Teens Accused Of Murdering Two Men, Playing Video Games Afterwards

JOLIET, IL – Police say that three of the four young adults charged with the strangulation and attempted dismemberment of two men were found playing video games in the home where the victims’ bodies were found.
“This is one of the most brutal, heinous and upsetting things I’ve ever seen in my 27 years of law enforcement,” Police Chief Mike Trafton said. “Not only the crime scene, but the disregard for common decency toward human beings.”
On Thursday, Eric Glover and Terrance Rankins, both 22, were found strangled in a home after police received a call informing them that they may find two dead guys inside. The caller wasn’t lying, as police found Glover and Rankins dead when they entered the home, as well as evidence that someone tried dismembering their bodies.
Police also found 19-year-old Adam Landerman, 18-year-old Alisa Massaro and 24-year-old Joshua Miner inside the home. The trio were very much alive and were playing video games. According to Trafton, they were “very much surprised” when police walked in on them.…

ST. PAUL, MN – You know that old saying about a good friend helping you move and a true friend helping you move the bodies? Well a man in Minnesota learned the difference when he stored his wife’s dismembered corpse in his friend’s garage.
On Monday, Nathan Schram received a phone call from 34-year-old Steven Johnson. Johnson was calling to inform Schram that his wife, 32-year-old Manya Johnson, had slipped in the shower and died. Johnson added that he’d then dismembered his wife’s body and had stored the parts in the garage of Schram’s White Bear Lake home. Johnson then asked Schram to rent a portable storage unit so he could move Manya’s body.
If you are wondering why Johnson would be so comfortable admitting to Schram that he’d cut up his wife and assumed it would be ok to store the body parts in Schram’s garage without Schram’s knowledge, it turns out Johnson met Schram while both served time in prison.
Johnson had served 17 years after pleading guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct in 1996. He and an accomplice handcuffed a girl in a car, then raped her. Schram was in the same prison, at around the same time, for helping his mother cover up a murder she had committed.…

There aren’t a lot of details surrounding the actual murder, but on Sunday, police responded to a call regarding a burning vehicle at a public housing complex.
Once there, officers found 49-year-old Paul R. Potter standing near a burning vehicle and two burning apartments. In their report, the officers say they watched as Potter hurled two objects at nearby witnesses.
Those two objects turned out to be a pair of human arms.
Police and firefighters would find the arms’ owner in one of the burning apartments. Both of the apartments were strewn with blood, but one contained the armless corpse of Potter’s neighbor, who had also been stabbed multiple times. Witnesses say Potter had been involved in some kind of altercation earlier in the day.…

Oceanside, CA – A 68-year-old cross-dresser is behind bars after police accused him of killing and dismembering his 74-year-old wife inside the couple’s home.
Neighbors say that a foul odor emanating from the home of Frederick Hengl and his wife, Anna Maria Hengl, became so bad that they called police to report it. Police would not find Frederick at home, but they would find Anna’s dismembered body. Frederick was found by police on Friday outside a bar in downtown Oceanside. He was questioned by police and then booked into jail on a first-degree murder charge.
The couple are a strange fixture in their neighborhood, with many who live there reporting odd behavior from the couple. Frederick could regularly be seen walking around the neighborhood dressed in women’s clothing.
“The husband is actually known for dressing up like a woman and walking around the neighborhood. It’s just a permanent fixture, I guess. It doesn’t freak us out anymore,” said resident Jason Chandler. Another neighbor said he had saw the man around the neighborhood wearing a floor-length purple dress and a long pearl necklace with pearl earrings, and carrying a fancy purse.…

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – I got an update on 39-year-old Mike Plumadore, the man charged with murdering and dismembering 9-year-old Aliahna Lemmon last year.
On Monday, a judge sentenced Plumadore to life behind bars. Plumadore plead guilty to the murder last month and saved himself from the Pancuronium bromide and Potassium chloride cocktail he so richly deserves.
A few days before last Christmas, Plumadore was babysitting Aliahna and her 6-year-old sisters because their mother was sick. They all lived in the same trailer park and Plumadore was a trusted family friend who had cared for Aliahna’s dying grandfather who passed away a few weeks earlier.
Plumadore said that the next morning he woke up and found Aliahna missing. This would turn out to be partly true as cops would find the girl’s hands, feet and head inside Plumadores’ freezer. The rest of her was found in garbage bags at a nearby gas station. An autopsy report would reveal the girl had died from blunt force trauma and suffocation.
Plumadore was charged with Aliahna’s murder and prosecutors were going for the death penalty.…

BAY ST. LOUIS, MS – Last Thursday, a construction crew working on a beach in Bay St. Louis found the torso of a then unidentified white female.
According to police, the body had a stab wound to the chest and was missing the head, legs and arms. Two days later, a calf was discovered on the beach. Shortly after, a thigh. Not 20 minutes later, a head. Then, lastly, fishermen found another calf and some women’s apparel.
Pathologists have now determined the body belongs to 22-year-old Jaren Lockhart of New Orleans. The mother of a 3-year-old girl was reported missing on Wednesday. Her boyfriend last saw her Tuesday night after she took a cab from a motel to Bourbon Street where she worked as a stripper. She was last seen on surveillance video leaving work early Wednesday morning.
A DNA match has not been made yet, but police are certain the remains belong to Lockhart after matching her tattoos to the remains. They also stated the clothes she is seen wearing in the video matches the items discovered at the beach.…

TACOMA, WA — A 27-year-old man has been accused of strangling his friend in his bedroom, then using a hand saw to partially dismember the corpse.
Police say that on March 18 or 19, John Jones Jr. strangled 54-year-old Wayne Williams in the bedroom of a home he shares with his mother, younger brother and an uncle. He then used a hand saw to start dismembering the corpse for future disposal.
Problem was that he was taking too long to dispose of the body, and Williams was quickly starting to smell pretty ripe.
On March 21, Jones’ mother noticed a foul smell coming from her son’s room and went in to investigate. It wasn’t hard to determine the source of the odor as Williams’ corpse was lying on a mattress without a head or legs. Jones had already removed them — the legs still wearing socks and shoes — and placed them in garbage bags.
When police interviewed John Jones, he stated he regularly hung out with Williams and they occasionally did drugs together, but he did not know how he ended up dead and in several pieces inside his bedroom.…

Sumter, SC – A South Carolina man has been accused of cutting off a person’s hand so he and two others could collect an insurance payout.
Back in May of 2008, the recession had kicked into high gear. People were losing their jobs, watching their investments dwindle and losing their homes. Perhaps the resulting desperation motivated the plan hatched by 34-year-old Gerald Hardin and two unnamed cohorts.
Federal investigators allege that Hardin used a pole saw, a small chain saw attached to a pole normally reserved for removing tree limbs, to saw off the hand of an accomplice. After a trip to the local emergency room, doctors unsuccessfully tried to reattach the extremity.
Conveniently, a member of the trio had the foresight to take out three death and dismemberment policies on their now-one-handed co-conspirator. After cashing in on these policies, along with a homeowners insurance policy settlement, the group netted over $671,000 which they divided between them.
It is unclear what spurred the investigation by the FBI, but sufficient evidence was gathered to result in them charging Hardin with six crimes, including mail fraud.…

JOHNSTON, R.I. – A man has been arrested and charged with murdering his wife, dismembering her body and then trying to get rid of the evidence in a fireplace.
I’m not going into details, but I have often wondered if it would be possible to get rid of a body using my fireplace. I still think it is possible, but after reading what happened to 52-year-old Donald K. Greenslit, I may need invest in a working fire extinguisher before ever attempting it.
Firefighters were called to Greenslit’s home because of a fire originating from the basement. They were able to safely contain the fire although two children, ages 3 and 5, were taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Investigators would also find the source of the fire were body parts that had been placed in the fireplace.
“It appeared that the remains could be that of a human body. It was actually wrapped in cloth and it was burned severely and was actually cut up into pieces,” said officials.…

Brooklyn, NY - Back in July, Morbid reported on the case of the killing of 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky whose dismembered body were found, among other places, in 35-year-old Levi Aron’s freezer. The case has recently made news based on Aron’s lawyer’s claim that… well… everything is a mitigating factor.
The background of the story is this… Leiby Kletzky attended day camp. He normally took a bus home but wanted desperately to walk home instead. After listening to his begging, his parents agreed to allow him to walk part of the way home – a distance of 7-blocks. He would meet his mother for a doctor’s appointment. His parents were reported to have worked with him to memorize the route. They then also practiced the route together on a ‘dry run.’
On the day that Leiby was to walk home, he left the day camp wearing a striped shirt with his bag over his shoulder and a smaller bag on his waist. He initially followed the route as planned but, then, missed a turn on to a side street.…

Raleigh, NC – Police have arrested a man and his wife after a woman who went missing in North Carolina was found dismembered in a Texas creek.
Laura Ackerson was last scene on July 13 dropping her two young boy off at their father’s Raleigh apartment. She was to pick them up two days later but her ex, 32-year-old Grant Hayes, says she never showed up at the planned meeting spot. The following day a co-worker of Ackerson’s reported her missing when she did not show up for work.
Police would find her vehicle a a few days later, parked near where Hayes currently resides, at an apartment complex she, Hayes and their kids used to live a year earlier. She and Hayes have been involved in a year long custody battle regarding their two boys.
In June, a judge granted Hayes temporary custody of the two boys because Ackerson was unemployed at that time and living with Hayes’ parents. She would get the boys on the weekend while Hayes, a local musician who goes by the stage name Grant Haze, would get them during the week.…

Palatka, FL — Roy McSweeney, a 74-year-old Florida man, was left in critical condition after his neighbor’s two dogs jumped the fence separating his property from hers and brutally attacked him in his own front yard.
“He was in his yard doing yard work when the dogs jumped over the fence and attacked him,” Putnam County Sheriff’s Capt. Johnny Greenwood said, adding that the fence was thin wire.
McSweeney had his right arm completely torn off by the dogs and his left arm shredded. The dogs also reportedly mauled his face. It was reported that McSweeney was rushed to a nearby hospital where he underwent hours of surgery trying to save his left arm. He is currently on life support and friends and family are questioning if he can survive.
The animals, owned by neighbor Deanna Blitch, have been euthanized and their dead carcasses are being tested for rabies. Police described the dogs as being – brace yourselves – pit bulls or pit bull mixes.
No charges have been filed against the dogs’ owner.…

Moscow, RU – Proving once again that arresting a cannibal at meal time is a good prosecutorial strategy, police in Moscow apprehended a man suspected of scattering dismembered body parts across the city in recent weeks.
According to published reports, the police visited the suspected cannibal’s apartment early Tuesday morning.
“When the police came to arrest the suspect, he was eating a human liver with potatoes,” a police spokeswoman for the Moscow’s western district said. The unnamed suspect “admitted he had eaten part of his acquaintance’s liver”, said the prosecutor general’s investigative unit.
Police also reportedly found a stew in the suspect’s refrigerator that had been made from human liver. Police have reported that they believe the liver – along with other parts found throughout the city – belonged to the suspect’s friend.
The decapitated head of a middle-aged man was found in the Moskva River in the west of the city on Wednesday. Houston, TX — Police have made an arrest in the gruesome murder of a man whose headless body was found in the backyard of a vacant northeast Houston home over the weekend.
Noe Morin, 35, was charged Monday in connection with the death of 35-year-old Marlon Thomas - his roommate and best friend of 20 years.
Thomas’ headless, dismembered body was discovered at about 7:00 Sunday evening behind a vacant home adjacent to the duplex he and Morin shared. In the crawlspace beneath the duplex itself, sitting next to a chainsaw, police found a garbage bag containing the missing head and one arm.
Though a neighbor reported hearing two gunshots at about 10:00 Saturday evening, investigators have reported that, except for the whole dismemberment/decapitation thing, there were no other obvious injuries to the victim. The exact cause of death won’t be revealed until after an autopsy is conducted, but my money’s on Husqvarna or Black and Decker…

Maywood, CA — Authorities said Moises Meraz- Espinoza walked into the Huntington Park Police Station with an unidentified family member Friday afternoon, asked for an officer, and confessed to killing his mother.
While investigating the gruesome claim, authorities discovered the body of a dismembered female in the freezer of the home Espinoza shares with his mother. She had apparently been hacked into several pieces with a saw before being frozen. Though police haven’t confirmed the woman’s identity, relatives say Espinoza’s mother hasn’t been seen since last Monday.
Family members told KTLA that Espinoza had been acting strange lately and may have been suffering from depression after his girlfriend was killed in a car crash four months ago.
One family member reported that she got a phone call from Espinoza in which he admitted to cutting up his mother with a saw. “I knew either he was gonna harm himself or someone but not just her, not her,” she said.
Espinoza was booked on suspicion of murder and is being held without bail.…

Las Vegas, NV - The body of 31-year-old Debbie Flores-Narvaez, who went missing last month, has been found and her former boyfriend, Jason ‘Bleu’ Griffith, has been arrested in connection with her murder. After receiving a tip, police found Flores-Narvaez’s dismembered body placed in two cement-filled tubs inside a downtown Vegas home. Investigators found out 32-year-old Griffith, the last person to see her alive, had purchased cement and rented a U-Haul moving truck shortly after her disappearance. This particular U-Haul was equipped with a GPS, so investigators were able to track Griffith’s movements and to the house where Flores-Narvaez’s remains were found. Police moved in quickly after the gruesome discovery and arrested Griffith. He is currently being held without bail. I don’t think the arrest was a shock to anyone, Griffith being a person of interest from the beginning. Besides being the last to see her, he has a history of domestic violence and in early December, Flores-Narvaez sent an ominous text message to her mother that read ‘In case there is ever an emergency with me, contact Blu Griffith in Vegas.…

Newton, NC — As the months pass, more information is coming out about the Zahra Baker case. For those of you who aren’t familiar, this is the case of the 10 year old girl who was reported missing on October 9th after a fire broke out at her father’s home. Zahra had a pretty tough life, losing a leg to leukemia, needing hearing aids in both ears and being abused by her stepmother. There have also been accusations of Elisa’s relatives raping the child before her death. Today more interesting details were released. The stepmother told police the girl actually died on September 24th, 2 weeks before being reported missing. Elisa’s information led police to Zahra’s remains which were scattered around North Carolina. And now it seems as if Elisa’s ex-husband, Aaron Young, may have something to do with the case. Oddly enough, Elisa told her new husband that Aaron was her brother, and according to the warrant, pictures of Aaron with Zahra are on Elisa and Aaron’s facebook pages.…

Davie, FL — Jamie Saffran, 51, has been booked on murder charges after pieces and parts of an acquaintance of his started turning up around Florida last month. On November 6, patrons at a Fort Lauderdale restaurant found a bucket containing a mixture of human legs, arms and concrete. Days later, on the 14th, employees at a body shop in Dania Beach found the victim’s head inside a bucket. The remaining parts turned up behind a middle school in Northwest Miami-Dade on the 26th. The official cause of death – blunt force trauma. DNA testing determined that all of the pieces belonged to the same person and fingerprints led police to the victim’s identity, which is being withheld pending notification of relatives. Authorities have determined that Saffran and the victim were well acquainted, but have not released a motive for the killing. During a search of Saffran’s home, authorities discovered a concrete covered shovel, a sledgehammer with traces of human blood on it, a couple bags of cement and several sharp tools.…

LOS ANGELES, CA – A housekeeper found a backpack stuffed with body parts while working at a hotel near Skid Row and a married couple have been charged with murder. The housekeeper was working at the Continental Hotel on Nov 29 when she found a backpack containing the limbs of 49-year-old Herbert Tracy White. Police would find White’s torso wrapped in a blanket under the bed, along with a knife. Police suspect 36-year-old Edward Garcia Jr. and his wife, 25-year-old Melissa Hope Garcia killed White during a robbery gone wrong. White is a recovering alcoholic known for helping out those less fortunate than him and described as a Good Samaritan. White’s mother said he mentioned meeting a couple at an ATM on Thanksgiving and giving them a couple cigarettes and a few dollars. On the night before his body was discovered, White’s wife said he received a phone call around 2 a.m. and told her he had to go and give someone a ride, something he was known to do for friends.
