• WICHITA, KS – A Wichita man has been arrested for allegedly attacking a man’s miniature dachshund with an ax. Police found the man in the area and arrested him for animal cruelty. No word on why he attacked the dog — which was still alive at the time I typed this out.
• HILLSBOROUGH, NC – Demario Atwater agreed to plead guilty to first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, and armed robbery – effectively removing the death penalty from the table and making sure that tax payers take care of him for the rest of his life. He and another man killed UNC Student Body President Eve Carson. She was taken from her home, driven around to various ATM’s before Atwater used a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun to kill her. Fire that prosecutor.
• NEW CITY, NY – A good Samaritan tried to break up a fight between two dog owners at Kennedy-Dells Park and was bitten by one of the men involved. No charges have been filed.
• FLINT, MI – A woman is accusing a doctor of performing a forced abortion and wants justice. She says Dr. Abraham A. Hodari continued performing the procedure even after she asked him to stop. “He was inserting the speculum, and I told him I’m nervous. I just told him stop please,” she says. “I’m really nervous and I don’t want to do this anymore.” But he didn’t. “When she said stop, it was too late,” Dr. Hodari told NBC25 on the phone while on a trip in Italy. He then added that he did have an assistant hold the woman down.
• SANTA CRUZ, CA – A UC Santa Cruz researcher’s wife noticed brake fluid draining from underneath their SUV as she was about to get in it. Turns out, the brake lines had been cut. Now the FBI is involved and are trying to determine if this was an act of vandalism or sabotage. I was not aware of this, but two years ago, the townhouse of a UC Santa Cruz biologist was firebombed and another bomb exploded minutes earlier, gutting a car owned by another researcher.

Los Angeles, CA - After being convicted of killing 12-year-old Robin Samsoe in 1979, Rodney James Alcala was twice sentenced to death. Both convictions were eventually overturned. The first conviction in 1980 was overturned because the court ruled that his past crimes — a 1972 conviction of raping and beating an 8-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl, plus the molesting of another child — were improperly allowed. Then in 2001, the second conviction was overturned on grounds that Alcala’s lawyers should have been allowed to introduce a psychologist’s testimony casting doubt on a witness’ claim of amnesia and that his attorney did not present alibi witnesses. Now Alcala is back for a third shot at the needle. This time authorities have added four other murders to his repertoire. Alcala’s DNA has been identified in the murders of Jill Barcomb, 18; Georgia Wixted, 27; Charlotte Lamb, 32; and Jill Parenteau, 21. San Antonio, TX – Well folks, this is one of those stories that is going to make your stomach turn.  Not much shocks me anymore, but every once in a while, a story will come along that makes me want to head straight for an underground bunker with some rations and wait out the apocalypse.  Early Sunday morning, Otty Sanchez’s mother went to check on her daughter and new grandson and walked into something horrible.  A scene that probably resembled something straight out of the goriest horror flick.  She found Sanchez cradling the decapitated and badly mutilated body of 3 1/2 week old baby Scott Wesley Buchholtz-Sanchez.  Pretty bad huh?  Hold on, it gets much much worse. Corona, CA – Once again, we have a story of a selfish asshole who wanted to off himself and take his family with him.  And of course, once again he succeeds at murdering his babies and only injuring himself.  They have no motive at this time, but it is said that Amado Esqueda and his wife had separated shortly before he completely lost his shit and went on a stabbing rampage killing his two young daughters, seriously injuring his wife and injuring himself.
