Drunken Amish Buggy Race Leads To Collision With Squad Car, Rollover Crash

Sherman, NY – New York state sheriff deputies responding to a report of an underage drinking on a rural road presumably faced imminent death when – upon turning on to the road in question – they encountered several Amish buggies heading directly toward them in both lanes at a high rate of speed. Chautauqua County Sheriff Joe Gerace said Monday that there was, “reason to believe” that the buggies were racing.
Police noted that the drivers – who were jockeying for position while using both lanes of the roadway – tried to steer around the patrol vehicle. One of the buggies was unsuccessful, colliding with the patrol car and rolling onto its side in a horrific spectacle of illegal street racing.
A passenger in the ill-fated buggy, Marvin Byler, 19, sustained minor injuries when his leg was trapped underneath. The operator of the flipped buggy, Marty Troyer, 20, and a second passenger, Marianne Troyer, 18, were not injured. The horse became separated from the buggy and ran into a nearby pit area barn.…
Michael Rafferty Trial: Jurors Hear Horrific Testimony Regarding Tori Stafford’s Final Moments

Ontario, Canada – Ever read a story and wish you hadn’t? Yeah, that’s me right now.
Back in 2009, we posted about Victoria ‘Tori’ Stafford. She was the 8-year-old girl from Ontario Canada who was abducted from her school, raped and then murdered. Tori Stafford’s body would be found the following July, buried in garbage bags. An autopsy would reveal she had been raped and beaten so badly that it caused lacerations to her liver and broken ribs. Her death was the result of repeated blows to the head with a claw hammer.
Eventually police would arrest and charge 21-year-old Terri-Lynne McClintic and her then boyfriend, 31-year-old Michael Rafferty with Tori’s murder. McClintic would plead guilty to first-degree murder charge and is serving life in prison. Her ex would plead not guilty to Tori’s abduction, rape and murder and his trial has been ongoing this week.
Yesterday McClintic took the stand against Rafferty and gave some of the most disturbing, day-wrecking testimony in regards to exactly what happened to Tori in her final moments.…

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating an apparent murder suicide in which a man shot his estranged wife in a car before shooting himself, while the couple’s three young sons sat in the back seat.
On Tuesday, police found 24-year-old Alyshia Alexander and 25-year-old Jedidiah Alexander dead from gunshot wounds in what appeared to be a murder-suicide as they sat in the front seat of a car. In the back seat, covered in blood and covering their ears, they found the couple’s three young children.
Jedidiah and Alyshia got married in 2009, but the relationship was troubled and plagued with domestic abuse according to relatives and court records. The couple eventually separated, but Alyshia continued to let Jedediah see his boys. That Tuesday, she had driven to Jedidiah’s mother’s house to let the boys visit their father.
The three boys, 3-year-old Jedidiah, 2-year-old Jerimiah, and 1-year-old Jaedin, were not physically harmed and our currently staying with their maternal grandmother.
“They think that they’re just spending some time at Nana’s house. But eventually I’m going to have to deal with when they ask, ‘Where’s Mommy?’ I’m going to have to tell them,” Bridget Mitchell said.…

FREDERICKSBURG, Va – The woman convicted of faking cancer to raise thousands of dollars for her treatment has been ordered to pay a $100 fine.
Martha Ann Nicholas pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of obtaining money by false pretenses after prosecutors say she raised $1700 dollars selling “Cancer Sucks” T-shirts to family, friends, and strangers to help treat the stage-4 ovarian cancer she even didn’t have.
Authorities began investigating Nicholas in 2011 after they received a report that she was collecting donations based on a medical condition she hadn’t been diagnosed with. Nicholas was an active fund raiser for American Cancer Society and help raised $12,000 for the group, which the they say they received. What got Nicholas in legal trouble was the $1,700 that she raised for herself.
Aside from the $100 fine, Nicholas was also given a suspended sentence of a year in jail on each charge and ordered not to take part in any charitable causes. Her defense attorney added that his client had paid back the money she collected while also giving an explanation as to why she was faking having cancer.…

CULVER CITY, CA – Not a lot of details yet, but reports are a woman in California was found dead inside a home with a chainsaw wound to the neck.
The woman’s body was found by her sister around 1 a.m. Thursday. Her name has not been released, but police have confirmed that the woman had a chainsaw wound to her neck and a possible suicide note was found beside her body.
However, at this point her death has not been officially ruled a suicide. No matter the cause — suicide, accident or murder — that is one violent way to die.

Salina, KS - Ivory Francois Jr., 35, was strip searched last May when reporting for weekend jail time as part his probation for not paying child support. During that search, correctional officers found a lip balm container in his rectum that was full of… lip balm.
Why would someone smuggle lip balm into jail? Francois maintained at sentencing that it was simply because he had chapped lips.
Charles Ault-Duell, an assistant county attorney, countered that, in a jail, a small plastic tube can be adapted to many uses, such as holding drugs or being broken and sharpened into a weapon – but even the prosecution acknowledged that Francois had asked earlier about bringing lip balm into the jail. At that time, he was reportedly warned by jail security officers that he could not bring it in.
Francois had been found guilty of trafficking contraband into a correctional facility in a bench trial in December. His sentencing was not a small matter. Because Francois has had multiple convictions for domestic battery, battery and nonsupport of children, state sentencing guidelines dictated a sentence of three years and seven months in prison.…

SEATTLE, WA – No charges are expected to be filed after a 3-year-old boy shot himself in the head with a gun he found in a car while his family stopped for gas.
The incident happened after a couple stopped for gas about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday and left their 3-year-old boy and infant daughter in the car.
The father, who has a concealed weapons permit, stashed a pistol under the front seat before getting out to pump gas while the mother went inside the convenience store.
While they were both out of the car, their 3-year-old managed to climb out of his car seat, retrieve the gun, and then shoot himself in the head. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The couple’s infant daughter was not injured.
Detectives questioned the parents and have called the shooting nothing more than a tragic accident and do not expect criminal charges to be filed.
Honestly, I’m ok with that simply because I don’t think you could put this father in a hell any worse than the one he is in currently.…

SACRAMENTO, CA - I wasn’t going to post about the murder of 13-year-old Jessica Funk-Haslam, especially since Nancy Grace and a couple of silly “psychics” are on the case and will have this solved in no time, but when I saw Google considers an opinionated Gather article a news source, I died a little inside and figured I would put up my own article.
I know a lot of you have already heard about the murder of 13-year-old Jessica Funk-Haslam, but for those of you who haven’t, her body was found in a dugout of a baseball field last Tuesday morning. She had been strangled, stabbed and beaten.
The last person known to have seen her alive was her mother, Tara Funk-Haslam, who says her daughter ran out of the house to meet someone after an argument. She says she chased after her but was unable to catch her.
Armchair detectives are already fingering her as the prime suspect, speculating as to why her mother waited until the next morning to call police, or why she didn’t try to contact her friends or her father, Allen Porter.…

RIVERTON, UT – Police and family members of 15-year-old Anne Kasprzak are asking for the public’s help in finding her killer. The teen’s body was found floating in a Utah river Sunday afternoon.
The teen was last seen alive leaving her mother’s house about 7:45 p.m. Saturday. Her family thought she just went out for a walk, but when she failed to answer her phone or respond to their text messages, they began to worry. She was reported as a runaway at 8:43 p.m. that same night.
Family members used GPS to track the location of the Kasprzak’s cellphone, noting that Anne first seemed to be moving slowly before her movement quickened, as if she were in a moving vehicle. When they were no longer able to track her, they assumed her cell phone battery had died and continued looking for her until the early morning hours..
The next morning, police would would find a bloody sneaker on a pedestrian bridge in the same area her family had been searching. Later that afternoon, Kasprzak’s body would be found floating in the Jordan River.…

Springfield, MA – After his son’s team lost a 6th grade basketball game, Timothy Lee Forbes has been accused of attacking the winning team’s coach and biting off part of the coach’s ear.
The incident happened on Friday after his son’s team lost in the Catholic Youth Organization finals. While kids from both teams were shaking hands, words were exchanged between the two men, leading to Forbes punching the man and then biting off part of his ear.
Forbes fled the scene after other people at the game were able to pull him off the coach. Reports are that several of the 10-12 year old kids were knocked to the floor and left crying after the melee.
The injured coach was rushed to the hospital where doctors there were able to reattach the piece of his ear that had been removed. He has since been released and has returned home.
Timothy Lee Forbes eventually turned himself in to police and pleaded not guilty to charges of disorderly conduct, assault and battery, and felony mayhem. His attorney told reporters his client does not have any priors, but Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney said that they have arrested Forbes before.…

Alamogordo, NM — New Mexico divorce lawyer and past Otero County Bar Association President Raymond Van Arnam has been jailed after pleading no contest for helping a client break into a house where her estranged husband was living.
At the time of the Oct. 28, 2011 incident, Van Arnam was representing Melissa Stonecipher in her petition for divorce from her husband. Stonecipher was separated from her husband at the time of the incident. A temporary domestic order posted on the front window of her estranged husband’s residence stated the client needed to schedule a time to get her belongings. The video shows Van Arnam arrive at his client’s former home with several people where he pounds and kicks the front door.
In a 911 call to the Alamogordo Department of Public Safety, the victim, Stonecipher’s husband, stated that his estranged wife, Stonecipher, and her attorney, Van Arnam, were attempting to forcefully enter into his personal residence. The surveillance video showed Stonecipher’s husband and a roommate leaving the residence. Van Arnam is shown rapping on the driver window with a lollipop and then speaking to the estranged husband.…

RAMSEY, Ind. – A 20-year-old man in Indiana is facing two counts of child molestation for allegedly having sex with a 12-year-old girl after his girlfriend dared him to.
Cody Blankenship denies he never had sex with the girl, but that once when he was playing truth or dare with his 16-year-old girlfriend and her 12-year-old cousin, his girlfriend dared him to have sex with the younger girl.
His girlfriend’s parents dispute that, saying their daughter is traumatized and never dared Blankenship do anything of the sort. They say that back in January they found condoms in the bedroom their daughter shares with her cousin, and the 12-year-old eventually admitted to having had sex with Blankenship.
“She didn’t want to admit it, but after awhile she had come clean and said things had been happening and that Cody had snuck in her bedroom three different times. There’s stains on the mattress, I mean, it was really, really bad,” one parent said.
Police say Blankenship had sex with the 12-year-old on at least two occasions, a claim he vehemently denies.…

Las Vegas, NV — A woman accused of stabbing her 6-year-old daughter to death with a pair of scissors reportedly told police she did so because she felt an “evil presence” in her home and believed her child may have been possessed by a demon.
After being found naked on the streets of Las Vegas, covered in blood from what she claimed was “the Lamb of God,” 27-year-old Danielle Slaughter apparently expressed disbelief that she had disposed of her child in such a way.
“Did I kill my daughter? Is she dead?” Slaughter questioned police, later claiming that “wasn’t like her.”
Slaughter, who apparently began taking the dietary supplement Hydroxycut about four days prior to the murder, reportedly told police she had felt an evil presence in the home and claimed ”she never felt this way before,” she just wanted to remove the evil from the house.
Slaughter claims 6-year-old Kyla Franks began speaking and laughing in an evil voice Sunday evening. When Kyla began kicking and clawing at her, Slaughter said, she grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed the girl multiple times.…

NEW ORLEANS, LA – A woman in Louisiana is forcing her 13-year-old daughter to wear an embarrassing shirt that reads “Hide your money. Hide your clothes. Hide everything. ‘Cuz I’m A Thief.” after the teen was caught shoplifting.
Danaka Walker said she was sick to her stomach the day she had to pick up her daughter, Aaroneisha Celestin, from a juvenile detention center. The girl was there after getting caught stealing a $10 shirt from a local shopping center.
As part of her punishment, her mother is forcing her to wear the new shirt whenever she leaves the house and must do so until her court proceedings are over.
“I feel like if you’re going to embarrass me by stealing, I’m gonna show you what it’s like to be embarrassed. Everybody’s gonna know that you stole,” Walker said. “I work too hard for her to steal, and I’m not gonna have no thief living with me. I refuse to have a thief living with me.”
Walker says she doesn’t want the judge to throw her in jail, especially since it’s her first offense, but she is not looking for leniency from the judge as she wants her daughter to learn her lesson.…

Elyria, OH – Ameryst Blaylock, 26, made her first court appearance Monday to answer to charges of felonious assault and domestic violence after police say she bit off a portion of her husband’s lip during an argument earlier this month.
According to court documents, Ameryst and her husband Thomas had been involved in some sort of verbal altercation in the early morning hours of March 9, when the woman went all pit bull on him and attempted to chew off his face.
Ameryst allegedly socked her hubby in the face before declaring that if he didn’t want her anymore, she’d make damn sure no one would ever want him again. With that, she pounced on him, bit off the right side of his lower lip and spit it out.
Hubby hightailed it to the ER, sans lip. Unfortunately for him, the injury was too extensive for the lip to be reattached, so police just tossed the chunk of face meat after recovering it from the couple’s home.
In court, Thomas Blaylock claimed he is in no danger and asked the judge to lift a no-contact order so he and his “loving” wife could attend marriage counseling.…

HONOLULU, HI – If you know of a child missing some fingers recently, police in Hawaii would really like to talk to you after a child’s fingers were found in a dumpster behind a low-income housing complex.
A woman was looking for bottles and cans in a dumpster behind the Kukui Gardens Housing Complex when she found a ziploc bag containing what she thought was ginger root.
“I saw a plastic ziploc bag, which I thought were ginger root starting to dry out. I’m a gardener, and I recycle, and I thought I’d be able restore them. So I threw them in my purse,” said Gina Rose Vendegna.
She later realized what she had found was not ginger root when she noticed the fingernails. She showed the fingers to some other people who weren’t convinced they were actually fingers, or if they were, once belonged to a monkey.
“I thought just by chance I’m going to call the Police Department, turn ‘em in and let them decide,” Vendegna said.
Tests determined the fingers, two complete and four partial, belonged to a female child between two-and-a-half and four years old.…

Brussels, Belgium - Richard Remes, 57, is on trial in a Belgium court for injuries he inflicted on a woman who had recently ended their relationship.
Remes’ victim had been quoted as saying, “I just hope that I get to tell the court what I experienced, and how it hurt.” With Remes’ trial for attempted murder now underway, she finally has her chance and was in court to testify against him.
Patricia Lefranc, 48, told court members that she was, ‘determined to look him in the eye and show the jury what he has done to me’.
According to court documents, on December 1, 2009, Remes was waiting for Lefranc as she exited an elevator in the Brussels suburb of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. Lefranc told the court that Remes – with whom she had terminated an affair – sprayed sulphuric acid all over her head and upper body. Remes was married with children at the time.
After the attack, Lefranc said she was convinced that she would die, but neighbors heard her screams and managed to get her to a nearby hospital.…

TUSTIN, CA – Police have arrested a 23-year-old sex offender after they say he sodomized a 13-year-old boy inside the bathroom of a California library.
The victim was studying at the Tustin Library after school when Robert Claudio approached the teen and struck up a conversation. Somehow Claudio was able to convinced the victim into accompanying him to the library’s bathroom where, once inside, police say Claudio sodomized the boy.
Immediately after the assault, the teen fled to a nearby police station to report the incident. At around the same time, Claudio had left the library and approached a police services officer. He told him that he’s a registered sex offender and confessed to being involved with something that happened at the library.
The victim was treated at a nearby hospital and positively identified Claudio as the man who had sexually assaulted him.
Claudio, who confessed to the assault, was arrested and charged with sodomy of a minor and committing lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14.…

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – A dumbass in Florida is looking at a felony theft charge and possible jail time after a picture of him holding the nameplate he allegedly stole off a judge’s door found itself on Facebook.
Police say that on February 23, 21-year-old Steven Mulhall pried the $40 nameplate off of Broward Circuit Judge Michael Orlando’s door. A picture of Mulhall holding the nameplate was then posted to his girlfriend’s Facebook profile.
An anonymous tip directed investigators to the picture and Mulhall was arrested for petty theft. But here’s the kicker. Since he was already on probation for past petty theft convictions, this charge is a felony.
Mulhall, a friggin’ thief who has already been charged with 15 car burglaries, 10 counts of petty theft and two counts of grand theft, admits it was stupid of him to post the picture but says he didn’t steal the nameplate. Rather, he found it on the ground outside the courthouse.
“First off, I never even pulled it from the courtroom,” said Mulhall. “My girlfriend was getting off probation, and we were walking to the car, and we saw it.”
Thank God for Floridians being able to rise above their mental handicaps and figure out how to use Facebook, am I right?…
