UPDATE 7/31/08 – Dan LeBlanc, Cara’s husband and father of the victim in this case, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child by withholding medical treatment. He was arraigned yesterday on the misdemeanor charge. Cara LeBlanc was flown back to New Hampshire last night and was arraigned today on charges of first degree assault and criminal restraint. She did not request bond and will remain in jail for the time being, although her attorney says there may be a bail request at a later time.

UPDATE 7/12/08 – Clarissa Pierce, 22, has been charged with felony child neglect for failure to seek medical help for her two year old son Nicholas for five days while the child suffered with second and third degree burns over 50% of his body. The burns were inflicted by John Cellner, Pierce’s boyfriend. Pierce is being held in the Ottawa County Jail on $150,000 bond.

UPDATE 7/8/08 – A source tells me that Gonsoulin’s girlfriend, Guadalupe Diaz, was not home on Thursday, July 3, when most of the abuse occurred. Diaz returned home, saw Cameron, and called 911. Charges may still be brought against Diaz, since investigation has determined that she had knowledge of the abuse in the days prior to Thursday. Charges are also likely against Richard D’Ginto, the neighbor who witnessed some of the abuse.

UPDATE 12/23/08 – Tyler McMillan’s autopsy report has finally been released, six months after his death. The 13-year-old died after a severe beating and hours tied to a tree as punishment. Tyler’s official cause of death is “dehydration and heat stroke”. His body temperature was 105.6, his wrists and ankles had restraint marks, and he was covered in bug bites. The boy also had chunks of flesh missing from his buttocks, and marks from being beaten with a rod-like object. His father and stepmother will be in court in January to face murder and child abuse charges.

BEREA, Ky. – Bobby Jones, 27, was with is two-year-old son in front of the trailer they lived in last Sunday. It was a hot, sunny day and Bobby let his sun play in the yard with no shirt on for about an hour and a half. The problem is that this Jones didn’t put any sunscreen on the kid and the toddler ended up getting 1st and 2nd degree burns that include some nasty blisters. When the mother picked him up, she alerted police. Now, Bobby Jones is in jail, charged with criminal abuse and served with an emergency protection order keeping him from seeing his son for 14 days.…

EASTON, Pa. – There are some parents that have good intentions but just aren’t good at it, and then there are some parents that aren’t fit to raise earthworms. Juan Ortiz, 32, and his wife Yanira Arias-Ortiz, 30 are two of those people.
Sometime in April, their 11 year old son got into some trouble for stealing a coin from another boy. Ortiz decided to teach his boy that stealing is bad with a flat, wooden piece of a railing. When the staff at Cheston Elementary School noticed his injuries, they reported it. Ortiz was charged on May 5th and released on $1,000 bail. One of the conditions of his release was that he was not allowed to live in the home with the child.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - When a friend of Elizabeth Thornton, 21, came over to their apartment, they found Elizabeth’s 2-year-old son, Constatine Alexander Washburn, lying unresponsive on the floor. He was taken to Charleston Hospital where he was found to be suffering from severe brain trauma. The injuries were too severe and the doctors were unable to save Alex.
