MILTON, WA – Police have arrested 29-year-old Michael Dufour after he allegedly left his 15-month-old daughter in a car in subfreezing temperatures long enough for her to suffer frostbite and hypothermia. Warning, this story contains a lot of diarrhea.
Police and medics were called to Dufour’s home after receiving a report that he had left his daughter alone in a car for an unknown amount of time overnight.
When medics arrived, they found the naked girl inside the car with two windows down in 26 degree weather. When police arrived, they found Dufour had already taken the girl out of the car and was carrying her into the house.
Dufour was naked from the waist down and had diarrhea running down his legs and carrying the girl in a diarrhea covered comforter. Inside the home police would find garbage everywhere and, of course, more diarrhea.
Medics noted the girl was red and lethargic and took her to the hospital where she was treated for hypothermia and minor frostbite.
When police asked Dufour why he was covered in his own shit and why his daughter was being turned into a popsicle, he said it was the girl’s mother’s fault.…
CONCORD, CA – Police have arrested 37-year-old Dormanicia Lawson after her paraplegic husband was found with bedsores and maggots feeding on his body.
Police were called after Lawson’s 36-year-old husband was taken to the hospital with trouble breathing. Once there, nurses found the poor guy was covered in bedsores and maggots.
“He could not talk. He had shortness of breath. He had maggots that were eating his body,” said Concord police spokesman Corporal Christopher Blakely. “You would think he was a corpse.”
By the next day, he was.
Police decided they should talk to the man’s wife, his primary caregiver, to find out how in the hell her husband had gotten to that state. When they arrived at the couple’s apartment they shared with their two sons – an 11-year-old and a severely autistic 19-year-old – they quickly found out.
There was a stench emanating from the apartment and inside police would find cockroaches and maggots crawling on a mattress, as well as dead flies wedged into the ceiling. The two boys echoed their surroundings and were described as dirty and smelling like shit.…
Police were called in to investigate a severe case of child abuse involving a 6-year-old boy and 4-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, who had been admitted to All Children’s Hospital.
“The sight of the 4-year-old boy took my breath away,” Detective Megan Buck said. “My description of him when I saw him was that he looked like a skeleton. His body was skin and bones. He has no hair because of lack of nutrients. He has a skin rash and marks from the lack of nutrients. He is non-verbal and cannot talk.”
According to reports, the boy’s intestines were completely empty and he only weighed 22 pounds – the normal weight of an 11-month-old baby. His twin sister only weighed 26 pounds.
The older sibling said that they live with their mother, 27-year-old Kimberly Haygood, but their father, 30-year-old Anthony Jones, also stays at the home and beats them with a belt.…
The girl was brought to the hospital on Monday after being cared for by Hartwig, who has helped care for the girl since she was an infant.
Hartwig was a family friend who offered to babysit because the baby’s parents were wary about putting the girl in daycare.
But when the girl’s mother arrived to pick up her daughter from Hartwig’s home, she found her daughter sleeping face down on the couch. The baby was lethargic and vomited as she left Hartwig’s home, so she rushed her to the hospital.
Doctors determined the girl was suffering from a skull fracture as well as swelling and bleeding around the brain. They say the child’s injuries were caused by “high force impact.”
When police went to talk to Hartwig, she said the girl could have fallen and hit her head on an entertainment center. But on Tuesday, doctors told police that the girl’s injuries could not have come from that kind of fall.…
The teen left her baby daughter in the care of the baby’s grandmother Monday night so she could go to a party for a couple of hours.
When she returned home shortly after midnight, she found her infant dead inside her crib. Seems that rats had gotten to the girl and had chewed off half of her face and her fingers.
After running to neighbors for help, paramedics arrived on the scene but could do nothing to save the infant, who was pronounced dead at the scene. After talking to police, both the teen and her mother were taken into custody.
We’ve reported on a lot of stories involving unattended babies being eaten by animals other than dogs, including an infant that lost most of its face after the family ferrets decided to make a meal out of it, and a baby that was strangled to death by the family’s pet python.…
Two days after Christmas, police were called by one of the Erquiagas’ neighbors who explained he had a young girl at his front door.
Her hands were zip-tied together, he told police, and she had separate ties around her ankles. The neighbor initially believed the girl had been kidnapped.
When police arrived and spoke with the girl, she explained that her parents hog-tied her whenever she got angry and kept her locked in a playhouse located in a loft area of the home.
When investigators went to the home to verify the 12-year-old girl’s story and speak with her parents, they found a playhouse with a door that could be barred shut by a large piece of wood.
All but one of the playhouse’s windows was screwed shut, and it reeked of urine. The girl explained she often pissed herself when locked inside for long periods of time.…
Alexandria Griffin-Heady, 24, left for work for a few hours on Sunday, leaving Hudson alone with her three pit bulls she has raised since they were puppies. When she returned home, she found her dogs had mauled her brother to death.
It’s a sad end for a boy who hadn’t had such a great life to begin with. After his mother died of a drug overdose in 2011, he was bounced around foster homes until his sister began the complicated ordeal of adopting her brother.
At the time of his death, Griffin-Heady had been approved for weekend visits. She recently made a post on Facebook about how grateful she was that she may get custody of Hudson.
“I get to raise him and shape him into an amazing man. God wouldn’t have made such an amazing boy just to be ordinary. In my life during all the bad I always wondered why I was here,” she wrote.…
SARASOTA, FL – This will be the last story on DD for 2015, and holy shit is it messed up. Police say 31-year-old James Dearman used his fat ass to smother his 6-year-old son while he played a video game.
According to police, the incident happened on Christmas Eve at the home where Dearmon lived with his two sons, ages 6 and 7, as well as his girlfriend, Ashley Cole.
According to Cole, at around 7:30 that evening, the couple told the two boys to go to bed. When they heard the boys running around their room, Dearman forced both of the boys to stand facing a wall.
When they caught the 6-year-old watching them play a video game, Dearman became angry and made the boy lie on the couch, facing the back cushions. Dearman then sat on the couch, using his 270 lbs of bodyweight to pin the poor kid.
According to the boy’s brother, who witnessed everything, his younger sibling screamed that he had to use the bathroom and could not breathe.…
On Dec 23, the teen was caring for three foster children – a 7-year-old boy, a 9-year-old girl, and 6-year-old Destine King – while their foster mother was at work. For reasons unknown at this time, the teenager attacked them.
Police would find Destine King lying on the floor, unresponsive. She would be taken to the hospital in critical condition and die a few days later.
A cause of death has not been determined, but Memphis police Sgt. Karen Rudolph said the girl had a swollen and bruised face, while medical staff at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital stated the girl’s injuries were from being physically abused.
The other two foster children were also assaulted by the teen, according to police, and were admitted to the hospital. They have both been released and placed in the care of the Department of Child Services.
As for Evans, he’s been arrested and charged with three counts of criminal attempted first-degree murder, three counts of aggravated child abuse, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of coercion of a witness.…
Police were called to a home, where Burford and his 5-year-old nephew both live, on a report of a domestic altercation.
According to reports, the arriving officers would learn that Burford had allegedly hit his nephew because he found his nephew playing with Burford’s Pokemon cards.
The boy was hit so hard that he was knocked off his feet and into a wall, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Burford was arrested and charged with second-degree child abuse and second-degree assault. He’s being held on $20,000 bond.
Look, I’m not condoning smacking a 5-year-old against a wall, but some of those cards are expensive – one even sold at $100,000 recently. I have no idea if this guy is just a man-child or a collector, but I do know if I had a set of valuable Pokemon cards for whatever reason, I may involuntarily knock a kid upside his head if I found him putting his boogery fingers all over them.…
Police and fire personnel responded to Raines-Hewes’ home on the morning of December 29 to a report of a drowning. They would find the 4 year-old boy unconscious and not breathing.
Despite attempts to resuscitate the boy, he would be pronounced dead at a local trauma center. The boy’s death was deemed suspicious, so detectives immediately opened an investigation.
This investigation has resulted in the arrest of Raines-Hewes, who was the sole caretaker of the boy at the time of his death. Investigators say she placed the boy in the bathtub and intentionally drowned him.
Fairfield police spokesman Officer Cleo Mayoral said the arrest stemmed from “evidence at the scene, including statements that were provided — statements from the grandmother herself.”
Raines-Hewes is being held in the Solano County jail without bail and facing a charge of murder. Two other grandchildren, a 1 year-old girl and 6 year-old girl, were also in the home but were not harmed.…
DALLAS, NC — Police have charged 30-year-old Stephanie Tillman with child neglect and child abuse after her infant son was found dead on Christmas Eve.
Police were called to Tillman’s home by her boyfriend, Jerry Allen, after he returned home from work to find his 6-month-old son dead on the living room couch.
“He’s beyond help, ma’am. He’s beyond help,” Allen tells the 911 dispatcher. When the 911 dispatcher asked him where Tillman was, he responded that he did not know, but that she was “probably eating another pill.”
Turns out he was pretty accurate on his assumption as he would find Tillman sleeping in the back bedroom with their two daughters, ages 3 and 4.
“I panicked. I went back there to wake her up. I rolled her over and I seen her face was covered in blood. It scared me, I screamed,” Allen would later tell reporters.
When emergency crews arrived, they would confirm that 6-month-old Jerry Allen Jr. was dead. A cause of death has not been released, but the boy’s autopsy was scheduled for yesterday.…
BRISTOW, VA – Justin Branick, a 21-year-old martial arts teacher, reportedly lost his temper and knocked out a 5-year-old student.
The incident happened on Tuesday at Tiger Martial Arts where Branick was teaching taekwondo and reportedly got angry at his young student for some reason.
According to Prince William police spokesman Nathan Probus, Branick picked the boy up by the ankle and threw him over his shoulder, knocking the boy unconscious.
The boy was taken to a hospital for treatment and released to his family that same day. He would be taken back to the hospital later to be treated for serious injuries.
The next morning, another employee at the martial arts studio called police to tell them how the child was injured. Police investigated and ended up arresting Branick later that day on a charge of felony child abuse.…
Police say Kathleen Peacock and Lucas Barnes put 2-year-old Braydon Barnes in a crib on Friday and left him shut in the room with a space heater for 38 hours.
While the boy slowly cooked in his room, the couple used meth in the home that they also used as a meth lab. Peacock, who is pregnant, later admitted that despite hearing her son crying, she did not check on him until Sunday.
That’s when Peacock discovered her son was dead in his crib and ran to a neighbor for help. That neighbor would later state that when she went inside the boy’s room, it felt like it was 100 degrees. Sadly, there was nothing that could be done for the boy as, according to paramedics, Braydon had been dead for some time.
An autopsy would later reveal the boy was generally malnourished and thin.…
According to police, Feliciano became so angry at his baby crying that the 51-year-old went into his room and suffocated him. The boy’s mother, 31-year-old Danielle Whyte, tried to revive the boy but was unsuccessful.
Whyte, a public school teacher, did not call police because Feliciano allegedly threatened to kill her if she told anyone. So, with Whyte’s help, Feliciano put the baby’s body in a plastic bag and buried it in some woods near the Heidi’s Inn motel.
Police were notified after Whyte ingested pills in an apparent suicide attempt. After being taken to the hospital, she told a doctor what happened to her son. Police would locate the boy’s fully-clothed body Saturday afternoon after interviewing Whyte at the hospital.
Feliciano was arrested and charged with second-degree murder after he told detectives he smothered the boy because he was crying, then choked him when he started crying again.…
SALINAS, CA — A lot of information is still coming in on this next story out of California, where two people have been arrested after a child abuse investigation led police to the dead bodies of two children inside a storage locker.
Tami Joy Huntsman, 39, and Gonzalo Curiel, 17, have been arrested and charged with felony child abuse, torture and mayhem after a young girl in their care was found severely abused.
The girl is currently in the hospital in critical condition after undergoing surgery, according to the Redding Police Department.
During their investigation, police would be directed to a storage unit where they would discover the dead bodies of two children, ages 3 and 5, who are reportedly the abused girl’s siblings.
Aside from combing the couple’s home, police are also at an apartment in Salinas, where the couple recently moved from. They have not said what they are looking for, but prosecutors said the apartment belongs to a woman who may have had temporary custody of the children at some point.…
Back in September, the 31-year-old filled a bathtub with water and tried to abort her 24-week-old baby by stabbing it to death with a coat hanger.
She got scared when she started bleeding, so she had her boyfriend take her to the hospital where she told the staff she wanted to terminate her pregnancy. Instead, doctors delivered her 1.5 pound baby boy.
Because of Yocca’s lack of follow-through, the boy will now need medical support for the rest of his life due to the damage Yocca had done to his lungs, eyes, and heart.
“The whole time she was concerned for her health, her safety and never gave any attention to the health and safety to the unborn child,” said Sergeant Kyle Evans.
Police arrested Yocca on Wednesday, charging her with attempted first-degree murder. She was ordered jailed in the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $200,000 bond.…
JONESBORO, AR – Austin Herrin almost slipped under my radar. The 19-year-old was arrested earlier this month after he got angry at a baby for soiling their diaper, and broke the baby’s leg.
Back in October, Herrin was caring for an 8-month-old girl when he became angry at her for needing a diaper change.
So, according to Chief Gary Hefner of the Harrisburg Police Department, Herrin grabbed the baby by one of her legs and dragged her across the floor on her face.
He then lifted her up by the leg and flipped her over. During this motion, Herrin later told police he “heard the child’s leg break.” Not wanting to go to jail for breaking a baby’s leg, Herrin lied about how the leg was broken when the baby was taken to the hospital.
Police were called when the child’s injuries did not match the story told by Herrin, but by this time, Herrin had moved and police were unable to locate him. That was until Nov. 24, when Herrin voluntarily went to police and admitted to what had really happened that day.…
