BESSEMER, AL – Bessemer police have charged Cassie Townsend after the two-year-old she was caring for died from drinking a grape soda spiked with the woman’s methadone.
Police say that around 1 a.m. Saturday morning, Townsend rushed Demonie Hendon to the hospital after realizing the grape soda she spiked with methadone was missing and Hendon was acting sick.
For those of you unaware, methadone is a medication that reduces withdrawal symptoms in people addicted to heroin or other narcotic drugs. It allows the addict to get high without the associated drug addiction. Methadone is normally not supposed to leave the clinic from where it is dispensed.
By time Hendon was admitted to the hospital, he was unresponsive and placed on life support. Townsend, who is the boy’s aunt or godmother, bonded out of jail after initially being charged with chemical endangerment of a child that morning.
However, Hendon was taken off of life support on Monday, and Townsend was arrested again, charged with chemical endangerment resulting in death. Townsend is currently in the Jefferson County Jail on a $60,000 bond.…
MOBILE, AL – Police have arrested 38-year-old Hiawatha Robinson, accusing him of killing his 8-year-old daughter while engaged in the act of sodomy.
In September, Hiawayi Robinson was reported missing after leaving her father’s home to walk to her aunt’s and never arriving. In news reports at the time, Robinson can be seen with his ex-wife pleading with the public for help in finding his daughter.
Hiawayi would be found dead behind an abandoned building two days later. Now, two months later, police have charged Robinson with the girl’s death, claiming he killed her while he was sexually assaulting her.
Authorities arrested Robinson on Tuesday and charged him with first-degree sodomy and murder. In Alabama, the first degree sodomy charge means someone is accused of engaging in ‘deviant sexual intercourse’ with someone under the age of 12.
“Deviant sexual intercourse is defined in the law of the state of Alabama as sexual gratification involving the sexual organs of one person and the mouth or the anus of another person,” Rich said.…
Back in 2012, the daughter of Kristopher Speigner and Joy Lynn Speigner died after ingesting a dish washing detergent tablet. They did not call for help until the following morning because, according to police, they were “too high and too drunk” to do anything to save her.
Almost a year later, they were both arrested and charged with negligent homicide and ordered held on $6000 bond. They made bail, but failed to appear for their bench trial in September and a judge issued a warrant for their arrest.
“Last time we had a court date, we continued it, but they were still required to be here and they didn’t show up at that time,” explained ADA Jason Scully-Clemmons. “I felt it had to do with the fact they knew it was gonna be continued, and so that was not much of a big deal.…
ONEONTA, AL – A 10-year-old Boy Scout accidentally hanged himself with the rope he was using to earn a merit badge for knot tying.
A.J. Underwood was found by his mother hanging from the practice rope in his bedroom Friday night. She got him down and carried him outside screaming for help.
A neighbor performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but A.J. would be pronounced dead at St. Vincent’s Blount hospital a short time later. Investigators believe the boy’s death was a freak accident.
“We had been learning how to tie rope, tie knots in ropes in Boy Scouts,” said A.J.’s aunt, Dana Wiesman. “He came into the house and had unpacked his Boy Scout bag, and he went in his room and was apparently playing with the rope and slipped and got caught in it.”
A.J. was a student at Oneonta Elementary School and leaves behind three sisters and his mother. Wiseman said the family isn’t doing well, but that the outpouring of community support is helping them get through it minute by minute.…
That’s bad enough. But the kicker is that the girl had been sent to the bathroom as bait in a sting orchestrated by a teacher trying to catch the boy in the act.
First, here’s a bit of background. Teachers at Sparkman Middle School were having a lot of problems dealing with a 16-year-old boy at the school. The kid wasn’t demonstrating your standard juvenile hijinks; he was violent and sexually aggressive towards female students.
Here’s a quick rundown of some of the issues school administration has had with the teen, starting after a 2008 suspension for hitting a student:
Feb 2009 – Suspended for “sexual harassment.”
Apr 2009 – Received in-school suspension for disrespecting a teacher.
Sep 2009 – Suspended for trying to pay another student to beat up a girl
Oct 2009 – Banned from school bus for 10 days and given three days in-school suspension for telling off school bus driver.…
Police believe Jones killed his five children, between the ages of 1 and 8, then drove to Alabama where he dumped their bodies on a dirt road in a rural area. The kids had been reported missing by their mother on Sept. 3.
Jones was pulled over at a motor vehicle checkpoint in Smith County, Mississippi. He became agitated when a deputy questioned him about an odor of chemicals coming from his Cadillac Escalade. When the deputy searched Jones’ vehicle, he found chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine and some Spice.
Even worse, officers found what appeared to be bleach, muriatic acid, blood and possible body fluids inside the vehicle. A quick background check on Jones revealed he was wanted in South Carolina “regarding a welfare concern of his children,” who were on a national missing persons list.
It was at this point Jones admitted he’d killed his five children and led officers to their decomposed bodies along a logging road in Alabama.…
OZARK, AL – After a four day manhunt, police have captured 44-year-old David Pitts, the man accused of raping a woman and her 8-year-old daughter at knife-point.
Pitts was arrested at a Boynton Beach, Florida hospital without incident after the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that he was being treated there.
Four days earlier, Pitts fled from Ozark, Alabama after he was accused of raping a 30-year-old woman and her 8-year-old daughter. The woman said Pitts lived nearby, but was inside her home when she arrived with her daughter Thursday evening.
He reportedly abducted them at knife point and made the woman drive her car to a secluded location 10 miles away. He then raped the woman at gunpoint and made her daughter watch. After he was finished, he allegedly made the woman watch as he raped her little girl.
Pitts held the mother and daughter until the next morning, at which time he forced the woman to drive to a residential area where he jumped out and ran.…
FOSTERS, AL – Police say 19-year-old Marissa Williams asked a boy she met on Facebook to kill her aunt and uncle, not realizing the boy was actually her aunt who’d created the profile to spy on her.
According to court records, Williams’ aunt created the fake profile after Williams blocked her on Facebook. The teen did not like the fact that her aunt could see her online activities, activities that included asking random men she met to come to her aunt’s house.
To continue keeping tabs on her niece, the woman created a fake Facebook profile – Tre ‘Topdog’ Ellis – so that she could friend her and see what she was up to online. On the very first day that Williams interacted with Ellis, she asked him to come over and get drunk before offering up her poonani in exchange for a paid cell phone bill.
She later told Ellis she hated her family and wanted him to kidnap her. As the conversations continued, this plan got more detailed and included Ellis shooting her aunt and her aunt’s fiance in the bedroom, then shooting her cousin and the family dog on the way out.…
VALLEY GRANDE, AL – The couple who posted pictures on Facebook of their puppy hanging from the ceiling have been charged with animal cruelty.
Last November, 26-year-old Caroline Dunnam and 23-year-old Andrew Parrish posted a picture of a two-month-old puppy hanging from the ceiling by its neck with the caption: “My poor baby.” As you might expect, people were not too happy with the picture, but Dunnam said she didn’t give a shit what people thought about hanging a puppy by the neck with a rope.
She’s may be regretting it now, especially after the picture went viral and someone tipped off police to the Facebook post. The mixed-breed puppy was removed from the home and the couple have now been charged with animal cruelty.
“They decided that they were going to hang a dog from the ceiling by its neck. The poor dog was hanging from the ceiling with some kind of rope around its neck,” said District Attorney Michael Jackson. “What their motivation was, we don’t know at this point.…
This story is as sordid as it is unbelievable, if the entirety of the allegations are true. It’s a bit confusing, with a lot of characters, so I will start at the beginning. Brittney Wood was last seen on May 31, 2012 after leaving her home to visit her uncle, Donnie Holland. Supposedly, Brittney wanted to talk to her uncle about some sex abuse allegations. She hasn’t been seen or heard from since. Two days after being seen in a car with Brittney, Donnie committed suicide.
However, police were had already investigating Brittney’s family a month prior. That’s when Brittney’s uncle, Randall Scott Wood, contacted police to report some family sex abuse. Police say Brittney exchanged messages over Facebook with one of the alleged victims, Donnie’s 13-year-old daughter. The girl claims she was raped by her father along with two of Brittney’s uncles – Randall Scott Wood and Dustin Kent.…
HOOVER, AL – Hoover detectives say they arrested 82-year-old Sue Hutchison for trying to arrange for three of her relatives to be killed.
Police were first contacted on April 15th, and information was provided that suggested Hutchison was attempting to hire a hitman to off three of her relatives, allegedly over concerns about who might inherit her husband’s estate. Hutchison set up three meetings with a man she believed was a middle-man who knew a 3rd party who was willing and capable of carrying out the murders.
During one of the meetings, Hutchison insisted that they not use the word “killed” but instead should refer to what she wanted done as “eliminated”. Probably after scratching ‘iced’ and ‘whacked’ off her list as being too Sopranos. At two of the alleged meetings, money exchanged hands, along with some dry skin. On April 18th, Hutchison was taken into custody in the Lee Branch shopping center parking lot.
When interviewed, the old biddy admitted to detectives to orchestrating the plot. She believed the murders would be carried out on Wednesday night, and told police that she’d watched the local news Thursday morning to see if there was a story about the murders.…
BIRMINGHAM, AL – On Friday afternoon, 10-year-old Luke Bresette was killed at the Birmingham airport after a 300-plus pound flight status board fell on top of him and his family.
The freak accident happened in a newly refurbished section of the airport that just opened last week. In a pre-security area of the airport, a flight information panel fell on top of Heather Bresette and three of her children. The family of seven had been on their way to Kansas after a week long vacation in Florida.
It took approximately half-a-dozen people to lift the sign off the Bressetes, and about a dozen to keep it off of the family while emergency personnel administered aid. They were all rushed to the hospital, but Luke Bresette would be pronounced dead later that day.
Luke’s 5-year-old brother, Tyler, suffered a concussion. Luke’s 8-year-old brother, Sam, suffered a broken leg and nose. Heather suffered broken ankles and a crushed pelvis and is still in intensive care and unconscious.
If a story about a 10-year-old boy dying in an airport after vacationing with his family wasn’t bad enough, get this: According to the family’s priest, Heather doesn’t know about Luke.…
This here is 41-year-old Barry Scott Vick. Yes, 41… I didn’t stutter. This is what good, clean living gets ya.
Anyway, he’s currently being held on charges of domestic violence after allegedly slashing a younger relative with a razor blade.
According to police, there was some sort of altercation (duh) between Vick and Joshua Henderson, 30. No word on what the two were arguing about, but I’m guessing Henderson was trip-trapping the fuck out of Vick’s bridge. Or something.
At some point during that altercation, Vick apparently pulled a blade and got all slashy, cutting Henderson’s chest.
Both men were treated and the scene and transported to a local hospital for further treatment. Henderson was released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
Vick is being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail.
Oh, hey, guess what! We have a Bizarre Mugshot Photo thread in the forums!…
BALDWIN COUNTY, AL — Three teenagers in Alabama have been formally indicted on murder charges after one of their accomplices was accidentally shot and killed.
Three men, William “Nick” Hearn, Lonnie Davison, and Larry Dean Duncan, Jr., were camping with their families on Gravine Island when they heard someone breaking into nearby fishing cabins in the early morning hours on April 15. The men climbed into a boat and went to investigate, encountering Scott Byrd and Dylan Tyree, both 18, burglarizing a home owned by a man the men knew. The two teens were part of a foursome out burglarizing summer cabins.
When the two teens took off running, Hearn fired a warning shot into the ground away from the teens, as did Duncan. One of these shots accidentally struck 17-year-old Summer Moody in the head as she hid behind a bush with 18-year-old Daniel Parnell. Once the men realized Summer had been shot, the men called 911, administered aid, and rushed her to a nearby landing. Summer would live for 10 days before dying from her injuries.…
MOBILE, AL — A teen in Alabama has been accused of beating the crap out of his sister’s girlfriend after Thanksgiving dinner, because he did not approve of their relationship.
Even though 23-year-old Mallory Owens has had a rocky relationship with her girlfriend’s family, she told her mother they were trying to be nice and had invited her over to eat Thanksgiving dinner.
Alley Hawkins’s family were trying to accept her year long, homosexual relationship with Owens, but her brother wasn’t having it. Travis Hawkins Jr. had already assaulted Owens once before, when he knocked her upside the head with a pipe wrench. She was injured, but no charges were ever filed.
This latest run-in with Hawkins Jr. ended with Owens looking like she stopped a car with her face. It happened after dinner, just as Owens was leaving the family’s mobile home. That’s when her family says she was blindsided by Hawkins Jr., who delivered a series of punches to Owens’ face.
These punches resulted in Owens being taken to the hospital suffering from multiple skull fractures and crushed facial bones. …
Mobile, AL — A 40-year-old mother of two was gunned down in front of her home Saturday after she confronted a group of men in a car speeding through her neighborhood.
The dark gray or green Honda Civic or Altima with dark, tinted windows drove down Racine Avenue Saturday afternoon and almost hit Wendy Fisher’s dog as they sped past her home. Angry, Fisher yelled at the driver who stopped the car about 30 yards away.
Fisher’s teen daughter, who witnessed the entire incident, say that at that point a black man with short hair got out of the car and someone opened fire on her mother, striking her several times in the chest.
She isn’t sure if the man who got out of the car was the shooter or one of the two or three men inside the vehicle. The man got back in the car and fled the scene, leaving Fisher to die. She was still conscious after being shot, but was in shock. Fisher was rushed to the hospital but would die from her injuries.…
