A 22-year-old Montana man has been arrested after his 4-year-old daughter was left in a car for hours in below-zero temperatures.
Jeramey Sheeler, of Vaughn, Mont., faces a charge of criminal endangerment. Great Falls Police Lt. Jack Allen says Sheeler left his sleeping daughter in a Jeep parked on the street early Saturday while he went inside a house to visit a 13-year-old girl.
When the girl woke up, she got out of the vehicle and starting going house to house knocking on doors. Someone let her in and then called police. The temperature outside at the time was about 14 degrees below zero, according to the Great Falls Police Department.
Police found Sheeler at the house next door. The girl told police that she and Sheeler were in bed together, but nothing sexual happened. Police believe Sheeler left his daughter in the unheated car for about two hours.
Police officers said they also found a pipe with marijuana residue on the center console of Sheeler's car. Sheeler is also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers say the girl is OK and was released to her mother.

For Fucks sake, 2 plus hours in a car in sub zero temps with a wind chill factor estimated to be about 30 degrees below zero at the time, WTF is wrong with this Ass-Pirate?? The little girl was found with her skin turning purple. So her body temp as falling fast. All while dear ole dad was in bed with a 13 year old.

Alas, the charges he currently faces aren't really that likely to put him away for any real length of time, especially if he has no prior record. I am sorry to say that people have done worse to their children and faced misdemeanor charges.

Especially when he almost killed his own child, to "just lay in bed" with a horny teenager. Speaks volumes about his character.

So very glad this little one got out and found help...she could have easily died in her sleep, but then I guess she woke up freezing! Smart girl. I hope her mother loves her right and never lets her out of her sight again.

A Vaughn man was sentenced to five years in prison on Thursday for leaving his 4-year-old daughter alone in a car while he visited a teenage girl on a frigid night last December.
None of the sentence time was suspended for 22-year-old Jeramey Sheeler. But he was given a recommendation to first participate in a rigorous boot camp training program that could result in an earlier parole date, said Cascade County Attorney John Parker.
The sentence was in accordance with a plea agreement reached between Sheeler and Cascade County prosecutors in May.

Sheeler said the girl was in the car for about an hour, while prosecutors said witness accounts suggested she was left in the vehicle for closer to two hours.
"The level of gross neglect was shocking," Parker said.
Prosecutors dismissed a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia against Sheeler in exchange for the guilty plea.
