Stafford, Va. - Virginia police say a 17-year-old girl has been charged with murdering her mother after an argument.
Sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy said 62-year-old Brenda Dye’s husband and son found her dead inside her home sometime around 6 p.m. on Tuesday. She had been shot in the upper torso with a shotgun.
Yesterday, her 17-year-old daughter, Ashleigh Dye (Facebook), was charged with first-degree murder and placed in the Rappahannock Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
Lots of comments from friends and family on the news articles I linked to. Feelings of shock and grief, particularly on Brenda’s Facebook page. I read through some of the comments, and aside from this taking everyone by surprise, Brenda seemed like a pretty nice lady.
There are some signs of trouble between the two in a couple of their exchanges at the end of June, but I didn’t go much further than that because for some reason I felt bad snooping around on her page. UNION COUNTY, NC - The trial Erica Denise Kelly started this morning. Some of you may remember her as the mother accused of murdering her newborn and then dumping the infant’s dismembered corpse near a burn pile.
Jaded posted about Kelly two years ago. If you’re unable to lift your fat finger up enough to click the link and read all the details, back in February 2009 a dead infant was found near a burn pile outside of the home Kelly and her boyfriend were moving into.
At the time reports were the baby girl still had its umbilical cord still attached, had been full-term and had been born alive. The reports of the baby having some abnormalities turned out to be that two of the baby’s limbs had been severed.
After taking some DNA samples a match would be made between the dead infant and Kelly. But not her boyfriend. All of this came to a shock to all that knew her because no one was aware she was even pregnant. She was charged with murder and concealing the birth of a child.…

CAPITOLA, Calif. - An 83-year-old woman has died after a 17-year-old skateboarder collided with her in a crossswalk.
Maryann Slettehaugh was out on her daily walk when she crossed the Stockton Avenue bridge in a marked pedestrian crosswalk. As she entered the bicycle lane, she was struck by a teenager on a skateboard traveling anywhere from 15 to 20mph.
Capitola police Sgt. Andrew Dally said the skateboarder, who was traveling down a steep hill, tried to avoid hitting Slettehaugh by jumping off his board.”It was not a malicious type of act,” he told reporters. “He seemed like a pretty clean-cut and honest kid.”
The teen stayed at the scene as he and bystanders tried to render aid to Slettehaugh who had fallen unconscious. One witness said the kid looked ”a little bit dazed and a little overwhelmed by the whole situation.” Slettehaugh was airlifted to Valley Medical Center where she would die later that evening.
Detective Marquis Booth told CNN that municipal code prohibits skateboarding the Capitola Village commercial district where the accident occurred.…

Henryetta, OK - A minister is facing charges after he allegedly expressed his desire to comfort a teenage girl with his rod and staff via a series of lewd text messages.
Joseph Monroe Leal, 36-years-old and pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, has been charged with using technology to engage in sexual communication with a minor. The minor in question was only 14 when she met Leal at the Summit Church Camp back in 2009.
She says that initial conversations between the two were strictly on spiritual subjects, but by the next summer, the messages she was receiving from Leal started to turn sexual in nature. She started saving the messages this past spring after they became increasingly more explicit.
News outlets haven’t released any of the juicy contents of these texts, if they exist, but have mentioned some hilarious snippets that supposedly include Leal complimenting the teen’s body and admitting he felt guilty that his wife was home sick and all he could do was think of her “gorgeous face and smoking hot body.”
I’m not sure what’s the bigger crime here.…

St. Petersburg, Florida – I’ve lost a lot of things while drunk, but I can honestly say I never misplaced my infant. My car, my mind and sometimes my dignity, but never my kid. That’s not the case for one dad in Florida who did just that, and now he’s facing child abuse charges.
Robert Deforest, 25, and his girlfriend, Rosie Bullock, got plastered at a Fourth of July party when they got into an argument over who was sober enough to drive. Bullock took the car keys away from Deforest, who in turn took their 7-week-old son and walked downstairs.
When Bullocks followed a little later at around 9:30 p.m., she could not find Deforest or their child. She was eventually able to contact Deforest via cell phone who informed her he had lost their baby. Bullock called police before riding around looking for her son with her sister.
Shortly after midnight, a man walking downtown heard a baby crying and found Deforest’s baby lying in the rain outside a vacant apartment.…

WAYLAND, Mass. — Nathaniel Fujita, 18, has been charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend, 18-year-old Lauren Astley.
Astley’s father became concerned when his daughter did not check in with him after leaving work Sunday night and began calling her friends. Not long after, her Jeep Grand Cherokee was found at the Wayland Town Beach, but there was no sign of Astley.
On Monday morning, a bicyclist discovered Astley’s body in a marshy area off Water Row Road and called police. When police pulled Astley from the water, she had a bungee cord wrapped around her neck to go along with a “gaping, significant, and horrendous” neck wound.
On Tuesday, Middelex County DA Gerry Leone stated Astley was killed by strangulation from “a ligature and a wound to her neck using a sharp object.”
It didn’t take long for police to zero in on Fujita. He had dated Astley for three years and she had recently broke things off. Astley’s friends told police Fujita been calling her at work Sunday night and she had told them she was stopping by his house after work.…

Mexico City – Here’s one of the stories I was working on yesterday. A woman is now facing multiple charges after she got busted trying to sneak her husband out of prison in a suitcase.
Maria del Mar Arjona, 19, had been allowed a conjugal visit with her husband, Juan Ramirez Tijerina, who was serving time after being convicted of federal drug trafficking charges.
As she was leaving, prison guards noticed something very odd about the overstuffed suitcase Arjona was toting. The suitcase, on wheels, was clearly overstuffed and something inside moved as Arjona, who was six months pregnant, attempted to take it up the stairs that led out of the prison.
The guards stopped a nervous Arjona and checked the contents of the suitcase. Inside they found Tijerna packed away inside, curled up in the fetal position.
Luckily the guards snapped the following picture of their find before taking Tijerna back to his cell, and the Internet thanks them for doing so. It really is a great picture…almost looks like the suitcase is giving birth.…

San Antonio, TX – Didn’t find a lot of articles on this story, but the one I did find had enough details to warrant posting yet another story of a minor being sexually abused on camera.
Police in San Antonio have arrested a 29-year-old woman accused of filming herself molesting a young girl. Reports are that a friend of Kristen Lea Bush was looking through her cell phone when he stumbled upon some videos of a young girl being sexually assaulted.
The video did not show Bush’s face but he recognized her voice and hands which, judging by the mugshot, probably made it look like the poor girl was being molested by two hams.
Police arrested Bush on Monday, just as she was about to leave town, on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, possession of child pornography and sexual performance of a child.…

Fall River, Mass. – This story is quickly going viral, so I figured what the hell, it’s more interesting than the Walmart hammer attack I was about to post. Police are saying that the woman pulled from a public swimming pool on Tuesday likely drowned on Sunday and remained floating in the pool for almost three days without anyone noticing.
Marie Joseph, 36, went to the Vietnam Veterans’ Pool at Lafayette Park with another family on Sunday and helped escort a 9-year-old on a slide that dumps its occupants into the deep end of the pool. The boy says after he hit the water, Joseph came down the slide unexpectedly and landed on him. He never saw her come out of the water.
The boy told lifeguards, but they allegedly ignored him. Joseph’s family realized she was missing when she never returned home and became increasingly worried after pool personnel returned some clothing, a cell phone and a Massachusetts identification card they had found at the pool after closing on Sunday evening.
The pool was open for business Monday and Tuesday, packed with swimmers beating the heat who never noticed or saw poor Joseph’s body floating in the water.…

Omaha, Nebraska – One of our readers sent us a few links to a story going on in Omaha that I thought the rest of you would find interesting. It details an incident where two young boys, ages 12 and 13, have been accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl in a neighborhood park.
It all started on June 14th, when the little girl and her 7-year-old brother were lured to a drainage ditch by the two older boys. Initial reports were that the two boys threatened to beat up the younger pair if they didn’t do what they said. They then made the siblings pull down their pants and used their cellphones to record the girl’s private area. Later it was revealed the assault included penetration, fondling and worst of all, forcing the young girl to perform oral sex on them as well as her brother.
The brother and sister ran home after the assault and told their mother who then called police. They were able to quickly locate the boys and arrest them.…

GOLDSBORO, NC – On Sunday, police responded to a call at the Busco Beach ATV Park and Campground after someone called and reported the rape of a 19-year-old girl.
They ended up charging 40-year-old Anthony Mancenty Pfaff with second-degree rape but before they took him to jail, they took him to the hospital.
Seems that before they arrived a relative of the victim doled out a bit of North Carolina justice on Pfaff’s face, his injuries captured in his booking photo for everyone to laugh at.
After being treated for his ass-kicking, he was released from the hospital and booked into jail with a bond set at $100,000. As of today, he’s still there.…

Austin, TX – Lot of people talking about this one the other day. I was hoping to get some more details, but as it stands now, the girl who was found dead in a ventilation shaft a month after going missing simply made a dumb decision and died horribly for it.
Investigators believe that on May 23, 26-year-old Jamie Minor, a cute brunette with possible mental issues, climbed into a ventilation duct on the third floor of a parking garage connected to Perry’s Steakhouse in an attempt to meet a friend who worked there.
Earlier that day, Minor had been fired from her job as a hostess at the Trace restaurant after her employer stated she was acting erratically. They called for someone to pick her up, but by time that person arrived, Minor had already left and walked five blocks to Perry’s.
Video surveillance capture Minor trying two separate doors to the establishment, but they were locked. That’s when investigators feel Minor attempted to gain entry into the restaurant via the air ducts…which anyone who watches Mythbusters can tell you is a very, very bad idea…especially if you do so without a cell phone.…

HOUSTON, TX – James John Onak, 49 is currently in jail after police say he struck a man with his car, severing one of the victim’s legs, then drove around with the man’s body in his car after it was sent through the windshield.
Eleven minutes after hitting the 32-year-old motorist whose car had broke down on the Gulf Freeway, he was spotted by police a couple miles away driving erratically and pulled over. That’s when the officer made the gruesome discovery lying on the passenger side floorboard and informed Onak he had picked up a hitchiker.
But unlike Chante Mallard and Vincent Riojas, both of whom knew they had hit someone and then left the victim’s to die horrible deaths after crashing through their windshields, Onak reportedly had no clue he had picked up a motorist who had been walking to a nearby service station.
“He was kind of oblivious to it, actually. Once the deputy got the gentlemen out of the car it became obvious that there was, in fact, a deceased body on the passenger floorboard,” said Captain Jason Finnen with the Precinct 8 Constable’s Office.…

Gary, Indiana – Some of you may remember the extremely depressing story of Christian Choate. He was the 13-year-old boy whose body was found underneath a concrete slab in a trailer park a couple months back. That’s where some of his family had buried him after they murdered him two years earlier.
What made the story even worse than the fact that a 13-year-old boy could be murdered and no one even miss him was the revelation of the years of abuse this boy suffered at the hands of his father, stepmother and his siblings leading up to his death. Aside from the physical abuse the boy was forced to live in a cage like a dog every day for the last year of his life.
Impqueen stated in her article that the boy’s death was probably a sweet release and now it seems as if she was right. The Northwest Indiana Times is reporting that letters have been found, written by Christian, in which he talks about wanting to be liked by his family and how he wanted to die.…

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – What’s up with all the breast milk in the news today? We’ve got one story where someone used it as a weapon, and now we have one in which it killed an infant.
Back in November, police found 37-year-old Stephanie Greene’s six-week-old infant, Alexis, dead at her home after responding to a 911 call. They didn’t know the cause of death at the time, but after a six-month investigation Greene has been charged with murder or homicide by child abuse or neglect.
Turns out she had been abusing painkillers while breastfeeding her daughter, and the high levels of morphine in her breast milk is what killed her daughter.
On top of the murder charge, Greene is also facing facing 38 counts of violating state drug distribution laws.
Police found that for about a year prior to her daughter’s death, Greene was scamming doctors with fake prescriptions to get obtain the drugs, including oxycodone and hydrocodone. At the time Alexis was born, Greene was taking pills and using illegally obtained patches containing morphine.…

CINCINNATI, OH – A woman has been charged with biting a police officer arresting her on domestic violence allegations.
That lovely young woman you are looking at (bigger picture if you dare) is 30-year-old Danielle Duncan. She was being taken into custody last week after allegedly beating her boyfriend with a picture frame and hitting him in the head with a coffee pot.
The Gavan O’Herlihy look-a-like wasn’t going to go willingly and during the struggle with the arresting police officers, Duncan reportedly bit Officer Yvonne Gutapfel on the arm. She also informed them that she was HIV-positive and has hepatitis.
No word on if her claims are actually true or not, but Duncan was charged with felonious assault, domestic violence and resisting arrest.…

Rock Hill, SC – Police have arrested a 35-year-old man after they say after beating a woman, he pissed on her.
On Friday morning, police were called to a couple’s home and once there, heard a female inside yelling for help. When officers went inside the home, they found a woman with wet hair yelling “He pee’d on me!!” according to the police report.
She informed them that after Anthony Sharif Sanders, the father of her two kids, punched and kicked her, he then turned her into a piss mop with a healthy stream of urine to her face. After noting the woman had swelling under her right eye and forehead to go along with her wet hair and face, they arrested Sanders.
Sanders was charged with aggravated assault/criminal domestic violence and possession of marijuana after admitting to owning the five grams of weed police found in the home.
Seeing this happened in Rock Hill, SC I’m surprised the father of her two kids was actually in the home. However, seeing this happened in Rock Hill, SC, I’m not surprised that the woman with wet hair and smelling of piss had to specifically point out to police that she’d been urinated on.…

Gurnee, Ill – Sometimes there are just so many depressing things in a news article that it almost seems like it’s all made up. This is one of those articles.
In an attempt to save her cancer-stricken Doberman, Romulus, from being put down, 15-year-old Taylor Mae Stinchcomb stole her family’s mini van Tuesday night with the dog and a 15-year-old friend.
There is no word on where they were headed or if they had formulated some kind of plan after stealing the van, but at some point Stinchcomb became too distraught to drive and traded places with her friend. The friend ended up flipping the vehicle and crashing into some trees and a utility pole.
Witnesses say Stinchcomb was alive and talking after the crash, but pinned inside the van. Sadly, she would die at the hospital from multiple internal injuries. Romulus was also killed when he was thrown from the vehicle. The friend, reportedly the only one wearing a seatbelt, survived with minor injuries.
Stinchcomb got Romulus two years ago from the shelter for her 13th birthday and was having a tough time dealing with his recent cancer diagnosis.…

Melbourne, Australia — A man accused of killing his openly gay roommate by bashing his head in with a 17-lb platypus statue was found guilty of murder for the second time.
Back in September of 2006, 29-year-old Aaron James Johnstone went apeshit when his gay roommate, 46-year-old Phillip William Higgins, walked out of his room naked and expressed a desire for some oral sex.
Johnstone’s idea of oral was markedly different from Higgin’s I suppose as it didn’t include any sucky-sucky, just a hell of a lot of punching, kicking, an office chair and eventually a hefty platypus statue to the noggin.
Both men were extremely intoxicated at the time, and while Johnstone admitted to assaulting his roommate, he says he had no desire to kill him. But the prosecution countered that Higgin’s broken neck, as well as the new hat Johnstone thoughtfully dropped on Higgin’s head, proved he was either trying to kill the guy or really, really mess him up.
A jury agreed and found Johnstone guilty of murder for the second time.…

KETTERING, Ohio – A couple have been arrested and charged with abduction and child endangerment after cell phone video was discovered showing them binding a scared 3 year-old girl with duct tape and then making fun of her.
The little girl’s mother, 22-year-old Sherry Allender, and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Charles Jones Junior, were arrested on Tuesday after the mother of the girl’s biological father called police. She says her son had purchased the cell phone from Allender and she had found a disturbing video depicting the couple as they duct-taped the girl’s wrists, legs and mouth.
“The tape shows that this girl is visibly scared and upset,” said Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck. “At one point the boyfriend of the mother rips off the duct tape from her mouth, resulting in the little girl screaming and crying. You hear both defendants laughing, poking fun at the little girl”.
Their reason for doing this? They had been drinking and thought it would be fun.
I know it may come as a surprise that someone with such an awesome neck tattoo would have a criminal history, but Jones has five felony convictions under his belt, including receiving stolen property, burglary, grand theft of a firearm, breaking and entering and complicity to commit grand theft.…
