Julie Landry Has a Plan to Unclog the Toilet

LA - Last Wednesday at East Iberville Elementary, the unthinkable happened. "I made the toilet overflow with toilet paper and poo," Trevor Williams, 7, says.

And a year after joining the Iberville Parish school system, elementary school teacher Julie Landry, 46, may be out of a job. She was arrested Monday and is accused of cruelty to a juvenile.

Trevor says he used the restroom at school, but used too much toilet paper and stopped up the toilet. Trevor's mom says what the teacher made him do to unstop it is unimaginable. "Trevor, you go up in there and you unplug it. Then, told him next time, if you do it again, she gonna make him pull it out with his teeth," says Alfrieda Williams.

The seven-year-old says his first grade teacher made him unstop the bathroom toilet at the school with his bare hands. An affidavit states that Trevor's teacher, Julie Landry, intentionally forced the child to place his hand in a toilet containing human feces and urine. However, that's not where the embarrassment ends. "S--sssy (pronounced Essy) hands. Here comes sssy hands," says Michael Williams, Trevor's father. He says that's what the kids called his son the next day.

Shortly after her arrest, Landry's parents posted her bond.

Landry is a teacher practitioner, which is part of an alternative teaching program. Her future is being discussed at Monday night's school board meeting in Iberville.

I'm sure it's not unique to Louisiana, but I grew up in Louisiana and remember horrible punishments for children. The son of one of my sister's friends was forced to kneel on oyster shells for poor behavior, and if you've seen the shells that are commonly used to line drives and roads in south Louisiana, you know that would be like kneeling on broken glass.

I know the shells that you are talking about. Hell, I have stepped on them with flip flops on and felt the sharp edge. So, damn.
This teacher is insane.

That's just inexcusable. When my son was 4 he decided it would be a good idea to go from corner to corner in the house and leave a little piece of his shit in every one. I handed him one square of toilet paper and told him to pick up after himself. When he refused, I asked him if he would prefer to use his bare hands. That piece of toilet paper got one HECK of a workout and he NEVER pulled that stunt again! Little did he know at age 4 that I would NEVER have made him touch poop with his bare hands!
