Gainesville, FL - Kevin Andrew Otwell nearly killed his girlfriend’s two-month-old baby boy last week.  On Monday, Kevin and his girlfriend took the baby to the hospital for what Otwell tried to say was a fall into the baby bathtub.   Except that the baby’s diaper had blood in it, and an “unidentified clear fluid”, and the baby’s skull was broken like a jigsaw puzzle.   Damn those baby-raping, infant-abusing bathtubs, huh? UPDATE 6/17/08 - The man who killed his two-year-old son is named Sergio Aguiar. The baby’s name is also Sergio, and he turned two in May. Aguiar and his wife, Frances Liliana Casian, are separated and baby Sergio was visiting his father. Turlock, CA, June 16, 2008 - Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night, a 27-year-old man stopped his pickup truck on the side of an unlit country road between Modesto and Turlock in California. The man then took a baby out of the vehicle, removed the infant from his car seat, and proceeded to beat and stomp the child to death. Witnesses were unable to stop the man, who was covered in the baby’s blood, until a Modesto police officer dropped in on the scene by helicopter. When it was readily apparent that the suspect was not going to stop killing the baby, the police officer shot and killed the suspect in hopes of saving the child. Read more

08/11/08 UPDATE: Prosecutors have announced in a court hearing today that they will seek the death penalty against Travis “T.J.” Mullis in the death of his three-month-old son Alijah on January 29, 2008.  The next hearing in this case is scheduled for September 19.

Galveston, Texas (January 29, 2008) - At about 9:00 AM local time this morning, Jesse Zaro and his wife were driving in Galveston near Seawall Boulevard and Ferry Road to go birdwatching. They stopped when they saw something that looked like a doll on the side of the road. Curious, Mr. Zaro got out of the car to see what the object was, and then “became ill, cried, and nearly collapsed.”
