Daly City, CA – Back in 2011, we reported on 39-year-old Jesusa Tatad, the woman who poured boiling water on her sleeping ex-husband and then whacked him with a baseball bat. On Wednesday, Tatad pleaded guilty to second-degree murder after the man died from his injuries.
Tatad and her ex-husband, 36-year-old Ronnie Tatad, were still living together in 2011 after their divorce three years prior. Tatad said Ronnie had promised to re-marry her and bring their two daughters, aged 9 and 14, back from the Philippines to live with them.
But the years passed and Ronnie never re-married her and he never brought their children home. To add insult to injury, Ronnie had gotten himself a girlfriend. In retaliation, Tatad waited for Ronnie to fall asleep, then dumped a pot of boiling water on him. When Ronnie jumped up and ran to the bathroom, Tatad whacked him in the head with a baseball bat.
Ronnie ran from the apartment half-naked, and was found hiding behind a car by a maintenance worker who called 911.…Continue Reading
But since I suffer for you guys (some say just like Jesus), I will write another child abuse story today, a subject I like least of all. (*hears waaay too many tiny violins playing*)
A woman in North Carolina has been charged with felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury and mental emotional injury after she became so enraged over her 9-month-old daughter’s crying, that she poured boiling water on her.
Police say that 33-year-old Michelle Julia Woodhouse-Deboyes became angry with her daughter’s crying that she flipped the girl’s bouncy seat over with the baby still in it.
The resulting bruise to her daughter’s face did not her crying, so Woodhouse-Deboyes switched tactics. She went into the kitchen and filled a coffee mug with boiling water then poured the boiling water on top of her crying daughter. Still not getting the result she was looking for, Woodhouse-Deboyes flipped her daughter over and held her down in the hot water that had puddled on the floor.…Continue Reading
ROCKFORD, IL – As my co-workers can attest to, I do not iron. That’s what a wife is for. Or sometimes in my case, a dryer. It’s not that I don’t own one, as I love my grilled cheese sandwiches. I just don’t own an ironing board. I waved bye to it as my ex drove away in a U-haul packed with other things she owned that I paid for.
But I can honestly say that I if I did need an impromptu ironing board in the face of some kind of emergency, the last thing I would have ever thought of using would be a sleeping child’s back. A foot stool or wheel chock? Sure. But not an ironing board. Inexplicably, 43-year-old Elliot Moore didn’t have that same line of thinking when he used the back of an 18-month-old girl to iron a shirt.
Back in 2010, Moore was watching a woman’s two young children while she was at school. Because the 18-month-old was sleeping on his lap, Moore was experiencing difficulties ironing his work shirt.…Continue Reading
Daly City, CA - A woman in California has been charged with torture after she allegedly poured boiling water on her sleeping ex-husband and then whacking him with a baseball bat.
Police say 39-year-old Jesusa Ursonal Tatad and her ex-husband lived together until last month when Tatad reportedly became a tad upset after learning her ex had a new girlfriend. Prosecutors say she waited for the man to return home from a late shift, then dumped a pot of boiling water on him as he slept.
When the poor guy jumped up in excrutiating pain and ran to the bathroom, his psycho ex was waiting for him there wielding a baseball bat. After she clubbed him in the head, the man made it out of the home and flagged down someone who called police.
The man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, suffering from second- and third-degree burns to over 60 percent of his body. Because of his injuries, the man was unable to speak but according to San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe, he is expected to survive but ‘he’s in for a long, long recovery.’
Tatad is facing life in prison if convicted on charges of aggravated mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence as well as torture.…Continue Reading
DETROIT, MI – Two years ago I posted about Sharon Hinojosa, the 29-year-old woman accused of intentionally setting fire to her mobile home with her two children inside, killing them both. Earlier this month she was convicted of first-degree murder in the deaths of Anthony, 4, and Alayna, 3. Yesterday she was sentenced to life in prison.
For those of you who missed this, back in October 2009, Hinojosa escaped from the blazing mobile home she shared with her boyfriend, clutching the couple’s 1-year-old. She left her two children from a different man inside the trailer and they would die screaming in the flames.
Her actions on the night of the fire immediately drew suspicion. She didn’t scream for help until the fire was well underway, and one neighbor said she didn’t mention her other two kids until asked. Even after informing would-be rescuers her two children were inside, she wouldn’t provide specific details as to where they were in the mobile home they may be. Neighbors tried their best to rescue the two children who were still alive as the trailer went up in flames.…Continue Reading
WYOMING, Mich. - Police need help finding out who brutally beat a woman before setting her on fire.
Lori A. Lee, 38, was found on Sunday morning knocking on doors looking for help. Not only had she been so severely beaten that her face was unrecognizable, but police say whoever was responsible also set Lee on fire.
Police think that she had been left for dead, but somehow Lee managed to make her way to a home and ask for help. She’s currently in the hospital in serious condition with severe head trauma, an eye injury and burns over one-third of her body.
Because of being under heavy sedation, she has not been able to communicate with police and tell them what happened. Lee, who lives a transient lifestyle while looking for work, was only identified by her fingerprints.
“We haven’t seen something as insidious and gruesome as this. That’s a whole different type of criminal element who would do something like this to a human being,” said Wyoming police Chief James Carmody .…Continue Reading
KANSAS CITY, MO — A woman has been charged with three felonies after police say she threw gas on her boyfriend and then lit his ass on fire.
According to police, 44-year-old Tonya M. Green and Charles Adams, her boyfriend of three years, were arguing when Green tossed gasoline on him and another woman. After setting him on fire, she turned to the other woman who immediately ran away.
Poor Adams suffered third-degree burns over 56 percent of his body and had to be placed in a medically-induced coma for nearly a month. When he woke up, he had no recollection of what had happened to him. Luckily the other woman who had been with him did, and identified Green to police.
Green was arrested on Thursday and charged with two counts of first-degree assault and one count of armed criminal action. She refused to talk to detectives. Her family says that Adams beat on her and that she was only acting out of self-defense.
“When you mistreat someone like that continuously, that grin can turn into something else.…Continue Reading
Seminole, FL – Investigators said Joseph P. Williamson, 31, found the gas lid open on his girlfriend’s 1997 Saturn which was parked outside their home. He reportedly became concerned the vehicle had been tampered with and decided to check the gas tank for sugar. Luckily a leaf blower was available to accelerate the task.
Witnesses said Williamson was attempting to siphon gas with an electric leaf blower when a spark from the blower ignited the fire, the investigator’s report said.
Williamson suffered serious burns to his arms and had to be taken to Tampa General Hospital. He remained hospitalized at last report. The car suffered serious burns, as well.
Media outlets have reported that the suspected fuel tampering may have been due to an ‘ongoing rivalry between tree trimming businesses.’ Apparently, while competing organized crime bosses are contracting hits on each other’s soldiers while battling for mob family control of prostitution, illegal gambling, and the distribution of stolen goods, the “war of the trees” is being fought with sugar in the gas tank of girlfriends’ Saturns.…Continue Reading
According to court documents, at around 3 a.m., 54-year-old Curtis Reed got into an altercation with his girlfriend of eight years. He was angry that she wouldn’t let him have any alcohol so he threw a frozen chicken at her before going after her with a frying pan and a knife. Luckily, Antoine Willis, the woman’s teen son, was able to wrestle Reed to the ground and hold him there while two of his friends punched Reed.
After being let up, Reed reportedly walked around the house informing everyone that they better not fall asleep. So the mom, her son and his girlfriend all tried staying awake by playing video games, but around 5 a.m. they all fell asleep.
A couple hours later, Willis woke up to the smell of something cooking and realized pretty quickly that it was his head. Reed had doused it with lighter fluid and then turned him into a screaming matchstick.…Continue Reading
The incident happened at Ozona Blue when knuckle-head waiter Ian Monsalvo was preparing a double-order of the dessert. He was using a bottle of really flammable (151 proof) rum to impress his guests with a flare-up from the already burning dessert.
It’s common knowledge that liquor used in flambe recipes should not be poured straight from the liquor bottle so flames can’t travel back into the bottle and fuel the fire. This, as any amateur pyromaniac will tell you, is a pretty goddamn stupid way to make a Molotov Cocktail.
When the fire shot back up into the bottle and, according to witnesses, created ‘an explosion of fire,’ a surprised Monsalvo drew back the bottle, spraying customers at the table with a sugary, napalm blast. Luckily Nick Salzer, a cook at the restaurant, had just completed his fire/ems certification and was able to assist the woman who took the worst of it.
Katie Hudgins, a 25-year-old elementary school teacher, was seated the closest to the waiter and ended up with the worst injuries after her clothing caught on fire.…Continue Reading
Coroner Michael Baker said Ella D. Miller, 32, died Wednesday morning after suffering severe thermal burns. She got the burns on Monday morning while doing the laundry.
As most of you know, the make good portable fireplaces, but they do not use the Devil’s technology, so after using her octopus dishwasher and scrubbing the floors with her porcupine brush, Miller started doing her laundry by heating some water in a large metal kettle with a wood fire underneath it.
In order to speed things along, her husband says she tried putting kerosene on the fire. The result was an explosion that caught her clothes on fire resulting in the poor woman being burned over almost her entire body. If that weren’t bad enough, she was not taken to the doctor. Friends and family attempt home remedies until she finally (mercifully) passed away on Wednesday.
Police are investigating the incident, but Baker syas there are no signs of foul play.…Continue Reading
Chicago – A woman has been charged with pouring boiling water over a 74-year-old woman’s head after inviting the senior over for dinner.
Police say that on Saturday, the older woman had been invited over to dinner by her friend and neighbor, 51-year-old Lynn Baggett. While the victim lay on the couch, police say Baggett began heating up a pot of liquid on the stove.
Once the liquid was brought to boiling, Baggett removed the pot, walked over where her friend was laying, and poured the scalding liquid over her head. The poor woman was able to get into the wheelchair she uses ever since breaking both feet in a car crash, and wheel herself to the lobby where she asked for someone to call 911.
Emergency workers arrived and took her to the hospital in serious condition, suffering from second-degree burns to her face, forehead, scalp, neck, back and shoulders.
No motive has been given for the attack, but it was revealed in court that Baggett has been taking medication for bipolar disorder and depression.…Continue Reading
PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. – More fun in South Carolina as a a couple were arrested for burning a boy with a kerosene heater as punishment for wetting the bed.
On valentine’s Day an observant relative of a 5-year-old boy noticed some burns on his hands and asked how he got them. He told them his mother’s boyfriend, 31-year-old Ernesto Sanchez, had placed his hands on a kerosene heater as punishment for wetting the bed. This was done in front of his two older brothers as well as his mother, 24-year-old Melinda Roxanne Ramey, who did nothing to stop it.
The boy suffered several large burns that will result in scarring or permanent disfigurement. But the real damage isn’t just the physical kind according to Assistant Sheriff Tim Morgan. “That does irreparable mental damage to the child as well,” said Morgan. “It makes one angry to hear that type of thing.”
Police have charged Sanchez is being held on a $25,000 bail, charged with abuse to inflict great bodily injury upon a child.…Continue Reading
COVINGTON, KY – A mother has been charged after waking up from a drug-induced stupor to find her 9-month-old dead from severe burns.
Police say 26-year-old Megin Gray took Xanax, Percocet and drank alcohol before going to bed on Monday night. When she woke up on Tuesday at around 11 a.m., she found her infant daughter on the floor and on top of a baseboard heater.
She rushed her to the hospital, but the baby had already died from her severe burns from head to toe on the left side of her body. Gray, a mother of three other children, was arrested that same day and charged with second-degree criminal abuse. Depending on the results of the autopsy, those charges may be upgraded.
What an absolutely senseless death. It’s one of those deaths that if you really let yourself think about the torture that infant must have went through, it’ll almost drive you insane.…Continue Reading
COLUMBUS, Ohio — A mother is facing child abuse charges after being accused of beating and burning her young son, as well as keeping him locked up in a tiny linen closet.
Police say 23-year-old Fairrin Moss would lock her 3-year-old son in a closet that measured 12 inches by 24 inches for hours while she left the house. Moss was arrested last month and charged with assault and child endangerment after the boy’s aunt found him locked inside the closet.
She took him out and began removing his clothing to give him a bath and discovered her nephew was sporting a slew of visible injuries on his body. Luckily the woman did the right thing and took him to the hospital where staff found the boy had been over the head, in the head, in the stomach, on the side, legs, grabbed by the neck and had severe burns on his foot. Investigators say it looked like it had been submerged in boiling water.
The boy is expected to recover, at least physically, and has since been placed in a foster home.…Continue Reading
FORT WORTH, Texas — Before I go any further, let me go ahead and warn you that the video at the bottom of this article is pretty graphic and that I posted this purely as an excuse to show a man with no face. If you wanna argue politics, go for it, but that’s not the purpose of the article.
The purpose was to simply show the injuries suffered by 25-year-old Dallas C. Wiens after his face was literally burned off of his skull, and the fact that he’s a true badass.
Two years ago he was painting a church when he accidentally hit a power line that caused burns so severe he was left blind and without lips, teeth or a nose. After multiple surgeries in which doctors were able to use skin and muscle from his back and thighs to cover up the exposed portions of his skull, Wiens was left without any working facial features aside from his lipless mouth.
But now because of the new federal healthcare law that allows people up to age 26 to be covered by their parent’s insurance, he has become eligible for a full face transplant and possibly the third American to ever undergo such a surgery.…Continue Reading
LENOX TOWNSHIP, Mich. — As many as 40 people were gathered around a fire pit in a common area of a Michigan trailer park last Sunday when 40-year-old Majd Mohammad Al-Shara decided the flames were not big enough. He doused the metal fire pit with some kind of accelerant, and the resulting explosion caught his 6-year-old daughter’s clothes on fire. Witnesses immediately tried to put out the girl using anything they could find to try and smother the flames. “She was in flames and I tried to jump on top of her, and my friend came over with a blanket. There was a hose on the ground. I grabbed the hose and started to hose down her legs,” one man said. They also reported Al-Shara, who suffered non-life-threatening burns to his hands and arms, tried consoling his screaming daughter who suffered burns to 90% of her body. She would die on Wednesday. Al-Shara was already charged with second-degree child abuse, but Sheriff Mark Hackel stated they will be recommending homicide charges.…Continue Reading
LAS CRUCES, NM - What began as witnesses calling in to report that a naked man with his leg on fire was jumping in front of vehicles on US 70, ended with a 47-year-old in a Texas burn unit after losing a drinking bet with his buddies. The man told police that he and his friends were drinking on Monday when they all agreed that the person who drank the least would be set on fire. He ended up being the loser of that deal, only drinking six beers, so his friends set his prosthetic leg on fire. The flames went up his legs to his ass and lower back, causing the man to disrobe. Suffering from severe pain, the friends got nervous and dumped him off on the side of the road naked, his leg still on fire. When police asked the man if at any time did he ask his friends not to set him on fire, he replied “no, he lost the bet.” Fuckin’ A right, burned man from New Mexico, nothing worse than a stinking welcher.…Continue Reading
ORLANDO, Fla. - But not for reasons you might be expecting. The handsome fella to the left is 54-year-old Tyler Weisman. He is a registered sex offender who spent a year in jail for molesting an 11-year-old girl. On Thursday, Weisman found himself inside a crack-house after being lured there with hopes of scoring a prostitute. He turned down an offer from a crack-whore but stayed in the house after 42-year-old Albert Brooks, an ex-con, offered to go get him a “younger girl”. Of course Brooks was lying. He figured only an undercover cop would turn down a whore, so when he returned to the room, he did not have a younger girl as promised, but rather an aerosol can and a cigarette lighter. He used them to spray flames into Weisman’s face until Weisman admitted he was a cop. Weisman was able to escape only after being beat on the head, being robbed of $75, his hearing aids and eyeglasses. Brooks was later arrested and charged with false imprisonment, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and robbery with a weapon.…Continue Reading
Huron Township – This is one of the most horrifyingly callous stories I have written about in a while. I have read through about 15 different articles and got sicker the entire time. Sharon Hinojosa, 29, lived in a mobile home with her boyfriend Justin Whisler. Early Friday morning, the mobile home caught fire. Hinojosa was able to escape the blaze with the 1-year-old she shared with Whisler. Sadly, her two other children she had with another man, 4-year-old Anthony, and 3-year-old Alayna, perished in the flames — despite attempts by neighbors to rescue them. Now police have charged Hinojosa with setting the fire and purposely leaving her two children to burn alive. It is a heinous accusation and now that some details have come to light, coupled with the fact that she is now in the hospital after drinking rubbing alcohol, seem to have a lot of merit…Continue Reading
