ROCK HILL, SC — I was out yesterday doing things most handsome, rich people do on their Fridays off, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t checking out the latest news. So here are a few stories I would have posted yesterday had I been around. Starting with an update on the story we featured about the band who got into a shootout with a few armed robbers. For the link impaired, members of the band Parmalee were relaxing in their tour RV after a show at the The Money, when Dytavis Hinton and Demario Burris forced their way in armed with a gun and demanded cash. But drummer Scott Thomas pulled out a gun of his own and a shootout ensued. Thomas and Hinton were both wounded and taken to the hospital, but Burris was shot dead. Now Hinton has been charged with murder, attempted murder, burglary, attempted armed robbery and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. I can’t fault the robbers for picking this band because truthfully, if I were looking to score some easy money, a Puddle of Mudd cover band would be on the top of my list.…

Philadelphia -- Towing companies in Philly don’s mess around it seems, with multiple stories in the news about competing companies fighting over territory and with each other. The latest involving a man who killed a rival towing employee by running him over with his tow-truck. Police said that 25-year-old Glen McDaniel, who worked for Straight Up Towing, and 30-year-old Ray Santiago, who worked for Siani’s towing, both ended filling up their tow trucks at the same gas station at the same time. Reportedly the two got into an argument over towing territories, and Santiago ended up leaving the gas station, pulling into O’Reilly’s Pub across the street. McDaniel followed him and for some senseless reason, he ran over Santiago. No quite satisfied, he put his truck in reverse and ran over him again, killing him. McDaniels was caught moments later after driving off and charged with murder, homicide by vehicle, and DUI. This isn’t McDaniels first run-in with the law over his temper — he was still on probation for a December charge of simple assault where he had been ordered to take anger management classes.…

PITTSBURGH – Bittersweet news for the friends and family of Laura Thompson, the 15-year-old single mother who went missing back in ’93. Thompson was last seen by her parents getting into a car with some men to go play cards and she was never heard from or seen since — most assuming she had simply run away. She is still listed on National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website along with an age progressed photo, but it is looking like she has been found. Two months ago, Shannon Marshall went to police and informed them that Thompson was dead. She had been raped and murdered and she had been present when her soon-to-be ex-husband, 39-year-old Joseph Marshall Jr., dug up her body back in ’93. She also claimed another man, 38-year-old Sean McDonough, was also involved and had been the one who raped the girl before she was murdered. Marshall helped police with their investigation into her claims, wearing a wiretap for a month, and on Monday both men were in police custody charged with murder.…

Houston, Texas — Leiah Jackson was 8-months pregnant when someone stabbed her over 20 times in the stomach killing both her and her unborn son. Somehow she was able to crawl from her home to the doorstep of her mother who lived in the same duplex. She would die on the doorstep, but not before giving details about her attacker. Police believe the person who killed Jackson is also responsible for the death of her fiancée, 30-year-old Yancy Daniels, who had been shot to death an hour earlier at a nearby apartment complex. Police have announced that they are questioning a suspect who was acquainted with Jackso and is probably responsible for Daniel’s death as well. “Once we get that physical evidence I truly believe we will make an arrest on this case,” Capt. John Bailey with Missouri City Police said. Jackson worked as a nurse’s aide at E.A. Jones Elementary, and grief counselors have been put in place for students and co-workers. I’ve included some video that has a couple graphic shots of Jackson’s blood on her mother’s doorstep.…

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. — A Florida man shot and killed his estranged wife and his four step-children before taking his own life, leaving two of his biological children unharmed. After getting kicked out of a club and then later a park, police say Patrick Dell, 41, entered a home early Monday morning and used a handgun to kill his wife, Natasha Whyte-Dell, 36, and four of her children: 10-year-old Daniel Barnett; 11-year-old Javon Nelson; 13-year-old Diane Barnett; and 14-year-old Bryan Barnett. He then walked outside as police were approaching the home, and took his own life. One 15-year-old in the home was taken to the hospital were he is reportedly doing well and two of couple’s bioligcal children, ages 1 and 3, were removed unharmed and our currently in the care of relatives. Patrick went after Natasha with a knife less than a year ago and she currently had a restraining order against him. What set Patrick off this time is not known, although there was a pending divorce. The friend that was with him at the club said he had a temper and had caused problems that night with talks of chopping people up.…

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – I’ve been holding of on this one because the details keep changing and it is just full of strange information. In a nutshell, Laura Johnson has been charged with second-degree murder, an alternative count of manslaughter and unauthorized practice of medicine in the death of her husband, attorney LLoyd Johnson, 47. He was brought to the hospital for what was reported as a heart attack, but two days later he was dead. What makes this story so odd is that aside from revealing he had high levels of opiates in his system, his cause of death is being reported as a stabbing, a poisoning, or both. But the “practice of medicine” charge is an interesting addition to the oddball list of shit found in the family’s home. Things like a dead dog, correspondence between Laura and Lloyd Johnson, bloodstained bedding, prescription medication, needles, a photo album with “injuries photo” as an entry, assorted medical and surgical supplies in the master bedroom, and frozen human tissue in the refrigerator.…

WOBURN, Mass. – You guys remember that disgusting coward who killed his entire family after getting into an argument with his wife? For the link impaired, back in June, Thomas Mortimer IV was arrested and charged with the stabbing deaths of his wife, Laura Stone-Mortimer, her mother, Ragna Ellen Stone, and the couple’s two children, Charlotte, 2, and Thomas,4, after becoming enraged over a bounced check to the IRS. He attempted suicide, but as usual with murdering cowards they just never seem to get that part right. Anyway, police found a couple notes he had written sometime after he diced up his family, and his attorney had been trying to get the contents of the notes sealed from public view. The note included Mortimer stating “I hate myself more than ever,” and “I wonder what life would be like if I did not chicken out.” He writes about letting his hatred of his wife’s family fester “until one murderous night,” and that he was ”ashamed, frightened, relieved, surprised that I murdered my family, disgusted with myself.” When his attorney was unable to have the notes suppressed, she tried to get four lines removed from public view fearing they could prejudice jurors.…

HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. — Early Tuesday morning, police were called out to the home of retired OB/GYNs, Margaret and Terje Buggeland. One of their sons had come home to find them dead. “My mom and dad are laying on the floor in my dad’s room and my brother’s gone,” Steven Buggeland told the 911 dispatcher (listen to call here). The missing brother is the couple’s live-in son. His name is Erik Buggeland and he is a 35-year-old, 6-foot tall, 375-pound paranoid schizophrenic. Police would really like to talk with him. His brother feels that intruders killed his parents and have abducted Erik, but police have not stated that nor have they named Erik as a suspect. They are asking the public to call them if you see Erik or the couple’s missing 2003 gold four-door Honda Accord with Kentucky license place 009-EDC. Police have the autopsy reports back but are keeping their mouths shut at this point. Here’s a story involving dead parents and their 6-foot tall, 375-pound crazy son right out of JUST BEFORE DAWN, with the last name of Buggeland.…

Ventura, California — Police have arrested 25-year-old Blair Stockdill on suspicion she murdered her 8-year-old daughter then left her body inside the apartment for days before being discovered. Police were called to her apartment after someone called reporting a disturbance. When they arrived, the found Stockdill and a man believed to be her boyfriend arguing outside. She was armed with a knife, he was sporting stab wounds to his hands and arms. Neighbors say they heard him crying, “She killed her daughter.” When they went inside the apartment they found the body of Alaina Stockdill in the bathtub. The girl’s autopsy has been completed though the results have been delayed. Stockdill, who has a history with police, is rumored to have a drug problem and relatives say she has a history of mental illness. She had just recently regained custody of Alaina and now some are asking how. Ventura County Supervisor Steve Bennett is one of those people and has called on officials to investigate why Child Protect Services would allow her back with her mother.…

MONROE, OH — Remember that stripper we reported on last month, the one who killed her client after dragging him underneath her vehicle? Well she has been indicted on murder charges. For those of you who do not feel like clicking, Kristina Hensley, 35, arrived at the residence of Jae Cho, 31, after he called Naughty Bodies requesting a private show. She alleged that Cho got a bit too hands-on so she ran outside to her SUV where Cho followed and threatened to slash her tires. When he jumped in front of the vehicle, Hensley ran over him and dragged his ass all the way to a gas station where he would die from his injuries. Yesterday a grand jury returned indictments against Hensley, charging her with two counts of murder, aggravated robbery, failure to stop after an accident and theft. Those robbery and theft charges allude to a much different scenario than the one Hensley described. Hey, prosecutor Robin Piper, lay down some knowledge and inform people how you can charge someone with two counts of murder when there is only one victim.…

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. – Police have charged an 11-year-old baby sitter with felony murder and child cruelty in the death of 2-year-old Zyda White. The toddler died over the weekend after suffering blunt force trauma to the head. The girl’s mother called 911 after arriving to pick her up Saturday night. The babysitter, whose mother is a co-worker of the victim’s mother, said the injuries resulted from a fall off of a bed. But autopsy results did not support that. White’s mother told reporters she wants the accused to do life in prison but has probably learned by now that the maximum sentence allowed for someone under the age of 13 charged with murder is two years in a juvenile justice facility. So if it was an intentional act or not, she’ll be back home in no time. I am going to go out on a limb and guess that the place these two work at is pretty awkward at the moment. Also, do people regularly employ 11-year-old babysitters?…

Police: Woman In Labor Brings Dead Boy To Hospital

September 16, 2010 at 8:14 am by

Zion, IL – On September 6, 35-year-old Yolanda Jones delivered a very dead 5-year-old boy to the hospital shortly before going into labor and delivering her sixth child. According to police, the child, Tommy Davis III, was the son of a man Jones had been dating – the same man who fathered three of her six children, including the newest addition. Jones, labeled the child’s caregiver, initially tried to tell hospital staff the child had fallen down and hit his head on a parking block at the Sheridan Hotel where she and her children had been living. That bullshit story just didn’t fly. Why? Tommy had already been dead for several hours when Jones arrived at the hospital; an initial examination of the boy’s body revealed extensive bruising from the top of the his head to just below his knees, with recent bleeding from his nose, ears and head; video surveillance from the hotel showed Jones leaving the building with the child already limp in her arms; the autopsy revealed Tommy died of blunt force trauma to the head and brain, classified as “non-accidental.” Oh, and then there’s the confession.…

ORLANDO, Fla. — The death of a 7-month-old boy has been ruled a homicide and his father, Keith Skinner, has been arrested and charged with his murder. Autopsy results released Tuesday by the Orange-Osceola Medical Examiner state Triumph Alexander Skinner’s manner of death as homicide. When the little boy was brought to the hospital, doctor’s noted he had suffered a perforated bowel and a severely fractured skull. They also added he had multiple fractured ribs in various stages of healing. He would die while in surgery. The mother first told police the boy had fallen and hit his head, but later told investigators Skinner had called her at work saying he had accidentally hurt the baby when he slammed his head into a couch. Skinner also told her to lie to police and told his 7-year-old daughter to tell police that he was not home when the baby was injured. Here’s the kicker — Skinner was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to child abuse back in 2004.…

INDIANAPOLIS — Any of you remember Andrew Conley? He’s the 17-year-old kid we reported on last year who was accused of strangling his 10-year-old brother. He would go on to confess that he had fantasized about killing since he was in the eighth-grade, identified himself with Dexter and according to the affadavit, killed his little brother because he felt he had to — likening the urge to kill to a hungry person satisfying a craving for a hamburger. Well he pleaded guilty to murder on Monday. He has made no deal with prosecutors and faces a minimum of 45 years in prison. Prosecutors want life without parole, calling Conley an evil psychopath who poses a threat to society if released. Police said Andrew confessed to placing Conner in a headlock causing him to pass out. He then dragged his brother to the kitchen where he strangled him for 20 minutes until he died. Andrew stuffed his body in a trunk then walked to his girlfriends house to giver her a promise ring.…

Police: Dad Shot And Killed Son For Spitting On Mom

September 14, 2010 at 4:51 am by

Kemp, TX – According to police, 23-year-old Tyler Sides spent a good part of the day Sunday getting shit-faced and acting like an ass. Like most fools who can’t handle their liquor, Tyler reportedly became belligerent and argumentative. Police also say that on several occasions throughout the day, Tyler supposedly spit on his mother. His father, Marcus Sides, apparently had all he could take from his antagonistic spawn once the spit started flying and after a heated verbal altercation, shot his son once in the gut. Tyler died from his injuries later that day. Marcus told police he did it in an attempt to protect his wife. The 50-year-old man has been booked on one count of murder and is being held in lieu of $500,000 bond. I’m sure there is more to this story than is being reported in the media, but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that Tyler has long been a thorn in the side of those who loved him. Even so, you would think the police would have been called in long before a gun was drawn.…

Pocono Township, PA – Here’s a story that I’m sure will show up on FORENSIC FILES or something similar in the near future. Back in 2008, Pastor Arthur Schirmer said his attempt at avoiding a deer is what caused him to slam his vehicle into a guard rail in an accident that would claim the life of his wife, Betty Schirmer. Police were initially skeptical, especially since paramedics said the crash was too minor to have caused Betty’s injuries, but their hinky meters were really set off when a few months later, Joseph Musante committed suicide in Schirmer’s church. Especially when they learn Schirmer was having an affair with Musante’s wife, who worked at the church. They also found out that his first wife had also died back in 1999 — from a fall down a flight of stairs. After doing a little more checking into his second wife’s death, and finding some drops of blood in the garage that hints at the fact that Betty was dead before she was even in the car crash, Schirmer was arrested and charged with murder and fabricating or tampering with physical evidence.…

Tina Pickens Really Knows How To Pick ‘Em

September 13, 2010 at 6:23 am by

Marion, IL – In September 2008, Tina Pickens was shot and wounded by her husband, 61-year-old Harry Schauf Jr, in an apparent domestic altercation. Pickens recovered from her injuries and her husband was later convicted on charges of aggravated battery and sentenced to a 50-year prison term. Now, I don’t know about you folks, but if my husband/boyfriend/flavor of the week gave me a hot lead injection, I wouldn’t be too fired up about jumping into another relationship any time soon. Pickens, however, soon found herself another abusive asshole with which to spend her time – while still married to the first asshole. In September 2009, her latest beau, 47-year-old Patrick Williams, was arrested on charges of assault after slapping her around a bit, cutting and bruising her face. He bonded out on January 11, 2010, and was ordered to have no contact with Pickens. Just two weeks later, Williams was picked up again for domestic battery and violating the conditions of his bond after slapping Pickens in the face.…

JACKSON, Ky. — John House posted this horrific story of domestic violence over on our Facebook page that has left six people dead. On Saturday morning, in an unnamed trailer park in Breathitt County, 47-year-old Stanley Neace and his wife got into an argument. Some reports say it was over money, others say it was because he didn’t like how she cooked his eggs. But no matter what the case, report are Stanley had become increasingly unstable over the last few months — to the point his landlord had already began eviction proceedings because of his hostile behavior towards his neighbors. On this morning, Stanley totally lost it and grabbed a pump-action shotgun. His wife Sandra Neace, 54, and her daughter, Sandra Strong, 28, ran out of the trailer and to their neighbor, 31-year-old Dennis J. Turner, who was also Strong’s boyfriend. Clad only in his pajama bottoms, Stanley followed them inside the trailer. He would kill his wife and step-daughter, as well as Turner and Teresa Fugate, a friend who was visiting. But he wasn’t finished.…

Mailman Found Murdered Inside His Garage

September 11, 2010 at 4:12 pm by

Oak Park, Ill – Have you ever walked out to your car in the early morning dark and have that chill run up your spine with a completely unfounded feeling that someone was behind the corner of your house, or crouched down at the rear of your car, waiting to ambush you? Well police think that’s exactly what happened to 41-year-old Pedro Gurrola Jr. on Thursday morning. Police received a call after his wife found him dead inside the garage at around 10 a.m. bleeding from the head. Police feel that Gurrola was attacked in his garage at around 6:45 a.m. as he was leaving to go to work as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. A silver Pathfinder was still parked in the garage, but his 1997, four-door, red or maroon Chevrolet Lumina was missing. Watch the video after the break and hear Oak Park Police Chief Rick Tanksley say they have leads leading them to believe the attack on Gurrola wasn’t random and residents had no reason to be fearful.…

PRAGUE, Okla. – Here’s an interesting one out of Oklahoma that sounds like it came straight out of a horror movie. Ethan Walton, 19, went to the property of 39-year-old Glendon Gouker to talk with him about a potential land deal. His 20-year-old girlfriend waited behind in the car. After some time had passed, Glendon’s sister, 29-year-old Michele Gouker, approached her and told her she needed to come be a witness. She was led to a small shed where she saw her boyfriend lying on the ground. She was then kidnapped, duct taped, handcuffed and repeatedly raped by Glendon before being taken inside their home and tied to a bed. She was held there for hours, Michele checking in on her periodically, before she was able to free herself and grab a kitchen knife. Not able to get out the door, she stabbed Michele in the hand and jumped through a window. She then hauled ass naked across a field to a nearby home to get help. Investigators would find Ethan’s body stuffed inside a 55-gallon drum with his hands and feet bound.…
