GrindhouseCome in and have a seat, never you mind about that sticky stuff that has your shoes stuck to the floor. The show will begin shortly. In the meantime, feel free to discuss the darker side of film - past, present and future. Feel free to check out the Dreamin' Demon Crime Lab for some films we suggest.
"NIGHT OF THE DEMONS" Continues To Spark Interest. Trailer Included.
The remake train has continued it's rampaging course and now stopped at Night Of The Demons. Many Horror fans have already heard about the news, some mad about it, some not. I'm the messenger and not the film studio so don't hate me for bringing remake news. Basically the film is very similar to the 1988 original. From the trailer below, I have to admit that this remake has an edge to it. The trailer has a rustic, campy to slight dirty look to it, our films from back in the day had those mechanics and that's why we love so many of them, well at least I do. Hopefully Night of The Demons will live up to be a decent remake.
Beyond Hollywood is reporting that Your best chance of catching it will probably be on DVD in early 2010. The film stars Edward Furlong, Shannon Elizabeth, Monica Keena, Bobbi Sue Luther, John F. Beach, Michael Copon, Tiffany Shepis, Michael Arata, and Diora Baird. Directed by Adam Gierasch (”Autopsy”).
It turns out that the Broussard Mansion is home to demons that need to possess seven vessels to break free of an ancient curse. One by one the guests fall victim, transforming into hideous creatures. Only Maddie, Colin and Jason remain but can they make it through the night and keep evil forces from spreading into the world?
If we can forget the whole "remake thing for a minute... after simply watching that trailer, I must say that I have damn year zero interest in watching this one. Honestly, it just doesn't look that good. Who the hell cast Shannon Elizabeth in this one? Her line from the trailer "Look! There are bodies in the basement!" made me think I was watching the latest "Scary Movie spoof.
I still don't understand the need to remake every 80s horror movie that ever existed. Imagine if the book industry decided to start doing "remakes" and "updates" of classic novels. A new version of "To Kill A Mocking Bird" with an extreme edge. Maybe Boo has a sexual fetish this time around or something.
It's the same thing, in my opinion. You don't rewrite a classic book. You shouldn't remake a classic movie.
