Homeless Man Killed by Brush Cutter

June 7, 2007 at 10:30 am by

SEATTLE (AP) — A tractor with an 18-foot rotary arm was being used to clear blackberry bushes for a highway project struck and killed a homeless man in a sleeping bag. King County medical examiner’s Office stated Isaac Palmer, 62, died of skull fractures and brain lacerations caused by sharp and blunt-force head trauma. Officials had warned transients to leave the area last week, including putting up new trespassing signs and warning transients of the upcoming brush-cutting, in an effort to clean up a mile long stretch under the freeway that was littered with human waste, trash and needles.

The tractor had been operating for about a half hour Saturday morning before Palmer was hit.

My Bloody Valentine Remake?

June 7, 2007 at 9:21 am by

Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that they have gotten a scoop regarding LionsGate remaking the 1980 slasher film, My Bloody Valentine. For those who are unaware, My Bloody valentine was one of the many slasher films released in the ’80s that involved a group of teenagers being stalked by a deranged person dressed in miner garb and a pick-axe while trapped underground in a coal mine.

The film is popular amongst horror fans for not only the content, but because of it being a victim of some nasty cuts from the censors leaving a fairly neutered product that looked a lot different from some of the still shots that were released in horror magazines before it was put into theaters. Fans have long awaited a DVD release of the original film with all the cut footage back in place, especially since the footage is still in existence. Maybe a remake would be the first step in something like that seeing the light of day.

The fact that Lionsgate is behind the remake is a good indication that it will be a bloody one, as Lionsgate has proven with their distribution of such films as Hostel 2, Saw 3 and the upcoming Midnight Meat Train, they have no issues delivering R-rated horror films.…

Hell’s Kitchen Winner Revealed?

June 6, 2007 at 8:49 am by

Seems that way. Bodog.com, a gambling website, has suspended betting on Hell’s Kitchen after the odds for one of the contestanst went from 7-1 to 2-1. This contestant is 30-year-old Rock, an executive chef from Spotsylvania, Virginia.

While this suspension of betting isn’t a 100 percent gaurantee that Rock will be given the head chef’s position at a new Italian restaurant in the Green Valley Ranch Resort and Spa, remember that Bodog is the same site suspended betting for Survivor: Panama—Exile Island in 2006 when a flood of bets came in for eventual runner-up, Danielle DiLorenzo, when she was still only in the top seven. Bodog also suspended betting on Survivor: The Amazon in 2003 after being tipped off that some CBS employees were betting, correctly it turned out, on who that season’s top two would be.

But I doubt this will hurt the show any, as people watch Hell’s Kitchen for a lot of different reasons, and Monday’s premiere averaged 8.2 million viewers.

Mexico City – A 56-year-old man was killed while feeding a lion and a tiger. Both animals were being kept on the roof of a meat processing plant located in the Mexico City neighborhood of Iztapalapa. Angel Aguilar was feeding the cats scraps of chicken when the lion swiped him through the bars and pulled him into the cage.

Once inside the cage, the tiger joined in the attack. Both animals are usually kept separated, but are put together during feeding.

When rescuers arrived, Aguilar was still alive but they were not able to get past the animals to help him. Animal protection transported both animals to a local zoo, the tiger died from suffocation in route.

Variety is reporting that Hasbro has switched agencies, leaving CAA and moving to the William Morris Agency to help bring some of their more popular brand names to a new audience. William Morris will be in charge of getting brands like Monopoly, Ouija, Candy Land, Clue and Trivial Pursuit turned into movies, TV shows or videogames. Fortress is an Australian made-for-tv movie that is probably most remembered when it made the rounds on HBO in the mid to late ’80s. Directed by Arch Nicholson and based off a novel of the same name written by Gabrielle Lord, which in turn was loosely based off the Faraday School Kidnapping. It details the adventure had by a small group of school kids from Sunny Flat, a small town in New South Wales, when they, along with their teacher (Rachel Ward), are kidnapped from their one-room schoolhouse by a group of men wearing masks and carrying guns. The motive of the armed men is ransom, but eventually the class of kids ranging from kindergarten to 10th grade, comes to the realization that in order to survive this ordeal, it will take ingenuity, bravery and the ability to work together as a team.…

Well, after Bill Gates appearance on the Today Show, this story has been making the rounds on all the tech sites. He was there to show of the Microsoft Surface. Basically an interactive table. I am not using the term basically to trivilaize the product, as it is pretty cool. I would go on to explain what it can do, but watch the video for yourself.

Now, if this table can do all of these things reliably, how much would you be willing to pay?

Dead End Drive-In takes place when society is at the brink of a complete upheaval akin to the society seen in another Australian film, Mad Max. A society that has just about collapsed but still being held together – barely – by government officials and law enforcement. Prospects look bleak for the youth, as more and more are choosing to become part of the problem rather than part of a solution. One particular avenue some of these kids decide to travel is to join roving gangs called Car Boys. These gangs stalk the cityscape, fighting law enforcement and tow truck drivers all in the desire to steal all the usable parts from cars to build their own, including stripping cars immediately after they have been involved in an accident. With society at the brink of anarchy and crime escalating out of control, the government has initiated a rather unusual program to battle the phenomena.…

During a raid on an Al Qaeda safe house a few weeks ago, American forces found a torture manual. The manual has detailed illustrations on different torture techniques to use such as using blow torches, vices and eye removal. Also found in the house were pictures of individuals who had endured some of these techniques. Other items found in the house included electric drills, hammers, blow torches, meat cleavers, pliers and wire cutters, chains, screw drivers, whips and handcuffs.
