Man Accused Of Using Box Cutter To Carve Pentagram In Son’s Back

RICHLAND HILLS, TX – A father has been accused of using a box cutter to carve a pentagram in his 6-year-old son’s back, telling a 911 operator he did so because it was a holy day.
Police arrested 39-year-old Brent Troy Bartel yesterday after he called 911 and calmly told the dispatcher he had “shed innocent blood.” At the same time, the child’s mother had ran next door to a neighbor’s for help, saying that Bartel was hurting their son.
When police arrived, they found Bartel alone in the home with his son, who was clad in only pajama bottoms and sporting a bloody pentagram that his father had carved into his back with a box cutter. They also found the child’s blood smeared on the sides and the top of the home’s door frame.
“I would say his demeanor was very flat. There were no indications that he was under the influence of any drugs,” Richland Hills police Sgt. Nathan Stringer said about Bartel.
The boy was transported to Cook Children’s Medical Center, where he underwent treatment for the pentagram that covered the majority of his back.…

ANOKA, MN - A judge sentenced a man to 120 days in jail for doling out a particularly humiliating punishment on his 12-year-old stepdaughter.
Back in May we reported on 38-year-old Stephanie Ann Broten and her boyfriend, 34-year-old Darnell Alan Landrum. In response to Broten’s 12-year-old daughter bringing home bad grades, the couple shaved her head and put her in a diaper before sending her outside in front of neighbors and classmates.
One of these neighbors ended up calling police who arrived to find a crowd of 30 to 50 people watching the poor girl crying hysterically as she tried to get back in her house after being forced to run up and down the street with a shaved head and clad in a diaper and a tank top.
Neighbors said she had been outside for at least 30 minutes and reported seeing the girl standing outside the back door begging her mother to let her in, only to have her mother stare back at her. When police questioned Broten, she told them she did not see what the problem was and that she was simply disciplining her child by embarrassing her.…

Boston, MA – After two weeks on the run, a couple wanted by police for the alleged beating and burning of a 3-year-old boy have been apprehended at a Florida theme park.
Earlier this month, arrest warrants were issued for 23-year-old Jessica Linscott and 27-year-old Roland Dow, after Linscott’s 3-year-old son was dropped of at Exeter Hospital suffering from head trauma and burns to his arms.
The couple stated that his injuries were self-inflicted, but doctor’s determined the boy had been abused and contacted police. Authorities gave the couple the option of turning themselves in, but they took the opportunity to go on the run.
It took investigators two weeks, but after countless hours searching combined with tips from the community, the couple were finally located at Universal Studios in Orlando. Marshals spent all day Wednesday in the park searching for the couple, finally finding them at the end of the day just as they had finished watching a parade.
Linscott and Dow were booked into the Orange County Jail, and are being held pending their arraignment on fugitive from justice charges in Florida.…

New Port Richey, FL — A man in Florida is in jail after police say he twisted a toddler’s nipples so hard that they came off.
According to police, Thomas Matheson, 27, was caring for the boy last Friday evening while the child’s mother worked.
At some point that night, Matheson allegedly gave the kid a massive titty-twister – twisting and pulling so hard, police say, “the skin covering the nipples was removed.”
The child apparently ran around nipple-less for days and it wasn’t until Tuesday that his grandma finally noticed the injury and called authorities.
The kid was taken to Morton Plant North Bay Hospital, where doctors there determined that the removal of the toddler’s nipples was due to trauma. They also say it is unlikely the boy’s nipples will ever grow back.
Matheson later told police he wasn’t even aware the child had been hurt, even though the boy had been running around shirtless the evening of the alleged assault. No word on why mom didn’t notice the kid was missing his nipples.…

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA – A “mother” in Virginia is behind bars after her baby was found alone inside a motel room in an upside down car seat.
Police responded to a Motel 6 around 11 p.m. Monday after receiving a call from the motel regarding a baby that would not stop crying inside one of the rooms.
“When the deputies opened the door, they found a 7 to 8 month old baby girl, strapped in a child restraint seat, now the seat was upside down on the bed, which obviously caused the baby to scream, was in some discomfort,” Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Bill Kennedy said. “When they turned the baby over, they found bruising and scrapes consistent with the restraints of the child safety seat.”
Aside from a crying baby upside down in a car seat, deputies also found a crack pipe sitting on a nightstand. What they did not find was the baby girl’s mother, 34-year-old Christine Clark. The infant was transported to the hospital where the girl was found to have cocaine in her system.…

Tulsa, OK — A man in Oklahoma was arrested and charged with child neglect in what Tulsa police call one of the worse cases of child abuse they have ever seen.
Police were called to the home of 47-year-old William Lewallen by a neighbor who had found a 4-year-old boy naked and locked outside in 40 degree weather. Inside the residence, the officers also discovered a 16-month-old girl covered in feces and locked inside a dog crate. A third naked child was found in bed with their passed out father.
Mr. Lewallen’s neighbors told investigators they heard a child crying Sunday night and went to investigate. The two men walked through a wooded area behind Lewallen’s home and discovered someone had thrown out a perfectly good white boy. According to the neighbor, they saw a naked 4-year-old boy in Lewallen’s backyard crying, “Daddy, let me in! I’m cold!”
The men gave the boy a jacket and knocked on Lewallen’s door but, when no one answered, one of the men took the boy home and called police. ”When officers arrived, they spoke with the neighbor and investigated further,” said Officer Leland Ashley of Tulsa PD. “As they approached the house, they could hear screaming and crying coming from inside.”
When officers looked through a small window, they saw a naked toddler locked inside a metal dog crate. With nobody answering the door, they broke into the home and were “immediately hit with the overwhelming stench of feces,” according to Officer Ashley. Police removed the 16-month-old girl from her cage and discovered she was partly responsible for the smell,as she was covered in her own filth.…

Phoenix, AZ – An Arizona mother of five has been charged with child abuse after she took her 6-year-old daughter to a McDonald’s for ice cream, and then abandoned her there.
Police say 23-year-old Lucy Parra took her daughter, Everlyn, to a Mcdonald’s Wednesday evening so the girl could go in and purchase an ice cream. When the girl returned to the parking lot, she could not find her mother and her mother’s car was nowhere to be found.
McDonald’s employees say the girl was visibly upset over having been abandoned and that they ended up calling police after 15 minutes of searching for Parra. While waiting for police, McDonald’s employees said they fed the girl in the office and tried comforting her. “She was really hungry. She said she had not ate all day since school lunch,” the employee said.
Officers were still on the scene when Parra came back to the restaurant 40 minutes later. Employees say she appeared intoxicated, claiming she never left the parking lot. The employee says that’s bullshit, as there were only four cars in the lot when they were out looking for her.…

NEWBURYPORT, MA - Police have arrested a teen mother after they say she poisoned another teen mother’s infant while they both stayed at a home for teenage mothers.
The teens, both under the age of 17, had been staying at the home for little over a year when one of their infants became ill. The baby, less than a year old, was rushed to the hospital where it was learned that he had ingested a poisonous substance.
The boy was treated and released, but an investigation would later reveal that the infant had ingested baby formula tainted with a household cleaning product, and that another teen mother staying at the home had placed the substance in the formula earlier in the week.
Before it was learned how the boy was poisoned, and who was responsible, the accused teen had run away from the home. She was later found and arrested on a warrant issued for her running away, then charged with attempted poisoning the next day.
She is currently in jail without bond and will appear in juvenile court next week.…

Houston, TX – Police have arrested a woman in Texas after they say she beat her little sister with an extension cord before knocking her unconscious during a fight over Cheetos.
After a 10-year-old girl showed up to school with suspicious bruises and a bump on her head, school counselors contacted CPS and informed them that this was not the first time the girl had come to school with injuries. When inquired about her injuries, the girl told police they were from her older sister, 23-year-old Deby Mejia.
She said Mejia had gotten angry when she returned home and found the girl snacking on some Cheetos she had purchased from a neighbor. Mejia allegedly responded by whipping the girl with an extension cord, then knocked the girl unconscious by grabbing her by the hair and banging her head on the floor. Mejia told police she’s been raising her 10-year-old sister ever since their mother was deported to Honduras in 2006, and resents the child ever being born. She added that she does not love her sister, hates she was forced to care for her, and had no remorse over what she had done.…

A woman in North Carolina has been charged with felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury and mental emotional injury after she became so enraged over her 9-month-old daughter’s crying, that she poured boiling water on her.
Police say that 33-year-old Michelle Julia Woodhouse-Deboyes became angry with her daughter’s crying that she flipped the girl’s bouncy seat over with the baby still in it.
The resulting bruise to her daughter’s face did not her crying, so Woodhouse-Deboyes switched tactics. She went into the kitchen and filled a coffee mug with boiling water then poured the boiling water on top of her crying daughter. Still not getting the result she was looking for, Woodhouse-Deboyes flipped her daughter over and held her down in the hot water that had puddled on the floor.…

Buffalo, NY - A man has been found guilty of beating his 10-year-old stepson to death with a rolling pin after arguing with the boy about homework.
Prosecutors say that on April 17, 10-year-old Abdifatah Mohamud climbed out a window of his home and ran down the street. A neighbor driving by saw the boy running with his stepfather, 41-year-old Mohamed Mohamud, chasing after him. She pulled over and gave Mohamud a ride so he could catch up to his stepson.
After catching up to the boy, Abdi told the woman he did not want to go back home with his stepfather, but Mohamud pulled Abdi into the vehicle and the neighbor took them back home. The neighbor said she stood at the entrance and asked Abdi if he wanted to come study at her house, but Mohamud told her he wasn’t going to do anything to the boy and she could leave.
According to Mohamud, Abdi would not stop trying to flee the house after the neighbor left, so he used electrical cord to tie him to a chair in the basement.…

Havelock, NC – A 30-year-old woman in North Carolina was arrested after it was discovered she gave her 11-year-old daughter a heart tattoo on her shoulder.
Odessa Clay was charged in late September with tattooing a person under the age of 18 after police learned of the tattoo. Clay admitted to giving her daughter the tattoo late last year because she says, ”she asked me to do it.”
Clay, who sports quite a few tattoos of her own, as evident by her mugshot, was unapologetic when describing ho she used her own tools and numbed her daughter’s arm before placing the permanent heart on her pre-teen daughter’s shoulder. But it’s not like she was a complete moron. “I didn’t fill it in,” she said.
Clay says she thought tattoos were like like ear-piercings in that they were perfectly legal for 11-year-olds as long as the parent gave consent. She also stopped breathing through her mouth long enough to add that she believes her ex in-law reported the tattoo in retaliation after she filed a complaint against her daughter’s paternal grandfather.…

Toulon, IL – A teen mother in Illinois has been accused of leaving her infant alongside a rural road where she remained for twelve hours after the mother told police her baby had been abducted.
Last Thursday, an Amber Alert was issued for 3-week-old Mia Graci Thompson. Her mother, 19-year-old Kendra Meaker, told police that she had left Mia and her 11-month old sister in the car while she walked into a Toulon post office to mail a package. She informed them that it wasn’t until she had already driven away that she noticed Mia was missing.
Sheriff Jimmie Dison said he figured Meaker’s story was bullshit from the beginning, but with no evidence to the contrary, he didn’t have any choice but to request an Amber Alert. It wasn’t until twelve hours later that Meaker finally told the truth and admitted that she drove outside Toulon that morning and placed her daughter on the side of a rural road.

SAN DIEGO – Zewoinesh Badasso, the mother accused of intentionally throwing her 7-month-old son out a 3rd-floor window, was in court on Wednesday, where she pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and assault on a child.
As you may recall, passersby found the boy–being referred to as “David N.” in court records–on the ground in an alley near the building out of which he was allegedly thrown. CPR was administered and he was rushed to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The evidence gathered at the scene and the results of questioning Badasso led police to place her under arrest.
Here’s what seems to be known about Zewoinesh Badasso at this time: The 33-year-old (or 32-year-old, depending on your source) came to the U.S. from Ethiopia around 12 years ago thanks to a sponsorship by some unnamed Catholic charity. Even so, she apparently has not developed a good grasp of English, since an interpreter was present with her at Wednesday’s hearing. She had been in San Diego for only a very brief time and did not know the three men with whom she and her son shared the apartment since she had been placed there.…

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A man charged with the murder of a 3-year-old girl has admitted to beating the girl to death because she had soiled herself.
Last Tuesday, police were called to a home where they found 21-year-old Jose Cruz hysterical and his girlfriend in a bedroom with her 3-year-old daughter, Carmen. Police say the girl was not breathing and was “covered in bruises from head to toe.” She was rushed to the hospital and placed on a ventilator, but Carmen was pronounced dead on Wednesday. A medical evaluation determined the girl’s bruises were the result of beings struck with a flexible object, and that she had blunt force trauma to the abdominal area.
Cruz, who was initially arrested on preliminary charges of attempted murder, told investigators that he became upset over the fact that Carmen had soiled herself. In response, he says he beat Carmen with a brown leather belt, shook her, pulled her hair and threw her into a television. Police would later retrieve a brown leather belt from the home as well as a black power cord.…

WEST HAVEN, CT – Police in Connecticut have arrested a man after they say he bit his girlfriend’s 5-year-old child as a form of discipline.
Brian Keil, 25, was watching his girlfriend’s two children, ages 5 and 8-years-old, when the siblings got into the fight over a toy. In response to the 5-year-old biting the 8-year-old, Keil figured he would teach the younger child a lesson — and bit the child on the arm.
I often bite unattended children in the mall, but that is purely for fun. The act of biting a child as a form of punishment for biting is just stupid. It does nothing to prevent the child from doing it in the future and can even make the situation worse. It’s also illegal.
If Keil didn’t know this beforehand, he found out when the children’s father arrived to pick them up. When he learned what Keil did to his child, and saw the mark on the child’s arm, he immediately took the 5-year-old to the police station and showed the cops the very visible bite mark Keil had left.…

HOUSTON, TX – A woman is behind bars after hidden surveillance camera captured her abusing and repeatedly suffocating the baby she had been hired to care for.
The parents of a 4-month-old girl say they hired 48-year-old Tirza Magana before their baby was born and that she had been working for them for five months until May. That’s when they decided to install a nanny cam after noticing their daughter was acting strange and lethargic. After just one day of filming, the parents reviewed the footage and were horrified at what the it had captured.
According to court documents, the video footage shows Magana placing her hands over their child’s nose and mouth while applying pressure, causing the baby to “flail about, struggling to breathe.” She does this four times over a fifteen minute period and can even be seen switching her grip. She is also seen “holding the baby up by her head as the child’s dangling body made jerking movements.”
The parents immediately fired Magana and called police. Magana was ultimately arrested and charged with endangering a child and is in jail on a $10000 bond.…

Houston, TX – Back in May, 23-year-old Matthew Carrillo and 21-year-old Melanie Garcia were both charged with injury to a child after Garcia’s 4-year-old daughter was taken to the hospital in critical condition, suffering from a head injury, bruises all over her body (including her genitals) and a burn on her thigh.
Garcia initially told 911 that her daughter, Kayla, had fallen out of her wagon and hit her head. It wasn’t until after the couple were charged and the little girl died that Garcia changed her story.
She says that her boyfriend was angry at Kayla because of a slow walk home from a Subway where a meatball had fallen of the girl’s sandwich. Once back at the home, Garcia says that Carrillo disciplined the girl by making her pull down her pants and instructing her to brace herself against a couch. When Kayla fell to the floor from Carrillo striking her with a belt, he allegedly picked Kayla up by one arm and beat her with the belt as she dangled in front of him.…

ST. LOUIS, MO – The woman who recorded a fight between two toddlers, then posted the video to her Facebook, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Earlier this month, 21-year-old Latonya Davis recorded a video of her 2-year-old daughter fighting with a 3-year-old boy she was babysitting. In the video, Davis can be heard laughing while the children cry hysterically as they strike each other at Latonya Davis’ instructions.
“Got some action! Got some action!” Davis can be heard yelling as she records. “Y’all better ball up some fists!”
Obviously thinking that this was perfectly acceptable, Davis then posted the video to Facebook to share with birds of a feather. But she found out pretty quickly that while this may be hilarious in certain circles, not everyone found it amusing.
“It’s like she’s training her before she starts school or something,” said an acquaintance of Davis. “It’s sad because today’s society in the black community its really sickening that these kids are learning how to fight, get guns and stuff, and it shouldn’t be going on.”
In the probable cause statement, a law enforcement officer states:
“I believe that the defendant poses a danger to a crime victim, the community, or any other person because defendant took obvious pleasure and amusement in causing a three and a half year old child and a two and a half year old to engage each other in a physical fight.…

DALLAS, TX – Elizabeth Escalona has pleaded guilty to gluing her 2-year-old daughter’s hands to a wall before beating her into a coma.
The 23-year-old was arrested back in 2011 after calling her mother and telling her something was wrong with her daughter, Jocelyn Cedillo. When the grandmother arrived at the home, she found the little girl unresponsive.
Jocelyn was rushed to the hospital where she remained in a coma for two days suffering from broken bones, brain swelling, swollen intestines, bruised lungs and an injured liver. Paint was also stuck to the girl’s palms, with skin torn away in places.
Police records show that the toddler’s siblings told investigators that Escalona was upset with her daughter for soiling herself and glued her hands to a wall. She also repeatedly kicked young Jocelyn in the stomach and beat her with a jug of milk, a belt and a shoe.
