Convicted Child Killer Stops Fighting Death Penalty, Says He Deserves To Die

Sioux Falls – A man on death row, twice convicted of the rape and murder of 9-year-old Becky O’Connell in 1990, has asked that all efforts to stop his execution be terminated — he’d like to die now.
In 1992, Donald Moeller was convicted of kidnapping O’Connell from a Sioux Falls convenience store, driving her to a secluded area near the Big Sioux River, and then raping her before stabbing her and slashing her throat. Her naked body was found the next day.
He was convicted a second time in 1997, after the original conviction was overturned due to improper evidence was used at trial, and he was sentenced to death. So for the last 22 years Moeller has sat on death row on the taxpayers’ dime while his appeals ran their course. During this time he says he watches the news, reads the paper, writes and watches old movies.
Part of the the delay in his execution wasn’t just because of his appeals, but because of the method of execution used in South Dakota that has left Moeller’s state-court lawyer fighting with Arkansas-based federal public defenders.…

Exeter, CA – Earlier this month, Christopher Cheary was arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of three-year-old Sophia Acosta. On Thursday morning he was being taken from the Tulare County Jail to the Visalia Courthouse via an underground tunnel when three other inmates attacked him.
Deputies did not reveal if Cheary was injured or how the fight started, but I’m going to take a wild guess that the other inmates did not particularly like Cheary. Not just because he was accused of killing a child, but because he was also accused of raping and killing a child.
In May, the girl was found unconcious in her room and taken to the hospital where she would die a few days later from head injuries. Cheary claimed he and the girl’s mother were using heroin when 
they heard a noise from the girl’s room. When they went to investigate they found her laying naked on the floor and unresponsive. Cheary told investiagtors he believed the girl had fallen out of bed and hit her head.…
Columbus, Ohio – Not a big surprise, but the man accused of killing his child by repeatedly slamming him on the ground has been indicted on aggravated murder charges and had his bail set at $2.5 million.
As Jaded reported in November, 20-year-old Quindell Sherman was charged murdering his 3-month-old son, Jayden Sherman after getting into an argument with the child’s mother. During this argument, Sherman slammed the infant onto a concrete landing. He then struck the baby’s mother, Sonja Mitchell, and great-grandmother, Carolynne Holmes, before picking the baby up and throwing him an estimated 25 feet, into the middle of E. 16th Avenue.
Sherman then ran into the street, grabbed the infant by an arm and “dragged him down the street like a rag doll,” police reported. Not quite finished, this monster then ran into an alley, turned around to face the house and slammed his son on the ground again. He grabbed the baby again and hid in a trash bin, where officers said they found him standing on the child.…

Columbus, OH – Following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend late Tuesday evening, police say 20-year-old Quindell Sherman grabbed his 3-month-old son and repeatedly threw the child to the pavement. “When I looked around I saw him grab the baby, probably for the second time, and toss the baby on the pavers over there on the road,” said neighbor Barbara Webb. “Head first and then dangle the baby with one arm in the air.” After slam-dunkin’ the kid several times, Sherman picked him up and ran off down the street. Both he and the severely injured infant were found in a nearby dumpster. Responding officers attempted to resuscitate the child, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. Quindell Sherman has been booked on murder charges. According the Sherman’s girlfriend, this isn’t the act of violence in their relationship. She told police that back in January, while she was still pregnant, Sherman pushed her down, struck her and spit on her. No charges were filed because she was uninjured and had admitted to striking Sherman as well.…

Oakland, CA- 2-year-old Kamilah Russell, who is described as a vibrant little girl who liked the color pink and the cartoon Dora the Explorer, died yesterday around 4:30 in the afternoon. The person believed to be responsible for her death is her 19-year old mother, Tiffany Lopez. Family members called 911 reporting the girl needed help and she was transported to the Children’s Hospital in Oakland, where she was pronounced dead from suffocation. Lopez, who is 3-months pregnant, first told investigators she had accidentally sat on Kamilah as the two played hide-and-seek, but later admitted that she had become frustrated with her daughter. Lopez was arrested on suspicion of murder. As recent as February, Lopez was charged with two counts of child endangerment and one count of resisting arrest due to an incident on Christmas Eve. The children who were allegedly endangered were Lopez’s 11-year old brother and her then 4-month old daughter.…

TRENTON, Florida – 911 received a phone call at 5:30 am Monday morning in regards to a young girl not breathing. By time medical personnel arrived at the trailer of Matthew Roland and his girlfriend, Chelci Folds, Matthew’s 4-year-old daughter was already dead. Matthew has now been arrested and facing charges of aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child. Monday night, Nino’s 3 year old son, Aziriah wet himself. Nino, being the caring mother that she is, told him she loved him anyway, bathed him and dressed him in a nice clean set of pajamas. OMAHA, Neb. - Back in August of 2006, Chantal Randall, 31, and mother of 7, was watching 17-month-old Rosalyn Clarke when she punched the girl in the stomach after the girl pulled her hair. The punch was so hard that it sent the girl across the room. She suffered blunt-force trauma to the liver and died.
