Brawl breaks out at babies funeral in Milwaukee

The emotional funeral of Christopher L. Thomas Jr. erupted in violence today as family and friends of the child's birth mother and father clashed in bitter frustration.
Christopher's foster mother, Crystal P. Keith, was charged last week with beating the 13-month-old boy to death and with torturing his 2-year-old sister. Crystal Keith is married to the brother of the child's birth father, whose name is also Christopher Thomas.
The dispute simmered throughout the service but erupted near its end, as people lined up near the open casket to pay their final respects.
Several people began to taunt Thomas, who sat at the front of the Serenity Funeral Home chapel, his eyes closed.
Who threw the first blow was unclear. Thomas was punched on the left side of his face. He was removed from the chapel and taken to a couch, the left side of his face severely swollen, a bloody gash beneath his left eye.
In the chapel, chairs were thrown aside and flower displays were knocked over. Several people grabbed the boy's casket to keep it from being flung down.
As people cried out for calm, the fight spread to the funeral home lobby and into the street. An ambulance arrived at the front of funeral home just as the casket was carried out the back and loaded into a hearse.
The hearse hurriedly pulled away toward Graceland Cemetery, followed by a small group of cars. In an area of the cemetery designated Baby Land, a quick graveside service was held at a plot donated by the county.
Most of the handful of people at the graveside appeared to be family and friends of the child's birth mother, Candace Glover.
Glover, weeping as she clutched several stuffed animals to her chest, was too distraught to leave the back seat of her car.
Family members said they did not have enough money to rent a place to gather after the funeral. They stood in the cemetery near their cars and grieved.
Yes this is the after math of the Crystal Keith is a murdering bitch. That was front paged yesterday.

I have no problem understanding why this is such an emotional event.

What I am having trouble understanding though, is why these two families were not kept apart. (Crystal Keith is the sperm donors sister)

This story has just so many little plot lines and twists that I cannot possibly keep up.

So discuss amongst yourselves. Should Milwaukee police charge anyone with assault? Or has everyone suffered enough?

Oh, good grief. There's just no peace, is there? The poor mom, sitting in the car crying her eyes out and clutching stuffed animals.

By the way, Crystal Keith is NOT the bio father's sister. She is MARRIED to the bio father's brother. Got that??

Both of these families are terribly trashy. Let's recap, shall we?

Babies were taken from mom and dad because mom was abusing the children and daddy was a crack dealer in jail. The babies were placed in the care of clearly undeserving family members who abused them to death and near death. At the funeral, members of mom's side of the family assaulted dad, even though both mom AND dad contributed to these children being placed with family in the first place.

Who starts a fight at a fucking funeral??? I'll tell you who - TRASH.

Clearly, this tragedy wasn't bad enough for these families to eject the bad elements from their circle.

Edit: Oh, and to answer the question - Anyone guilty of assault should be charged with it. This incensingly disrespectful behavior should be punished, lest this situation spin even farther out of control.

Personally if it would have been the Social Worker who did NOTHING to prevent this death, I would have been OK with a brawl breaking out.

At a FUNERAL??? You can't possibly mean that.

No, fighting at a funeral is totally UNACCEPTABLE. You are at a funeral to show and say your respects to the person/child who has passed.

I agree with Athena these people are nothing but trash and there is no class in any bone in there body and never will they.

This poor baby didn't get a chance to have a loving, happy, fulfilled life because of the trashy people. Then they don't show any respect to the baby in his death/funeral. Hell, yea charge anyone who participated in the brawl.

OMG!!!! I just can't believe a loving 'white' family wanted to adopt this precious boy and was knocked back. (I'm not being racist, and I only refer to colour because this is why this loving family was knocked back).
And instead they kept these two children in a family of obvious trash!!
Sure emotions would have been running high at the funeral, i don't know, have 2 sittings or something. Both families can grieve but not together.
They nearly knocked his coffin for christ sake.

When my cousin was killed the news crews for the local television stations disrespected us by placing cameras inside the funeral home. The showed me crying my eyes out on the five oclock, six oclock, and ten oclock news. My father was a paw bearer and they got in his face with the camera. He has a bad back and knees and he lost his balance and almost dropped the casket because of it. Granted I was only seventeen at the time but I wanted to go after them and hurt them as badly as I was hurting inside. My mother wouldnt let me. Told me it wasnt the time or the place. But the news can suck like that. Freedom of speech and all.

Right after high school a carload of my friends were in an accident; none survived. It was big news; there were news crews with cameras at the funeral, and photos of the mourners on the front page of the paper.

    Tacky, tacky, tacky.

Mob fights and beatings are ridiculously common in Milwaukee. This summer a 3-year-old girl ran in the street and was accidentally hit by a car. The driver got out to help her and was assaulted by bystanders. Charlie Young Jr. was beaten to death by 15-some odd kids ages 10-19 in 2002 after confronting one of them for throwing an egg at him. There's a high school, Bradley Tech, where there's some sort of huge fight every week it seems like.

I love my town and I would never leave *except maybe to move to Pewaukee, ahem* but this is out of control.

I was born in Milwaukee. My Dad was a Navy recruiter there. Both sides of my family are from Wisconsin and most still live there, but none live in Milwaukee. Maybe it's a good thing the navy transferred him out of there when I was 2. I never would have made it in that kind of place.
