UPDATE 8/30/08 – Heidi Dieball pleaded guilty on Friday to second-degree intentional murder and two counts of child abuse in connection with the death of toddler Andrew Haga. As part of the plea bargain, she admitted to intentionally beating the child to death. She will be sentenced October 24 and will likely serve about 19 years for her crimes. Details at the bottom of this article.
Wichita, KS (January 10, 2008) - Heidi Dieball, 24, has some serious furniture. On January 4, according to Heidi, her couch killed 19-month-old Andrew Haga. Andrew’s mother Athena Haga had left Andrew with Heidi, her roommate, overnight on January 3.
Early the next morning, Heidi called Athena to let her know that baby Andrew wasn’t breathing and reportedly asked, “What should I do?” Andrew’s mom flipped out and told Heidi to call 911. She may have added “dumbass”. I know I would have.

Honolulu - Matthew Higa, 23, was arrested for the murder of an infant just shy of being 2-years-old. Witnesses watched Higa, dressed in hospital scrubs, sling the boy by one arm over a pedestrian overpass to the busy freeway 30 feet below.

The married mother of three has now officially been charged with murder by a Clay County grand jury for shaking 4-month old Jacob Mattingly like a maraca. The 4-month-old died from injuries while she was watching the infant. She initially told police that her toddler had fell ont he baby, then later stated she hit the Jacob’s head on the wooden end of a changing table. Liberty, Mo – Melissa was charged with felony child endangerment after a 4-month-old boy she was baby-sitting suffered critical injuries, apparently from being shaken. Thompson, 36, was watching the baby at her home when she called the baby’s mother and stated that the infant was lifeless and “was not acting right”. Her husband called 911 when he came home from work. The infant was taken to Liberty Hospital, then airlifted to Children’s Mercy. Doctors called police after finding that the infant had head trauma, hemorrhaging and facial bruising.
Melissa first stated that she thought her son had fallen ont he baby, but later confessed to hitting the baby’s head on the wooden portion of a changing table. When asked if she had shaken the baby, she asked for an attorney.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — An 18-year-old teenager, Rebecca Woods, dropped a 2-year-old boy out of a second story window. Two boys stated that they witnessed the girl dangling the boy out of the window and laughing. They then state that she just let him go and it was by pure luck that they caught the child. The babysitter has a different, but no less stupid story. She told police that she dropped the boy out of the window so that the two boys could catch him. She did this because the 8-year-old and 9-year-old she was babysitting told her to. The toddler was not injured and Rebecca has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child. She was jailed on $25,000 bond.
