BERKELEY COUNTY, WV - An infant was pronounced dead at Martinsburg City Hospital, and police have arrested his mother for murder.
Seven-month-old Skylar Boggs was brought to the hospital Tuesday evening.
Skylar’s mother, Monica Boggs (pictured), told police she had checked on the baby several times throughout the evening. She noticed he wasn’t breathing just after 9:00 p.m.
After the infant was pronounced dead at the hospital, he was taken to the Morgantown Medical Examiner’s Office. According to investigators, the preliminary autopsy indicated Skylar did not die of natural causes.
Troopers tell NBC25 Monica Boggs admitted she had caused the injuries to the child, and the injuries were traumatic. At this point in the investigation, they can’t release any further details.
Boggs is currently being held at the Eastern Regional Jail.
Police said Boggs admitted throwing her son Skylar Trigg Boggs into a crib Tuesday "with great force," according to a complaint filed in Berkeley County Magistrate Court. The child hit the back of his head on a hard surface inside the crib. Monica Boggs told police the impact made "a loud sound," according to the complaint. Boggs' account of the events occurred during an interview Wednesday at the West Virginia State Police's Martinsburg Detachment, and the criminal complaint was filed by Senior Trooper J.J. Bowman.
Police said the statement provided by Boggs was consistent with the autopsy findings on the 7-month-old boy.
Quote:
When Bowman arrived at the hospital, he saw a dark bruise above the infant's left eye, records show. Police later learned the bruise was caused when the child was struck in the eye by a bottle thrown by Monica Boggs.
Quote:
On Wednesday afternoon, Boggs was interviewed by Sgt. D.E. Boober of the Child Abuse Unit and Sgt. Kevin Pansch of the West Virginia State Police Polygraph Unit where she admitted to throwing a bottle, which struck her son under the left eye Saturday, as well as throwing him in the crib, according to police.

I know exactly what you mean.
She was too stupid to appreciate (and care for!) what she had and that baby deserved SO much better.
It doesn't seem fair that some people end up having babies just because they're too stupid to use birth control while others, who desperately want a baby, have so much trouble having one.

theres alot of ppl i would like to meet, friends n family that have passed on b4 me.
Guess she managed to meet one family member who "passed on b4" her.
It seems like it takes a lot more effort to spell so many words wrong than to just look them up and spell them correctly. "muh" instead of my has to be the stupidest thing I've ever seen (and is most definitely my newest pet peeve - would have been earlier if I had known that there were people actually stupid enough to use it)

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A 19-year-old Berkeley County woman charged in the death of her infant son last month waived her right to a preliminary hearing and was released from Eastern Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond, attorneys said Tuesday.
Damn, and no one pulled a pic of the baby...seriously, grab it when you can!
Sylar, you didn't really have a chance with a mother like this...should could barely type at all, I'm thinking her impulse and patience level was near empty. She threw him like a rag doll....unconscionable. I bet she thought he would "bounce" back. I hope she rots in prison. And I see it fit that he died a day before her birthday. Now she will never have a birthday without having to think of the most terrible and unforgivable deed she did.
I wish I'd seen your picture baby Skylar...I imagine sad but with the eyes of an angel.

This is starting to baffle the ole grey matter in my head.
There are PLENTY of parents/guardians/relatives here on D'D that some how have managed and are managing not to kill or harm our child/children.
How is it we managed through sickness, colic, and hardships to do the right thing?
I'm getting a sick, sinking feeling that good parents are becoming the exception in the world today.
**Gilbrit sadly shakes head**
It does seem that good parents are becoming extinct. But think of this, yea we read a lot of these stories here and elsewhere, but there are billions of good parents out there, compared to the thousands that aren't. While one abused child is one child too many, when we read these articles, we need to remember that there ARE more good parents than bad. This is only a handful of the actual moms and dads out there that do realize what they have. The members of D'D are proof of that.
p.s Hope this came out right...
