Opelousas LA KLFY) A four year old is in the hospital and his father is behind bars. This, after Opelousas Police say he put his son in scalding bath water, because he wet the bed.
Carey Cortez broke down as he tried to explain why his four year old son would have to sleep in a hospital bed Wednesday night, suffering from first and second degree burns to both feet.
"I got angry with him. He wasn't paying attention to what I was doing. I love my children, never meant to hurt him."
"Never thought to check how hot the water was. He told me it was hot, I was so upset I didn't listen." said Cortez.
Cortez admits that when he dropped him off for school, he was limping in pain, but still did nothing to help his son.
"He cried, but I didn't think it was from pain. I just thought it was because I was mad."
The boy lives with his father and step mother, Annie Smith, who also was arrested for obstruction of justice. Police say she tried to convince the child not to tell anyone what happened.
I have that problem sometimes too Carey. When I hear of the excuses people give for torturing their children, I get so mad I can't listen to them while I beat the living shit out of them.

Dad and stepmom both need their feet placed in scalding water. I'll donate the pot and boil enough water to fill the bathtub. Let's make them suffer as this precious baby did. Yes, 4 yrs old is still a baby in a lot of ways.

In all ways! Of course I still think my 6 year old who is about to turn 7 is a baby.
Bless this little guys heart. And this "dad" is a douchebag . I would never put my child out at school crying and upset no matter the reason. He couldn't at last look at the childs feet?

Even if this was a mistake, and I don't believe that it was, the part as he let his child suffer and go to school limping is knowing torture. He can rest assure his son will never forget what he did to him and let his cries go ignored. Yeah, he fucked up bad. The woman is no mother.
