10/10/08 – Update – Minerva Lopez and Porfirio Olivas-Lopez waived their rights to preliminary hearings during a court appearance on 10/9/08.  They stood mute on the collective charges against them, prompting the court to enter “not guilty” pleas on their behalf. Additional charges may be filed.

DENVER – Tistan Price, 23, told police that on Friday morning, he went to wake up his step-daughter, 4-year-old Tamyrill Randall. She would not respond. He shook her and tried to wake her by putting her in the shower, but she would not wake up. Tristan called 911, and the little girl was pronounced dead at the hospital. The cause of death? “Multiple injuries located in the torso region, which included eight broken ribs and a liver that was almost ripped in half.”…

Lusby, MD – Renee Bowman, 43, had three daughters, all adopted. Now she has one daughter and two frozen corpses. And if you ask me, I think she was hoping to go 3-for-3 on the corpses. Bowman’s youngest child, a seven year old girl, was found horribly abused on Friday night after she jumped from a window in the home while Bowman was away. On Saturday, police found the remains of the girl’s older sisters, ages nine and eleven, in the basement freezer. On Friday night, the little 7-year-old managed to escape her nightmare of Mommy Hell when Bowman left the home and went to the District of Columbia. She had locked the child in a bedroom while she was gone, and the little girl managed to jump out a window. She was walking from door to door wearing nothing but a t-shirt soaked in blood and fecal matter when a neighbor saw the child, gave her some clothes, and called 911.…

UPDATE 9/26/08 – Jennifer Spoerl has been arrested and charged with one count of “unlawful conduct toward a child” in connection with an incident that happened the day before her son Blaise’s murder. On Sunday, September 14, Jennifer and Justin Hillerby took Blaise to the neighborhood pool, where witnesses say the couple argued and drank alcohol while Blaise kept falling into the pool. Several times, the baby had to be rescued by other swimmers. Jennifer Spoerl is out on $20,000 surety bond.

Blue Springs, MO – J.B. died on Friday, September 12 – but it took almost two weeks for his mother and her boyfriend to kill him. The one-year-old’s slow death was probably caused by sepsis or internal trauma. After a Labor Day beating, J.B.’s arm was broken and his tongue was split nearly in two.  Kimberly Helmes, 21, and Kyle Cooper, 25, decided not to take J.B. to the hospital.  Instead, they tried to stitch his tongue back together with a needle and thread. …

Tucson, AZ - A 9-year-old boy, whose name is being withheld, was found last Saturday locked in a bedroom closet surrounded by feces and urine. He was severely malnourished, weighing only 48 pounds and looked “pale†according to the arresting deputy.
