Friends Blame Cyber-Bullying For 16-Year-Old Jessica Laney’s Suicide

HUDSON, FL -- Pasco County authorities say 16-year-old Jessica Laney hanged herself Sunday night, and some of her friends say cyber-bullying is to blame.
According to one of her friends, Laney attended Fivay High School after being transferred there due to bullying at her previous high school. But they say the bullying that led to Laney killing herself did not come from her new school, but rather from anonymous people online. In particular, members of the website Ask.fm.
For the un-initiated, Ask.fm is a social site where users can invite questions and comments from other members, anonymously. Laney’s page is full of the standard crap you would expect on a cute 16-year-old girl’s page, but also contains some disparaging comments from anonymous users calling her fat and a loser. Some even tell teh girl no one cares about her and instruct Laney to hurry up and kill herself.
Her friends say these negative comments are what led the girl to hang herself Sunday night, although official from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office says neither Laney’s parents nor Laney’s boyfriend were aware of Laney being bullied.…

Salem, OR – A 47-year-old woman in Oregon has been charged with attempted murder after she used her Ford F-150 to run down her husband.
Shirley Nunez suspected that her husband, Kenneth, was having an affair with a woman who lived nearby. So on Monday night, Shirley broke into the home of her husband’s alleged mistress and confronted the woman, pointing a gun at her in the process.
No details on what was discussed, but Shirley did not physically injure the woman and left the residence in her 2003 Ford F-150. Kenneth was not nearly as lucky. When Shirley got back home, she saw her husband walking to his motorcycle parked in front of their house and decided to give him a kiss with her truck’s grill.
Bill Deconcini said he and his wife woke up after hearing screaming and the two came outside to find Kenneth unconscious in the grass after Shirley had ran him down with her truck. He was transported to Salem Hospital in critical condition while Shirley was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation before being booked into the Marion County Jail.…

SACRAMENTO, CA — A popular visual arts teacher at St Francis High School was killed while taking pictures of an oncoming train.
Police said 52-year-old Kathy Carlisle was on train tracks near the campus of St Francis, taking pictures of an approaching train, when she was struck from behind by a train travelling in the opposite direction. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The president of St. Francis said the school canceled classes on Monday and organized a memorial service for Carlisle. They’re also providing grief counselors and allowing students to set up a memorial and posting a bulletin board for students who want to share memories or express their grief.
“We’re taking this opportunity to really reflect on the tremendous gift that she was to our community,” said Reid Brown. “She was so skilled and passionate in her work, and really had a gift. The girls understood that she had a gift to share with them.”
Carlisle, a married mother of three, taught 600 students at the all girl Catholic school since 2008.…

MILLBOURNE, PA – Authorities are saying a 44-year-old woman, whose body was found in a Pennsylvania state park almost a week after being reported missing, committed suicide by inhaling helium gas.
A man contacted police on December 2 to report that he had returned home and was unable to find his girlfriend, Teresa Mastracola.
He’d last seen her that morning as she left for Delaware County Memorial Hospital where she worked as an imaging Equipment Specialist, and her co-workers reported that Mastracola never showed up for work that day.
Police did not immediately treat the woman’s disappearance as suspicious because Mastracola, a Master Sergeant with the National Guard, was an avid hiker and would often spend days out in the woods. But this past Saturday, her body was found in a heavily wooded area deep in Ridley Creek State Park.
Authorities have not released all the details surrounding her death, but are confident foul play was not involved, and that the woman had committed suicide. Coroner Frederic Hellman listed her cause of death as chemical asphyxia from helium inhalation.…

Portland, OR – An 11-year-old boy has been accused of trying to carjack and rob a woman at gunpoint, and even returned to the scene of the crime as a news reporter was interviewing the victim.
On Saturday, 22-year-old Amy Garrett was sitting inside her truck in the parking lot of Freedom Foursquare Church waiting for her parents. That’s when she was approached by two boys, ages 11 and 7. The older boy told Garret that he had a gun and would shoot her if she did not give him her truck.
Garrett didn’t believe the boys at first, and refused to let them have her vehicle. That’s when the 7-year-old instructed the older boy to show her the gun. The 11-year-old then lifted his shirt and showed Garrett a handgun. Thinking it was fake, she asked the boy if it was real.
“He said ‘you don’t ever ask somebody if it’s real. That’s how you get yourself shot.’” He also told her he was prepared to blow her brains out if she didn’t give him the truck, her wallet, and her phone.…

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – As you can see by Jonathan Wise’s mugshot, the 19-year-old picked the wrong house to break into when he broke into the home of Norm Houston.
Houston was in his kitchen on November 24 when he went to investigate a strange noise coming from his garage. “I heard a thumping noise on my garage door,” Houston said. “I swung open my backdoor and somebody was standing there.”
That somebody was Wise, who had busted out a side window to gain access to the garage. Caught red-handed, Wise apologized to Houston and offered to fix the damages right before he punched Houston in the face.
Houston and Wise are about the size, both around 5’8″ tall and approx 280 lbs, but Houston had a slight advantage — he’s a personal trainer who specializes in kickboxing and regular boxing. “You know I ain’t the toughest but I can hold my own,” Houston said.
Houston was able to pull Wise into he driveway and hold him to the ground while a neighbor called 911. By time it was over, Wise needed stitches to sew his lip back together and was sporting eyeballs that looked like a pair of freshly f*cked assholes.…

Speaking of the latter, a pair of morning DJ’s in Australia made a really stupid prank call to the hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge was staying, and now the nurse who took the call has been found dead in an apparent suicide.
For those of you who haven’t heard the incredibly important news regarding Kate Middleton being in the hospital recently, she and Prince Williams are expecting a baby and she was recently admitted to King Edward VII hospital suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum — or as others have called it, morning sickness times 1000.
While at the hospital recuperating, two morning DJ’s in Australia decided they would try calling the hospital to ask how she was doing while pretending to be the Queen and Prince Charles.…

ANOKA, MN - A judge sentenced a man to 120 days in jail for doling out a particularly humiliating punishment on his 12-year-old stepdaughter.
Back in May we reported on 38-year-old Stephanie Ann Broten and her boyfriend, 34-year-old Darnell Alan Landrum. In response to Broten’s 12-year-old daughter bringing home bad grades, the couple shaved her head and put her in a diaper before sending her outside in front of neighbors and classmates.
One of these neighbors ended up calling police who arrived to find a crowd of 30 to 50 people watching the poor girl crying hysterically as she tried to get back in her house after being forced to run up and down the street with a shaved head and clad in a diaper and a tank top.
Neighbors said she had been outside for at least 30 minutes and reported seeing the girl standing outside the back door begging her mother to let her in, only to have her mother stare back at her. When police questioned Broten, she told them she did not see what the problem was and that she was simply disciplining her child by embarrassing her.…

Evansdale, Iowa — Kinda sad that I post so many of these stories (3,333 articles so far) that I totally forgot about the two girls who went missing in Iowa over the summer. But this afternoon, Blackhawk County authorities announced that hunters had found two bodies that may be linked to the disappearance of Lyric Cook-Morrissey and Elizabeth Collins.
Authorities say the bodies were found by hunters at 12:45 p.m. today. What they would not say was where the bodies were found or if the bodies were actually those of the girls. However, they did mentioned the missing persons investigation and said the bodies led them to believe the search for the girls would not have a positive outcome.
“It’s definitely not the outcome that we wanted,” said County sheriff’s Capt. Rick Abben as he appeared to fight back tears. The bodies have been sent to the state examiner’s office for positive identification.
Lyric Cook-Morrissey, 10, and her cousin Elizabeth Collins, 8, were last seen leaving their grandmother’s home after being given permission to go out on a short bike ride on July 13.…

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA – A woman in Pennsylvania was charged after she allegedly cut up her boyfriend after he tried leaving her apartment with the last beer.
Vanessa Robinson is behind bars on aggravated assault charges after police say she and her boyfriend, James Gallone, got into a fight last Thursday inside Robinson’s apartment.
Gallone made the mistake of grabbing the last Colt 45 from Robinson’s fridge as he was leaving her apartment. Even though he had paid for it, this move went over about as well as the time someone took Jaded‘s last piece of bacon.
Robinson told Gallone that she didn’t care if he left, but that he was doing so without the beer. The resulting argument escalated into a physical confrontation between the two. After some kicking and punching, the beer was poured onto the ground. That went over about as well as the time time someone took Jaded’s last piece of bacon and then fed it to their dog.
Robinson grabbed a knife and began attacking her boyfriend with it. “She cut him in the arm, neck, back and stomach areas prior to him being able to disarm her,”Trooper Limani said.…

Houston, TX – I am not a fan of PETA and their tactics, but every now and then they do something I like. Things like placing naked women in cages, and helping get people indicted for making and distributing videos depicting animals being tortured and killed.
There are a few type of videos that I absolutely abhor; child rape or abuse videos, flash mob videos, and animal crush videos. I’m sure most know what the first two videos consist of, but for those of you unaware of crush videos, let me ruin your day a bit. Crush videos are videos that usually depict small animals purposely being stepped on.
Back in August, PETA was alerted to some animal torture videos being sold online showing puppies, kittens, rabbits, mice, and other animals being tortured and killed. PETA determined that the alleged producers of the videos lived in Houston, Texas, and turned their evidence over to police.
Two days later, the Houston Police Department arrested Brent Justice, 51, and Ashley Richards, 22, charging them both with cruelty to non-livestock animals.…

CLARKSVILLE, TN – A woman in Tennessee has been charged after admitting that bad sex was what prompted her to lie when she told police she had been raped by a man she met online.
Lynette Lee, 27, told police that she went on a date with a man she met on Meetme.com, and that after the date the two went to a hotel together.
Lee said that once in the hotel room the man forcibly removed her clothes and then raped her.
Police scoured Meetme.com profiles looking for men who fantasized about fucking albino sea turtles before calling the suspect in for an interview. The story he told police was a lot different from the one Lee had told them.
He said the two did meet on the online dating site, but that it was on their second date that they had consensual sex. He said that they had a good time and even made arrangements to meet again.
Police knew that only an honest man would admit to having consensual sex with Lee, so they called her in for a second interview.…

COUDERSPORT, PA – An elementary school music teacher walked into a Sunday church service and shot his ex-wife while she played the organ. He returned minutes later and shot her again to ensure she was dead.
Darlene Sitler, 53, was seated at the organ during the Sunday morning service at First United Presbyterian Church of Coudersport when her ex husband, 53-year-old Gregory Eldred, walked in through a rear door behind the choir.
According to the pastor, Eldred leveled a handgun at Sitler and then shot her. Sitler fell into the organ pit as Eldred walked out of the church. Witnesses say he went to his truck in the parking lot but returned five minutes later.
Some of the congregation tried to keep Eldred from entering, but Eldred said he had to “finish this” and threatened to kill anyone who got in his way. He then walked over to his ex-wife, who was believed to still be alive, saying, “I got to see if she’s dead,” before shooting at her two more times.
Having had enough of his antics, the members of the church where finally able to subdue Eldred and take the gun away from him.…

Austin, TX – A nut in Texas has been accused of constantly harassing her ex-boyfriend before running over the man’s mother.
Ryan Boyd is a 25-year-old man who got a real taste of the crazy after breaking up with 22-year-old Elizabeth McClain, a woman he had dated for about three years. This turned out to be a big mistake.
On Sept. 17, Boyd went to police to report that McClain was calling him about 20 to 100 times a day while threatening to make his life even more miserable than had they stayed together.
On October 11, Boyd contacted police a second time to report that McClain was now contacting him from multiple numbers on a daily basis. One day she called over 750 times. She was also calling his work number every day from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., and was telling him she was going to break into his house or drive her car through his living room.
On November 11, Boyd contacted police a third time to report McClain had texted him 125 times in a row, was again threatening to drive into his living room, and had driven by his house on several occasions.…

Mankato, MN – A judge has thrown out the child pornography charges field against the head coach at Minnesota State-Mankato after nude videos of his children where discovered on his work-issued Blackberry.
This past August, police escorted 46-year-old Todd Hoffner off the field days after he turned his university-issued phone to the I.T. department to be checked out. He wasn’t told specifically why until he was arrested days later on child pornography charges over some videos found on his work phone.
The videos in question were of his nude children and investigators found the videos disturbing. They filed charges against him after conferring with the state prosecutor. Hoffner, with his wife constantly by his side, has said he is innocent from the beginning and that the videos were not pornographic. he stated they were just his three kids being silly in front of the camera after taking a bath.
These videos, two in particular that lasted a minute, reportedly show Hoffner’s 8-year-old boy grabbing his genitals and his two daughters, ages 9 and 5, bending over and spreading their asses apart for the camera. After his arrest, police confiscated computers and other equipment from Hoffman’s home but did not find any evidence to support the prosecution’s allegations that Hoffman was creating child porn.…

Anchorage, Alaska – Israel Keyes, the man who confessed to abducting and murdering 18-year-old Samantha Koenig, was found dead in his cell Sunday morning from an apparent suicide.
Karen Loeffler, the U.S. Attorney for Alaska, held a news conference Sunday afternoon informing the press that Keyes had been found dead in his cell at the Anchorage Jail that morning. They dd not reveal how he killed himself, only that foul play was not suspected and that he was alone in his cell at the time of his death.
Koenig disappeared while working as a barista at a coffee stand in Anchorage. Even with surveillance video capturing Koenig being abducted by an armed man wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and baseball cap, it took months before police in Texas would announce they had arrested 34-year-old Israel “Izzy” Keyes after he used Koenig’s stolen debit card.
Shortly after the self-employed contractor’s arrest, he would confess to murdering Koening and told investigators where her body could be found. Dive teams would find Koenig’s body trapped under the ice of Matanuska Lake.…

NORTH HAMPTON, MA -- A 27-year-old woman in Massachusetts has been charged with multiple counts of child rape after being accused have having sexual relations with her friend’s 13-year-old son.
Amanda Wilson has been charged with four counts of aggravated rape of a child after prosecutors say she had sex with the boy at his house while his mother was away and while she was caring for him when his family went out of town.
No word on how she got busted, but the boy told investigators that Wilson had showed him and another boy pornography on her laptop and would threaten to kill herself if anyone found out about the two having sex. Court documents reveal Wilson admitted to the rapes, citing “daddy issues.” o_O
Despite her admission, she pleaded not guilty to the charges while in court on Wednesday. She was supposed to appear on November 14, but didn’t show because authorities couldn’t find her to let her know. Despite the earlier no-show, her attorney successfully kept her from having to use a GPS device that would monitor her whereabouts until her June, 2013 pre-trial hearing.…

BALDWIN COUNTY, AL – Three teenagers in Alabama have been formally indicted on murder charges after one of their accomplices was accidentally shot and killed.
Three men, William “Nick” Hearn, Lonnie Davison, and Larry Dean Duncan, Jr., were camping with their families on Gravine Island when they heard someone breaking into nearby fishing cabins in the early morning hours on April 15. The men climbed into a boat and went to investigate, encountering Scott Byrd and Dylan Tyree, both 18, burglarizing a home owned by a man the men knew. The two teens were part of a foursome out burglarizing summer cabins.
When the two teens took off running, Hearn fired a warning shot into the ground away from the teens, as did Duncan. One of these shots accidentally struck 17-year-old Summer Moody in the head as she hid behind a bush with 18-year-old Daniel Parnell. Once the men realized Summer had been shot, the men called 911, administered aid, and rushed her to a nearby landing. Summer would live for 10 days before dying from her injuries.…

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – A 14-year-old boy in Utah died yesterday after he pulled out a gun and shot himself in the head in front of his classmates.
David Phan was a ninth-grader at Bennion Junior High where he was reportedly enduring bullying. His friends say he was nice to everyone but that it didn’t stop other students from constantly picking on him. After a meeting in the principal’s office yesterday, he left the school with his mother at around 1:30 pm. The school has not released what the meeting was about, but reports are that he was searched for weapons before being allowed to leave.
A couple hours later he returned to a pedestrian bridge near the school and encountered other students he knew who had just gotten out of school. There was a short conversation before David pulled out a handgun he had retrieved from a locked safe at his home, and then shot himself in the head. He was still alive when emergency personnel arrived, but he would die a short while later in the hospital.…

MONROE COUNTY, IN – A 19-year-old tutor is looking at child molestation charges after a 7-year-old student says he molested her inside a classroom at a non-profit school for kids with dyslexia, ADD, and ADHD.
The victim told investigators that in October she was sitting in the lap of Benjamin Haile, a part time tutor at Pinnacle School, while watching a movie in a darkened classroom. She said Haile put his hands down her shirt and into her pants where he ”rubbed her girl part.” She said Haile had also taken her hands and forced her to “rub his boy part.”
Haile was questioned about the allegations and initially denied he had touched the girl inappropriately, but would later change that statement and tell investigators that it was all just an accident.
He said the girl’s leg was over his arm and he accidentally touched her private part but removed his hand immediately. He also told them he put his hand around her rib to take her off his lap, and accidentally touched her chest. I guess that’s a barely plausible explanation, but come on… you accidentally touched her vagina and her breast in one sitting?…
