ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A mother has been arrested and charged with child abuse after her 2-year-old son was diagnosed with an STD. Police say that Amanda Lunsford, 26, would physically and emotionally abuse the boy, often leaving him alone with strange men or locked in a room so she could go out to party. She told investigators that the boy’s crying “would make me drink, and I would hit him.” Her sister-in-law also said that Lunsford told her that she often used Nyquil to shut the kid up, using three bottles in two months. Police believe the abuse happened earlier this year while the mother was living with her half sister in Albuquerque. The abuse was not discovered until Lunsford gave the boy to her sister-in-law in Texas who took the child to the doctor after finding bruising on his face and buttocks along with and cuts and scratches. By time doctors found the toddler had an STD, Lunsford had already left Texas. She was eventually  arrested in Oklahoma and now faces five counts of child abuse resulting in great bodily harm.…

San Diego, CA – Remember the terrible story we posted back in April about a 7-month-old baby boy whose testicles were chewed off after his mother left him alone, strapped in his carseat, in a room with an adult pit bull and 6-month-old weimaraner-pit bull mix? For those who don’t feel like clicking, the child was left unattended in the room for about 10 minutes while mom was elsewhere in the home. The younger dog apparently went sniffing around the infant’s diaper and ended up gnawing on the boy’s scrotum. The child lost both testicles and will forever be required to undergo hormone therapy. Mom, 22-year-old Carrie Rae McKinney, was eventually arrested and charged with felony child endangerment. At McKinney’s preliminary hearing last Friday, Judge Dennis McConaghy characterized the attack as nothing more than a terrible accident and dismissed the case. “I don’t see a crime here,” he said. Prosecutor Sasha Jones argued that McKinney should have known it was dangerous to leave her child unattended around “aggressively playful” dogs. Defense attorney Richard Briones-Colman said that both animals were family dogs, not attack dogs.…

WAUSAU, Wis — A Wisconsin man has been charged with repeatedly raping a 9-year-old girl and to make matters worse, the girl’s mother knew it was happening. Police got involved after receiving a call from social services and the fact that a registered sex offender who lived in the home, Clyde McCollum, was bragging about being in love with the girl and told others that he was going to marry her. During their investigation it was revealed that Bryan Hearron, the boyfriend of the girl’s mother, had been repeatedly raping the child. “Bryan stated he was providing lessons to [the child] regarding bad things that could happen to her from sex offenders,” the criminal complaint reads. The girl told her mother Hearron had raped her in the bathroom but even knowing that and even walking in on him in bed with the girl, she did nothing. “She indicated she needed Bryan to live with her for support and also because she would not have enough money to live on her own without his help,” the complaint said.…

Pasadena, California – Some of you watching or reading the news yesterday were probably aware of an Amber Alert issued for 3-year-old Dylan Kurihara. He is the boy who was last seen leaving a wedding reception with his father, 23-year-old Joe Kurihara, in a silver Lexus RX 300 on Saturday night. When the mother had not heard from either of them for hours she started calling police stations trying to locate them. Turns out that Kurihara had been arrested for public intoxication hours after he left the wedding reception. The problem was that he was walking at the time of his arrest and did not have his son, nor were police aware the boy was supposed to be with him. Even worse, once police were notified, Kurihara had no recollection of ever having his son with him in the first place. Luckily, before I was able to type up the story regarding the search for the missing toddler, he had already been found. On Sunday night, searcher Rowdy Metzger located the boy sleeping in his car seat inside his father’s vehicle parked in a parking garage.…

LAWRENCE, Kansas - Back in June, police began investigating a couple after two sisters ages 8 and 10, told their parents that a family friend, 32-year-old Donald L. Brown, had been raping them repeatedly over the last two years. He would eventually be charged with rape of a child under 14 years of age, three counts of aggravated criminal sodomy of a child under 14 years of age and two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. But the investigation also revealed that his wife, 33-year-old Natasha M. Brown, was aware of what her husband was doing to the young girls and had deliberately exposed herself to one of them. She would be charged with two counts of aggravated endangering a child and one count of lewd and lascivious behavior. On Monday a jury found her guilty on those charges and she now faces probation or 17-months in prison for each count. Her husband’s trial will begin on Jan. 24, 2011, and I can’t wait.…

CINCINNATI – Samantha Brewer, the woman who took her kids with her to rob homes while she was pregnant, has plead guilty and sentenced to four years in prison. She apologized for her actions and made no excuses. “I’m not going to try and make up any excuses or justification. I know that I did wrong. And I apologize so much,” she said. She told the court that it was her addiction to pain medication that led to her breaking into homes, sometimes while taking her kids to school. She said that after gastric bypass surgery in 2008, her pain medications were cut off, but by that time she was already an addict. She said she lied to her family about her drug and alcohol addictions, resorting to burglarizing homes in the area to help pay for drugs. “When you are addicted to something, nothing else at that time matters than you and your addiction, and it’s not right and it doesn’t make sense,” Brewer said. “Everything is about that next high.” Although she was sentenced to four years in prison, the judge could move her into rehab at a later date.…

NORTH WALES, Pa. - Every now and then I see a picture of a guy attached to a crime story and I immediately think “pedophile.” That includes this story sent to us by our good friends over at Kindertrauma regarding a former vice principle who has been accused of striking up a rather inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old boy. I would’ve bet my gaudy McMansion that 37-year-old Charles Hurst spent a lot of time in the boy’s underwear department at Target purely from this pic of him sporting a creepy smile from underneath his Justin Bieber haircut. Investigators say Hurst befriended the boy’s family and stepped in as some sort of father figure, taking the teen to the gym, skiing, and 76ers games. He gave the boy an allowance that he’d bump a buck anytime the teen jacked off and told him about it. From the reports it seems Hurst was pretty adamant about the boy jacking off, instructing him to do so at least twice a day because it was healthy and would make him smarter.…

Police Say Aimee Archer Ran Over Her Kid, Lied About It

September 23, 2010 at 12:37 pm by

Bakersfield, CA – Aimee Archer called 911 Tuesday night and told a dispatcher her 4-year-old child had been the victim of a hit-and-run. When officers arrived on scene, Archer reportedly told them her child, angry because she wasn’t getting fast food that night, bolted out of the car and ran into the street where she was hit by a car. “I ran into the middle of the street and I got my baby and I put her into the car,” Archer said in an interview with KGET.  “And I asked my baby what’s wrong? What’s wrong? Tell me what’s happened. She told, she said mommy, somebody ran over my head.” Police, however, call bullshit. They say Archer has indicated that she’s the one who ran the child over. Archer, 28, been booked on charges of felony child endangerment and false report of an emergency. She continues to insist someone else hit the child and hopes the guilty party comes forward. “I’m not guilty of this,” she said. “Everything in my past I may have been guilty of, but since I’ve been in here, I’ve been crying my eyes out.

September 17, 2010 at 8:48 am by

According to police, Epperson was hired to babysit five siblings on August 20th while their mother went out for the evening. At some point between 8:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m., Epperson allegedly followed the young boy into the bathroom, pulled down her pants and underwear and demanded the child do the same. When the boy refused, Epperson reportedly threatened to “tell his mom.” Exactly what she was going to tell his mom is unclear. Police say the boy waited nearly a week before informing his mother of the incident. Epperson was arrested on Wednesday and charged with first-degree rape, unlawful sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child. Mom Accused Of Abusing Sons, Making Them Eat Feces, Vomit And Cat UrineCleveland, Ohio — More information released on the woman we covered back in August who was accused of beating her son with an iron.

After 37-year-old Talthina Jackson found her her 15-year-old son on her computer, she accused him of stealing then choked him, hit him with her keys, an aerosol can and an iron. The bleeding boy ran to a neighbor who called police.

Police would find the teen was covered in scars from past abuse at the hands of his mother, and he wasn’t the only one. His 14-year-old brother was also targeted, and what she did to him was just downright disgusting.

Reports say she locked the kid in his room for so long he took a crap in his closet. When she found it, she made him eat it. Another time she found urine on some plastic that had been laid out for painting, so she made him lick it up. Turned out it was cat urine. Jackson has also been accused of making him eat cat food. When he vomited in the bowl, she made him eat that as well.…

NORWOOD, Ohio – A woman and her male acquaintance got themselves into some trouble with police after she enlisted his help in disciplining her 6-year-old son for not paying attention during his football practice. Charles Robinson, 41, forced the boy to run over a mile and a half and dragged the kid a long distance by his helmet’s facemask. Sgt. David Lewis witnessed Robinson dragging the boy and ordered him to stop. Robinson explained he was just teaching the boy a lesson at the request of the boy’s mother. Robinson and the second grader’s mother, Chellie Bowden, 36, were each charged with one count of endangering a child. In what is probably no big shock to anyone regarding a man who sees nothing wrong with disciplining a kid in this fashion, he has a history with police.  Quite a lengthy one, in fact. He’s been arrested at least 26 times for aggravated menacing, resisting arrest, domestic violence, trafficking in drugs, drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and receiving a stolen vehicle. He’s been convicted of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of cocaine, domestic violence and tampering with evidence.…

Chicago, IL – Tierra Aldridge, 24, reportedly walked into a West Side police station at approximately 4:20 Sunday morning and asked an officer, “Can I leave my son here, because I don’t want him anymore.” An officer told the woman that, no, she couldn’t just abandon her kid at the cop shop, but maybe the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services could assist her – would she like him to give ‘em a ring? Not satisfied with that answer, Aldridge reportedly threatened to leave the 3-year-old child outside on the curb if they didn’t take him in. “Maybe he’ll be raped or killed or something,” she said before walking out of the station without the boy. An officer followed her outside and immediately placed her under arrest. She’s been charged with endangering the life and health of a child. She’s also been slapped with a possession of a controlled substance after an officer found a white rock-like substance during a pat-down. Bond has been set at $75,000. The child was turned over to his grandmother and DCFS has been contacted.…

LAKE MARY, Fla. – One thing I look forward to when school starts, and that’s reporting on parents who try to pick their kids up while drunk. We already had one Florida mother try this earlier in the month, now we have another. Renee Godby, 43, was charged with driving under the influence after arriving at Lake Mary Elementary School to pick up her kid and accidentally hit another parent’s car. No one was hurt, but police believed she was drunk. After failing a field sobriety test, she was taken to jail and her son picked up by her father. I can imagine how that kid must have felt watching his mother fail a drunk test in front of the school and then placed in handcuffs in front of his classmates. Neighbors say they’ve seen the couple fighting in the yard but were not aware of Godby’s alcohol problem. This isn’t the first time Godby has been charged with a DUI, having been arrested in 1990 and 1993 for the same thing.…

Springfield, MO – Chilquitta Wane Favors, 25, has been charged in federal court with the attempted murder of her husband, Private Charles Favors, and their 10-month-old child. According to authorities, Chilquitta physically assaulted her husband last Friday and was ordered to have no contact with him. Paying no heed to said order, she reportedly slipped a foot-long chef’s knife into the sleeve of her jacket and set out to talk with her husband the very next day. When it was apparent that the man was not going to kiss and make up and was not going to allow her to take custody of her children, she pulled out the knife and got to stabbin. Unfortunately, Private Favors was holding their child in his arms at the time of the attack. The baby girl was knifed in the leg – the tendons, nerves and muscles were severed as a result. Charles suffered a 6-inch laceration to the back of his head in addition injuries to his back and arm. Chilquitta later told investigators that she was just going to keep on stabbing until her husband could no longer prevent her from taking the children.…

Livermore, CA – Gary Gomez is looking at attempted murder charges after an altercation with his 14-year-old son over the weekend. Gomez, his wife, his son and his son’s two friends were fishing at Bethany Reservoir late Sunday evening when one of the other boys decided he wanted to go home. This displeased Gomez – it was after midnight and he didn’t want to drive the kid home right that second. That displeased Gomez’s son – he was insistent that his father take his friend home. Tempers flared and an argument broke out. That led to a physical confrontation between father and son. Police say that when it was apparent the teen the upper-hand in the fist fight, Gomez reportedly pulled out a fishing knife and started getting stabby. The boy was stabbed a total of 11 times. When the kid’s mother tried to intervene, she was stabbed in the hand. The woman managed to get all three boys into the family van, and as she started to drive away, Gomez stabbed one of the tires.…

Lawrence Sitler Won’t Tolerate A Screaming Toddler

September 2, 2010 at 3:42 am by

Albuquerque, NM - When Cheri Moore’s cranky toddler started making a fuss on a city bus last Tuesday, a fellow passenger expressed his displeasure with the tot by asking Cheri to shut the kid up – the annoyed passenger had a headache. To avoid a confrontation with the annoyed passenger, Cheri and her friends exited the bus with the screaming 2-year-old a few stops ahead of their intended destination. Problem solved, right? Wrong. The annoyed passenger, Lawrence Sitler, still wasn’t satisfied. He followed the woman and her friends off the bus and, for one reason or another, confronted Cheri’s friend, Andrew Montaño. According to police, Sitler placed a knife against Montaño’s neck before slicing him on the arm. After slicing the dude’s arm, Sitler took off running. Witnesses to the attack followed after him while keeping 911 dispatchers informed of his location. Police eventually caught up with 46-year-old Sitler and booked him on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery and child endangerment because he got stabby in front of the toddler. …

Cincinnati, Ohio - We posted a short blurb on Samantha Brewer back in May after Dakota Valkyrie featured her in our Reality Bites section. She was the pregnant mother who would take her 5-year-old son to her jobs. Sadly, her jobs consisted of breaking into people’s homes while on the way to drop her kids off at school. On some of these occasions she would use her 5-year-old to act as a lookout or to put through windows so he could unlock the door from the inside. The former dental assistant would eventually get popped and plead guilty to over a dozen burglary charges and child endangerment in June. But on Monday a judge postponed her sentencing because a grand jury may be …

Gustine, CA – When Maria Galicia’s 11-month-old daughter began tugging at her ear earlier this week, Maria did what any responsible, caring parent would do, she had the child seen at the hospital for a possible ear infection. After an examination, it was discovered that the ear infection was the least of the child’s worries. She was found to be suffering from numerous injuries, including a skull fracture that runs from the top of her head to the back of her head, a broken arm, fractured leg and a burn on her arm from a hair straightener. All of the various injuries were in different stages of healing. Initially arrested on suspicion of child endangerment likely to produce great bodily harm or death, Maria posted $50,000 bail and was released shortly after her arrest on Monday. The 26-year-old was rearrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of aggravated assault and her bail was upped to $500,000. The child has been placed in protective custody and is expected to fully recover.…

Mom Busted For DUI After Daughter Calls 911

July 28, 2010 at 3:11 am by

Long Island, NY – Demonites, meet Jamie Hicks. Looks a bit miffed, doesn’t she? Could be because she got busted for driving under the influence, or it could be because her young daughter ratted her out for doing so. Maybe a combination of the two? According to police, Jamie’s 12-year-old daughter called 911 from the backseat of her mother’s Buick Sunday evening and reported that her mother was drunk. She’d been acting odd, talking funny and swerving in and out of traffic. The cell phone the girl was using cut out at one point, prompting the operator to call back several times. One call was answered and Jamie’s voice could be heard in the background, berating her daughter. From that call, officers were able to pinpoint the location of the car and make an arrest. The 12-year-old girl and her 10-year-old brother were handed over to family members. Jamie’s BAC was .18, more than twice the legal limit of .08. Charged under Leandra’s Law, she now faces felony charges for driving drunk with children under the age of 15 in the vehicle.…
