A 44-year-old man is charged with six felonies and eight misdemeanors after he allegedly tried to attack his stepson Saturday using a chainsaw and Weedeater, and later tried to run over his wife.
Charges filed Tuesday in 3rd District Court say the mayhem began at the couple's home near 800 East and Stratford Avenue when Robert Craft slapped his 11-year-old daughter across the face.
Craft's wife's adult son then punched Craft in the face to defend the girl. Craft responded by allegedly grabbing a chainsaw to attack, but when he could not get it to start, he allegedly threw it aside and picked up a Weedeater.
He could not start that tool either.
Craft then allegedly threw the Weedeater aside and began saying, "You're dead. You're all dead."
The adult stepson left the home with the 11-year-old girl and two other children, all of whom witnessed the fracas.
The wife reported that Craft continued raging after the children left the home, and he began damaging the home with a wooden statue, according to charges. As he finally left, his wife tried to follow.
Then Craft allegedly drove up onto the sidewalk toward his wife, but she was able to move out of the way. He turned his vehicle around and again drove up onto the sidewalk toward her, according to the court documents. The second time, she had to enter a neighbor's gate to avoid being hit by the car.
Now that's a nasty bastard I'd rather not get on the bad side of. Yeesh.
Thankfully he's also an incompetent nasty bastard. Geez. Can't start a chain saw? Can't start a weedwacker? Limpy li'l wrists can't handle pulling the string on the freakin' motor? Oye.

Maybe it's the type of weedeater I had growing up, but weedeaters don't really hurt when you get hit with them unless they have metal blades. What kind of tard can't start one? Easy as hell.
Good job for the son standing up for his sister. I don't know why the mom stayed behind, that was kind of dumb. Almost as dumb as breeding with the tard that can't start a weedeater. LOL

Yay for the adult son taking the kids out of there. Maybe HE'LL at least amount to something... I'm pretty sure the statute probably looked something like this...

A Salt Lake City man who tried to attack his stepson using a chain saw and weed eater, and later tried to run over his wife during an August incident at the family's home, has been sentenced to serve 18 months of probation.
I guess next time he will kill someone.

Fucking SHIT! 18 MONTHS probation?....
I want to move there in case I need to kill someone. I'll get like 3 years probation for ACTUALLY killing someone.
KUDOS to the son, both for defending then for removing the children. Mom should have left too.

It just me, or it sound strange to anyone else that the stepson didn't leave until AFTER:
1) the grabbing of the chainsaw,
2) the attempt (failed) to start the chainsaw,
3) the frustrated tossing aside of the unuseful chainsaw,
4) the search for a replacement tool,
5) the grabbing of the weedeater,
6) the attempt (failed) to start the weedeater,
7) the frustrated tossing aside of the unuseful weedeater, and then
8) the shouting of "you're dead, you're all dead".
If that were me, I'd be 2 counties down the second I saw this redneck bastard reaching for the chainsaw. With 911 being dialed on my cell as I was running.
How much yuckier is it all that the wife didn't leave, at all? But in fact - chased the bastard down (and then only after he continued his rampage damaging their property inside the house)? He apparently was on his way out of the home when she FOLLOWED him and then he tried to run her off the road! Thank goodness she dodged him on the sidewalk, heavens me.

Um...I think that the son was getting the other kids out of the house during the action. The "dad" probably has mental and/or substance abuse issues and the good wife was trying to save his stupid ass...you know, more well intentioned people get killed that way....
Prick needs to be responsible for his own actions....leave, call 911, let the police sort it out with the prick
