COLLEGE STATION, Texas - I do not know 37-year-old Sherry Mahlmann personally. Aside from what I have read regarding this specific incident, I have no idea how hard her life may be – especially raising a kid with special needs. But what she did to her two young sons on Wednesday angers me like you wouldn’t believe. Police say that she went to a Hertz near the Easterwood airport and rented a car for one day. While she was inside, her 6-year-old son came in and begged her not to leave him and his 10-year-old brother who requires a feeding tube. Mahlmann, a teacher, reassured him that they would call daddy. Half-an-hour after leaving, the 6-year-old came back inside the agency and told the employees that he and his sibling had been abandoned. They went outside and found his brother inside a van, Mahlmann nowhere to be found. She returned two hours later and told a policeman that he needed to arrest her. Which he did. She was subsequently charged with two counts of child abandonment and released on $18,000 bond.…

Cleveland, OH - The 15-year-old boy just couldn’t stand to see his brother being abused any longer, so he decided to do something about it. “My little brother is downstairs tied up to a table and he’s trying to get out,” said the young caller to a 911 dispatcher. “Who did this to him?” asked the dispatcher. My mom makes my sister tie him up every night or she gets beat.” When police arrived at the home from where the call originated, sure as shit, there was a kid tied to a coffee table. The boy was hog-tied with duct tape and a shoestring around his neck and feet tied him to the table. His parents, 37-year-old Andreia Huffman and 32-year-old Jason Dunikowski, were sound asleep nearby. After freeing the kid from the table, the responding officers discovered discoloration in the boys hands and feet, indicating he had been tied up for quite some time, and it appeared as if his nose had been broken.  Now that mom and dad were awake, they had some ‘splainin to do.…

13-yr Old Turned Parents In For Drug Use

April 27, 2010 at 11:00 am by

Clovis, NM- On April 23, investigators served a search warrant at a residence in Clovis after a 13-year old child reported that their parents were addicted to drugs and using them on a regular basis inside the home. The child claimed the home was a continuous environment of fighting, drinking, and drug abuse and they were scared for their safety and the safety of their siblings. The child also said they had found a bag containing drugs in the house and hid them from the parents. Agents searched the home and found this bag and identified its contents as methamphetamine. They also searched a garbage container behind the house and found a bag containing mail belonging to one of the parents, beer cans, and numerous items used to consume methamphetamine. These items included 33 individual pieces of burned aluminum foil, known as “rails”, and straws which facilitate the ingestion of the drug. All the items contained residue that tested positive for methamphetamine. …

Manchester, NH -- Shawn and Nancy Innie made an extremely informed decision when they decided to buy a dog. They purchased an 80-pound pit bull from someone they found on Craigslist. I mean, what could go wrong? Well, a couple things. On Saturday their kids, a 7-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter, got to meet their new four-legged friend. Upon entering their apartment, the pit bull attacked them both in what the new owner’s described as an unprovoked attack. Luckily the dog did not kill them, but the girl suffered bites to an arm while the boy got some stitches to close up wounds and lacerations to his face. The dog was taken by the Animal Control Division. Shawn and Nancy…seriously? An 80-pound pit bull from someone on Craigslist? And who the hell needs an 80-pound dog for God’s sake? I mean, if you need something to guard a room full of magical treasure in your castle, sure, I get it. But an apartment?  If I were a prosecutor in that state, and the events leading up to the attack are as reported, I’d charge these two morons with child endangerment.…

Waco, Texas- Here on DD alone , we see way too many sperm donors and not enough fathers. On Tuesday, Jason Allen was at his father’s home when he became upset about having to pay child support for his 3-year old son. Allen suddenly grabbed the child by the throat and started choking him. He then threw the boy down on a sofa and the boy began crying. When his son would not stop crying, Allen grabbed the child once again and dangled him off the second floor balcony and told the boy he would be dropped if he didn’t stop crying. Eventually, the boy was pulled back up, and suffered slight bruising around his neck. After paramedics checked the child out at the scene, he was released him to his mother. Jason Allen, 27, was arrested without incident and charged with injury to a child and endangering a child. He is being held in lieu of bonds totaling $500,000. Here is a thought, Allen. If you didn’t want to be a responsible father, you should have used a condom.…

Couple Accused Of Torturing Toddler

April 20, 2010 at 8:52 am by

Santa Maria, CA- Lorena Arenas, 23, and Jose Luis Gonzalez, 41, are accused of torturing their 2-year old child last Wednesday. Authorities believe Lorena punished the toddler by holding her arms under scalding tap water for about five minutes which gave her third-degree burns on her hands and forearms. Police say it is Jose who refused to take the child to the hospital. They kept the child at home for more than 13 hours before Lorena finally took the child to a hospital. Due to the severity of the burns, the child was transported to the Sherman Oaks Burn Center for continued treatment. Police were notified and Lorena Arenas was arrested on suspicion of torture, aggravated mayhem, kidnapping, burglary, false imprisonment and child endangerment. Her bail was set at $250,000. Here is something I have never heard before. The police added kidnapping for “moving the child a distance to commit a felony,” and burglary for “moving the child into a different room in the house to commit a felony.” Gonzalez was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment for failing to get obvious needed medical care for his child.…

Watertown, CT- And that is not just because of their looks. On April 1, a nurse who routinely visited the home of Marci and Merle Stimpson became alarmed when she noticed large bruises on their 4-month old infant and swelling on the baby’s head. The nurse called 911 and the baby was taken to a hospital where doctors found that the infant had suffered 12 rib fractures, a skull fracture, a black eye and extensive bruising. Three of the rib fractures were caused by squeezing, a doctor told police. When questioned, Merle Stimpson gave the investigators many excuses for the bruises, including that the family cat jumped on the child’s back, that he accidentally dropped the baby a lot because he’s a “klutz”, and then he blamed the baby’s medication saying it was known to cause bruising. After realizing the cops were not buying the diarrhea pouring from his mouth, Merle Stimpson fessed up. He told the officers that on March 21 he was mad at his wife and when he tried to feed the baby, the child kept spitting the bottle out.…

Dallas, Texas – Okay, so minors aren’t allowed in strip clubs. But is the proper place for them locked in an illegally parked vehicle outside the strip club? Apparently, dad of the year, Michael Galloway thinks so. 36-year-old Galloway wanted to hang out at the titty bar for a while and didn’t want to expose his children to it, so he allegedly left his 9 month old and 3 year old in the car. The car was parked illegally and a tow truck was preparing to tow it away when the driver saw the 3 year old waving to him from the back seat of the car. The doors were locked and the windows were up. Galloway claimed to have been in the bar for only 20 minutes (like that makes it okay). Witnesses at the bar, however, had seen him drinking for more than an hour and a half. Then Galloway claimed to be there checking on his wife who supposedly worked there. Nope – she’s at home waiting for her kids and husband to get home.…

EAST HAMPTON, Conn. – Police were called to Flatbrook Road after receiving a call about two young children being seen playing unsupervised in the woods. When officers arrived, they found two boys, ages 2 and 3, clad only in diapers and walking near a stream in the rain. From the looks of them, they had been outside for at least an hour, so an ambulance was called to make sure they were physically okay. While police were still on the scene, the boy’s mother, 27-year-old Julie Root, showed up. Police say she was under the influence of pain medication and she told them they boys wandered off after she had fallen asleep. The father of the boys was at the home at the time but was also asleep. Since Root was the one who was in charge of the boys, she was arrested (before picking a different shirt) and charged with risk of injury to a minor and reckless endangerment. She was released on a $10,000 bond. “There’s no neglect,” said the father.…

Detroit – Police were called to the Summit Lanes bowling alley around 12:30 a.m.Sunday on a report of two young children abandoned in a car located in the parking lot. When police arrived they found a 4-year-old and 6-year-old boy inside a locked car. The boys told officers that they had been in the car for the last two days while their father and thier uncle drove around drinking. They had not eaten in all this time. The responding officers bought the boys some food and arrested the the children’s 28-year-old father and 27-year-old uncle inside of the bowling alley – they were both drunk. Both men now face face child abandonment charges and the Department of Human Services has gotten involved. Both boys are currently back with their mother…they were only with their father because it was part of his visitation agreement. Nice one, Dad. Although better than my Easter with my old man when I was four. I got a carton of cigarettes. The old man grabbed me and said “Hey. Smoke up Johnny.”…

Police: Girl, 15, Sold Sister, 7, For Sex

March 31, 2010 at 1:23 pm by

Trenton, NJ – A 15-year-old girl has been arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault, criminal restraint, terroristic threats, endangering the welfare of a child, and promoting prostitution after she allegedly sold her 7-year-old sister to a group of boys at a party. The teen and her sibling left home late Sunday afternoon, and after speaking with a couple of males outside of an apartment building, headed to a party inside. Once inside, the teen accepted money for sex acts with several people inside the residence. As she headed for the bedroom, her younger sister was left alone in a room full of strangers. When she returned, the teen handed her sister a handful of cash and told her the money was hers if she allowed the boys in the room to have sex with her. The 7-year-old was then gang-raped by as many as 7 males, both adults and juveniles. After the assault, two unidentified people took the young girl home while the older girl stayed behind to party.…

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Police raided the home of Thomas Way, 22, and Kristian Augeri, 23, searching for drugs. Reports say aside from drugs and guns, they also found a digital camera with some interesting video on it. Police say the video shows their 3-year-old son holding a glass bowl and trying to light it with a lighter. While he does this, Thomas sits beside him while Kristian films. Both of them laughing. The boy never gets the bowl lit, but police say he can be seen inhaling and coughing. The couple now sits in jail facing charges that include risk of injury to a child, the boy is staying with relatives. Augeri’s father, a long-time member of the Middleton police department, must be so proud. But what takes this story to even higher levels of retardation, are the comments made by Way’s sister, Stephanie.…

Yuma - A 20-year-old father was arrested the other day after his 14-month-old son got to experience drowning in sewage. On Wednesday, police and rescue workers were called out to a residence on a report of a child drowning. Turns out 14-month-old Aiden Lee Bailey had been left outside to play while his parents went inside. Unfortunately for the kid, he fell into an open cesspool being used by an RV on the property. Rescuers were not able to revive Aiden, and after interviewing the parents, Michael Wilson was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Jail on one count of hindering prosecution – which I think simply means that he lied about the events that happened. A medical examination revealed Aiden’s core body temperature at a level that suggests he had been in the hole for longer than previously thought. The boy’s mother, Crystal Baily, 20, has not been arrested but charges have been forwarded to the county attorney, including child negligence.…

What A Couple Of Morons…

March 3, 2010 at 12:50 pm by

Philadelphia, PA - Last Saturday, a couple and their 4-year-old son walked into the Platinum and Ice Jewelry store and asked to look at some women’s rings. After eyeing several rings, the two created some kind of diversion that led a store employee to buzz open the security door for the female, who was later identified as Sheakia Stubbs. As she was holding the door open, her companion, John Benson, dropped one of the rings he was examining. When the salesperson bent down to pick it up, Benson snatched a tray of rings worth about $100,000 from under the counter, grabbed his son, and beat feet out of the store while stuffing the rings into a shopping bag. Multi-tasking FTW! The store owner and an employee gave chase, finally catching up to the couple a few blocks away. At some point during the verbal confrontation, Benson whipped out a knife and slashed the store owner’s neck. With that, Benson and Stubbs were on the run again. But the dumbasses left something behind – their kid.…

The parents immediately contacted officials at Killingly Intermediate School on Feb 17th. The police were contacted after the school found that the girl was absent. Police found the girl home where she had been living alone for about a week, the only food left for her consisting of cookies and ice cream. Police reached Kasseris by phone who informed officers she would not be back until the 19th. The Department of Children and Families is now involved and court documents reveal that Kasseris may have been leaving the girl home alone for several years. Stanley, NC – Delmer Frank James Doss (if you cannot decide on a name, use them all) and Amber Lynn Burgess, both 19, are facing misdemeanor child abuse charges after police found a 1-minute, 18-second video of them blindfolding their 11-month-old son and having him run between the two. Burgess told NewsChannel 36 on Thursday that the video looks worse than it was. She said her son was not injured and the family was just having fun. “That kid is all I have in this whole world,” Doss said. “I love him more than anything in the world.” But police say that what they witnessed was abuse. They also charged 16-year-old Brandon Doss with contributing to the delinquency of a minor for telling the parents to steer the boy towards a wall. A 15-year-old witness, whose parents are the ones who notified police, told investigators that the boy actually did run into the wall a couple times before the videotaping began. Department of Social Services is now investigating.…

LAKELAND, Fla – A 9-year-old boy’s mother purchased an inert WWII “pineapple” grenade from an auction two years ago and had been using it as a paperweight until July 4th. That’s when her 9-year-old son, Edward Weise III, and his father took the black powder from firecrackers and stuffed it into the grenade and topped it off with a wick. It turned out to be a dud and the grenade was placed in a flower pot on an entertainment center. On Thursday, the boy was seen with the grenade, as well as a lighter. “This 9-year-old child, doing what 9-year-old children do, had this grenade in his hand, and he had a small lighter, and he touched the lighter to this grenade and it exploded,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said. “The explosion was significant enough that when the explosion went off in the kitchen, that shrapnel went through the kitchen wall into other rooms of the house,” Judd said. Now a couple of people are in a bit of trouble.…

Adults Use Kids To Steal Purse At Chuck E. Cheese

February 22, 2010 at 11:39 am by

Indianapolis – On Valentine’s Day, Mandie Harrington was celebrating her son’s birthday at an Indianapolis Chuck E. Cheese when she noticed her purse was missing. She notified the manager who immediately reviewed the surveillance tape. On the tape they witnessed an adult woman in red instructing a little girl to grab Harrington’s purse. The little girl does so and then takes the purse to a man sitting nearby. The woman in red then puts the purse under her coat and leaves the store. “It’s disgusting that somebody would teach a little girl to steal like that,” Harrington said. “It just really makes me angry.” Police believe that this little operation went too smoothly and feel that the individuals involved have been up to this type of thing for awhile. They would like to talk to them. …

HAZELWOOD, Pa. – A babysitter may be in some hot water after a cab driver found a 7-year-old boy wandering the snow-covered streets of a Pittsburgh neighborhood. Tuesday night. Clad only in a t-shirt and pajama bottoms, the barefoot boy told the man that his mom was at school and his dad was at work. After police arrived and took the boy home, they were shocked to find 1-year-old twins alone in an upstairs bedroom. Turns out, a 20-year-old cousin was supposed to watch the kids but left for school leaving the siblings in the care of his girlfriend. For whatever reason, the girl left. The parents will not be charged, but police say the girlfriend who was last with the children probably will be. “He could have been hit by a car. For all you know, he could have fallen in a snow drift or something, it was pretty cold out. We’re lucky there wasn’t a fire here in the house because of the infants in the house,” said police officer Terry Koman.…
