The case worker says before Briana went to surgery, the mother was asked to contact someone who could help her make some decisions, but the mother instead called her boyfriend and began to giggle t o the point that a hospital worker had to interrupt the mother's conversation and again ask the mother to contact someone who could help her make decisions.

The CPS investigator also says the mother had inconsistencies throughout her interview and never offered an explanation for why it took so long to drive to the hospital. The investigator says based on possible substance abuse and domestic violence in the home, it was in the best interest of Briana to be placed in protective custody.

Brianna remains in critical condition at Driscoll Children's Hospital. So far, no one's been arrested.

OMG!!!!! My baby was rushed to emergency at 5 days old and I just couldn't stop crying!!! I was an absolute blubbering mess. I still remember them asking me if the way she was breathing was 'normal' for her. I felt so guilty that I didn't know. She was only 5 days old, I didn't know her inside out yet.
How could this woman even raise a smile, let alone giggle!!!!!!!!

According to police, Williams fell asleep on at the biological mother's boyfriend's house on Lawnview around 11 p.m. Friday night. The mother, whose identity is not being released, was not home at the time.

Police said she was in Aransas Pass collecting some items from Williams' teenage biological father. According to the boyfriend of the mother, around 3:00 a.m. Saturday, Williams began to vomit and foam at the mouth.

Police said her mother arrived later that morning and took her daughter to the hospital around 8:50 a.m.

"The injuries that the baby suffered caused the brain to swell, so they did a surgery where they opened the skull and allowed the brain to expand otherwise the baby could've died," CCPD Family Violence Lieutenant Rebecca Schauer said.

Police said the biological mother and the boyfriend are not being considered suspects as of yet. CPS and police are continuing to question them about what exactly happened.

Well, I know from ppl that have partied with mother & bf when the child was around, That they were mean to her & mother even threatened the baby if she "didn't sit down & shut up"-she was going to get the bf. Jacolby Williams is Briana's Bio-Daddy, he is still in High school, lives with his parents in Aransas, Tx?? , He has sole custody of Briana, Katelyn only had visitation rights (court took away Mommy's rights, after Briana was brought to "Driscoll Children's Hospital" a different time). Jacolby was in the process of going through the courts to take away Katelyns visitation rights. Because she kept coming back with bruises and injuries. (thats what family members say. )

I am getting conflicting info about it, Some one said bree's doctors are saying it wasn't SBS, but something else. The new, news article says " still investigating what caused the girl to exhibit the symptoms of shaken baby syndrome" , sounds like we need a professional opinion like Our wonderful Nurse Ronda.

There are actual picts of people tossing her in the air on her myspace page, but I dont think it happened that way, what ever it was her brain got some serious blunt force trauma to it.

If the doctors are saying that it isn’t SBS then the brain was injured in a way that symptoms will appear, if the child received a blow to the back of the head, the part of the brain that is used for sight. Foaming at the mouth and vomiting heavily are signs of a crushing blow to the head causing a severe brain injury or by SBS. It would be my guess that the baby’s head bounced when she received the blow to her head if it wasn’t SBS. It would also be my guess that once the person who gave the blow to her head panicked after and shook her to get her to respond. It still looks to me after reading that it was SBS. If this child lives, she may be blind, suffer seizures and will never resemble the child that she was before this happened. This one is heartbreaking for me to even comment on. Just pray for the impossible to happen for this angel.

Penelopejo, they did not remove any part of her brain, they just cut away the skull and it would be my guess that they placed that part of her skull in her abdomen to keep it from breaking down. They removed the skull to keep from injuring the brain further from the swelling. Inside the skull there is no room for swelling.

"Dr. Harper testified as to the injuries that she observed on the child when the child came into the ER. There was a social worker from Driscoll Children's Hospital who testified as to her interaction with the mother, and one of our investigators testified as to what she uncovered during her investigation," CPS PIO John Lennan said.

According to Child Protective Services, the details given by Dr. Nancy Harper convinced the judge that Williams did not belong in the care of Webb.

"Briana has symptoms of abusive head injury," she said. "The baby had bruises from head to toe, signs of whiplash, bleeding in her eyes, and even signs that she had been strangled and punched when she arrived at Driscoll Children's Hospital. These injuries are in no way accidental."

A second witness, CPS Social Worker Belinda Luera, said, "During an interview with Webb in the trauma ward, Webb displayed signs of being unemotionally attached to Briana. She showed no emotion, and stopped the interview several times to answer a phone call and was observed giggling."

William's biological father, 17-year-old Jacolby Williams also took the stand. He said he and Webb don't have a relationship outside caring for Briana and that he's comfortable with CPS having custody at this point.

Both Webb and Samora are also facing criminal charges in the case and they'll appear in court at a later date.

KRIS 6 News also learned from a court affidavit that Samora may have previously been abusive with Briana, and often used the 'N-word' because Briana was part black.

According to court documents, Samora's nephew told police, "Briana would always cry when Anthony was around."

He said Anthony knew this and would take Briana from her mother's arms on purpose and tell her things like, 'Shut up, N-word baby', and 'What's wrong, N-word baby'.

The nephew also told police, "He witnessed Anthony put a lit cigarette in Briana's mouth and would tell her, "Smoke this, N-word, baby'."

He went on to say, "During most of these incidents, Katelyn was present and never did anything to make Anthony stop or protect Briana."

Briana's uncle also told investigators that after a visit with Katelyn, Briana had bite-mark-type bruises on her arms.

The Samora family says Katlyn likely agrees with them and that's why she changed her mind wanting to keep Briana alive by all means possible.

Judge Terry Shamsie ruled the DNR, the do not resuscitate order should be removed.

Yet, medically speaking Briana's quality of life will never be the same this according to Driscoll doctors. One doctor saying the young girl will likely be wheel-chair bound, and never talk again
