stupid thing gets out of the way. Unless it’s a dinosaur or some other large animal that could result in your death if you strike it, do not ever swerve to avoid it.…

Fulton County, GA – I had hoped there wouldn’t be any pit bull stories circulating this week, as I am tired of talking about them on our podcast, but a 2-year-old in Georgia was mauled to death by his family’s pit bull.
The attack happened shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday inside the boy’s home, when his mother went inside the bathroom. That’s when the family’s pit bull, owned by the mother for about eight years, decided to kill the toddler for reasons unknown.
“She advised it happened fast,” Parker said. “It was an obvious death once the mother came out of the restroom.”
A neighbor reported he heard the child’s mother after she ran outside of the home and rolled around on the ground screaming, “‘The dog killed the baby! The dog killed the baby!”
The dog remained inside the home for a couple of hours after the attack, possibly inside a bathroom. Animal control employees eventually removed the dog from the home and transported it to a shelter where it will be observed for several days.…

Des Moines, IA - Sheena Cornwell is facing animal torture charges after she callously killed her dog by using the dog’s leash to hang it in the garage.
Joshua VanDyke said Cornwell was upset with Lillie, a 15-year-old pit bull, barking inside the garage. He said that he watched Cornwell enter the garage with the dog’s collar. He said she returned 10 minutes later, stating: ‘She’s dead, I killed her.’
After rushing into the garage and finding Lillie hanging hanging from the rafters, he called 911. When police arrived, they found Lillie dead, hanging from her leash.
“This is the first time I’ve seen a dog strung up like that. The dog deserved better than that.” Des Moines Police Officer Greg Catron said.
Cornwell told police that Lillie had medical issues and would die soon anyway. “She did not appear to be remorseful. She said she saw nothing wrong with her actions,” Catron said. “She didn’t think there was anything wrong with the way she put this dog to death.”
Sheena Cornwell was arrested and charged with one count of animal torture.…

WALDORF, MD – A 5-year-old girl is recovering from some horrendous injuries she received after being attacked by two dogs in her backyard.
Police said the 5-year-old was at the home with her mother’s boyfriend when she wandered into the backyard where three dogs, an English bulldog and two Presa Canarios, were being kept in a kennel. The dog’s were not owned by the family, according to reports.
“We’re hearing that the dogs may have just been dropped off at the house to be watched after by the homeowners, so we’re still trying to verify that,” said Diane Richardson of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
It’s not clear how or why two of the dogs were not in their kennel, but the English Bulldog and one of the Pres Canarios viciously attacked the girl for reasons unknown.
“It’s not clear if she let the dogs out of the kennel,” says Diane Richardson, spokesperson for the Charles County Sheriff’s Department. “It’s not clear if they were even in the kennel… at this point there are no obvious signs of neglect or anything like that.”
When the boyfriend found Savanna, she was in the fetal position, unconscious, with the two dogs near her body.…

Bryan County, GA – A 2-year-old-girl was killed in her backyard after seven seven dogs, all pit bulls or pit bull mixes, mauled her to death while her grandmother slept inside the house.
According to Bryan County Deputy Sheriff James Beatty, the girl’s grandmother woke up after hearing a commotion outside and discovered the dogs attacking 21-month-old Monica Renee Laminack in the backyard. She, along with other family members, rushed outside to pull the dogs off the girl, but she was already dead.
“When we got here and spoke to EMS, they told us that when they got here, she was already cold. There was nothing they could do,” Beatty said.
Police are not sure why the girl was alone with the dogs or what made them suddenly attack her. Beatty said the girl’s 12-year-old brother may have taken her out to play and forgot she was out there, or she may have gone out through a doggy door.
“Apparently what happened is the child and the dogs were all in the house together and exited the house through the doggie door,” Bryan County Sheriff Clyde Smith said during a press conference Thursday morning in Pembroke.…

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A woman received a horrific gift on Saturday when the family’s dog found a dead baby girl wrapped in plastic and brought the corpse home.
The woman was house-siting on Saturday, when the homeowner’s 6-year-old dog, Luke, carried the baby like a newborn puppy and laid the corpse down by her feet.
“It was three to five pounds and was still very fresh,” she said. She added that Luke, a mix-breed dog, would never hurt anyone and that there was no trauma to the newborn’s body.
Investigators said there are very few clues that could help them solve the case, and they have no suspects. “We don’t know where the baby came from, if it was born in the area outside or if someone brought the baby out there to dispose of it,” OKC Police Capt. Dexter Nelson said.
The house is located in the 15000 block of South Air Depot and Luke is known to roam a large section of the surrounding area, making it tough to find out exactly where the dog found the newborn.…

Walworth, WI - On Wednesday, 14-month-old Dax Borchardt was mauled to death by his babysitter’s two pit bulls.
Police received a call from Borchardt’s babysitter, 30-year-old Susan Iwicki, stating she and the boy were being attacked by her two pit bulls.
Borchardt was taken to Mercy-Walworth Medical Center before being airlifted to the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin where he died from critical injuries at about 3:30pm.
Iwicki was also injured in the attack, but as of Thursday morning, her condition is unknown. The two dogs were later euthanized by a local veterinarian.
No word on if charges will be filed, but Walworth County Sheriff’s Office Captain Dana Nigbor said that ”unless something drastically changes,” this will not be a criminal case.
Borchardt’s father expressed his anger on his Facebook page, stating “these pitbulls was not abused, mistreated, or harmed in ANY way” and that he “will do everything in my power to make sure this breed is bred out of existence.”
I feel bad for the guy. Not only losing a son, but losing him in such a violent way.…

HODGES, S.C. —A 65-year-old woman in South Carolina was killed by a pit bull while babysitting her grandchildren.
Betty Todd was babysitting her three grandchildren – ages 1 to 12 - while her son and his wife went to dinner Tuesday night.
For reasons unknown, the family pit bull began viciously attacking Todd. The oldest grandchild tried to get the dog off her grandmother but was unable to. The girl gathered her siblings into a room that did not contain their screaming grandmother being killed by their dog and called her father for help.
When police arrived at the home, they were greeted at the door by an aggressive pit bull with blood on its mouth, chest and paws. At the same time, Todd’s son and his wife pulled up and were able to corral the dog into another room of the house.
Todd was found unresponsive with puncture wounds to her head, face and neck. EMS attempted to resuscitate her, but were unsuccessful. The coroner stated Betty Todd died of neck and spinal injuries.…

Big Lagoon, CA – A couple have drowned and their 16-year-old son is missing after all three went into the ocean to try and save the family dog.
The family were at Big Lagoon beach Saturday afternoon when their dog got stuck in the ocean after chasing a thrown stick. The teen out went into the eight to ten foot waves in order to rescue the dog, followed by the teen’s father.
The teen was able to make it back to the beach on his own, but once out of the water he realized his father was still stuck out in the ocean. This prompted him and his mother to go back out into the water to help him, leading to all three to getting swept out.
While this was happening, the couple’s daughter called 911. A park ranger made it to the beach after running 1/2 a mile to get there because his vehicle was unable to navigate the terrain. He was not able to go out and help the family because of the high surf.…

SANFORD, FL – A couple months ago we reported on a man in Georgia who was accused of beating a woman with her dog. Now it is being reported that a man in Florida has been accused of doing the same thing.
Michael Jones, 42, was arrested last week on domestic battery and animal cruelty charges after police say he beat his live-in girlfriend with her own dog.
According to reports, Jones became angry when his live-in girlfriend and her daughter arrived home and one of them had tried to smoked crack cocaine. Jones informed her that he was going to kill her puppy before walking outside, pulling the dog out of his girlfriend’s her car, and punching out the windshield.
According to the victim, she tried to get the dog away from Jones when he began swinging it in the air. She said Jones pushed her to the ground and began beating her with her dog, striking her with the animal several times. After beating her with her dog, she says Jones choked her before riding away on a bicycle while carrying the dog.…

HOLLYWOOD, FL – Unlike most dog attack stories I post about, I am posting this one to help get the word out on how you can help out an 11-year-old girl after she had a portion of her face bitten off by a friend’s dog.
Back in June, 11-year-old Jacklyn Tucker was spending the night with a friend when her face was mauled by a dog. She was sleeping on the couch when she rolled off to the floor. When she opened her eyes, she was greeted by Tanker, her friend’s Jack Russell Terrier-English Bulldog mix, and Tanker wasn’t happy.
“I just laid there, and I closed my eyes, hoping the dog would just go away,” Tucker said.
But Tanker didn’t. Instead, Tanker decided to chew off the girl’s face, tearing off three-quarters of her upper lip and part of her nose. EMS arrived and rushed Jacklyn to the hospital after the dog’s owner handed them Jacklyn’s lips that he had picked up off the floor.
After an initial operation to repair the damage that resulted in some complications, Jacklyn underwent an advanced form of plastic surgery, called a lip switch, in which surgeons took a wedge from her lower lip, flipped it upside down and inserted it into her upper lip.…

Clearwater, FL — Officials with a Florida Humane Society are presumably reviewing policies on workplace fraternization after an ex-employee – and boyfriend of current HS medical director – was charged with having sex with a dog.
Eric Antunes, 29, was arrested after police reportedly found child pornography and evidence of his own act of bestiality in his possession.
Clearwater police began investigating Antunes after getting a tip that he possessed child pornography. A search of the computer yielded nine explicit photos and one explicit video depicting children, detectives said. According to police, he has admitted to downloading and viewing the child pornography on his home computer. A check of Antunes’ cell phone then revealed “several images of bestiality” involving Antunes and his girlfriend’s dog, police said. Ruh-roh.
The situation is a bit unique because, as it turns out, Antunes was a past employee of the Pinellas Humane Society and the girlfriend is the current medical director. Clearwater Public Communications Director Joelle Castelli said police do not have evidence that the girlfriend was aware of the fact Antunes was taking photos of himself engaged in sex acts with her pit-bull mix.…

Henderson, NV – A 1-year-old boy died on Saturday after being attacked by the family dog while celebrating his first birthday with family.
The unidentified boy was at his grandmother’s house with family when he crawled over to the family’s six-year old, 120-pound Mastiff/Rhodesian mix to pet it. According to the family, they have raised the dog since he was a puppy and he had never shown aggression towards anyone before.
But on this occasion the dog attacked the boy, latching his mouth around the little boy’s head and then shaking him like a chew toy. The boy’s grandmother immediately tried to pull the boy out of the dog’s mouth to no avail.
The boy’s father was upstairs when the attack occurred but was able to get the dog to let go within 20 seconds of the attack. But the damage to the boy was devastating. “The baby’s face was torn off,” he said. The boy was rushed to the hospital but would die a few hours later.
Animal control officers took the dog to an animal shelter where he will be quarantined for ten days.…

Medway, UK - A UK woman was convicted of six counts of animal cruelty after her akita, Ruby, was found lying in the woman’s garden covered in maggots and feces in a severely weakened state.
Julie Walker, 48, was found guilty was convicted in her absence of causing unnecessary suffering to the 12-year-old akita. RSPCA Inspector Caroline Doe said Ruby was in a worse condition than, “any of the other thousands of cases she had dealt with.” Ruby needed to be euthanized due to her condition.
After finding her guilty of all charges, magistrates issued a warrant for Walker’s arrest. Walker reportedly presented herself at the Medway police station on Wednesday and was taken into custody.
Clearly a master of legal maneuvering, Walker – during the sentencing hearing – claimed that she knew nothing about her trial and asked for the case to be reopened. In rebuttal, the court clerk presented a fax that Walker had sent to the court acknowledging the case and asking that it be dismissed. D’oh.…
