Member WorkshopForum for members to show off anything they have created. A review on a movie or book or just some artwork you created or story you wrote. If we dig it, we'll throw it on the Front Page.
So, many of you have read enough of my reviews (hopefully) that you’re getting a feel for the exploitation genre as a whole (hell, I hit enough subgenres anyway), and sometimes it may feel as if the women are just in the films to add some breasts and get killed. That’s not (always) the case. No, no. In fact, Jack Hill (Coffy, Spider Baby) had one of his most well known films with blaxploitation goddess Pam Grier (Coffy, Black Mama, White Mama, Scream Blacula Scream) called Foxy Brown. If you haven’t heard of this flick before, or haven’t ever seen a blaxploitation, this (or, Coffy) would be an excellent place to start.

I agree that Foxy Brown or Coffy are good starting points. If anybody ever treads into the "women in prison" territory, I recommend another Jack Hill classic, The Big Birdcage. Do not confuse the title with The Big Dollhouse. Both of these do star the stunning Grier. Black Mama, White Mama is semi-WIP.
Hill and Jack opened up a gateway to exploitation films for me. I immediately started acquiring women in prison, revenge, and blaxploitation films. Now, I'm well-versed in nunsploitations, naziploitations, biker films et cetera. I don't have time to read the review, but I shall when I return home from work.
films: recommended.
ps: If you like a mix of horror in your blaxploitation - Check out Abby(hilarious but dark possession flick) and (The Zombies of) Sugarhill(also, a nice revenge flick with zombies doing Sugar Hill's bidding. Pure Gold. : )

Glad to see someone else digs exploitation flicks. Feels like a forgotten art. Got reviews coming up for Ricki Oh, Popcorn and Prophecy (not the Walkin one). For blaxploitation Superfly is also a pretty good start.

Nothing will ever be up to par with the fuckin' awesomely insane The Story of Riki. Riki is probably up in my favorite 20 movies of all time.
I havent seen Popcorn in ages, but I do remember the original box art so vividly. It's sad that they don't portray films like they did back in the day on newer film's covers... and it's downright shitty to totally change them in new releases.
I noticed you changed your avatar. I love all the L and S movies.
Blacula is ok in my book. Scream, Blacula, Scream(with Grier) was very much a let down : la tristeza: I'd consider Dont be a Menace to Society While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood a blaxy, too(and I like it more than I'm gonna Get You Sucka)
